Cabling / Cards :: Connected But Unable To Access Internet?
Mar 29, 2012
It is a Dell Inspiron using Windows 7 and the internet has suddenly stopped working on it. It is able to connect to the router fine and says it has a connection but is unable to access anything. And this is accessing the router either wirelessly or wired through an ethernet cable. I know that it is not the router because her roommates are able to access the internet fine and her computer is also unable to access the internet from other networks. Is it possible that the network card in her laptop has died and needs to be replaced? or could it be a corrupted driver? Would using a usb network adapter be a temporary fix? I have searched many forums trying to find an answer but have been unable to.Also a couple times when attempting to see if the wired connection worked I had plugged in the ethernet cable and was able to access google for 5 seconds and then it stopped working, and then unplugging and reconnecting would yield the same results
I have the following equipment/software: Acer Aspire One running Windows XP SP3, Artheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter, Realtek RTL8102E PCI NIC, Cisco Linksys E1000 Router. The Wireless Network Connection status says that I'm connected to my network with a full signal strength but I cannot get out to the internet and I cannot ping the router from that computer. I can, however, get to the internet via a wired connection to the router via the Realtek NIC. This has been the only computer that I've been unable to connect to my network and to the internet. It was connected to a different router before and connected easily but that router went bad so I replaced it with the E1000.Don't know if it's the wireless adapter that's bad or something else.
WOke up this morning and my desktop will connect to the router via LAN and WLAN, but states that there is no external internet connectivty.I know this isn't the case as my MAC will connect via WLAN and LAN (same ethernet cable) and I can access external sites. My router is therefore working correctly and my internet connection is fine.I presume this must be some kind of driver issue, but it states that my drivers are installed, up to date and working correctly
After pconfig /renew (I get this error) No operation can be performed on pth while it has its media disconnected. An error occurred while renewing interface local area connect an operation was attempted on something that was not a socket.
I am also trying to wipe it but no not have XP disc and no one I know does either so what is the safest way?
I am unable to connect to the internet through my wireless router. However, I can connect using neighbor's wireless connection and other laptops in my home are able to connect to the internet using MY wireless connection. The problem started suddenly, I used to be able to connect, then I had the problem so I rebooted and that resolved the issue temporarily. I tried disabling the wireless adapter card then rebooting, this did not work. I also unchecked the TCP/IPv6.
Today I bought a TP-Link 150 Mbps Wireless PCI Express Adapter so I can pick up the internet connection in my house from my home PC. (We use a laptop most of the time which is able to pick it up fine).I've installed the wireless adapter into the computer and installed the drivers however I receive an error message:
"The device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system. Insert of Reinsert Now."
I have a compaq preario running on windows 7 ultimate. It has been working well with the internet connection but recently it stopped connecting to the internet. It recognizes other computers in the network but the internet connection is not available.
I thought i would clever and make an extension from my Virgin Superhub via Ethernet to a second pc that is currently using Wireless to improve speed. The amazing thing is the ethernet cable I made up actually seems to work but only when my wireless connection is on. If I disable my wireless to use just the ethernet I get no connection showing! If I click on properties it shows I am connected at 100mbps but I presume this is just the connection between the Hub and the pc although my Internet connection dialog also shows 100mbps.In the Services dialog I can add services which I presume would give me access.I have my ip address but do not know the name of the service I should be running (DCHP?) or the Port numbers. In addition to this there doesn't seem to be a network card appearing in device manager other than the wireless dongle.
My Internet connection works completely fine when all I have is my laptop connected to the wifi, but when my desktop also connects to the internet, than my laptop's internet doesn't work at all until i shut the desktop down.
I have wireless connectivity, but my ethernet local area post will not work. Pinged 198.168.1.1 but got 4 timed out messages. Checked hardware condition and the controller card says it is functioning properly. Running Network Properties shows only the wireless connections, with Local Area Port disconnected.
I just moved into a new apartment and I bought a usb wireless adapter so I could make use of the virgin media broadband. I've only ever used the internet on this computer via my ethernet connectionI installed the network adapter with no problem (using the CD included in the box) and it appears in my device manager and is working correctly. However, when I look look at the available networks I can only find BT Openzone (it's a pay as you go service, I'm using it now to try and fix this ), and some random BTHomeHub. I should be able to see a lot more, including my Virgin Media network, but I can't. It was the best 'Dongle'[?] in the store, so I'm guessing it's not an issue of proximity. I'm also certain that the network should be publicly visable. [CODE]
So my roommates friend stayed with us last weekend and he wasn't able to connect to the internet so he updated our Netgear router. Ever since that update my Toshiba laptop has not been able to connect our wireless network. My other two roommates, though, have no trouble connecting. (they're both on MACs) He suggested that I update my drivers, but everything is already updated. When I plug in the Ethernet cable I can connect to the internet fine, having to come into his room late at night to watch porn.
I'm running on a Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network Adapter.
i can search for networks. As you can tell i am currently on the internet on my laptop. I can search for the current network i am on through my adapter. I then connect to it. It says im connected to a unidentified network. It will not let me search the internet or anything else.
I have a HP dm1 3014au netbook.I am unable to turn on the wifi device in my netbook eventhough in device manager it is says my network adapter is working properly. My wirless adapter is Ralink RT5390.
I can connect directly to the router wirelessly without any problems. When I use my powerline adapter I get the 'unable to contact DHCP Server' error. I've tried unencrypting the router with no success. I've also released/ renewed my IP. [code]
I have a Netgear ProSafe FVS318 wireless router whose login information I have lost. I have attempted to manually reset it using the reset button on the back, and return it to factory default settings (thus resetting the login information to admin/password).I have checked everywhere, including the documentation for the router itself. I have gotten multiple instructions on how to reset it (generally telling me to hold the button down for anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 seconds until the test light blinks or stays solid and then blinks or stays solid again, or telling me to hold down the button while turning it on). None of these methods have worked. The router still will not reset. It never reboots no matter how long I hold down the button, no matter when I release it, no matter what the orange "test" light is doing, and no matter if I begin with the router on or off. It will not reboot and I still cannot login.
The orange "test" light has behaved the same way each time; after 10 seconds, it turns solid, and then begins blinking before turning back off. After 20 seconds, it turns solid, and then turns off. It does this if I hold the reset button down for 10 seconds, regardless of whether or not I release the button after it first turns solid. If I continue to hold down the reset button, it continues this pattern indefinitely, for as long as the button is held. When I turn the router on, it turns solid before turning off, regardless of whether I am holding the rest button down. Its behavior never deviates from the observed patterns regardless of what I do. At no point has the router ever rebooted on its own.The default login should be admin/password, as this information is included on the bottom of the router, and in its documentation.
i have encountered this problem and when i try to change the tc/ip the notification appear as you must install or enable network adapter card.. all the driver are updated ..
I have an Eee-PC and im trying to connect to the internet via my HUAWEI E173 MOBIEL INTERNET STICKWhen I plug it in it reds it, but only like a mass storage device.
A few weeks ago, i noticed that my desktop was unable to access the internet, even though it shows that it is connected. i eventually decided taht it must have been a hardware issue, so i bought a new motherboard. after installing the motherboard, an a fresh installation on Windows, i saw after the drivers were installed that the same thing was happening. I pinged sites, and i got no losses on data. i also did a tracer, and it showed me that it is in fact connecting.
I noticed that when I connect the pc to the network(it is always via cable) it recognizes the network as "network", whereas if i use the same connection for my laptop, it brings up the network as "NETGEAR", which is, in fact, my network's name.
I have a fee pcs at home...all are able to connect to the internet but theres only one thats not able to...the network and connection centre keeps and changing from identifying to not connected. The cable itself is fine.
I can open files, play videos, run programs, etc. Windows installed without a problem. However, I can't connect to the Internet. At all. I can't even register my version of Windows because I can't contact Microsoft for verification, because the connection won't get through. No Internet devices can be detected. That was with a long cable wired directly to our router, which is next to our modem. So, today, I bought a D-Link Xtreme N Desktop PCI adapter to connect. Still no connection... I don't think the PC even detects the adapter, because the drivers coming with the adapter can't detect it, and the light on the adapter doesn't turn on.That shouldn't happen. Both the cable and adapter go directly into the motherboard. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, and my motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V PRO.My ISP is Cogeco. All other computers and wireless devices in the house work perfectly fine.
My acer aspire 4736z can not use anymore internet even tough the wifi icon says its connected. I can use cable. should I download a new wifi adapter? My adapter is Atheros AR928x wireless net work adapter.
i have a Rosewill RNX-N180PCe Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and today when i turned my computer on i noticed a cation symbol on my internet access, it said that i have limited access and after going through the troubleshooting it said that my ip address is not valid, however when i connect via Ethernet i dont have any problems, also no other devices that require wireless internet access are having any problems, ive tried everything i can think of; checking for hardware changes, updating drive, disabling/enabling and nothing has worked
I just got a new laptop. Like, just yesterday, but for some odd reason it can't connect to the internet in the living roomMore Info:Laptop bought yesterday. Absolutely new. Samsung, A6 Vision, Windows 7. It can hold to 480GB I think or at least around and has 6GB Ram. I brought it home, made the default brower Google Chrome and connected it to the home internet and entered in the security key/password, so it's all connected. IN the living room, the connection is really good. All the other laptops there -even my really bad old one can connect fine to the internet. My new one says it's connected, but no internet. But since the other ones get internet, I don't think I need to restart the router -although I did so anyways and it didn't work
I just bought a used laptop and everything seems to work fine except the wireless. I sometimes can't find networks that I know are there but this can be fixed sometimes by restarting. The biggest problem I have is the internet speeds are really slow. I'm running on an N router and I am only getting about 100kb/s when my other laptop is getting about 600kb/s to 1mb/s. I have no clue what is wrong. I was thinking of trying to change the wireless card but I don't want to be hasty.
We have 3 units of computer in our house uses a router and a 8port switch hub. The unit i am using can connect directly to the internet but cannot be mapped in lan. I tried pinging and i already assigned IP addresses in all units but still nothing happen. I already done format and cloned from the other unit.
i bought a netgear for my laptop and when trying to connect to it,i get through the connections to the setup and then it says that it detects a static ip address.
I live in an apartment building that offers free wi-fi. The connection on my laptop is bad and extremely inconsistent. I was wondering how I could improve this. I was wondering if a usb wireless network adapter would improve my connection.
I have been using this router for 6 months without problems. However, it hasn't been working since yesterday morning. It receives power but the Internet led doesn't light up. The network leds are blinking faintly and rapidly. I can't access the configuration page from my browser. Is it dead or not?
I have a client who has 4 computers in the house all running wireless. 2 desktops and 2 laptops. One of the laptops is running XP and after 5-10 minutes of surfing, the internet stops working while all the other computers retain a good internet connection. Repairing the connection via the taskbar icon fixes it temporarily until the issue reoccurs.
I have one desktop system and one laptop. In desktop i have Internet Broadband. Now i have installed wifi PCi card into Desktop to share internet to my laptop. But there seems some problem i am not able to share internet.
I can connect to the internet using my neighbors wireless router but when I try to use my ethernet cable it connects me to "network 16" but the internet doesnt work. Ive tried different cables and different wall ports and that didnt work. It has been working before but I disconnected it to go somewhere and when I came back I had this problem. I use Windows 7 and Im trying to connect using Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
