I am trying to find out the availability of a router which will allow multiple connections, each with their own username and password and the ability for an administrator to control access.
I have a belkin router that I've been using to share internet connectivity with several devices around my home. It has happily supplied this to an Ethernet connected desktop, Ethernet connected Blu-ray player, and wireless connections to two seperate laptop computers. When I try to add one more Ethernet (wired) connection to the mix, I always run into problems. Although the router has 4 outgoing Ethernet ports, it doesn't like to do more than two. Should I buy a new router? Cables?
We have a ZyXEL (P-2601HN-F1) router and three computers in our house. Currently, we only use cables to connect to the router because we haven't been bothered to setup wireless. However, there's a curious problem where the moment we connect more than 2 devices at a time, the router loses connection to the internet. To be precise, all LEDs are on, except wireless (d'uh) and Internet.
We have a network, with a MAC filter for the internet acces. Every body can just have one MAC adress entry on their name for internet acces . My idea was to give the MAC adress of another router(that i can control), plug the LAN cable in the WAN of the second router, and then connect more computers to that router. Would that enable Internet acces for all the computers behind the 2 router?would it work if i make one computer with an extra network card, register that computers MAC adress and forward internet by the second network card to a router or other computer?
I need to look at options for terminating multple ADSL2+ circuits in the UK.Is it worth investing in a router to terminate multiple connections? Or do you think I could just use multiple 877 routers connecting to a good core multilayer switch?
I am working on a project at my company. In short, there is one PC in the office to which other user must remotely connect to perform certain tasks. The stuff they do must be done from the machine with the specific IP, the IP of that machine, as this is specified in agreements with the companies we work with. So far, we have been using Remote Desktop (our machines are Windows-XP-based PC's), but this is quite annoying when more than one person needs to use the machine at the same time
I have a two broadband (Indian standards) connections that I want to use together. One is a 1mbps and the other is a 512kbps. The config that I have is below.
i'm trying to setup multiple internet connections however the ISP i am using doesnt allow the use of NAT. DHCP and uses the registered mac address as a way to authenticate the account. To compensate for no NAT i use a web proxy feature on my router.[CODE]
The ethernet ports across the entire campus including the halls all host multiple networks via one port. I connect to the port and I get one connection, and my friend connects to get a second connection through the same port, and a third person connected via the same port to get yet another connection. I think there may be 4 connections being hosted through this in total. Now, the university have 3 main streams of internet: 1 for Staff/postgrad, 1 for students, 1 for exchange students. The fourth connection type is intranet with only access to a portal. The purpose of the portal is to submit your mac address for wireless and ethernet to be assigned an IP address for both. The issue we are having is my friend needs to connect to the exchange students connection for actual internet access, but the ethernet cable will only connect her to the portal (all her details have been submitted). I have cycled through every window in the networking control panel and usually issues like this I can resolve within a couple of hours but how to identify other networks that are available through ethernet.
I have laptop with windows 7 ultimate.i have two internet connection avalable...
1> wifi network of my office...which is protected by cyberom..so i cant open facebook and other restricted sites
2> internet through my android mobile...which is dialup connection or through usb tethering
i want to use office wifi for downloading via idm or other download manager and my mobile internet for social networking..or any idea i allow application to connect internet via perticuler network/way..
When I connect 2 laptops to my router, why does the speed/connection get split? I would understand that if the speed was maxed out or something but it's a lame 500 kb/s connection. Do all wify routers behave this way? It's kind of annoying since there's a trafic quota limit implemented and when someone downloads, the other one can't do s^&t? how to handle this?
I am using Cisco VPN client for windows 4.0.5 (C)I use the VPN client to connect to my office from home and to connect to a customer via their VPN connection. Is there any way that I can have these two VPN clients active at the same time instead of needing to diconnect one to connect the other ?
what I want to do is setup a Tablet for use and share my one Internet connection with it and my desktop. I do not want the desktop and the Tablet networked with each other. there is a Tablet on Newegg: Velocity Micro Cruz Reader R103. the details say it's communication is 802.11b/g Wireless LAN. so I copy and paste that on Newegg and get: D-Link DIR-601 Wireless Broadband Router. not sure if that's what i need or what the configuration would be but I kind of know how to set it up.my question is can I connect a Desktop and a Tablet or any PC device to a router like this with out networking the individual units with each other? just to where it serves as more a splitter. is there any wireless alternatives to only "split" the Internet connection and not network the desktop and Tablet?
I use the fibre internet for almost all internet activities since the speed is fast. However, when I do school's stuff, I need to VNC to my lab's server. Hence I need to connect to school internet point. External IP cannot directly connects to my school's server. Therefore, I would need to force Windows (or VNC) to use the connection of the Wireless Ethernet card when I VNC to my lab's server. But I want to use my fibre for all other internet activities.
We are about to install a cisco 2911 router to replace a linux based router.
The Cisco will have 5 gig ports, 4 ports connected to DSL modems each modem connected to a different ISP, and the last port connected to a Cisco LAN switch.
802.1q will be used on the internal router port to split the LAN segments up into VLAN's as the building contains lots of different businesses.
Each customer in the building has there own servers and set of public IP addresses assigned e.g
Customer A - ISP 1 uses 81.34.65.78 NAT'd to 10.0.0.1 Vlan 5 port 25 (SMTP) Customer B - ISP 2 uses 217.23.67.87 NAT'd to 192.168.1.1 Vlan 6 port 25 (SMTP)
and so on
The outbound traffic also needs to go out of the correct DSL line which ever has been assigned to that customer.
Am i right in thinking the only way to do this will be to use "Route Maps" ??
(IP addresses above are made up, or at least not ours)
Everytime I disable SSID Broadcasting 2 extra wireless connections appear available connections list. (See wirelessconnections.jpg) One is blank and one is labeled Other Network. They disappear when I enable SSID Broadcasting. I am not sure why this is happening.
Is there any way to make it so that my computer has two internet connections, so to my router it looks my computer is two separate computers, and would this increase my speed, since my router is made for up to 15 connections and has only 300mb/s to give out, so [would]each computer is[be] only limited to 20mb/s? As of now I have a dlink xtreme-n DWA-552 adapter in my computer.
do not have fast internet service so we must need to combine two or more different internet providers and get one speed kindly reply do you know any router/modem/switch which can do this for us.
How to make 2 (or more) connections work together and increase your final download and upload. You will need the following items
- A PC or server connected at high speed that is greater or equal to both connections speed (from a data center, You can get some very cheap $30 a month, a VPS can be good enough)
- 2 Internet connections at your home (DSL + cable for example)
- A router that supports dual WAN
- A Magic software that I can write for example
So what is needed is a way to split your data using some technology like the concept of RAID 0 (MAGIC software will be here used) and then use both IPs through the router to send the data to the server which will handle your request (it is possible to have a good usage of VPN here to forward all your traffic to the server without worrying about doing much work here). After that on the server you can reverse your RAID 0 data (using the same MAGIC software) and forward your request to the destination site that you want to visit. Same way the downloading will happen when the server receives a reply from the destination site, it will split the data using same RAID 0 technology (using the MAGIC software) and then send the data to both of your IPs. After that on your side you combine the received data (using the software) and you are done. Of course I do prefer the data splitting to happen using some hardware like a router with MAGIC software as it will be much more effective.
setting up a simple internet plan for a place, but a LAN center needs crazy fast internet, faster than most large enterprise class offices that take up an entire floor or two. Otherwise there is too much lag in games like first person shooters. We are expecting to have 60 computers, plus people bringing their own gaming rigs from home and laptops as well, xbox, ps3 and other consoles, all accessing the internet at the same time to varying degrees, with no room for lag. There is a LAN center in california that has 200 or more computers and they pay for 9 t3 lines, which is thousands and thousands of dollars per month. Plus the initial equipment to set that up from what I can find on cdw is many thousands of dollars also. Something like 10,000 for a router with 4 expansion bays, and 4000-6000 dollars for a t3 expansion card, bringing the total to around 22-28,000 for equipment to do just 4 t3's. Plus the monthly cost. Since we don't need all of the traffic to be secured like a high end business class line like a t3, I was considering what it would be like, and how one would set up, having multiple cable internet lines coming in. They make cable wic cards for cisco routers. 4, 50meg cable lines would give us 200 down and 40 up but I don't know how to make that work without having multiple public ip's. I was thinking that if I did have multiple public ip's on the network I could just divide the computers up so that they are in groups, using all of the public ip addresses for gateways, so that the load is split pretty evenly, but still, there should be a more seamless way to do this, I just don't know what it is. At the rate for business cable internet, 4 lines would probably only cost around 700 dollars a month, which is much better than probably 5 grand a month for several t3 lines.
There is a 6500 switch with fwsm. We have extended 2 vlans from the ISP into the FWSM. Also there are atleast 10 other vlans for our internal network. We would like say half of the internal vlans to go out of the 1st ISP vlan and the remaining half from the 2nd ISP vlan. Is there a way we can do this in the FWSM?
Is it possible to increase bandwidth througput on 2951 router if you have 3 WAN connections from different ISP, lets say 12Mbps + 24Mbps + 8Mbps, so will I get 44Mbps internet connection in total? Also, on 887G router, if I use DSL 12Mbps broadband, can I use 3G internet connection constantly, not for backup only. And will I get the total bandwidth output as a sum of two connections?
My phone is a Nokia-N900, and I find the most useful way to interact with it from my PC is by ssh. Luckily it is possible to switch out the usb-networking module in the devices kernel to make it appear to windows as a generic RNDIS gadget. Plugging it into a windows PC I can now ssh into it, I can open an sftp session, everything works perfectly...
Except I can't access the web. I can't view other network resources. I look in the network connections section in the control panel and see my two connections, but I don't see any way to set which one to use for what. Seeing as I only use usb0 for ssh and eth0 for everything else, it seems I need a way to set it up so that usb0 only gets port 22 or something similar.
Is there any way to achieve this, or another method by which I could leave my phone connected to my Pc while using it for other network tasks?
I am a fairly basic configs that I just can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. I have what I would consider a fairly basic config that I just can’t seem to get to work and I am sure it is something I am just not doing or grasping. Basically I have two 3560 switches that I would like to connect together with four 1Gb ports and trunk four vlans across said port-channel, I created the port-channel and set it to switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q I then set all four ports to channel-group # mode on. With that setup I can’t ping from switch to switch on the nonnative vlan.
1. I'm interested if it's possible to block certain contetn only at certain time ? e.g. We would like to block facebook from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00. I was going through cisco manuals but can't find the right answer to this.
2. Cisco 871 has 4 LAN interfaces and one WAN interface. Currently WAN interface is connected to adsl modem in bridge mode and LAN 0 interface is connected to switch.
I'm interested if I could use remaining 3 LAN interfaces for adsl connections same as I'm using WAN interface. Then I would create vlans that would use LAN interface 0. Each of those VLAN's would use different adsl connection.I would assign different IP to each VLAN's so users would be able to change their gateway and use different ADSL connection.
I have 2 internet connections in my office one via Verizon Fios and another one via the local cable company. On the fios connection I have an RV042 VPN router and on the Cable company connection I have an rvs4000 router, I would like to know if there is a way I can connect the 2 so I can share a printer I have on one of the 2 networks from the other network without using the VPN feature, like via an ethernet cable connected between the 2 and some kind of static route maybe?
how i can configure a second ssid for guest access in our environment. this is our network setup prior to this request: Internet----Firewall (not ASA)---ce520---C1131AG and CME router is also connecting to the ce520 switch. we only have two vlans: one for voice and two for data.
Presently, there is no vlan configured on the AP because it on broadcasting ont ssid and wireless users gets IP from a windows DHCP server on the LAN. the configuration on the ce520 switch port for the AP and other switches say access vlan is the DATA vlan which automatically becomes the native vlan for all trunk port connecting the AP and other Stiches to the network.
Now with this new requirement, i have made my research and i have configured the AP to broadcast both the production and the guest Vlans. The two vlans are 20-DATA and 60-Guest. I made the DATA vlan on the AP the native vlan since the poe switch is using the DATA vlan as native on the trunk ports. I configured the firewall to serve as DHCP server for the guest ssid and i have added the ip helper-address on the guest vlan interface on all switches while the windows server remains the dhcp server for the production DATA Vlan. I have confirmed that the AP, switches can ping the default gateway of the guest dhcp server which is another interface on the firewall. I can now see and connect to all broadcasted ssids but the problem is I am not getting IP addresses from both the production dhcp server and guest dhcp server when i connected to the ssid one at a time. My AP config is attached below.
Do i need to redesign the whole network to have a native vlan other nthan the data vlan? Does the access point need to be aware of the voice vlan? Do the native Vlan on the AP need to be in Bridge-group 1 or can i leave it in bridge-group 20?
My question is if I can configure 3 ssid, for 3 different VLAN and add the DHCP address from a WAP4410N AP, when you upgrade to the latest version of IOS I can have this functionality?
I am trying to build a new network from scratch, I have the WLC 5508 w/ Aironet 3600e APs connected to my Netgear Smart Switches and a Linksys RV082 router that I'm using as my DHCP server with several VLANs for several stuff on my Switches.
I have 2 questions:
1. Can I have 5 Interfaces configured on 5 different VLANs, each SSID on each a different Port:
Port 1: Controller management only=> 192.168.x.x /24 Port 2: SSID 1: WiFi Internal=> 172.16.x.x/12 (Radius Auth with no sharing) Port 3: SSID 2: WiFi Internal w/ sharing=> 192.168.x.x/24 (Radius Auth with sharing) Port 4 :SSID 3: WiFi Guest=> 10.0.x.x/8 (Web Auth) Port 5: SSID 4: WiFi IT=> 192.168.x.x/24 ( Radius or certificate Auth with access to the controller management interface)
2. How can I use the Controller as the DHCP server for all the WiFi traffic, and how should that be configured to work with my other DHCP server?
