Wireless Internet Drops When Receiving Or Making Phone Call?
Apr 6, 2011
I have an Orange Livebox connected wirelessly to my laptop. Everything's been working fine until the last few weeks. Whenever I receive or make a call using my iDECT s2i cordless telephone the internet drops and it takes ages to reconnect. I've checked all the connections and every phone socket has an ADSL filter. I understand that some wireless devices can affect a router and that these are usually 2.4ghz devices but I have no idea if my cordless telephones are 2.4ghz or 5.8ghz or indeed if this is the source of the problem at all.
For a long time now whenever my home phone is answered my internet connection drops, it happened on my lenovo z575 laptop and i recently built a pc and now use a netgear n-300 wireless adapter and it still happens. I have BT infinity fibre optic broadband and previously had aol broadband and the problem happened with both providers. I was told by bt that it was the wireless adapter in my laptop that was not compatible with the router but that was clearly not correct. The internet drops when the phone is answered and sometimes when it is put back in the holder and sometimes just when it is rung.
I have a 887 setup as a EasyVPN server, and a 861 as an EasyVPN remote - network extension mode with split tunnelling. This works fine - I can ping and connect to machines across the tunnel. However if I setup a VOIP handset to connect across the tunnel it registers and calls work, but drop after 30secs....I know this is normally a firewall or nat problem, are easyvpns firewalled or natted?
I have deployed the NAC Solution. NAC Software version = 4.8.2 and Agent version = 4.8.3.1.The solution is working fine but the Cisco IP Phone CP9951 is getting restart after applying NAC (or port profiles) at some time interval. Time is not fixed but it doesn't seem stable. Sometimes, it is just disconnected while using the Phone and sometimes when you log-off or restart the PC.The Cisco IP Phone CP8945 is working fine in all cases. We are getting the message of "Phone not registered" and active call is getting disconnected.
I got a problem yesterday with a customer that says that the calls from a CISCO IP Phone 7961 to an Alcatel 4018 IP Touch didn't work, well the phone rings but there's no voice; I manage a CISCO ASA version 8.2(1) and I was checking the Inspection Rules in the Service Policy Rules section and when you open the inspection_default at the Rule Actions tab I find that the H.323 H.225 and H.323 RAS box wasn't checked so I ask to the customer to made a test and the same problem happen so I checked both box and again ask to the customer for a test and it works.
I was talking to a partner and he said that maybe this Inspect fix some signaling parameters of this protocol that can't work fine behind of a firewall.
We are receiving a large amount of output drops on 4 interfaces that connect to microwave wireless. This is playing up with our Management system. Saw a bug report but that was for 3750, not the IOS version but was a similar issue. [code] The output errors tend to happen at the same time. All ports are trunks however there are other trunks on the switch that are not having these issues. [code]
I have been experiencing drops in my wired internet connection and a google search brought me to your forums. It seems to disconnect more often either during a call on my voip phone (a snom) or shortly after - as if a surge of usage makes it drop out?
We have an RVS4000 router at two ends of a VPN tunnel. The VPN tunnel is working fine, however a phone at the remote site drops calls, even though they sound clear and unblemished. I have set highest priority on the port the phone is hooked up to at the remote site, and have set a priority for upload traffic on both routers, but the phone stills drops calls after 2 to 3 minutes.
I just a new motherboard yesterday an ASUS P7P55D. Running windows 7 and using ethernet, the internet would cut out after a few minutes and come back again by itself and cut off again. After turning on xbox live i realised that my computer is causing problems for the router and cutting off the connections.
I had a customer call me and her desktop (wired connection only) is sending and receiving packets but she still cannot connect to the internet. Customer has tried power cycling her modem, router and desktop with no avail. Her system is running XP.
I cant connect to the internet. When I use other networks its fine. Also all the computers in this network im trying to connect to can connect and work perfect. I know i have the WPA code right. Its sending but not recieving any packages. The IP address 169.254.140.90 so i know its not working right.
I have this new linksys wrt54gx2, my laptop connects to it, my modem LAN light comes on when its plugged into it via Ethernet cable . I can access my router settings.
My internet connection is continuously transmitting and receiving, even when there is no application running! is there any way to find out what is being transmitted or received and how to reset the connection?
I have a windows 7 laptop and i have bridged my wireless with my ethernet port on it, i have directly connected my ubuntu server to my windows 7 laptop via crossover, and ubuntu says its connected, but it will not recieve internet. I can get 2 windows pc's to bridge successfully, but not a linux machine. Is there some configuration im missing or something that i missed? the goal is to get internet for my ubuntu server.
I have just changed my ISP and received a Thomson TG712 Modem, router and VoIP Gateway. Nice device, but I would like to extend my wi-fi network and connect a couple of PCs to another router in a different area using an almost new Linksys E4200 as a second router.I have already wired a network cable from the TG712 to the location where the E4200 is, tested the connection using a laptop, but cannot configure the E4200 to work receiving Internet service from the TG712.
I have CUWN, WLC 5508 is installed and APs are 1142. Network is working fine but I am facing the problem with Android phone which are not browsing for internet.
Android phones connectes with wi-fi, it takes IP from DHCP well, which is pingable from any node of network. even I got be GUI of WLC on Android, but when it goes to browes for internet the message displayed " Page cannot be disply".
In same scenario if configure the Public IP on Android Phone (Via DHCP or Static) then it runs the internet smoothly.
I have a computer hooked up to the internet with a cable modem via usb cable. The ethernet part of the modem is hooked up to my xbox 360.
I don't have a wireless router or a wireless internet connection but I do have a Belkin USB Wireless Adapter and I read on the web that you can turn your computer into a wireless hotspot if your computer has a wireless card with antennae or a usb wireless adapter.
Example, I have a Nintendo USB Wireless Adapter. All I do is stick it into my computer's USB port and it becomes a hotspot that I use to connect to my Nintendo DS to the internet wirelessly. So I basically thought that my Belkin adapter would be able to do the same thing only with whatever other devices I try, not my DS.
i have to make a wireless network for 48 apartments, thats in 4 floors and the area surface is 400 x 400 meters i want to go with netgear maybe buy 1 router and 2 access points?
I am wanting to make my desktop wireless I have a D LINK dual band wireless router now. My laptop is wireless and works fine my desk top is hardwired to router. Thinking of moving my moden and router to TV and making my desktop wireless and hardwireing my media server I think it called ( still yet to be bought still doing home work on which one to get and how to hook up ) Thinking less signal loss be hardwired to media server. I now have AT&T DSL 1.5 MB upgrading to 6.0 MB to stream netflicks . Do you think 6 MB will steam OK? Should I Go with just a USB adapter or go to PCI internal Adapter? In reading some of the other post seems hit or miss on adapter seeing and working with routher. Is there a brand or type of adapte I should look at? as I said Desktop will now be wireless media hardwire dose this sound like the way to go about doing this? Any media server that seems to work better than others . not doing x box or Wii not a gamer just want to stream Netflix without buffering and as good a picture as Poss.
I installed a wireless adapter on my pc and since then when I play a game online or watch something online there will be times when the sound will be weird and noisy for a slight second along with the slowed visual. Also I noticed that it awakes the wireless printer from sleep mode. Could it the wireless adapter be interfering with the wireless printer? I tried to adjust wireless antenna but it didn't do anything.
So we run an internet connection through a DLINK Wirless router. All of our compters connect fine, as soon I try to connect through my ipod touch the connection drops. I think what happens is that my ipod shares the same ip address as my computer and it drops.
I have 2 routers the first is plugged into the telephone line and has a power-line adapter plugged into it the second router which is downstairs is just to extend the range, unfortunately I have a very poor connection (wireless) and internet often drops out. I want to reset the power-line adapter but but will this mean that the connection will be lost from the second router and it is just my computer that is wrong? My trouble is that I don't think the power-line adapter is working but it might be or... its just that the they both connect between each other wirelessly? Or do they both connect to each other wirelessly? both connections from each router are pretty poor. I have updated my wireless card as well. I am not resetting the power line adapter until I know the internet is going to be fine afterwards as my Dad needs it for his work
I have a new DIR-655: H/W Ver. B1; F/W Ver. 2.00 NA? It is solid as a rock to my wired computers, but the Internet connection (not the wireless signal) to my wireless devices (laptops and smart phones) occasionally drops out for several minutes, many times each day. It is not necessary to reset my router to reconnect; after a while wireless Internet returns on its own. I upgraded from another D-Link router and never had this problem. In my judgment the problem appears to be the router. why the wireless Internet connection might disappear and then reestablish itself?I used an app on my smart phone to select Channel 11. No neighbors have routers close to this channel. My cordless phones are DECT (1.9 MHz). My microwave oven does not cause this dropout.
The DIR-655 wireless settings are pretty standard:
- WPA personal security mode - WPA mode is Auto (WPA or WPA2) - Cipher is TKIP and AES - Group key update interval is 3600 seconds - 802.11 mode is mixed n and g
When this wireless Internet connection dropout occurs, the router's signal strength does not decrease; the Internet connection just disappears. Time after time I have confirmed that the integrity of the Internet connection remains solid on my wired computers and disappears only from my laptops and smart phones.I have checked the wireless spectrum when the wireless Internet connection disappears. There is no other signal, e.g., no neighbor's router on my channel (11), and the strength remains at 5 bars.
So I have a DIR-655 and my internet connection drops every day. I have replaced the DIR-655 with a linksys just to try it and it works fine. This has happened with more than 1 of these 655''s. Also I have clients calling saying the wireless drops and it will not let them reconnect until I reboot the router. I have updated to the newest firmware with the same issues. I know its not bad cause I have more than 1 655 doing the same thing at a different location as well.
At the moment i have 3 routers across the house, each acting as a wifi access point. My problem comes to when i use my phone or laptop, it connect to a random access point doesn't matter of the signal. Is it possible to combine 3 routers as one access point. So that i would connect to one access instead of 1of 3 access points, that would be a strong wifi signal no matter when i am in the house. Something similar to what bit malls or stores have.I have looked at wi-fi repeaters, but they just repeat the wifi and make new access point.
The command that is given returns an error at the letter a in archive. The command I used was: archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp:// obviously with my tftp server info and file name at the end. I logged in with privileged EXEC mode as directed, but archive is not listed when I type ? to get a list of commands. I need to have this AP up and running by Monday.
I'm using a wireless adapter with my xbox because for some unexplainable answer the wired ethernet port quit working, but when my dad uses the internet on his wired pc I get booted off xbox
My Linksys Router WRT54G has recently (yesterday) started dropping the internet after being online for a few hours. The current setup has been in place for several years. I started with the Broadband provider and they verified that the signal and cable modem is working properly. My own tests back this up. At first I simply reset the router. Unplugged it for 30 seconds and plugged it back in. Internet is back. Then I tried resetting the cable modem and the router. This works as well but the problem presists. Resetting the router alone has the same affect. So, something with the router is causing it to drop the internet. The network does not drop however. I can still use my network drive and the computers indicate a network with no internet connection.
