Cannot Start Server Service On Local Computer

System was running fine untill about two days ago. File and print sharing stop working. went to services and tried to restart "Computer Browser". It would not start due to a dependancy. Tried to start "Server Services" Got the following error. "Can not start Server Service on local computer, Error 2:The system cannot find the filed specified". The files srvsvc.dll 95KB 4/14/2008 The file srv.sys 327KB 4/14/2008.If I delete either of these files they are just created again. If I replace them with the new versions they are converted back to these files.I am running XP Pro SP3.

My roommate and I are trying to set up the internet, but my computer won't detect the Ethernet Cable. Whenever I go to Network and Sharing Center and try connecting to the internet, the computer simply says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware", even though the light is clearly on and should be working. The cable is also new so it should be fine. I've also been looking around on the internet a bit, and in trying to fix the problem it looks like some of my Services are turned off, which seems to be causing the problem. However, whenever I try and turn them on, I get an error message saying "The dependency service or group failed to start".

I have been having some issues with Windows Audio needing to be restarted every time I log on. Also my theme has changed unexpectedly. I also noticed that Wndows firewall isn't started and it won't let me start it it gives me this...Could not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICX) on local computer. I am Using Windows 7 32-Bit, and my Network usually works fine, and my internet has been working fine up until recently. However about a month (maybe more) I noticed a problem that kept cutting me off occasionally and said Diagnostic Policy was not started, I troubleshooted it and it was fine. Much more recently this has been happening more frequently and troubleshooting it doesn't solve the problem. I can get online for 10-15 Mins then I am cut off again. Restarting the computer often fixes it but not always. I went to Services and found the Diagnostic Policy Service is not running, I press start and receive this error message.
The Diagnostic Policy Service service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by services or programs.I am quite sure my loss of Internet is due to this as this is a network related service and what the troubleshooter always finds to be the problem. Other Computer/Devices in the house connect to the internet fine with no loss of connection so it has nothing to do with that. I have tried various fixes like uninstalling network adapter drivers, and checking permissions in Registry but it has not worked.

I've been working on my laptop recently, once finished i turned my computer off like most people do. After turning it back on hours later, i noticed that my laptop was connected to the internet router but had limited access which ment i could'nt get onto the internet ! So when I went onto Network and sharing center and nothing came up apart from ''the dependency service or group failed to start'' ...I don't want to use system restore or reset tools of windows

DHCP Client and Network Location Awareness aren't working. When I tried to start DHCP Client, I got Windows could not start the DHCP Client service on the Local Computer.Error 5: Access is denied. I checked the dependencies and all of them were on. For Network Location Awareness, I got the error Windows could not start the Network Location Awareness on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service cendor, and refer to service-specific error code -1073741288. One of its dependencies is fine, but I don't know how to check the other two, Ancillary Function Driver for Winsock and NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver. Also, how do I check the event log?Everything on the list that was said to check is running expect these two the lisie was having problems with. I have not had anything with memory recently and have not been able to successfully go through a system restore. I have tried many of the suggestions and just am not sure what to do anymore. The computer works perfectly fine, minus it cannot get on the internet.

I bought a new WRVS400n recently because it had Gigabit speed, wireless n and a built in VPN server. The device works perfect except for the Quick VPN client. I'm a system engineer so I thought I could set it up quite easy just like any other device I configured in the past. Painfull but it isn't like this.
I set up the VPN on the WRVS4400n and generated a certificate. I saved both the client and admin certificate to my pc, I gave them a name to easily make up the difference between both of them. When placing the certificate in the installed QuickVPN folder, it doesn't seem to get recognised by the QuickVPN software. When I try to connect, it says 'Server's certificate doens't exist on your local computer'. I guess the naming convention must meet some kind of format, is that correct? If so, this should have been described in the documentation.
Besides that I checked if the required ports used by the VPN server are open on the public port of the device, that is the case. So It seems I'm quite close to get it working.
The version of QuickVPN I used is 1.4.2.1. The WRVS4400n has the latest firmware loaded.

Day before yesterday my Laptop [Dell Studio] has suddenly stopped working and i have to shut it down forcefully. Then i logged in again but my wireless was not working, i have googled the solutions and tried to start the WLAN Autocofig service but its throwing an error : 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely manner.I have Windows 7 installed on my system.Suddenly the speed of my laptop reduced drastically. i'm trying to setup a local DNS server to manage small office local-only domain names for our servers. i have the DNS working properly (resolving local machines and using the ISP dns if it can't). so i put the DNS server ip into the "Static DNS 1" field of the router settings. the other 2 static dns fields are empty.the problem is that the router is still using the ISP dns server as the primary and my local dns server as the secondary. i verify this in two places. first, if i go to the "status" tab, DNS 1 shows the ISP server while DNS 2 shows my local DNS server. secondly, if i connect to the wireless device with a linux-based machine, the /etc/resolv.conf file shows the nameserver ips in the same incorrect order.

My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.

we are running LMS 4.0 on Windows Server 2008, and just changed the hostname of the server, as the former on reflected it being a test system. However, after rebooting the server (as required by windows), the LMS application did not launch.After rolling the windows server back to the old hostname, the LMS started working again.Why is this? Isnt it possible to change the server hostname after the LMS has been set up for the first time?

My folks have Time Warner (Roadrunner) Internet service. They power-down their Dell every night. When they shut down last night they had no problems and were running Time Warner (Roadrunner). When they booted the computer this morning the computer is trying to connect to Adelphia.
They changed nothing. The wiring to the computer was not compromised in any way.
Time Warner tried to "ping" their modem and could not "see" the modem. They think it is a line problem - but the fact that the computer is looking to connect to an alternate service provider makes me think that it is possibly a problem with a setting in the computer.

Now, when I reboot the machine, the Server service is gone, and I have to get it back buy Uninstalling then Reinstalling Microsoft File and Printer Sharing in the internet connections dialog. Is there some security policy or something that prevent the Server service from running at boot?

And even odder, last year we had THE SAME router and it DID in fact, connect to the Internet, using the same router and all. So my question is, how do I fix this?

I had a virus. I think I got rid of it. Avast scans and boot time scans and Super Anti Spyware and TDSS killer report all clear. However, the network shield of Avast and the Internet don't work. Points to note: 1. In services, the DHCP and DNS cannot be started. I get the error 1075: service has been marked for deletion or one of it's dependancies are missing. (close to that)
I've checked the dependancies of both, and reinstated the ADF module in device manager after selecting the 'View Hidden' option.

How can I tell if the ATT Data Service on my iPad is going through an ATT Carrier Grade NAT router or proxy server? Why I can't tell.
1. iPad does not have an interface that shows the assigned address on the Data Connecton or access to any terminal commands.
2. The reported ATT (Cingular) address is 166.147.103.208 if you use a What-Is-My-IP type of service. On a Verizon (not ATT) iPad I can ping all the way back to the iPad and turning the iPad off stopped the Ping Response . . . but there is no answer when I ping the ATT iPad 166.147.103.208 and Trace Route to the iPad stops answering at the border of the ATT network.
3. If I make a page request on an IIS web server from the ATT iPad, the web server logs 166.147.103.208 (see above) as the source address and logs the iPad as the source device, but 166.147.103.208 could still be an ATT proxy, not the iPad because some NAT routers change the source IP address to themselves.
We want to use an ATT Hotspot as the the permanent always-on home internet service where there is no other option (except satellite). We need dynamic DNS at the home, and that requires a routable public address on the ATT-hotspot. We are guessing the iPad and HotSpot would be using the same ATT network.So how can I tell if the iPad has an ATT address that can be reached from the internet (no proxy's or carrier grade NAT routers)
