I also noticed that Wndows firewall isn't started and it won't let me start it it gives me this...Could not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICX) on local computer. Error 3 access is denied.

System was running fine untill about two days ago. File and print sharing stop working. went to services and tried to restart "Computer Browser". It would not start due to a dependancy. Tried to start "Server Services" Got the following error. "Can not start Server Service on local computer, Error 2:The system cannot find the filed specified". The files srvsvc.dll 95KB 4/14/2008 The file srv.sys 327KB 4/14/2008.If I delete either of these files they are just created again. If I replace them with the new versions they are converted back to these files.I am running XP Pro SP3.
I have AT&T Uverse and VOIP. I can receive calls but when I try to call out many local numbers and 800 #'s I get a busy signal. I called AT&T and they said everything looks ok to them. Could this have anything to do with Windows firewall or modem settings?
my brother's computer has been trying to block numerous websites recently, most notable google/youtube and apple. it doesnt seem to be a problem directly with his firewall, but it's causing many issues. I read another forum post stating to[CODE]
i currently have a windows XP Pro machine alongside a windows 98SE machine. the windows XP machine is connected to my network via a wireless network adapter. But, i need the windows 98 machine connected to the internet as well. (i have to use windows 98 because of a program i use only works with DOS)
I am trying to reconfigure my Boblite modem router to allow basically all traffic through to my computer on my home lan which is running ZA so I can see what intrusion attempts whether directly or indirectly are being made on my connection.I am not having much luck at the moment, have tried turning off the firewall within the router all together and also setting up a dmz for my computer.
How I can stop a local internet connection from using my computer, or the router? I am using high speed through frontier. I have deleted this local internet connection once before. When they or it connects to my stuff, I cannot get online. It says, Unnamed Network - Unsecured Network.Radio type 802.11g with excellent strength.
I have ran speed tests using speedtest.net whilst having my kaspersky internet security 2011 both enabled and disabled. With it enabled, i get download speeds of around 3MbpsWith it disabled, i get download speeds of around 12Mbps3Mbps is awful and loading webpages can take a long time sometimes. What can be done to resolve this problem?
having recently downloaded a bandwidth monitor widget, i notice that something is sending 1.625kb of data, OVER AND OVER. i am experiencing zero issues with my pc functionality, but am concerned about what is sending data out from my pc.in desperation, i tried a 3rd party firewall, zonealarm. even after installing it, the data continues to be sent. i have looked through my running processes, ending several auto-updaters, closed my browser and anything else i can think of that might use my internet.
On connecting VPN, i am getting this warning: Enabling VPN connection will block all traffic that doesn't get sent to this peer. After Yes, it stops all browsing. I want to access internet plus vpn connection.
My computer's virus protection expired so I Googled a free one and downloaded it without doing much research on it. It contained a virus and now it's disrupting my computer. I ran Microsoft essentials security and found malware and it removed all threats. The virus is disrupting my connection to the Google server. I cannot use google web, images, or mail but I can maps. I tried following the steps suggested here but my host file name is different and contains different information.[CODE]
I was trying few days ago a tutorial of SSH tunneling, but I got an error,"server unexpectedly closed network connection", although I did everything like in the video tutorial and port 433 was not closed.
I have a sonicwall tz-170 that has a standard interface. It is the main system with IP 192.168.1.1.Another location using IPs 192.168.0.1 has a dvr (192.168.0.154) with ports 80, 37777 and 37778.I can access them from the main location just fine but setting up a service then a rule does not allow me to connect from outside the network. I assume this is the same for anything trying to reach the other side of the vpn but I'm not sure
Windows 7 I could not able to browse internet, because it showing DNS problem. But I can able to ping my gateway and I can able to get internet in Windows Xp. I am using firewall in my campus. There is any problem in my firewall?
I've got a problem with Norton 360 6.0. Everytime it updates its definitions, my internet disconnects and I have to reboot my computer to get it back. However, every time I try to command prompt a ping, it says I'm connected as does my networking center.
I installed Comodo Firewall today, and I couldn't access my Internet from then. I actually liked it's UI and all and want to keep it. The only something that I felt that might be causing the problem is "Use Comodo Secure DNS Server"? Is it likely the reason to be the cause of the problem?
I'm having some problems with a sonicwall pro2040. The problem is this: I can access the sonicwall remotely, and I can ssh into the sonicwall and ping various websites, and get replies, but my connected PCs (Connected by the LAN port) have no internet access. I have never set up a sonicwall before this one, and I feel like there is something I may be missing. Do Sonicwall devices block WAN access by default? Do I need to configure the default route?
The link to Local area connection on the PC i am working on is no longer showing under Network and Sharing center. However the connection is up and I can access the internet. If I do an ipconfig /all I see the adapter setting as I set them. In device manager the device is working properly. I checked the BIOS and the NIC is enabled
I am trying to connect my WDTV Live to my desktop PC, and I connect to the net through a wireless connection to my router. Because its in the other room, I can't connect my WDTV Live to the router without running cable along the floor. Having said that, its not far away from my desktop PC, so I'm trying to connect them directly via cable. The problem is that my WD keeps telling me that it can't obtain an IP address and I don't know how to fix it or what values to put in.I've tried power cycling, manually setting an IP address (192.168.0.5), using different cables, all with no success[CODE]
I have a home network running all Mac computers (though can run Windows VM if necessary) and a pair of USB printers. The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). I don't have any wired network lines in the home, and am not excited by the idea of running any cables.
My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
how can I set password for my wireless internet? I used to have one, but today I have fully restarted modem and router to factory settings, so password is gone. Now I'd like to set it up again, I have TP-Link router.
i am using windows vista on my laptop.i was using zone alarm firewall, but switched it to windows firewall.after switching, my internet was cutoff. i can see that i am connected to my network, but cant get to internet.when i run diagnosis on my laptop, it gives me three options:
my Ethernet driver is having hardware issue.
my wireless driver is having hardware issue.
ip protocol binding is having issue. check ipv4 and ipv6 settings.
I am having some trouble with the antivirus software.I had AVG antivirus installed but I thought it was causing some problems. So I unistalled it and downloaded a trial version of Bitdefender.Got it installed and found out I can't browse the web via Firefox. So I was trying to go through all the settings in Bitdef. but no luck.Uninstalled BD, rebooted the comp, still no internet. I did clean the registry and spyware as well. But the weird bit is that somehow I can browse the internet using old IE8 (64bit only. 32bit is not working?).I was also trying to re-install AVG but it could not complete as the connection with their server was blocked. It seems like something is blocking everything apart from 64bit ver. of IE8.
I'm finished with formatting my computer to install a clean Windows 7 Ultimate. Then, I connect my PC to the modem I have, to browse the Internet of course. Well, everything runs fine on the first start, let's say I have installed Google Chrome, Microsoft Office, and some other software I still not installed it. And when I restart it and tried to run Google Chrome for example, it said "Google Chrome has stopped working", it's happened to almost every software in my PC, let's say I tried to install VirtualDJ, then the Installer is corrupted, so was the Google Chrome installer and Microsoft Office Installer. Before they are all corrupted, there was a suspicious thing named 'winblmguf.exe' trying to access the Internet through my firewall.
So, I have this router at home a WRT150N. I put in access restrictions so my siblings won't stray onto unwanted pages.I enabled SPI Firewall Protection and what do you know, it worked. The next day though, we didn't have an internet connection.I checked everything with the modem (power cycles, etc.) and then I tried the router. Upon disabling SPI Firewall Protection, the internet connection came back.I tested it yet again, to see if it really was the SPI. Enabled and bam, no internet access again. I made sure to select "Allow" in the Access Restrictions for "Internet access during selected days and hours" making sure also that "Everyday" and "24 Hours" are selected. Now my question is, what do I need to do in order to enable my Access Restrictions without having to lose internet connection via the SPI Firewall?
