I have a dell vostro 3700 and have had it for about 3 years with no problems. Lately it has been picky on when it will let me use my home wifi it will say "restricted use". Then today it stop working all together and says that no network connections are available, but they are because everyone else's computers in my house are working.
View 3 RepliesI bought a Vostro 3700 which i formatted and installed windows 7 using the CD which came with the laptop. I used the drivers CD which also came with the laptop to install the drivers but i am still having trouble with the network controller. On the device manager list it still says its not intalled and as a result i have been unable to use the wireless. When i try to install the wireless drivers an error message comes up saying no compatible hardware found, but the wireless worked fine before the format!

I tried following the installation order as per the following link but I couldn't install the NSS/DSS as I could not find this download for my Vostro 3700. I also read somewhere that it is not needed for Windows 7, so I left it.
I installed the WLAN 1501 Half Mini-Card (4313bgn) (R270598) driver as this is the wireless card that I have and it installs. The problem I have is that the wireless software and windows says my wireless card's radio is disabled and that I need to switch the radio on using the switch on the laptop. This laptop has a physical switch and no matter if I turn it on or off.. the radio remains off. Even the wireless light above the keyboard does not switch on.The thing is, before the hard drive crashed, my wireless worked fine. Is it possible that the switch broke too, or am I missing some kind of driver or software for the wireless switch.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Dell Vostro, running Win Vista with all updates. I have Trend Micro Titanium and Comodo Firewall. I primarily use Firefox (completely updated) but also have IE 9. Until a few days ago I regularly connected to various public WIFIs, by: connecting to the WIFI network, opening Firefox which would then automatically take me the network's (Panera for example) user agreement page, clicking on "I accept" or "I agree" then gaining access to the internet. Two days ago I was at a local establishment where I have connected before. I connected to their network and opened Firefox as usual. Instead of connecting to their user agreement page as usual, Firefox tried to connect to my homepage (Washington Post) and failed.
The network icon in the sys tray showed I was connected to the local network but with local access only. This has now happened three times in three different public locations over the past 2 days. Each time I've successfully connect to the network but when opening Firefox or IE9 I am not directed to the user agreement page and therefore am not gaining access to the internet.Normally in the past once I had connected to the local network and opened my browser Comodo would open a warning window asking me if I wished to continue. This also is no longer happening as Comodo is not detecting me being connected to the internet, I'm sure.

Other laptops connect via wireless to the hub without any problems so it must be a problem with my wireless card. The computer detects the 2.4 GHZ network seamlessly. It is unable to detect the 5 GHZ network.
I have a NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router.
I have no problems connecting to this router with a Studio 15 laptop that I bought in December 2009. The Studio 15 can detect both the 2.4 and 5 GHZ seamlessly. I also have no problems connecting at 270 MB with a work Lenovo XP laptop with a Netgear Wireless-N USB stick.
I bought one from outlet. It has WiMax as an option. It seems it has WiMax, but I can' see any wifi device in Device manager. It is ridiculous. I surprised so I checked my order confirmation e-mail again and again, but it reads "Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6150", not WiMax only.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have a Inspiron 1520 which came with windows Vista and I recently did a Windows 7 clean installation. There were no drivers specified for Windows 7 in Dell Driver Download so I installed Vista drivers, connected to internet via LAN Cable and upgraded most of the drivers.
WiFI networks could be detected when installed for the first time but after a shutdown it never detects again. Sometimes it randomly detects, I tried using the laptop for 2 weeks now and only 2 times the WiFI automatically came up.
There is a switch to pull after turning on WiFI radio, which will display the list of WiFi networks in a window, that Switch is not responding now.
I have just taken delivery of a new Inspiron N5110 with an Intel Centrino N-1030 wifi card. I also have two dual band routers (LInksys WRT600N) in different locations in the house.
My problem is that the laptop is detecting my routers Wireless-G signals but NOT the Wireless-N signals. I have checked to ensure that the N-1030 card has 802.11n Mode set to Enabled and have also tried both setting under "802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4" (i.e. Auto and 20 MHz Only) with no success.
My routers are configured with the Wireless-G signal only on 2.4 GHz and Wireless-N only on 5 GHz. I found this to be the best setting to avoid interference from neighbors wifi and cordless phones and have been happily using Wireless-N with my other Dell laptop with no problems (XPS M1530 with Intel 4965agn wireless card).Does the N-1030 card not work with 5 GHz Wireless-N?
Bought a Vostro 220S about 2 months ago. After about three weeks, while I'm using it, the integrated NIC dies. All of a sudden I get the "Network Cable Disconnected" pop-up. No LEDs lit by the network jack. Contact Dell support who decides it's the motherboard.Three days later, the exact same failure. Contact support again. This time they want me to re-install Windows (yeah...right). I refused since the motherboard fixed it the first time. They finally agree to replace the motherboard again. Using the same router and cable that worked for years with my old computer. After the first failure, I switched ports on the router. While waiting for the motherboard replacements, I had installed an old PCI NIC I had laying around. Worked fine...still is. I'm not about to re-install Windows, which is what I know they'll want. I'll stick with the PCI card. Both of the people at Dell support as well as the tech they sent out told me they've not seen this before.

I recently received the blue screen and had to do a clean install of Windows XP on my Dell Vostro 1520. I then proceeded to install the Dell drivers and downloads in the order according to Dell's website. But the wireless driver continually gave me a Setup.rul 380 error, so I did a manual install of that. Unfortunately something is still incorrect. The internet connects, but the wireless icon at the bottom has a pop that says "Adapter Problem. Driver is not installed." I don't know a lot about computers and I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I can't figure this one out.
