I need to transfer a config from a TFTP Server to a 4507 and a 6513. When I transfer the config to both those switches, does it require a reboot?
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to upgrade my 2950G-24-EI via tftp but it looks like the sw can't transfer any of the files completely or with errors. I downloaded the BIN+TAR files from Cisco (and from another site) matching my Catalyst and opened an TFTP server on my PC. The files are :
c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin
c2950-i6k2l2q4-tar.121-22.EA14.tar

In the process of upgrading the image for all of our floor switches..In total there are 35 WS-3560G-PS switches.
So far I have been upgrading them all to image c3560-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SE2.bin and that has gone well.
But this eve 2 of the switches are extremely slow on the TFTP transfer. Duplexing and links are good back to core.
But when I do a sh ver to compare one switch that is good and one that isnt I noticed this
TFTP Transfer is good on this one - cisco WS-C3560G-48PS (PowerPC405) processor (revision F0) with 122880K/8184K bytes of memory.
TFTP Transfer is slow on this one - cisco WS-C3560G-48PS (PowerPC405) processor (revision F0) with 131072K bytes of memory.
Is there a possibility to transfer files between two N5k's via mgmt0 using TFTP protocol?
Source: One N5k's mgmt0 interface
Destination: Another Nk5' mgmt0 interface
I know when issuing "copy bootflash tftp" or vice versa, I need to specify management VRF. But how do I specify to be TFTP itself sourced from mgmt0 interface in NX-OS? From IOS I was used to use "ip tftp source-interface <interface>", but in NX-OS I have only Ethernet or Loopback as an option.
According to NX-OS Unicast Routing Configuration Guide (Configuring Layer 3 Virtualization) the answer should be in N7k configuration guide, but I didnt find it there either...
I am doing image upgrade on Catalyst 6509-E. During TFTP image transfer to sup-bootflash I always see !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!o!!!!!!!!!! "o" out of sequence packet. Although the image size seems to be correct at the end but there is always some "o" packets.
I am assuming not, but I haven't tried loading with the image after seeing this.
Is there any option to configure cisco 4507 to genrate log alert when cpu utilization or port utilization reaches above certain percentage.

The production switch is running Bootstrap Version 12.2(17r)SX5, while the new switch is running Bootstrap Version 12.2(17r)SX7.
How do i go about setting up a TFTP server from laptop to Cisco ws-C3750 48P Switch, I need to pull the image off the switch and place it on an other switch that has a corrupt image, The switch which is corrupted is the same as above Cisco ws-C3750 48P.

The question I would like to ask is - is it possible to boot the IOS from a TFTP server? If this is possible what configuration do I need on the 6509 to enable this. How does the 6509 know about the TFTP server as an IOS is not installed and therefore it will not have a network configuration

My company has acquired a Catalyst 6513 with a FWSM module installed on it. I have been reading lot of documentation on [URL], but still have some problems configuring the FWSM:
The 6513 has 10 SVIs configured, each of them with an IP address. These 10 SVIs are binded to 10 VLANs which I need to secure. These SVIs are used for routing all the Inter-VLAN traffic inside the switch. The documentation says it is recommended to use just one SVIs for connecting the switch to the FWSM, although you can use more than one using the command "firewall multiple-vlan-interfaces". I don't want to use this command because it seems a pretty more difficult configuration, since you have to use policy routing after using this command (or that is, at least, what documentation says).
When I try to "send" to the FWSM more than one VLAN that are configured as SVIs on the switch I get this error message:
"No more than one svi is allowed, command rejected."
If I delete the IP address of those SVIs, then I can to "send" those SVIs to the switch with no problem at all. But I need the SVIs to have IP address configured, since they are needed for routing Inter-V LAN traffic.
So, the question is: how can I route all the inter-VLAN traffic using just one SVI on the switch? Should I use the FWSM for inter-VLAN traffic routing?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwe have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to send config changes to our syslog server on a 2950, I'm fine with 2960's and 3750's. The Cisco 2955 is using the latest IOS c2955-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin.
Here is what I have added:
logging buffered 64000 debugging
logging console informational
logging monitor informational

The only sylog message I get is "Configured from console by username on vty0 (10.1.1.35)
We had core(4503), distribution(3750), and access switches(2960) in our environment. Currently we configured the clock manually in each switch, but a reboot of the switch resets the clock also. We are planning to make a single switch as a NTP servers and others are clients to synchronise the correct time even after a reboot of the access switches.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am going to creat VLANs very 1st time therefore for test purpose I have following simple scnerio.I have created 2 VLANs , VLAN2 and VLAN3 on Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch. Ports 1-12 is assigned to VLAN2 and Ports 13-24 are assiged to VLAN3. Now I have configured DHCP on Microsoft Server 2003 defining 2 scopes with following configurations.
Scope 1 for VLAN 2--- Range is 172.16.0.17 to 172.16.0.30 with subnet mask=255.255.255.240 . Server IP address 172.16.0.17
( Note: Address 172.16.0.17 is excluded from dhcp server Scope 1 and give to the MS server itself)
Scope 2 for VLAN 3----Range is 172.16.0.33 to 172.16.0.46 with subnet mask=255.255.255.240 .
Now in Cisco 2960 series switches, under Vlan 2 and Vlan 3, I have following configurations...

Now the problem is when i connect a client computer to any port from 1-12, It gets correct IP address from Scope 1 but when I connect a computer to any port from 13-24, it does not get the ip address.
Further I want to do inter VLAN comunication as well for that purpose i Have an ISR 2900 series router. What further configuration i will have to do on router for inter vlan communication.
2950 switch has a IOS on flash , but i would like to set the swith like...
1. switch IOS to be loaded from TFTP server .if it fails
2. Loaded from local flash IOS1 , if it fails
3. IOS loaded from local flash IOS2.
does 2950 switch support this feature.
i want to boot my Router's IOS from TFTP server but when I use the command: boot system tftp c2801-adventerprisek9_ivs-mz.124-24.T7.bin 172.16.10. 200; after that I write-mem, it shows the log:

And when I reload the router, it cannot boot IOS from TFTP Server, sure my TFTP work well and 2801 can ping to TFTP.
How do I enable SSH on 4507. I do not see "ip ssh ..." commands config#ip ssh (I do not see "ip ssh " commnd)
Do i need to enable something else?

I am having a Cisco 4507 switch. The CPU on the switch is running between 50% to 60% constantly. To troubleshoot I collected some logs using debugs & show commands.

I have only configured the IP address on my FastEthernet port. Having many issues with no connection to my pc, finally I found that you must enable the interface 'no shutdown'. Now I have a valid connection
I have made no other configurations on this router, everything else is default.
I can successfully PING from both ends

View 1 Replies View RelatedSSH has been enabled on our one and only 4507 switch for several months and working fine. A few weeks ago the switch had to be reloaded and when it was back online I couldn't SSH to it. When I connected via the console and typed "show ip ssh" it came back saying I needed to generate the keys. Did that and it starting working again. The same switch had to turned off and on the other day due to a power down in the server room and when it came back the same thing happened again!!
