I am having trouble trying to configure my cisco 2509 cisco router for access server. I have two guides shown below: URL and URL
However I am running into some problems. I can go through the second guide up until it asks me to do this command
Step 5: Configure the transport input protocol on the async lines to Telnet.

I cannot put in Transport Input, I only have the option of doing Transport Output let me show some lines from my console:

Im not sure whats going on. I have two routers(cisco 2600 series) plus my 2509 cisco router I am going to use for a access server. I have a two switches 2950 series and I have the access server connected to all of them via a octal cable.
Here is the configuration from the access server:

I was looking for an access server for my Cisco lab, and the 2509-2911 look great. Just a little spendy. I saw that a NM for my current routers would be a bit more.
However, I do have several servers in my rack. Is there a PCI alternative to use a Cisco octal cable to connect? Or would it be cheaper to find a 2509?
I have the 2509-RJ Access Server installed and am able to access it via telnet within my home network. However, when I try to access it remotely, it fails each time I try. I set up a domain through dyndns.org specifically for the rack, the same thing I use for RDP to access my home computer remotely. RDP uses port 3389, which I opened up in the firewall and directed that port to my computer's internet IP. I tried opening up port 23 for telnet acccess to the IP address of the access server, 192.168.1.150. I believe the problem is with the dyndns.org domain I set up. The one I use for RDP has my public IP address attached to it. I tried doing the same thing for port 23 and routing that to the access server and it fails.

Here is what I have added:

The only sylog message I get is "Configured from console by username on vty0 (10.1.1.35)
We had core(4503), distribution(3750), and access switches(2960) in our environment. Currently we configured the clock manually in each switch, but a reboot of the switch resets the clock also. We are planning to make a single switch as a NTP servers and others are clients to synchronise the correct time even after a reboot of the access switches.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am going to creat VLANs very 1st time therefore for test purpose I have following simple scnerio.I have created 2 VLANs , VLAN2 and VLAN3 on Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch. Ports 1-12 is assigned to VLAN2 and Ports 13-24 are assiged to VLAN3. Now I have configured DHCP on Microsoft Server 2003 defining 2 scopes with following configurations.
Scope 1 for VLAN 2--- Range is 172.16.0.17 to 172.16.0.30 with subnet mask=255.255.255.240 . Server IP address 172.16.0.17
( Note: Address 172.16.0.17 is excluded from dhcp server Scope 1 and give to the MS server itself)
Scope 2 for VLAN 3----Range is 172.16.0.33 to 172.16.0.46 with subnet mask=255.255.255.240 .
Now in Cisco 2960 series switches, under Vlan 2 and Vlan 3, I have following configurations...
interface Vlan2
ip address 172.16.0.30 255.255.255.240
ip helper-address 172.16.0.17
interface Vlan3
ip address 172.16.0.46 255.255.255.240

Now the problem is when i connect a client computer to any port from 1-12, It gets correct IP address from Scope 1 but when I connect a computer to any port from 13-24, it does not get the ip address.
Further I want to do inter VLAN comunication as well for that purpose i Have an ISR 2900 series router. What further configuration i will have to do on router for inter vlan communication.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn my core Switch,there are 2 v LAN(V LAN 1 & V LAN 2)my switch is Cisco 4948,so be default ip routing is enable in it. My all servers (DHCP,HTTP,HTTPS) are in v LAN 1 & internet is also in v LAN 1.
My requirement is that v LAN 1 user should not communicate with the v LAN 2 and vice versa. But the v LAN 2 users need an access of all servers and internet which is in v LAN 1. How to configure the access-list. I have try on Packet tracer which i have attached.
note:v LAN 2 user should get the IP from dhcp server which is in vlan1.
I can't figure out how to get the config right for the 802.11n channel to work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure a 3500XL switch (and I know its old). I get to the int fa 0/1 line and thats where it all stops working.
switch#(config-if)#switch port mode access
switch#copy run start
or
switch#(config-if)#switch port mode access
switch#sh run int fa 0/1
It will show the configuration for port fa 0/1 as if I hadn't entered the "switch port mode access" command. Or any other command for that matter. Why the switch is not holding configuration and seemingly loses it as soon as you exit out of each interface?
I have a 1841 deployed as my NAT device towards internet. NAT is setup so that internal addresses can access WWW. I also have some NAT translations opening speciic ports from outside to inside in the form: ip nat inside source static tcp A.B.C.D 443 A.B.C.D 443 extendable.
Now have an outside address/port setup with a public DNS reference and using NAT from outside to get access to the corresponding inside address. It works when being outside the LAN.
Now to the problem: From the LAN side of the router - i cannot access the public name. I can ping it - but my browser dont find the webserver behind the name. Someone told me it should be setup as "local firewall domain" - and i should set this up as "source NAT".
i cant resolve one problem in may 1921 isr router, i have a web server in my internal lan , i set up static nat for accessing that web server from outside and it woks fine but i cannot view that site from internal workstations can you suggest me what to do. as i know when request gets to router it performs static nat and sends packet to the web server, but the server responds with its private source address instead the public address witch workstation expects and connection cannot established.
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday when we run one applcation to access a target server with IP address 10.2.2.13, the application cannot run through and appearing error message related networking.The target server has two network ports whereby another one with IP 10.2.2.14 is running OK with the same application. All these two connections are connected to the same Cisco switch 3750, after the switch then go to Cisco ASA firewall which has no access control rule for this 10.2.2.13 and its subnet, and then the firewall connect directly to the application server.We can ping, remote desktop access and telent port for the application to the target server by using 10.2.2.13.We swapped the cable connection of the ports from one another and try the application again, the IP with 10.2.2.13 is still fail and IP with 10.2.2.14 is OK.We then change the IP from 10.2.2.13 to 10.2.2.12 or 10.2.2.155, all are OK. We changed back to 10.2.2.13, it is failed again.The switch is in running real time production and so we cannot power cycle or reload the switch.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using my 2509 router as an access server for my 3 routers, 1 frame-relay (3640) and 4 switches for the past 2 months and it work great till this morning. As soon as the async lights on when i try to connect, it just hangs. It doesn’t respond to anything. No key hits not even disconnecting the console to where im connecting too. (from router to router) if i reboot the router with out the cord plug in (the async) i can use the router with all functions working great; But as soon as i connect the async cord.
The lights blink and poof router is gone. No response. i just cant figure how from one day to the next it doesn’t work.I haven't tried a different cable yet but i tried disconnecting all console connection and just left the plug in and boot. This works but as soon as i connect to any console port physically it gone. No response?i cleared all my configes and its blank and it still just doesn’t respond as soon as i connect any thing (after configuring all the basic)

How do I make it show all my ports? when I plug in something to port 1-4 it shows me on the log that I plug in to e0. I got port1-4 and 1 wan port.
I was recently given a PIX 501 router. I am very new to the world of Cisco, but want to learn. I got a few things setup on the router but, am not sure how to get it to use my DSL connection. My DSL modem IP is 192.168.2.1. Below is my router config. What more do I need to do? Also, is the outside IP not the IP of the DSL modem?
