I am implementating wlc 2504 and 1520 ap,i installated wlc and ap are got registered. In WLC i changed parameter as RAP and MAP.
As per doucment i have to enable Zero touch configuration in bridging. But bridging option is not their in wlc, wlc is running on 7.0.220
We are looking to deploy an indoor mesh deployment in an area where radar might be an issue.know that when using 1500 series APs you cannot choose UNII-1 channels even if they are deployed indoors.My question is if you can use a UNII-1 backhaul with indoor APs (3600 series for example) in an indoor mesh deployment.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHere's the current configuration in our organization (which I believe is incorrect):We have a number of Cisco 1500 series AP's (22 in total), that are mounted outdoors to provide seamless WiFi coverage over a large area. Each AP however has its own physical ethernet connection back to the WLC (All the AP's are marked as Root AP's). They are all broadcasting the same SSID. We have tried to stagger the channel selection but because there are only three non-overlapping channels to choose from, and in some areas the density of AP's is quite high, there is multiple places of channel interference. With this configuration we experience 100-150 disconnects from clients every day. (Our clients are mobile so they move throughout the coverage area constantly).
My idea is to switch the AP's to the same channel thereby forming a wireless mesh, use the built in functionality of the 1500 series to use 802.11a as the backhaul, designate one or two AP's as root AP's and wire them back to the WLC. Thereby forming a WiFi mesh, which if I'm not mistaken is the point of the 1500 series in the first place!
I am however completely new at WiFi networks and wondering if I am simply mistaken in what I believe my proposed changes will enable, or if there is a better way to tackle the WiFi topology.
Can I Deployed a wireless mesh w/o WCS? is it necessary? I have 5 1550 AP, WLC (12 AP license) and 1 Catalyst Switch. With all these can I Install a wireless mesh.

There is connectivity between the different sites...but my main issue is, is this option really feasible. I was thinking of a centralized WLC like the 2504 coz of price + 36 APs, 2 at each site. The main worry is the network setup considering the fact that the APs have to communicate with the WLC so unpredictable network issues i believe will have a very huge impact.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to install the driver for my wireless device on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP Professional. The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.
My system spec's are as follows:
- Model: Dell Vostro 1500
- Operating System : Windows XP Professional
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- Main memory: 2 GB

my boss has a vostro 1500 laptop and is constantly losing internet connection. Before losing connection, a little blue world shows up in front of the computer picture in the lower right hand corner and then says *limited access available*, then he can not connect at all. View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Inspiron 9400/E1705 laptop with the Dell Wireless 1500 802.11n WLan card when I try to use the utility I get an error message that the internal settings are bad and to restart the computer to fix. It does not fix this. I am currently using the windows wireless to control the card. Is there a way to fix this, It used to work fine just when I downloaded the R151519 update now even when I use a previous update I still get this error. (BTW, I saw in the specs of the 1500 that it has Dual Core proccessor, but his is Centerino. How come?)
I formated his computer due to slow-speed among other problems, and did clean install of Win XP Pro.
Now I d/led all the drivers from Dell's site regarding the Vostro 1500, and installed them.
My problem is: Windows doesn't recognize a wireless adapter on the laptop.
Network Connections has only 1394 and LAN options.
In the 'Device Manager' I've got a question mark on "Network Controller" and on "SM channel".
I've tried to manually install Dell Wireless driver - no success.
Tried to set the laptop to ignore the Wireless switch through the BIOS - still havn't got any sign of Wireless adapter in Windows.
BTW - in the BIOS menu - I see "Dell Wireless" under "Wireless" property.
The laptop identifies the Verizon-890L-B9CE as a wireless network, but will not connect. I don't know how to upgrade drivers without connecting to the internet.

They are connected to a wired router (BEFSR81) to allow a wireless network to work in conjunction with my wired one. The WRT54GS ran as an access point. The 1500 does not seem to have that option. I have successfully been able to set up the new router and use it with laptops, ipads, etc. Where I’m running into problems is with my Squeezebox. Although I can see the network and enter a passcode into the Squeezebox, it never connects (the light on the Squeezebox is green (acquiring IP address from network). It never gets beyond this point. 1. Any device which is switched off (WiFi turned off) wont be able to connect again without a router reboot. I get a connection timeout error when trying to connect. Happens only when there are more than 3 devices connected. (all my devices are ARP linked to MAC addresses with fixed IP addresses - I thought this would eleminate the problem but not)
2. Streaming videos stop playing after 5 minutes. I have to click on the play button to start the stream again. When I test the internet speed through speedtest.net or speedtest.comcast.net, I get over 40MBPS consistently.
3. The router doesnt recogonize 3TB or above HDDs on either ports
4. As long as all devices connect to one channel (either 5G or 2.4G), the connectivity speed is excellent. The moment a device connects to the other channel, the connection speed fluctuates a lot on both.
I currently work for an enterprise that want to deploy wireless network (6AP for now) and I'm the one who will manage and install it.I had initially planed to deploy Ubiquiti network because I've heard lot of good thing about them. But they did not wait me and bought (crappy?) HP access point (MSM410)
What do you think about HP wireless network ? They did not yet buy the access point controller and I'm not sure they want to buy one.I can't find any review on the HP solutions it looks like no one is using it.
Do you recommend me to continue with the HP solution and buy a HP controller or go with Ubiquiti and rebuy the access points (no so much expensive in comparison with the price of the HP controller alone)
We have a Cisco 1522AG configured as a MAP in our production network. Last week the AP went down. On investigating it keeps rebooting itself. constantly showing 4 orange leds, Maybe cant find the WLC? Is there a way to console into these devices to see whats happening in the background while its booting up or even reset it back to the factory defaults?

I've done all the configuration through my WLC (Flex7500) and the mesh neighborship is up.The problem is not the MAP nor the RAP broadcasts my SSID.I've joined them to the same SSID and nothing.
A customer have a bad coverage in a corner of his branch office. He like to add a mesh AP (MAP) in the near of that corner.
I checked allready the documention about Mesh but i'm not sure if Flexconnect and Mesh works togheter. This MAP is in a branch office and the WLC is in the head quarter therefore he likes to uses Flexconnect togheter with Mesh.
I'm looking for documentation on the Enterprise mesh solution based on 7.0 MR1...In this release e.g 802.11n APs are supported and clean air for the client radio etc...The current Cisco Mesh Access Points, Design and Deployment Guide is based on the previous 7.0 release.Apart from the configuration guide I can't find any additional guides.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to become famillar with Cisco Mesh AP's deployment. As I know RAP's (Roof-top AP's are AP's with Ethernet/Fiber connection to the network). I connected these AP's via L2 switch , they can reach WLC and everything looks fine.
No I want to connect few MAP's to my RAP's. But of course firstly we will need to set-up IP addresses for these MAP's? But how? There is no "configure terminal" option at all ( on mesh AP console) .
