How do I configure the switch/router so that Vlan 20 only connects to the internet and not the network? I will later want to have a 2nd SSID that I want to connect to both the internet and network.

The current workstations run the following info:123.123.123.xxx 255.255.255.0The new workstations run:100.100.100.xxx 255.255.255.0There is a central switch location using a GE-DSG-244 Layer 2+ Managed switch. There are two remote location using GE-DS-82 Managed Switches.The two networks must remain isolated, yet use the same fiber communications. The central switch connects to the two location using MM Fiber. From my research I believe I need to use the 802.1q standard to allow port trunking between the two switches.

I would like to create 3 x VLANs on an SG 300-28P and have them completely isolated from each other, for example ports 1 - 12 on VLAN 1, ports 13 - 24 on VLAN 2 and ports 25 - 28 on VLAN 3. No communication between any of the VLANs.
Any simplest way to achieve this?

No router, and no internet. I have a SLM 2024 in want to have 4 ports set up with a VLAN. I have another SLM2024 I want to be on the same VLAN some where else. Switch 1 uses port 24 GBIC as and up link port to one of the IDF's. I want to setup an home network with a wireless router and use multiple switches for wired connections through out my home. I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

View 8 Replies View Related i was trying to set up a new SG300-52 L3 switch for switching and Vlan. The problem is that the vlans on this switch cannot get their DNS resolved. Probably a stupid thing i can't get to see, but i think it is a simple solution given switchin is not my expertise.So my setup:
- ISP Wan router: LAN ip 10.0.0.1, DMZ: 10.0.0.2 -> i have to use this router for ISP support. But it suckes, that's why we use own router for firewall, port forwarding etc.
- Nice Router: WAN: 10.0.0.2, LAN: 192.168.1.1
- SG300 L3 switch
This works. I can ping switch, nice router, ISP router and google's ip from VLAN 5.But i cannot ping google using host name. From within SG300 i can. So it has something to do with SG300 not doing DNS right.My Client on VLAN 5 has ip 10.1.1.5 / 24, default gateway and dns pointing to switch: 10.1.1.1.I have put an entry in DNS servers in SG300: 192.168.1.1 active (pointing to Nice router). On client leave default gateway pointing to switch. But put DNS server : 192.168.1.1

View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently am using the SGE2000 switches for our datacentre and they have run great. We are looking at replacing them as part of our normal equipment refresh and have questions about what is the best switch for us. We are looking at upgrading to at least 48 port switches which isn't a huge issue.The main purposes of the switches will be for iSCSI traffic between Starwind SANs and Vsphere 5.1 hosts. We had some latency issues with one of the SGE2000s but otherwise they've been great.
We also will use these switches to handle our feeds from our ISP and our normal interserver communications. We have had DDoS attacks in the past of 40k packets per second and 600mbps and the SGE2000 never even flinched. We don't need it for any layer3 routing (which we use virtualized PFsense for). Looking at the Miercom report the SG200 series looks like it would be fine for us but I'm just worried around the part which mentions it becoame unresponsive in a DoS attack and also whther it may be slower for iSCSI. Both series seem to support flow control and jumbo frames.
I start writing this post telling you that I'm not a qualified network admin, so I beg your pardon if I do not use appropriate terms in my question. Also my english in not so good since I'm Italian and my english in almost scholastic.
This is the "story" :
I bought two switches as described above and actually I have to create 2 VLANS as described below :
VLAN id 2 name "Service_A" ports 1-4
VLAN id 3 name "Service_B" ports 7-9
all other ports can stay in default VLAN1.
my network infrastructure have some other very simple swtiches connected and 1 soho router (static ip 192.168.1.1) with dhcp active and ip pool address released from 192.168.1.100 to 200.
the SG200-26 have static ip 192.168.1.254 and 192.168.1.253

I need VLAN for privacy matter so all computer connected to ports in VLAN2 cannot see nor enumerate PCs and resources on other VLANs, but I also absolutely NEED that all computer in every ports (and every VLAN even default VLAN1) can access the internet.
I am trying to setup an ACL on SG 300 switch. I want to create an ACL that enables hosts on our guest network to obtain IP addresses from a server on our "internal" network but they should not be able to reach any other resorses on that network. I set it up as follow, but it does not work the way i want. I have also bind interfaces to the ACL.

Firewall NAT :
from x.x.2.0/24 to 0.0.0.0/24 should be NAT
from x.x.2.0/24 to x.x.0.0/21 should not be NAT
From all the other configurations, this one is not clear to me. Can this configuration be done on a RVS4000 and where can it be done.
I am using an SRP541W router and i am trying to configure 2 vlans, each one to use its own Wan:Here are the dhcprules and vlans:As can be seen, each one has its own wan interface.
Vlans:As can be seen, each vlan is using its own ports and dhcp rule, so, now they should be separate.
Both Wans are connected: So now (at least as i see things) the two vlans are separate and using different Wan. But the reality is different, everything is going out using Wan1.Also in the Interface Info you can see that the 2 vlans are listed under the Wan1.
The rest of router setting are default.
I used two sf-300 switch and create 4 vlans and intervlan routing is working fine.
Port 1 - 10 -------------> Vlan 1
Port 2 -20----------------> Vlan 2
Port 3 - 30------------------> Vlan 3
Port 4 - 40--------------------> Vlan 4
giga1 -----------------> connected to router (This router used for intervlan routing).
SF-300 Port 1 is connected to Internet Modem. This modem worked as dhcp server also for vlan 1, my problem is that when vlan 1 is not communicate to vlan2,3,4 and 2,3,4 are not communicating.
How i can communicate vlan 1 to 2,3,4 vlan.
how i can connect the modem in switch? Access port or Trunk port ( Presently available in vlan 1 Access port)Any route i need to make? sf-300 or modem or router?
I have a Cisco RV180-K9-NA router. I would like to set up 2 separate VLAN assigned to different ports on the router. I will be using LAN port #1 to communicate with the router. The NIC connecting the PC to the router has multiple IP addresses assigned to it so that I can communicate with the separate VPNs (192.168.1.x for the router; 172.16.10.x for VLAN #1 on port 2; and 182.16.10.x for VLAN #2 on port 3). Network 1 is the computer network, network 2 is the VOIP network, and network 3 is the security camera network. I am trying to determine the best way to do this. I have come up with 2 solutions in my head, but I'm not sure if they will work or not. I would like to get some input. Solution 1:Solution 1 looks something like this. Fiber box -> Router-> 3 switches. There would be one WAN input on the router, that would have a static route to 3 different LAN ports. For example, address 24.244.208.101 would be assigned to LAN port 1, 24.244.208.102 would be assigned to LAN port 2, and 24.244.208.103 would be assigned to LAN port 3 (by assigned, I mean have a static route to it). Is there some type of router that is capable of doing this? Solution 2:Solution 2 looks something like this. Fiber box -> Switch -> 3 Routers. The ethernet cable would run from the Fiber Box to a switch, and then 3 routers would be plugged into the switch. Each router would have the Static information configured in them. Would both of these methods work? If so, which would be the best way to go?

Our old setup was with AT&T, where they provided a managed router which linked to our internal switch and also provided NAT to the internal IP of our email server.Our new setup right now is just the internet coming in through a cable connected to a switch, we were told we needed to provide our own router. Someone donated a Cisco 2900.What should our proper set-up be? Should the internet come in directly to the router and then to our switch, or should it go to the switch they provided, then the router, and then our switch?Also, there seems to be some confusion about whether or not we need anything else to get the internet to work. My router & adaptor are showing green but the Internet is showing red. Its becuz my high speed Internat service is ATT.my.yahoo.com. which comes through IE. On my newer computer all is fine. My IE works good & all is working. but my IE on my older one which runs with the router wont set up.
