I have a client who has 4 computers in the house all running wireless. 2 desktops and 2 laptops. One of the laptops is running XP and after 5-10 minutes of surfing, the internet stops working while all the other computers retain a good internet connection. Repairing the connection via the taskbar icon fixes it temporarily until the issue reoccurs.

I've been trying for two weeks now to connect to the internet but can't. This suddenly happened on a Monday after I got home from work. Up until that point, I have had no problems. At first I thought it was my cable, but when I plug the cable into my brother's PC, it works. Then thinking it could be my network card, he picked up a wireless card for me, but still no go. I've searched these forums and many forums over the internet and tried many things but I still have no luck. I've scanned for viruses and malware but nothing has turned up.
I have Norton anti virus but installed Adaware per recommendation to double check. I also used Malware Bytes. On Xirrus, I clicked the ping test and everything showed as pass but still, low connectivity. I get that even when I plug in the cable. When I look at my connection status under activity, the bytes sent and received are in the low thousands.I have only a very basic understanding of networks. [code]....
WOke up this morning and my desktop will connect to the router via LAN and WLAN, but states that there is no external internet connectivty.I know this isn't the case as my MAC will connect via WLAN and LAN (same ethernet cable) and I can access external sites. My router is therefore working correctly and my internet connection is fine.I presume this must be some kind of driver issue, but it states that my drivers are installed, up to date and working correctly
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have 300Mbps PCI wireless LAN network card which I installed in my PC and until today I was connected to my Sky router wirelessly. I also have a wireless Brother all in one connected to the same PCI card.
The engineer who installed my Sky fibre broadband told me in order to achieve maximum speeds I should connect via an ethernet cable to my Sky router as wireless could be a lot slower so I bought one and connected up and disabled the wirelss card. All good so far until I noticed my Brother all in one was complaining about no network ID.
My problem is that I can't seem to run my printer wirelessly as well as run my broadband wired. If I enable the wireless adapter the printer works but my broadband is wireless as well and the wired connection is disabled.
I recently purchased a Belkin F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter after my 6 year old adapter was unable to see my home network in the network list.
I installed the software but the adapter wouldn't connect to my home network so I reinstalled and updated the driver, still wouldn't work. Finally about 2 hours later it just randomly connected. Now it has been frequently (1-2 times a day) losing connection to my home network for around 3 hours, it can see a dozen networks in the list with full signal strength but won't connect to any at all then connects to my home network again several hours later.
I have switched between the Windows connector and the Belkin one and tried all 6 USB slots with no luck. I contacted Belkin support and they told me to try the device on another computer and see if the problem still happens but I don't have another computer to test it with.
I suspect this is a problem with my Windows installation rather than the hardware or router as my old card would freeze once every couple of days and was only fixed by powering off my computer as Windows was unable to kill the process to restart it.
I am working on my Mom's computer so I will need to download any files to a flashdrive to transfer. Her Compaq CQ5110Y Vista 32/bit pk 1 has lost it's network. I also just discovered a Trojan Horse Dropper in the BSTQBackA file. Did I mention I know nothing about this tech stuff? Norton states some files cannot be healed?

We have various other computers and devices that connect to the router (Thompson Gateway TG782T) without any problems. Just to be sure I've tried reseting the router to factory settings to no avail.
I've tried connecting her computer to the network through the TP-Link Wireless Adpater (TL-WN881ND) that came with her computer AND through a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter (WG111v2). In both situations the network is detected, the network password is requested (and accepted) but the result is always that she has 'limited connectivity', cannot access the internet and cannot detect any shared network drives.
I've tried connecting with an Ethernet cable as well, which her computer does not detect at all ('network cable unplugged').When I try to troubleshoot any of these problems I get a message that says 'The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running'.The guys at the shop where my sister had it built are asking her to bring the computer in with the router becuse they are convinced that the machine is fine, and that the router is at fault. I am unable to connect to the internet through my wireless router. However, I can connect using neighbor's wireless connection and other laptops in my home are able to connect to the internet using MY wireless connection. The problem started suddenly, I used to be able to connect, then I had the problem so I rebooted and that resolved the issue temporarily. I tried disabling the wireless adapter card then rebooting, this did not work. I also unchecked the TCP/IPv6.

I am thinking i need to download the drivers to a disk drive and then transfer them. Another possibility is, i somehow have a rogue virus on my computer ( probably julia who ruins everything )anyways it's called pc optimizer pro. (We use a laptop most of the time which is able to pick it up fine).I've installed the wireless adapter into the computer and installed the drivers however I receive an error message:
"The device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system. Insert of Reinsert Now."
My internet connection goes up and down. After further investigation, I've noticed that as soon as i receive a certain # of packets, the internet connection goes down. It may be a process or application that is taking away these packets.

I have a Cisco 881 Router connected to cable modem. The router is running IOS 15.1.
I have it configured exactly the same way as an 877 router running IOS 12.1 which does not exhibit the problem. Just a standard LAN/WAN config with basic routing/firewall.
When the internet connection is lost for any reason and then re-established the router will no longer pass internet traffic unless I reboot the router.
I used Cisco Configuration Professional to configure the router. The key setting seems to be the Router Static Route. We have a static IP and I set static route with the "make this the default route" checked. Then I set forward (next hop) to the IP my ISP gave me as their gateway.
This is exactly the same way I set the 877 router using the same ISP but in a different office.
Every so often the internet is lost due to power outage or the ISP doing something on their end and every time that happens we have to reboot the router which is quite annoying.
I did not have the "permanent route" check mark checked but I do not have it checked on the router that does not have the problem either so I don't think that's it.
When I set the static route to "interface" then added the static IP of the next hop it will continue to work for incoming connections but not outgoing.
Recently my wirless internet stopped working. I am running a HP dv 9000 laptop. The indicator light always stays amber (instead of turning blue when turned on) on external wirless switch. The wireless adaptor should be a Broadcom 802.11b. This does not show up in device manager, but my computer says the driver for it is installed. In the device manager there is one device with a yellow question mark beside it called "other device". Under this device there are three more devices called "base system device" with a yellow exclamation point next to them

View 3 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago, i noticed that my desktop was unable to access the internet, even though it shows that it is connected. i eventually decided taht it must have been a hardware issue, so i bought a new motherboard. after installing the motherboard, an a fresh installation on Windows, i saw after the drivers were installed that the same thing was happening. I pinged sites, and i got no losses on data. i also did a tracer, and it showed me that it is in fact connecting.
I noticed that when I connect the pc to the network(it is always via cable) it recognizes the network as "network", whereas if i use the same connection for my laptop, it brings up the network as "NETGEAR", which is, in fact, my network's name.
I have a fee pcs at home...all are able to connect to the internet but theres only one thats not able to...the network and connection centre keeps and changing from identifying to not connected. The cable itself is fine.

I can't even register my version of Windows because I can't contact Microsoft for verification, because the connection won't get through. I just got a new laptop. Like, just yesterday, but for some odd reason it can't connect to the internet in the living roomMore Info:Laptop bought yesterday. Absolutely new. Samsung, A6 Vision, Windows 7. It can hold to 480GB I think or at least around and has 6GB Ram. I brought it home, made the default brower Google Chrome and connected it to the home internet and entered in the security key/password, so it's all connected. IN the living room, the connection is really good. All the other laptops there -even my really bad old one can connect fine to the internet. My new one says it's connected, but no internet. But since the other ones get internet, I don't think I need to restart the router -although I did so anyways and it didn't work

I sometimes can't find networks that I know are there but this can be fixed sometimes by restarting. The biggest problem I have is the internet speeds are really slow. I'm running on an N router and I am only getting about 100kb/s when my other laptop is getting about 600kb/s to 1mb/s. I have no clue what is wrong. It is a Dell Inspiron using Windows 7 and the internet has suddenly stopped working on it. It is able to connect to the router fine and says it has a connection but is unable to access anything. And this is accessing the router either wirelessly or wired through an ethernet cable. I know that it is not the router because her roommates are able to access the internet fine and her computer is also unable to access the internet from other networks. Is it possible that the network card in her laptop has died and needs to be replaced? or could it be a corrupted driver? Would using a usb network adapter be a temporary fix? I have searched many forums trying to find an answer but have been unable to.Also a couple times when attempting to see if the wired connection worked I had plugged in the ethernet cable and was able to access google for 5 seconds and then it stopped working, and then unplugging and reconnecting would yield the same results
