Cisco Infrastructure :: 831 - Cannot Backup Config To Local TFTP Server
May 24, 2012I have a Cisco 831 router (c831-k9o3y6-mz.124-5c.bin) that cannot backup the config to a local tftp server. I have seen this behavior on a few different Cisco devices over the years and have never found a solution. The connection is made to the tftp server (in this case tftpd but similar behavior on any tftp server) and a blank file is created on the target machine file system, but the data is never transferred.
The router shows %Error opening tftp://192.168.0.2/router-confg (Timed out) [Failed]
The tftpd log shows 5 repeated attempts at the file write.

No boot system command was configured.So I changed the config-reg of SW1 to 0x2102 and gave boot system command as stated below.When reloaded the switch booted to ROMMON and I had to manually boot the IOS.I want them to boot normally with IOS.Config of SW2 is not changed since relocation. Jan 24, 2013I seem to be having a problem with DNS name resolution after configuring my router (Cisco 3725 running IOS image: c3725-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25.bin) for handling DHCP requests.
Before I made the change, everything was working correctly; I could ping Google.com from a computer inside my LAN and would get response from one of Google's public IP's like normal.
I had a separate DHCP/DNS server running Windows Server 2008 handling the DHCP request and DNS queries.
When I made the change, I turned off the DHCP/DNS server and issued the following DHCP commands to my router:

May 7, 2013I am trying to configure interface vlan1 to get an ip address from dhcp by entering the commnad ip address dhcp ios rejects the dhcp portion of my command as not recognised although it is referred to in Cisco manuals.my IOS version is c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin.I get the same problem when I try to configure ip http secure-server on the switch. Dec 29, 2011I started having connectivity issues between my core 4506E (Sup7E) and Cisco 2960S. There were input and CRC errors on Te int (SFP 10Gb - LRM) on 2960S, which cause the interface to reset and drop connections. While troubleshooting this issue, I have replaced patch cords and also had the tech checking the fiber. He said that there was some residue on one of the connectors, so the light levels fluctuated in 1300nm, but worked fine in 850. Well LRMs are using 1300, so he re-polished the tips, which worked to stabilize the light levels. After all that, I was still receiving the input/CRC errors, but the connection was NOT dropping. As my last resort I swapped the SFPs between the core and 2960, thinking I should start having issues on the core end. Dec 8, 2012I would like to check if it may be possible to hot-upgrade/swap the 4506E power supplies? Based on the configuration guide; I have summarized the steps as follows:
1. Switch has 2 existing power supplies to be upgraded
2. Remove right side/bay 2 power supply and install new power supply
3. At this point; the new power supply will be in err-disabled due to different power supplies on the switch
4. Remove the left side power supply and install new power supply
For item 4; during the removal of the old power supply in bay 1/left side and installation of the new power supply; I am wondering if the switch would lose power even though the new power supply is installed in bay 2?

Jan 25, 2011I had to reset a 6509 MSFC2, using reset command on the switch. However when the msfc2 reloaded it had a different configuration than the starup-config. I have a daily backup of start-up config and it was very different from that. I had to make many changes to bring it back to normal. What now I dont get is from where did the msfc2 got this config file? and how can I avoid this from happening again... I want it to load start-up config when it loads. [code]

The VLANconfig is not collected according to the devicestatus dashboard. i am aware there were a known issue with LMS running on a virtual server and vlan not being able to be collected, is this issue resolved? i have tried the various workarounds with TAC support and it hasnt worked. We have the running and startup config collected for our devices when looking at the device status dashboard. does this mean if a switch crashes we can restore the config to a new switch immediately?
i saw there is a version 4.2. maybe this version resolves the issue with LMS on a virutal server? i cannot find the download to upgrade to 4.2 in the support section though.
