My internet connection is continuously transmitting and receiving, even when there is no application running! is there any way to find out what is being transmitted or received and how to reset the connection?

My nephew's MAC continuously times out when trying to connect to my wireless connection. Details are:
ISP=Orcon
Modem/router=Dynalink: RTA1025WE
No other network equipment.
Wireless connection
Authentication=WPA-PSK
Browser=Firefox
MAC Book Pro, OS=10.6.2
I have a D-Link DWA 510 and it's been perfectly fine, no hassles. Until about a week ago. Since then, not a lot has changed in my computer except for a new PSU/CPU and Keyboard and Mouse. Nothing has changed about the router, it's just the card that's messing up.
What I've tried:
Reinstalling the drivers
Updating
Rolling Back
Changing PCI card position
I'm up for trying many things. I just want some reliability until Saturday/Sunday when I buy my new card.
I have a Toshiba Satellite that I got almost a year ago. I lose connection a lot. I have to often enable the adapter because it has been disabled or when troubleshooting it resets the adapter. We have several other computers on our network that work fine. This is the only one with Windows 7. The router is Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a WAG160N with firmware V1.00.16 (version 1 device).The router is connected via ethernet to my main iMac running Lion 10.7.2, although the issue's I'm having have occurred for some time before upgrading to Lion or its's latest update.Firstly, devices I connect to the router wirelessly such as my iPad and iPhone will allow me to use the internet on said devices for about ten minute then the internet will simply stop. The device is shown as connected (checking the wifi settings on iPad etc show the router is still seen). If I switch WI-FI off on the device, then back on, internet is restored. It's not an internet provider issue as I can use the net all day on my ethernet-connected iMac without a problem.My printer is connected to my iMac via USB and shared with other devices. It is seen on my Macbook which connects wirelessly via the router. If I try to print from the macbook, the print job will not progress until I re-start the router. Likewise, there are applications that I sync between my ipad and iMac via iTunes with my mac connected via the USB cable. The iPad will not bee seen by the iMac unless I re-start the router. My Apple TV will only sync wirelessly with the iMac if I re-start the router.

There is a huge machine which is connected to every apartment of building via a cable modem(Netsys nh-300sp). Here is an image of system. And when I first came to apartment they gave me a username and password which I made login when i firstly opened a page on safari. When I plug in an ethernet cable to my macbook-air it connects and everything s good for a moment then it starts to kick me out randomly and continuously. When I look to Network Diagnostics: ISP is red, internet and network are yellow.I tried also using a manual DHPC address, but then ISP is green but Internet and server are red or yellow. I cant even reach to modems admin panel, maybe because of the system of building.

My boyfriend and I have directly connected his computer to the modem, and the internet is working. I have also called our ISP and asked if there are any problems on their end, and our modem is working fine with no issues. So we had come to the conclusion that our router was at fault. It was a Linksys E1500, we investigated online and found that many people had the same problem and it was solved through buying a new router. We have since bought a new router a D-link N150, it worked for a week and a half, but now our internet is back to disconnecting randomly throughout the day. We have tried resetting the router back to factory settings to an avail.

While the machine runs like an absolute dream, it does seem to have a networking problem that I have been attempting to address for about a week. In my college dorm there is an ethernet port that carries an active internet connection. When my laptop is plugged into the port via ethernet, I receive no connection (well mostly no connection, every now and then I will connect for a split second allowing me to load my homepage, Google). This problem also exists on my dorm's WiFi. My LAN card is a RealTek BGE Family Controller (PCIe)
However, on my netbook (an Asus 1000HE, which I am typing this post on) everything is fine. I am quick to blame the retailer who sold me the G74SX seeing as they replaced the stock WiFi card with a Bigfoot Killer 1102 card, and my first assumption is that something was not installed properly during my laptop's assembly or that I simply messed up a driver update. I became quite frustrated with the whole situation and in order to find a quick solution I formatted the laptop back to factory defaults.
Something magical happened.For about a day and a half, my LAN card worked. I packed up my gear this weekend and headed back home, and at my parents' house my WiFi card worked wonderfully.I thought my networking woes were behind me, but this was not the case. When I returned to my dorm this afternoon, my LAN and WiFi cards began experiencing the same problems they experienced before the reformat. A third variable of some interest is that I brought my wireless router back to my dorm in order to utilize a less-crowded private WiFi spot and discovered that it worked fine and I was able to connect to the internet on my iPad using my router. This evening, however, my router decided to stop carrying an internet connection as well. I can connect to the router itself, but I cannot receive an internet connection, even on the netbook.
I have tried uninstalling/updating drivers for both the Bigfoot card and the RealTek card to no avail. My best hypothesis is that the problem lies in some setting that both the G74SX and the D-Link DIR-655 have in common, seeing as they are the only wired components that aren't receiving a connection.

I had Purchased a brand new TP-Link WifI Modem Router TD-W8961ND with S/N : 12CB5200872 from [URL] and it got delivered few days back. When I am trying to connect it to the internet the modem is not getting connected nor configured. The Power button light, ADSL Light and internet light are continuously blinking and nothing is getting steady. The modem is appearing to be a damaged piece of modem and it is very unfortunate that we have got a modem from flipkart in an unserviceable condition. It came with a warranty of 03 years and I wanted a replacement so that I can use the modem for connecting internet.
I had a customer call me and her desktop (wired connection only) is sending and receiving packets but she still cannot connect to the internet. Customer has tried power cycling her modem, router and desktop with no avail. Her system is running XP.

View 19 Replies View RelatedAfter an upgrade of the WRT120N to firmware Ver.1.0.06 (Build 01) every device I have tried to use WPA authentication with will authenticate / associate with the device then drop the connection just prior to recieving a DHCP address.I have tried a Dell latitude laptop with the broadcom chipset, an iPhone 3GS as well as an motorola with google pad device and all experience the same problems.I have removed all mac address filtering, and re-enabled the essid broadcasting only to have the same problem persist despite stripping everything down to just WPA.

I am directly connected to my router. Lately, I have been receiving high latency spikes and total loss of internet. The problem must be related to my router, because when I connect to the internet through my modem I don't have this problem.
I have a windows 7 laptop and i have bridged my wireless with my ethernet port on it, i have directly connected my ubuntu server to my windows 7 laptop via crossover, and ubuntu says its connected, but it will not recieve internet. I can get 2 windows pc's to bridge successfully, but not a linux machine. Is there some configuration im missing or something that i missed? the goal is to get internet for my ubuntu server.

Nice device, but I would like to extend my wi-fi network and connect a couple of PCs to another router in a different area using an almost new Linksys E4200 as a second router.I have already wired a network cable from the TG712 to the location where the E4200 is, tested the connection using a laptop, but cannot configure the E4200 to work receiving Internet service from the TG712.

Whenever I receive or make a call using my iDECT s2i cordless telephone the internet drops and it takes ages to reconnect. I've checked all the connections and every phone socket has an ADSL filter. I understand that some wireless devices can affect a router and that these are usually 2.4ghz devices but I have no idea if my cordless telephones are 2.4ghz or 5.8ghz or indeed if this is the source of the problem at all.

I have a 1921 router in my end where two ISP's terminate and load balancing is done over the ISP'S. I also have a site-to-site IPSEC VPN connection to remote location. Also I am having to analog phones connected to the network through an ATA. My Call manager is in the peer end and has public IP assigned to it. The IP phones get registered when coonected to general inernet connection.
The loadbalancing and VPN is working fine. Now I need to transmit the VoIP traffic over the VPN. I have configured the same but seems not working. [code]
I am new to the wireless side of Cisco.
My current network has a Cisco WLC 4440 with a number of Aironets connected. I noticed that it says there are about 90% of my APs are rogues. closer investigation in the Rogue APs page shows SSIDs of a few businesses around. When i click on the mac address i see that the rogue is not on the wire but i have a number of APs dectecting each rogue.
Now the question is are my waps transmitting or repeating these rogues? If so how can i prevent it without sending a deauth to their wap which is not part of the good neighbour policy ( as i understand it)?
Not sure if this is part of the same question above too, but i do have a rogue client on an SSID that is not mine but shows up on my AP, what is legally right for me to do to prevent use of my network devices by the external client?
All the lights are on except the wireless one. Wireless network not locatable by laptop even when sitting next to router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a EA4500 and at first I could connect to it through its default ciscoxxxxx ssid on my laptop which is 2.4GHz only. I upgraded the firmware using the PC utility and now I can't find the 2.4GHz SSID no matter what settings I do. I've disabled and enabled it multiple times, changed it to have no security or with security and enabled and disabled it and renabled it. Nothing seems to work, but for some reason the 5GHz side I can connect to using a 5GHz device. I've also tried disabling the 5GHz side, but still no 2.4GHz.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy question is about the maximum possible transmitting power in a Cisco 1242AG-E-K9.I did an update of my AP on a new ios version and since then, the maximum power for me is limited to 17 dbm. I check this within the console and the "show controllers dot11radio0 | include Power:" command. I thought that I had 20dbm before the update, but unfortunately I can't proof this by myself because I have no AP left with the old firmware.
Is it possible that the upgrade did this? I read about the regulatory domains for the transmitting power. I live in Switzerland, so I thought I could use 100mW if I want to. I read it's not possible to use the 100mW at each speed but I think I should stull be able to select the 20dbm/100mW or am I missing something?
The switch has been set to Level 3 Routing. Port 27 has been in use as a Fiber Transceiver with no problems for several weeks. This week I tried connecting a second Fiber Transceiver to Port 28, and it would not work.
Swapped the physical GBIC modules in the ports, and the situation remained exactly the same: Port 27 works, Port 28 would not work.
Connected to the copper-part of the combo Port 28, it immediately connected and worked fine.
Connected an external Fiber Transceiver Box in place of the GBIC in Port 28, and it immediately connected and worked fine.
Swapped the new Fiber jumper (Port 28) with the existing Fiber jumper (Port 27), and the new connection came up immediately and worked fine. The existing connection would not work when connected to Port 28.
By "not working", I am not able to ping across the connection. The link light comes on and blinks. The transmit/receive statistics show as if data is processing on this switch, but on the other side of the Port 28 connection, the switch shows Transmit traffic, but no Recieve traffic.
I'm having an issue with a 2 week old WMP54G pci adapter. The behavior is as follows: I get a successful connection and excellent speeds, but every 10 seconds it stops transmitting and drops off the network for a moment. Then everything comes right back. 10 seconds on, drop, 10 seconds on, drop.I've investigated possible sources of interference, but there aren't any strong networks coming though on the same or nearby channels. Moreover, other devices sitting in essentially the same spot are connected consistently and show no variation in the signal strength.
Other info: OS is Ubuntu 10.10, the machine is a Dell GX270.
Our internet has been acting strange the last couple days, it will just disconnected for like 5-10 seconds, then come back. Happens anywhere between every couple minutes or every 15-30 seconds. There are two computers on the network, and it happens to both computers at the exact same time.

I've got a brand new C887VA-W-E-K9 that is up and running on a BT VDSL connection. That side of it is fine... But the integrated AP module on it keeps reloading.. I can be on the AP console reading the config via 'sh run' and suddenly it'll be loading the OS again... There's no errors logged, no errors on the console or anything... (I also have yet to get the radio working, it starte dbefore I'd finished the config).
It doesn't seem to be anything I'm doing as if I just leave the console, it'll just sit there... reloading every few minutes... (Although sometimes it seems to stay up for longer).
The console just looks like this. WHich is taken from listing the running config and while sitting at the --more-- prompt... Bang...

The send light is steadily blinking. Yesterday I disconnected the cable into my main cable box connected to my tv, so I could move it into a new tv stand I bought, and ever since then I get no Internet connection (tv cable works fine.) I cant see how that made my Internet go out, but maybe it did.
