Hp Desktop - When Computer Starts Up Internet And Phone Dies
Feb 13, 2011When my Hp Desktop with Vista starts up,... the internet for everyone in the house goes out and the phones go out as well because our modem controls the internet and phone. The modem shows the DNS light blinking. When this Hp desktop is turned off I have internet and phone in the house. Feb 20, 2013For a long time now whenever my home phone is answered my internet connection drops, it happened on my lenovo z575 laptop and i recently built a pc and now use a netgear n-300 wireless adapter and it still happens. I have BT infinity fibre optic broadband and previously had aol broadband and the problem happened with both providers. I was told by bt that it was the wireless adapter in my laptop that was not compatible with the router but that was clearly not correct. The internet drops when the phone is answered and sometimes when it is put back in the holder and sometimes just when it is rung.

Internet Dies On PC Only When Downloading Games?
Apr 30, 2012windows update did its thing but as soon as it finished downloading and started installing my AVG anti-virus pop'd up requesting to move some files to "the vault", when that happened windows finished installing and asked my computer to restart, after it restarted i tried to go on AIM and Ventrilo (aka Vent), here's i knew something was wrong, I couldn't sign in to AIM all it said was "waiting for Network..." and Vent just simply said "unknown last ip address" I went to command prompt > ipconfig where it said connection-specific dns suffix it was blank, for ip address it still showed my ip same for subnet mask there was still some numbers but, for default gateway it was blank, thinking it must had something to do with the drivers window installed I did a system restore to two days ago, after it rebooted I thought I fixed it, I was able to sign on AIM as well as Vent even able to use google chrome and watch a friend stream on live on twitch tv, so calling it a night I shut down my PC and when to sleep, now to the title, woke up turned on PC got on AIM and Vent perfectly tried to play Maplestory (don't judge XD i grew up with that game) but it said I had to download the game, made sense to me I just got the game a last night but just did a system restore to 2 days before so I started downloading the game it would work for a few moments but then my internet would die and the same problem that I described would happen again, and the only way i could get my internet to work on my PC was to restart the computer?
I download drivers from Nvidia website it self so i did and it said my motherboard drivers were out of date, I downloaded the drivers and installed them, the Nvidia guid said it would uninstall the old drivers and restart the computer and install new drivers but, when the computer restarted it said something about there were other wizerd installings ? and press okay to minimize the prosses so I can close those, I tried but it did some kind of loop saying again that it would unistall and install after restarting and again like last time said there were other programs running, this time i clicked exit, I went back to Nvidia site to see if the drivers for the motherboard installed, the versions matched but the site did state "your drivers are up to date" like it normally would just asked if I wanted to down load the driver as if my motherboard was still out of date?

Oct 25, 2012I've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router.It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.

Sep 26, 2012I have two WAP4410N wireless access points powered using Power-Over-Ethernet. Both are running the latest available firmware version (2.0.5.3)They are both connected to the same LAN and broadcasting the same SSID with a WPA2 password.
One is using channel 1, while the other is using channel 11.There is coverage overlap where the signal from both access points hover around -75db to -85db while standing in the same physical location.DHCP is disabled, and is being provided by another network device.
Every day or so, devices can connect and authenticate to the access points, but are not granted an IP address (and subsequently are unable access to the LAN or Internet). For devices that had already retrieved an IP address prior to the issue exhibiting itself, the devices simply stop communicating with LAN and Internet.
However, I can still access each access point's web admin interface from the LAN.
If I reboot both devices, the problem vanishes and devices are once again able to get an IP address and connect to the LAN and Internet.Are these symptoms of signal interference between the two WAPs or is this a completely different issue?
Internet Dropping For One Or Two Connections In House
Apr 24, 2012Randomly the internet connection for either my, my son's , or my husband's pc drops. This also can happen with the X-box. The router lights indicate it is working and the rest of the connections will be fine just randomly any one of ours will fail until we reset the router. Two of the pc's are wired, one is on a plug (devlo) and the xbox is wireless. I phoned BT, our isp, who sent an engineer out. It turned out the BT rep told the engineer I had reported no dial tone on my phone line and if I had allowed them to investgate this fictitious fault it would have cost me £150 for a call out.

Jun 6, 2011yesterday at 6:30 am my internet was working fine.yesterday at 7am it quits working.the computers through the house are 2 desktop PC's, one netbook, and one laptop.the 2 pc's connect to the router via a switch.the netbook and laptop use the wireless router.the wireless router is not specifically just a wireless router, it goes both ways (hardline and wireless)after 7am, the netbook still had connectivity to the internet via wireless even though my laptop did not.the internet is still connected to all of them, browsers like google chrome, firefox, and IE7 do not work. but just like a browser, steam's store will not load.here's the funny part, the netbook still had browsing ability until 7pm last night.we checked all the ip's and MAC addresses on the computers to make sure nothing was conflicting.nothing was.packets were coming in and out at normal rate but none of our browsers worked.we do have comcast, and my father told me that comcast gives you norton for free for using them.i have read on here that removing norton magically solves the problem but 3 of the 4 computers does not run norton. and i also do not see the logic behind this.we have also recieved emails from comcast exclaiming that they have reports of "bot emails" coming from our I.P.'s could this have been an attack on our network or some network virus?

Dec 5, 2012I got an Apple TV a few weeks back and we've been using it a lot, especially to stream Netflix. However, another application that I got it for was for streaming iPhoto slideshows and iMovie stuff to the Apple TV with Airplay's screen sharing. This event scenario has played out several times..... Screen sharing is up and going and it'll be working great. All of a sudden the TV will go back to the main Apple TV menu on its own. Upon further review at this point, NONE of my WiFi (iPhone, iPad, etc.) devices will connect to the network and I have to power cycle the router. Router lights are on, but no one's home. At this point, it'll boot back up and then everything will be fine, at least for a while.Tonight, I was showing vacation pictures to some family and this same process happened twice. Since I can't seem to figure out how to stop playing a slideshow in iPhoto and then start it again in the middle, it's very annoying. Here are some relevant troubleshooting points to consider:
1. This network problem (or something similar to it) has happened in the past, but whatever it is, streaming a slideshow really seems to aggravate it. This seems to be the only scenario that I can do to actually INDUCE the issue. Periods of long uploads or downloads are fine. Streaming audio from one device and similar usage seems to be fine, but this scenario fails pretty much every time, and not necessarily right away.
2. After having this issue tonight multiple times, I stopped trying to stream an actual iPhoto slideshow and just went into the album and scrolled through the pics one by one. I did this for at least an hour with no issue. But with an actual slideshow, it failed twice in 30 minutes or less. And it's happened before tonight as well.
3. It doesn't appear to make a difference what application I'm streaming from on the Mac. Whether it's iPhoto, iMovie, or even Facetime.

I've got a fair amount of devices in my home that use WiFi, but there was nothing irregular going on in the house to generate an excessive amount of internal network traffic or anything like that. My gut says the problem is with the router, but it's only a few months old, and I've updated the firmware to no avail.

I have a TL-WR1043ND v1 with the latest firmware installed TL-WR1043ND_V1_120405.I loose access to the router (can't see web page, can't config, can't restart).I have a Linux server on the Ethernet, and uplink through 200Mbps powerline adapter to the BT Infinity modem. A few other devices on the wireless.The router works well and I prefer it to the BT Home Hub 3 for fiber because it proved to be faster in many cases as tested.But after a few days the web interface becomes inaccessible. It's like the web server died or something. Browser says connection reset, if I try telnet to port 80 says connection refused.Actually I just did a full netcat scan (sudo netcat -z -v -192.168.1.1 1-65535) and all ports say connection refused.Ping works - I can ping it allright.DHCP server works too, just restarted a computer and got IP from the router.Port forwarding works as well and DynDNS seems to work as well as my ISP changes the IP periodically and I can always find the updated one.All works - exept I can't access the router in any way!If I restart (remove power and plug it back in), it boots and I can access the router again.So restarting won't work remotely, I actually have to go home to re-plug it!

Whenever I receive or make a call using my iDECT s2i cordless telephone the internet drops and it takes ages to reconnect. I've checked all the connections and every phone socket has an ADSL filter. I understand that some wireless devices can affect a router and that these are usually 2.4ghz devices but I have no idea if my cordless telephones are 2.4ghz or 5.8ghz or indeed if this is the source of the problem at all.

Connection Dies After Some Time?
Jul 16, 2012I'm having trouble with my internet the past few days, I'm connected to the internet via wifi and after browsing some minutes it will tell me unable to connect (using firefox and other explorers). In order to continue browsing I must refresh the page several times and it will load without pictures.I'm using win7 home premium and it's the only computer that presents this issue. I've tried pluging the computer directly to the router, but it gives me the same results. Also, I've scanned the computer for malware with MCafee, but it shows nothing.

Network Card Dies At Random
Aug 23, 2011At first it seemed to happen everyday at the same time, but now seems completely random (happening twice a day somedays). At some part during the day while the user is busy with this system it drops the network connection. The ONLY way to get it back is by restarting via the reset button. Shutdown or even logoff just hangs. Nothing regarding that card will work or respond, you can not even disable and re-enable. I can however get the wireless to work without restarting. I've done everything I could possible think of including format and re-installing Windows. Something new I've noticed is that the user always has MS Access (in runtime mode) running while network goes down and then you can not end that process.

Jul 2, 2011I will be moving away from my home computer but will still want access to it so I am trying to set up a VPN between it (home computer is windows 7) and my fedora 15 machine. They are currently on the same 192.168.1.0/24 network so I'm wondering if that may be the cause for my troubles.
Here's my setup:
Fedora 15 (192.168.1.3) is running the PPTP server with pptpd and gives 192.168.1.66 to any vpn client that connects to it./etc/pptpd.conf only has "localip 192.168.1.3" and "remoteip 192.168.1.66" options in it /etc/ppp/options.pptpd has "refuse-pap, refuse-chap, refuse-mschap, require-mschap-v2, require-mppe-128, proxyarp, lock, nobsdcomp, novj, novjccomp, nologfd, debug, dump" options Windows 7 (192.168.1.6, 192.168.1.66) is the client and I have it set to use connect to the public IP address of my router, PPTP, require encryption, only allow mschap-v2, don't use gateway in ipv4 properties.Both machines are connected to the same Belkin router (192.168.1.254) and I can ping locally to and from each computer no problem. The problem is my VPN connection is very inconsistent. I will open a ftp connection to 192.168.1.66 from 192.168.1.3, login, start uploading a file, get about 10MB uploaded, and then the VPN connection will die and the upload will fail. But, when I have "ping 192.168.1.66" running while uploading, the connection stays alive.
Dell :: Vostro 220 Integrated NIC Dies
Apr 10, 2009Bought a Vostro 220S about 2 months ago. After about three weeks, while I'm using it, the integrated NIC dies. All of a sudden I get the "Network Cable Disconnected" pop-up. No LEDs lit by the network jack. Contact Dell support who decides it's the motherboard.Three days later, the exact same failure. Contact support again. This time they want me to re-install Windows (yeah...right). I refused since the motherboard fixed it the first time. They finally agree to replace the motherboard again. Using the same router and cable that worked for years with my old computer. After the first failure, I switched ports on the router. While waiting for the motherboard replacements, I had installed an old PCI NIC I had laying around. Worked fine...still is. I'm not about to re-install Windows, which is what I know they'll want. I'll stick with the PCI card. Both of the people at Dell support as well as the tech they sent out told me they've not seen this before.

not to scale and a quick draw the top half of the house is off set from the basement area. i used google earth to estimate the range from the router to the outside area of my wanted coverage area and its roughly 80 feet through 4 walls and the flooring i do not believe theres a single router capable of doing that without dropping some serious cash down.as is all the ports are currently tied up, and id like to expand the number of ports, along with getting wireless to the area i pointed out, i have the capability of pulling hard wire through out the house also.

Of course its hooked up the the modem, but i also have it hooked up directly to my desktop considering the router is on the desk where my computer is.I recently moved to a new house.One of the rooms has a huge brick wall in it, unfortunately the computer is in that room.AND, its on the far left side of the house, so the other side of the wall barely gets any signal (Enough to work, but it bounces and only gets about 2 Megabytes Per Second, which is awful, because the router sends out 20 megabytes per second due to our internet plan.) Now, my room is all the way on the far right side of the house, in my room, i get barely any connection at all, 20% is normal in my room. I have my Playstation 3 in my room, so I had to wire an ethernet cable from the wireless router, up through the attic, to my PS3. I can now get 20 MBPS while playing video games. While that is great, i still don't have a wireless connection back there.
What i want to know is, can i plug in another wireless router to the ethernet cable in my room, sending out another signal. So basically, im plugging up a wireless router to another wireless router, and want them to both send out internet.I plan on getting a gaming laptop in December and will be playing it most of the time in my room. I need to know if this is possible, and if it is, how do i do it?First off, let me state that moving the computer or router in front of the brick wall is completely out of question.Also, know a lot of stuff about computers, but know almost nothing about networking.
