Dell :: Vostro 3300 Slow Internet After Upgrade To Windows 8?
Nov 2, 2012
I have a Vostro 3300, which was working very well, and when I upgraded my OS from Win7 to Win8 my internet speed through wireless connection became very low, I checked for a driver update but did not find any that is compatible with windows 8. I also tried some old Windows 7 drivers with and without "compatibility Mode" but still not working. I should also mention that when I connect to the internet through Ethernet, I get the full speed.

I have a Dell Vostro 3300 laptop with Windows 7 and ran a Kaspersky Virus Scan which deleted virus' and trojan programs but now my computer says there are 'no connections available'....my WiFi is definitely working as I am able to connect on my phone and other laptop.I have checked my network adapters on Device Manager and they have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, including 'DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card'. I have checked whether the drivers are up to date and it says they are.

I was bought a Vostro 3300 couple months ago and with this, laptop dell dw1501 a/g/b/n wireless network card was provided.
I trust to Dell's specifications and replaced my DSL modem with a new high-end Wireless-N 300 Mbps DSL modem without thinking any compability problem. When I went to home and setup my new modem, my Vostro 3300 connected with only 72Mpbs. I tried to find a solution and find this community topics mentioned below. url...
As you wil see, the dw1501 wireless network card is not support this connection speeds even though the card is advertised as a wireless N card. Some users managed to replace their card with the better ones.

I recently purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7. When I try to load my printer (Dell 924 All-in-one) and wireless printer adapter (Dell 3300) software it says it is not compatible with Windows&. Is there a patch or something that I can download from Dell to fix this issue?

It says it finds no device. All i did was install windows. What else do I need to do for it to recognise the devices are on the system?

Four weeks ago I bought a Dell Vostro 3550 notebook to use it at home. I conntected it via my wireless accesspoint to get access to data on my NAS, which is within my home network. Then I noticed that the connection is not stable, although the computer says "excellent signal". Whenever I access files via explorer on the NAS I loose connection from time to time and the reaction time is very slow (sometimes I have to wait seconds).During search for the reason I pinged directly the access point and saw unacceptable slow response with large variation. I checked the connection with an other computer (running XP), using same position. There it works fine (see below) - stable connection. It seems that the configuration of the access point does not work well with the configuration of the Dell computer - or an hardware fault on the Vostro. Below are the test data and my configuration.
testdata> ping Vostro -> accesspointPinging 192.168.2.120 with 32 bytes of data:....Ping statistics for 192.168.2.120: Packets: Sent = 30, Received = 21, Lost = 9 (30% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 2439ms, Average = 348ms

I am struggling for a windows XP network driver on Vostro 260,I cannot imagine there is no one, but I loaded a driver from Realtek, containing a driver for the reference found in the identification of the interface (DEV_8168&SUBSYS_04EE1028&REV_06).
I installed, but the interface is not starting. What to do?

Have had my XPS One 27 for a few days and the 1703 wireless card has cut my download speeds more than half. Whereas I was getting anywhere from 75 to 80 Mbps on my previous machine with a b/g/n/ wireless card, I am now only able to get 25 to 30 Mbps on this new machine. Nothing has changed on my router, I just plugged in the XPS One 27 and it automatically found the router and I logged in without a problem. The router is the WNDR 3700. I am on a 105Mbps tier and need my download speed restored to what I used to get. Is there a "tweak" or is there a better wi-fi card I can install?

I installed a clean Windows 8 Pro on my Vostro 3460 (HD was wiped beforhand). However, for the WLAN driver is not found. Here is what I did:
- I can confirm that the WLAN component is activated in BIOS. Actually, it worked just fine running Windows 7 until yesterday.
- After a clean Win8 install the missing component is enlisted as "Network Controller"
- Installing the "Dell Dell Wireless 1901 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Dell Wireless 1901 Bluetooth" driver from your website (Network_Atheros_W8_A00_Setup-92GWH_ZPE.exe) didn't change anything,, the device is still missing its driver and thus not working.
- I tried to install the drivers coming with the driver CD for Windows 7. No change.
- I tried to install almost any driver on your web site related with WLAN, Vostro 3460 and Windows 8: no success.

I am unable to install the driver for my wireless device on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP Professional. The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.
My system spec's are as follows:
- Model: Dell Vostro 1500
- Operating System : Windows XP Professional
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- Main memory: 2 GB
- Video card : Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

I have a dell studio 1557 running windows 7. I live in my own apartment with roommates in college, and i've been having some very bad issues with slow internet or constant down time. Here are some key points:
- I have Charter internet.
- My 2 other roommates have NO ISSUES.
- My laptop works in my family's house. They have Comcast. I went on vacation a week ago and there were no issues on the hotel internet. No issues from the school's internet.
- I have been using my android phone as a tether because the internet is more stable. It's slow, but consistent for the most part. This is extra frustrating because I shouldnt have slow internet. And I sure as hell shouldnt be paying for internet I can't even enjoy.
- Charter has replaced 2 routers. Both are brand new. They are net gear. Charter is clueless to my problem.
- I have reinstalled windows. Dell told me to try safe mode. I noticed NO ISSUES WITH STANDARD BROWSING IN SAFE MODE. This leads me to believe it is a software issue.
- The connection is non-existent when coming out of hibernation or rebooting. In the morning, i have to boot up, make my coffee, and only then will it give me access to the internet. Otherwise, page timeouts. It can take up to 10 minutes for the internet to work.
- Youtube and general multitasking is very bad. Slower connection than ever, page timeouts, and I often need to wait for a video/music to buffer before I begin enjoying it.
My laptop has been this way for upwards of 6 months.

I have the same machine, same problems. After a reformat, WindowsXP would not reload drivers (from the OEM software provided by DELL). I reinstalled (in order) with a fair amount of difficulty got them all to load EXCEPT for the network adapter. I've download the adapter software AND driver; still no luck. Still working on this bugaboo. Incidentally, what saved me with the other drivers (yellow question marks on Base System Device controller, ethernet, PCI, SM Bus, etc) is that I had run a Belarc Advisor utility printout prior to the reformat. So now I at least had something to compare the before and after reformat with.

last week i noticed a lot of connectivity issues while surfing the web through wifi. my setup: dell vostro 3550, wireless adapter n1030, win7 64-bit after several attempts of fixing the issue following recommendations wrt the n1030 adapter (eg deactivating bluetooth, changing channels of router to 1 or 11, etc), I decided to complete erase all driver and hardware entries of the blue-tooth wireless adapter (like suggested in this thread: [URL]
afterwards i installed ALL available and latest drivers from dell or/and intel regarding this wifi adapter. the result is that the wireless adapter is again shown in the hardware manager and also in the system information of win7 which is great.BUT, somehow the win7 wifi network software/tools does still not recognize the adapter by the means of unplugging the lan cable i just see the wifi symbol with a red x. also opening the network and sharing console does not show the adapter to me although when clicking on "configure wifi networks" and "adapter properties" it is there and active "ready to use". additionally, the intel wireless diagnosis tool tells me that the adapter must have been deactivated or deinstalled. well, the tool is partially right, but the adapter was reinstalled and shows up in the hardware manager. somehow it missed that point ?

I have a dell vostro 3400, and I can connect to any wifi network, and while other computers can get internet through them, I can only get limited access. Also, I am running connectify(internet sharing program), a virtual wifi router and I can connect devices to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it through Ethernet). Is this a hardware problem? Software, OS? I've had the comp for over a year and it's always worked perfectly.

I have a Dell Vostro laptop running windows 7. My ISP is a company called Scarlet which supply connection via an external modem complete with aerial. When I connect directly from the modem to the laptop via the modem it's fine. My problem is that I bought an Advantek wireless router which a friend tried to install, I'm not sure if he was successful at any point as it was some time ago. However, I am now trying to set the wireless connection up so that I can surf on the laptop and my girlfriend on her ipad in separate rooms. I currently haven't got as far as getting the laptop to work along with the modem and router, I think there may be an IP conflict. i want wireless router to work with an external wireless connection via my ISP?

I'm having the same problem with my Dell Vostro 230 Win7 64-bit Home Premium. Until recently everything was fine but now there is an excellent connection with my new TP-Link TL-WR940N wireless N router but no internet access. The TP-Link router replace a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router which I thought was the problem. I have internet access within Safe mode with networking. Disabling Microsoft security essentials makes no difference nor does removing and re-establishing the network profile. I have internet access via the wireless router and an Android tablet as well as internet access via the wireless router and an internet radio. I suspect there is a (relatively new) configuration problem with the Vostro 230.

I have a Dell Vostro 460 with 4GB RAM running the latest version of Windows 7 Professional (64-bit). So far it’s been ultra-reliable. It, and two other laptops, are connected via network cables to a D-Link wireless ADSL modem/router (DSL-G604T).
However, during the last three weeks when I wake up the computer from hibernation, I am unable to connect to the Internet. The network connection icon states “Not connected. No connections are available”.
The only way I can resume my Internet access is to either re-boot the computer or, more often, turn the computer off and then turn it on again. Sometime the re-booting or switching off and on takes several attempts until the computer re-connects to the Internet. Today, it took 20 re-starts!I also have a netbook which connects to the Internet and my brother’s computer also has no trouble connecting to the Internet using the same modem.

Today after I restarted my laptop (Dell vostro 1400 running windows), I found that I can't open any pages or sites. My wireless utility icon tells me that my laptop is connected to my router, but neither of my browsers (chrome or firefox) will load anything. However, if I turn off my wireless (there's a switch that I can trigger) and try to load a page immediately after turning it back on, then a page will load, though anything after that will not. I'm positive that it's not my router or my internet because my computer and iPod touch connect perfectly fine, it's just my laptop will not.I thought that I might have accidentally gotten malware so I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it found one Trojan, which I removed afterwards, though I don't remember what it's name or type was. I restarted my laptop afterwards hoping that removing the Trojan would work but I'm still having the same problem.

I am trying to access the settings webapge so that I can delete computers from the scan list. When I select the settings link it attempts to open the page but then the lights on the adapter start to flash and it seems to lose the connection with it ....... The other links e.g. status, information and security seem to work OK provided they are aceessed before I select the settings link. One the lights have started to flash I have to switch off the adapter and switch back to restore the connection to the network. The adapter is connected to a BTHomehub. Other than this issue the printer works fine through the network.

I am trying to configure a 3300 Wireless Print Adapter with a NET GEAR WNDR3700 Wireless N Router. During the Configuration if I have no security set up on my network, the 3300 establishes a connection. If I however, turn any form of security on ( WEP, WPA-PSK [TKIP, WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] ), the Connection fails. No security is not an option.
This happened while switching routers. The 3300 worked fine on my D-Link Wireless G router (WEP). I was wondering how to resolve it.?

Daughter is at college with brand new Vostro 3450. Was working on school network during summer but drops the connection multiple times during the day. She runs the Troubleshooting which then allows her to connect and 30 minutes later the connection is dropped again. The laptop works fine when connected to the internet via the ethernet cable. Here is what has been done by the IT support at the school.
1 - Deleted the Intel wireless utility as they thought it was "fighting" with the Windows software for control over the wireless.
2 - Increased the power for the wireless card to "high performance".
3 - Reinstalled Windows 7 to eliminate that there is a software issue.
4 - Replaced the Intel Wireless Card with new part sent by Dell.
Now the IT supports recommendation is to "get a new system" and that perhaps the Vostro's wireless card is "not compatible with their network". For Dell computers they sell the Latitude to the students.
My daugther likes the Vostro. She doesn't want to give it up. Wants the system to work. She had the laptop during the summer session and had problems with connection. The Windows software was reinstalled thinking there was a virus (although no evidence of one) and then she had no connection problems for the whole summer. She came home for 2 weeks and returned back to school and then the system would not work again.
I don't know what to do. Can I buy a USB wireless adapter for her to temporarily use until I can figure out how to fix this problem. Personally, I think there is a design flaw with the vostro.
