Cisco Wireless :: Point To Multipoint Deployment AIR-ANT24120
Feb 12, 2012
I've been asked to implement a point to multipoint solution which I had never done before. My question is how many non roots can the root support?I am planning to use 1310 bride as root with a AIR-ANT24120 and non roots AP1242 with AIR-ANT2410Y-R they wont be longer than 1 km.
I have a project in an industrial environment which requires high speed wireless connectivity between 6 buildings, one central and five remotes. The maximum distance from the central building is 100 meters (take o look at the attachment diagram).I'm thinking of using the 1252a-n or 1262a-n access point to act as a bridge (root mode) at the central building with 3 omni antennas AIR-ANT5160V-R (6dbi) or 1 omni antenna AIR-ANTNV-R (4dbi).For the remote buildings i'm thinking of using 1252a-n or 1262a-n in work group bridge mode with 1 directional antenna AIR-ANT5160NP-R (6dbi).My questions are:
-Has anybody implemented a similar scenario, point to multipoint bridging with channel bonding at 5Ghz?
-How reliable will be the use of 1252 ap in bridge mode?
-The expected total bandwidth/throughput will be 300/150mbps,so theoritical every bridge will have 60/30mbps available bandwidth/throughput?
-Which antenna model do you suggest fot the central building?
We are starting to greatly increase our access point density throughout our floors and I am wondering if we are using the correct channel assignments. We are using LAP 1140's and 3500's. We have some locations that have have anywhere from 4 to 9 floors in one location. These are consecutive floors that have 8 to 11 APs per floor. There are also other businesses in these buildings that use wireless as well. We use 802.11a/n and 802.11b/g/n. Right now the channels are set to the default, (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 149, 153, 157, 161 for 802.11a) and (1, 6, 11 for 802.11b/g/n). I was wondering that since we are increasing our density whether we should enable other 802.11b/g/n channels outside of 1,6,11. I know the other channels can overlap but with correct placement I am wondering if it would improve our wireless coverage since we wouldn't have 8 to 11 APs fighting for only 3 channels. Any experience with enabling other 802.11b/g/n channels?
I have been trying to make rip work on this frame relay with multipoint configuration (hub and spoke) and I also configured a loopback interface on each of the routers and configured rip with the loopback address. I observed that the routers (cisco 3600 series) are not sending or receiving any RIP updates through their serial interfaces but are sending through loopback interfaces i configured (debug ip rip).I can ping all routers but cant ping their loopback interfaces because RIP updates are not sent or received by them.
R1#debug ip rip RIP protocol debugging is on R1# *Mar 1 00:09:46.759: RIP: sending v2 update to 224.0.0.9 via Loopback1 (1.1.1.1) *Mar 1 00:09:46.763: RIP: build update entries - suppressing null update
Is it possible to configure a Cisco 2801 router with Multipoint Port Channeling? A service provider dropped a 4.5Mbps ( 3x T1s ) to one of our customers without any equipment. They assume the CPE responsible. If so, any links to documentation on this configuration. If not, what device will they need to buy from Cisco that can bundle these 3 T1s together then feed it into their router?
How would I bridge a wireless connection with a distance of 400 feet? Would twoAP1262N-A-K9 be able to make this happen? Or is there another wireless bridge that you all can think of?I would be connecting one AP1262 of off a 3750g switch and at the far end (400 ft aproximately) another AP1262N-A-K9.
I have a custom that needs to deploy a wireless solution, in attach plan, does not want a solution with WLAN controller.I proposed a solution with AIR-AP1024N-E-K9. What solution should implement in order to have a good coverage? Repeater, bridge point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, or something else ?
I am having access point 1240AG and planning to deploy ISE as a exteral radius server. I would like to know how different authorization policy need to configure in AP/ISE. Whether I can use named ACL or VLANs (CoA) as a enforcement types without use of WLC. If yes then how?
I have read in some documents that we should have one Ap for more or less 50 clients. But i also read for example in ap 2600 specs that it support maximum 200 connections per radio. So for example in a conference room (10mx5meter) for 150 users in theory can i have just on Ap2600 for web surfing or i should have 3?
I currently work for an enterprise that want to deploy wireless network (6AP for now) and I'm the one who will manage and install it.I had initially planed to deploy Ubiquiti network because I've heard lot of good thing about them. But they did not wait me and bought (crappy?) HP access point (MSM410)
What do you think about HP wireless network ? They did not yet buy the access point controller and I'm not sure they want to buy one.I can't find any review on the HP solutions it looks like no one is using it.
Do you recommend me to continue with the HP solution and buy a HP controller or go with Ubiquiti and rebuy the access points (no so much expensive in comparison with the price of the HP controller alone)
Is Cisco WCS mandatory when deploying an outdoor enterprise mesh solution? If I am goin to use the 1552E purely as an outdoor access point ,do I really need the Cisco WCS?
Does Cisco have an official number of how many AP541s are supported directly by a UC560? these are standalones and I know they are configured in a max of 10 to a cluster, but how many clusters can you have? We are looking at a hospital installation with one UC560 and 25 AP541s.
I want to install a pair of 5508 to manage the whole wireless solution and I have a few questions regarding deployment, Please refer to the topology. The management and ap manager interfaces are conifgured with the same ip address range and thus the same vlan which is 10.160.254.X/24 also all the APs(1,2,3) in that building have the same IP address range for management which will be manually conifgured. The AP's (4 and 5) on the other building have another range of IP address for management and here is the first question. Will the AP's 4 and 5 join the WLC if I manually configure them to point to it? I know I can group interfaces and use them with the same SSID BUT the WLAN vlan in both sides are different and are separated by a router and hence the next question: Can this be done even if they are separated? and if I can, how is this possible, should I configure a dynamic interface in the WLC with an IP of that network even if it doesn't exists on that side? I'm kind of confused with this.
I am doing a predictive survey for a very large mixed environment facility.I have advised this customer that it would be best to have a professional site survey done and he understands but has requested I do a preliminary predictive survey and recommendation. This will have both open area manufacturing and also warehouse type areas with 18ft racks and cages, The actual ceiling height is approx. 30 ft. but the building steel I-Beams are at 18 ft and would be the mounting height of the AP. I already have several installs in other buildings with the exact same structure and setup using 1242 AP and AIR-ANT2465P-R and AIR-ANT5170P-R patch antennas mounted to a board, pointing down and at 18ft.
My question is: I would like to use either the 3500E or 3600E AP with diversity patch antennas (3600E & air-ant2566 for example) but see that Cisco also recommends the 2dbi stubby Omni dipoles in this type environment. I'd just like to get some opinions and thoughts on AP and antennas.
Q: If i m going to do a Bonjour Gateway deployment, do i still need the vlan select feature on the wism's or is enabling multicast enough?
Details of the Q: I m working with WISM s and WISM2;s, 1130 and 3602 ap;s. Cores are 6509-E's.
i m going to implement a Bonjour gateway (which is an Aerohive ap, no wifi enabled, its just a Bonjour gateway) This ap is connected with a trunk port (to a 6509-E) and has the wifi client vlans on the trunk as allowed vlans. It also has an allowed vlan for AppleTV;s which will be wired devices. The Aerohive gateway gets an ip address in every wifi subnet, so far so good.
I was thinking that if i enable multicast : - globally on the wisms, with mcast-mcast distribution - on the SVI's for the wifi client vlans - on te SVI's of the vlans for cisco aps - on the SVI for AppleTV - SVI for wism management - SVI for the Bonjour gateway
then do i still need vlan select? Maybe a stupid question, but i m not sure how to interpret some things in this document.
Can I Deployed a wireless mesh w/o WCS? is it necessary? I have 5 1550 AP, WLC (12 AP license) and 1 Catalyst Switch. With all these can I Install a wireless mesh.
I am busy setting up a wireless backhaul.. I have the bridge setup using 2 x 3602's ( Root / mesh) configuration. The bridge is self is up. The main idea is to get older autonomous access point (1231) connected to the ethernet and pull that back in to a temporary building. I have groupped the bridge to only have one SSID on it.
The switch port on the pwr inj4 is currently connected to a laptop - Ethernet Bridging is enabled on the mesh port. Now the laptop does get an ip form the dhcp server. This is where my issue comes in. I can ping the mesh ap's IP address, but not past it.
My client would like to have a wireless deployment between several differented offices in the city. There is connectivity between the different sites...but my main issue is, is this option really feasible. I was thinking of a centralized WLC like the 2504 coz of price + 36 APs, 2 at each site. The main worry is the network setup considering the fact that the APs have to communicate with the WLC so unpredictable network issues i believe will have a very huge impact.
We are looking to deploy an indoor mesh deployment in an area where radar might be an issue.know that when using 1500 series APs you cannot choose UNII-1 channels even if they are deployed indoors. My question is if you can use a UNII-1 backhaul with indoor APs (3600 series for example) in an indoor mesh deployment.
I used the AP 1552 Link Calculator to determine the coverage area of my AP deployment, however I have some concerns.I would like to know what the maximum radio range refers to when using an omni-directional antenna. Is this distance the radius or diameter of the coverage area? [code]
I have two Cisco AP 1242G and i'm trying to configurate a Point-to-Point Bridge Configuration to connect two wired LAN. Figure 1.8 [URL] I would connect two wired networks.
I tryed two configurations: Root and Non-Root AP. This way every wired PC on the Root AP can connect to the Access points, but cannot connect to the wired PC on the Non-Root AP.AP and WGB. Even this way the wired computers on one AP cannot connect to the wired PC on the WGB. This way only the wireless client can connect to the wired network. This is my network:
Root Bridge Non Root Bridge 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 Wired clients on the RB Wired clients on the Non RB 10.0.0.100 10.0.0.200
Is any one can configure basic Point-toPoint wireless bridge. I need to connect two simple LAN with Cisco Aironet1310 AP. I required basic configuration with basic authentication between these two devices which is on IOS "123-8.JEA3".
I am currently testing Energywise deployment on LMS 4.0 with the 3 month evaluation. I am running into some issues and have some other queries that i cant find documented or on the forum.i have gone through the prep and upgraded 2 switches through lms which has been successful. i have created my domain, grouped some test endpoints and have been able to push this config out to the switches.I created a policy and have tried to push this out to endpoints but the job keeps failing. there is no error detail on the job failure task. i see that it uses protocol "EnergyWise Domain Query" and not netconfig which lms used to push out initial config? Is there somewhere in the logs i can check what is failing?I know i can apply this manually on the switch but i want to see if i can get lms to do this as i may be something one of our customers may use.
This is the first outside bridge I have ever attempted. These radios are 2000 feet apart, pointed at one another. The first radio has a cat 5 (with POE) to a Windstream 2Wire wireless router.
The other radio has 3 RadioLabs AP's (with POE) connected to it. I have followed the installation guide for the GS200 ( Here) to no avail. I must have missed something but don't know what.
We are currently using Cisco VPN Client. I'm looking to migrate to Cisco Any Connect. Our ASA 5520 has 750 IPSec and 2 SSL license. I also have approximately 40 IPSec site to site VPN's on this. ,Will anyconnect interfere with the site to site tunnels?,If I setup anyconnect with the IPSec instead of SSL do I still need to purchase the premium or essentials license?,Lets say if I do have to get the license and I get essentials will it cause any issues with the site to site VPNs?
My customer has this OOOLD deployment where some AP1231 are still working they are upgrading part of the WLAN to LWAPP but may need to leave some AP in stan alone for a while.I need to configure a new SSID that needs WPA2 enterprise AES but it seems that this version does not support WPA2. If it doesn't, from what version on is supported?
I have a question about my ACS redundancy deployment. I bought three ACS all of them came with base license. but i bought large deployment license my question is necesary to buy the large deployment license to add two seconday ACS to my Primary ACS ? now if I install the large deployment in my primary ACS it replique to other ACS or I have to install first the large deployment one by one (secondary ACS) before to join to the Primary ACS.
Main Site: WLC AIR-CT5508-50-K9 WCS 6.x for 50 APs (32 ) AP 1140
02 Remote Sites : 03 AP 1140 using H-REAP
Now, my company is considering to implement a wIPS solution, so i planned to install in the Main Site a MSE3300 and (01) AP 3500e as a wIPS AP Monitor in the remote sites,
Need to confirm:
A) Can an AP3500 work with HREAP and as wIPS monitor AP at the same time? or in other words, if it is possible to have an AP wIPS monitor far away from the WLC (over the WAN)?
B) What are the requirements of WAN link if I want to install a Centralized MSE 330 Engine, which perform the wIPS solution in all the network.
