Connect Two Computers To Same Internet Connection?
Jan 4, 2012
My laptop is connected to USB modem for internet connection. I would like to connect another computer to same internet connection. So i used LAN cable to establish connection. it worked well for first time. But now it is not connecting. how to connect two computers to same internet connection?
i want to share my internet connection in LAN. i have windows 7 in my system, and in my LAN PC having both XP-SP2 & Win7. I have a Teracom ADSL router (4Port) & D-link 8 Port Switch. i want to share my connection like this :
Router --->My Computer (Host)----> Then other computer in the LAN.
If I do a factory reset on a router, does that mean the computers on the LAN will not be able to access the Internet?but then the router will configure it's self automatically to re-allow connection ?
I was wondering if it is possible to share my internet connection to specific computers on my home network. Both my laptop and desktop computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi router (no internet connection). This network connection is mainly used for file sharing. I want to share the mobile internet connection on my laptop with my pc without giving the other computers on my network access to the internet connection and without disconnecting from the home Wi-Fi router. Is this possible and if so how
My ISP provides static ip based internet connection. I have setup my D-link DWR-113 router to access internet through it. I have also turned on DHCP in the router. But when I try to access internet using both of my computers simultaneously it doesn't work - none of the computers is able to load a webpage. And when I leave one computer I am able to surf without any problem.
I have the DIR-655 Hardware version B1, Firmware version 2.00NA and everything has been working fine for about 3 months. Lately the internet connection to all the computers would just stop. All the computers are connected to the router and the router is connected to the cable modem and their is no indication of a problem. The lights are all on and the router status shows the cable status as connected and the network status as established. I can't open any webpages, or all the ping would time out. It happens on all device, Windows Vista/7 PC, Mac computer, Linux laptop, and iPhone/ iPad. The problem gets fixed when I reset the router or just wait about 5-10 minutes and the problem goes away. That normally isn't a problem, but it's starting to happen twice a day now and it is really really annoying when I'm playing games. I tried the FAQ and searching the forums, but in vain.
my three computers cannot connect to the internet, they were fine last night now it says. cannot comunicate with primary sever, do you think it is my comp or sever.
First 3 days ago i came in to my work and my 2 Desktop computers where not connecting to the internet. After trouble shooting i found that my cell phone and wireless computer would connect. then hardwiring with my cat5 cable my laptop worked as well. i couldn't connect to the router as well from the 2 Desktop computers. restarted every thing router modem computers ext. nothing. Then i tried ping tests nothing could not ping each other or the router. though the network map clealy told me the ip addresses of each computer and that it was connecting. then as though from random i tried again to log in to the router. 192.168.2.1 and one of my computers found it and could then connect to the internet.

I have a dell, toshiba, gateway and they all connect fine.Verizon wireless knows less than I do to trouble shoot this. I need it fixed, and neither computer will work with this device.

I have that same message on this computer also. but I am able to work thru another connection to get online. When I searched the " I P " area, it says " Media Closed ". How do I open "Media" back up to allow hooking up to the internet? I have been reading various sources of information to try and find the answer. I went in to change my IP Addresses and after I did, I closed the page and when I went to check my current IP address and status, there were no changes. I have three computers on my network. Two are wired and one is wireless. I continually run into the probably of getting a limited connection after the computer goes to sleep and I wake it up. I attempt to automatically correct it, but this doesn't work. I try to use the command prompt with ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew and it doesn't work. Then I try to disconnect the adapter and it doesn't work. I also reset the modem and the router with no resolve. Most of the time the only thing that works is restarting the computer. In addition I do use DHCP static addresses for the computers on the network. What is causing this and how do I fixt it without restarting the computer?
we have been having problems with our wireless internet connection for a while now and have even changed provider without success. What happens is that all our computers lose the internet connection from one moment to the next while the signal strength remains unchanged. when you try to sign back into the home network it is basically impossible. When rebooting the BT router it works, sometimes for a few moments only sometimes it lasts.I am wondering if the reason is that the computers are losing their ip address or has it something to do with the security key?
I am trying to set up a connection between 2 pc's. It's a direct cable connection. The problem that I am having is that the connection isn't gigabit. I know both network cards support gigabit. I checked in the device settings and in one pc I can see in the Speed & Duplex the 1Gbps option but on the other pc I can't see that option despite the fact that the network card is gigabit.
I have quite some files to copy from one pc onto another and I really need a good connection between them. I can't really remove the hard drive because it would void the warranty.
Could this be a driver issue or a cable issue? On both pc's I have windows 8.
The network card on the pc that doesn't have the 1 gbps option is an Atheros ar8161 card.
I am working on a business network that was setup by another tech. Basically the connection comes from the modem to a 16 port switch (13 being used), and is going to each computer.. I'm thinking of tossing a router between the modem and switch to see if this works. Basically what it is doing is each computer accesses a database on the server, and occasionally they are losing connection to the database.. I did change all of the stations to static IP as they were all dynamic.

I have a home wireless network and my service provider is Suddenlink. I use a DLink modem and have two Tosiba laptops. All of this has been working fine until this morning when one of the laptops won't connect to the internet. when I run the trouble shooting guides on it I get messages that the problem is that the modem won't connect to the internet. However, the other laptop (this one) is working fine. when I look at the network map i see both computers and a green line to the modem. on this computer, there is also a green line from modem to internet. the other computer shows a res x on the modem to internet line. this is a sudden change i have restarted the computer the modem and the router. I can also conenect this computer to the internet via a mifi that I have but not the other laptop. there are no red x's on any of the hardware when I go to the "manage" computer.
Here is my setup: 1- laptop1 is windows 7 with 192.168.1.1, submask 255.255.255.0 2- laptop2 is windows XP with 192.168.1.2, same submask as above. Laptop1 connects via CAT5 (non-crossover) RJ-45 into a switch (port 1). Laptop2 connects via CAT5 (non-crossover) RJ-45 into port 2 of switch. Both ends of the CAT5 are, of course, connected into each laptop's network connector.pinging resulted in timed out from both.
