I have a Dell Vostro 1500 and I have AT&T wireless internet in my house. My other computers and Roku connect with no problem, but mine even though it says it is connected, is not connected. I have Windows XP the other computer is Vista and the desktop is also XP. Even AT&T came over the house and said something is wrong with the computer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to install the driver for my wireless device on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP Professional. The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.
My system spec's are as follows:
- Model: Dell Vostro 1500
- Operating System : Windows XP Professional
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- Main memory: 2 GB
- Video card : Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
I have the same machine, same problems. After a reformat, WindowsXP would not reload drivers (from the OEM software provided by DELL). I reinstalled (in order) with a fair amount of difficulty got them all to load EXCEPT for the network adapter. I've download the adapter software AND driver; still no luck. Still working on this bugaboo. Incidentally, what saved me with the other drivers (yellow question marks on Base System Device controller, ethernet, PCI, SM Bus, etc) is that I had run a Belarc Advisor utility printout prior to the reformat. So now I at least had something to compare the before and after reformat with.

Since I can't get onto the internet from that computer, where to go to get the drivers for these to download.

(BTW, I saw in the specs of the 1500 that it has Dual Core proccessor, but his is Centerino. How come?)
I formated his computer due to slow-speed among other problems, and did clean install of Win XP Pro.
Now I d/led all the drivers from Dell's site regarding the Vostro 1500, and installed them.
My problem is: Windows doesn't recognize a wireless adapter on the laptop.
Network Connections has only 1394 and LAN options.
In the 'Device Manager' I've got a question mark on "Network Controller" and on "SM channel".
I've tried to manually install Dell Wireless driver - no success.
Tried to set the laptop to ignore the Wireless switch through the BIOS - still havn't got any sign of Wireless adapter in Windows.
BTW - in the BIOS menu - I see "Dell Wireless" under "Wireless" property.
I have Dell Vostro 1500, i was reinstalling my latop today, and when I try to install Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility, there is a error at the end of the installation "Driver is not installed, a problem with this connection has been detected" , the internet is not working.

But now I do not have internet access through this laptop although the network icon shows "connected". I turned it on today and it automatically connected to my home network as usual and when I hover over the network icon it says there is Internet Access but when I open Firefox it can not connect to any websites. I would like to connect my playstation 3 to the internet from my laptop which is connected to a guest network (college dorm: I don't have access to a network key - I use my student ID and password at the launch of the browser to access the internet). Is there any way to do this? I have a Dell inspiron 1500 with Windows 7. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife just bought a new Dell Intel Centrino. I can't seem to get it to connect properly to the wireless router/modem. It is a Netgear cg814wg v2. The wireless status shows that the computer is connected to the internet. But yet the only thing I can seem to do is searches on Google. Any other site that I try to visit does not open. If I plug the laptop into the modem directly with a Ethernet cable it works flawlessly. So it seems that the laptop can communicate with other computers on the network, but I just don't have any internet. Or very limited internet. And I've tried this in both IE and Google Chrome.
I'm not a computer/wireless network genius, but I've spent hours trying to troubleshoot this issue with no success. I've reset the modem. Unplugged the modem. Typed config/all and all the other ones I found suggested online in the command prompt. Checked the settings on the modem itself and on the laptop. I Still can't seem to get it to work. I have 3 other computers in my house that all work just fine wireless. They are all older computers with XP on them. I also found out that the wireless adapter in the laptop is a N 1030 adapter. But I don't know if that is compatible with my modem or not.
Well I became convinced that the problem was with the Netgear itself and I needed a newer model. I contacted Comcast whom supplies the modem for me and told them my situation. She basically told me that I needed to contact Dell Technical Support to see if the laptop was set up or equipped with what it needed to be used with my Netgear setup. Well, she said something that sounded a lot better than that.
I have Win 7 and Win 8 dual booting on my brand new Dell Vostro laptop. The wireless works beautifully while using Win 7, but when I switch to Win 8... the actual Fn+F2 wireless switch has no effect whatsoever! So I know the machine is OK, the network is OK, but what could be making the machine act differently under Windows 8? Device manager and details say the driver is up to date.. However, when I am home, my laptop runs extremely slow, sometimes taking several minutes just to open a simple program like the calculator. Web surfing is useless even with Road Runner. Today after I restarted my laptop (Dell vostro 1400 running windows), I found that I can't open any pages or sites. My wireless utility icon tells me that my laptop is connected to my router, but neither of my browsers (chrome or firefox) will load anything. However, if I turn off my wireless (there's a switch that I can trigger) and try to load a page immediately after turning it back on, then a page will load, though anything after that will not. I'm positive that it's not my router or my internet because my computer and iPod touch connect perfectly fine, it's just my laptop will not.I thought that I might have accidentally gotten malware so I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it found one Trojan, which I removed afterwards, though I don't remember what it's name or type was. I restarted my laptop afterwards hoping that removing the Trojan would work but I'm still having the same problem.

Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. I just thought it to be a small problem and the problem seemed resolved that very day itself on its own.
But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.

I am facing this trouble since i purchased this laptop i have a Dell vostro 2520 running on windows 8 pro X64, so the problem is that whenever i try to install drivers for Ethernet which i downloaded from the drivers and download section of this website it gives me an error "Realtek network controller was not found If in deep sleep mode please plug in the cable" now the thing is that it cannot be a problem in my windows as i was running on windows til few days ago, I got the same problem in windows 7 as well,
I have searched everywhere and i have tried almost every solution i got but to no avail the problem still persist and i cannot use LAN for Internet or file transfers,
P.S:- I looked for the adapter under the "control panel system and security system device manager Network adapters" But didn't found anything there saying Ethernet or something like that.
