Changed from D-Link to Netgear router now only one of two computers cannot see the other. Error shows cannot connect to MSHOME network, need administrative approval. Computers are ethernet connected to the router. Have McAffe and both computers are "Trusted" Can do a search with XP and it shows the missing computer but unable to make a connection.

Buffalo Linkstation HD-H250LAN and Netgear N300 DGN2200v3 ADSL2 Modem Router.
3 PCs connect without a problem, 2 wireless and 1 wired, but cannot get it to recognise the Buffalo Linkstation. Netgear uses 192.168.0.1. but Belkin used 192.168.2.etc.
Linkstation setup says Linkstation not connected, but it is.
I seem to be struggling to connect more than 4 cameras to my (ISP-supplied) modem/router by Netgear CGD24N via WPS. I'm on my 5th camera now (already have 3x 930L and 1x 942L) but the newest 942L just won't connect to the network at the moment and there's definitely no faults here as I swapped cameras today at the local retailer (and got an A3 942L!).I've even tried connecting the camera to my wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) but no luck there.
So far it has only worked twice for short periods of time (enough for me to configure the cameras) but since then I can't actually get it working. I've got a couple of spare wireless routers lying around too and should be receiving a DIR-600 soon (from the Netgear promotion in Australia) which could be useful?
I have a Netgear N600 Dual Band Gigabit Router and my roomate and I both have the wireless xbox and when we connect to xbox live and find a game on call of duty mw2 we lagg our butt off nd we tried changing the channel on the router but it still seems to lag.
View 11 Replies View RelatedLaptop, Desktop with USB stick, and 2 notebooks all were working fine on wireless prior to switching from phone line, to high speed cable connection at router. Have tried reset, unplug power, reinstalled router and everything else I could think of but none of them will connect. Shows a good strong signal from router but will not connect. Re-entered numbers, password etc as well in all other computers. What else to try other than a new router? Could it be coincidence that router decided to quit, around same time as changeover? Cable connections good and main computer connected via cable works ok, just all wireless not working.
Can't log in to d-link either. wrong password,? Type in admin, but won't log on without password and I tried but won't accept . Hitting reset and then retry didn't work either?
I have DIR600 Rev. B1 for about 2 years, and it's been working without a problem.Suddenly yesterday, I could not connect to the internet from my 2 laptop & blackberry.SSID & signal reception looks normal. On checking into the router's web interface, I noticed that the network key was changed into something else.....normal character like y2tz39s.
I'm being very curious. Has it been hacked ? Is it possible?I'm using WAP/WAP2 Security Setting for wireless connection.All other settings seems intact (firewall & even the SSID). Only the password was mysteriously changed. If I consider it being hacked, I wonder why the hacker didn't mess up all other settings ?
I have a D-Link DIR-632 router flashed to DD-WRT.My original setup to my cable modem worked fine, i set up my wireless parameters via the DD-WRT software and everything was peachy until last week when my access (on the ISP end) was interrupted. Time Warner sent out a serviceman while I was at work and apparently he "Changed the IP Address".Now when I try to connect via my router, I get constant DNS errors (Windows 7 64 Pro).

My computer which hosts the Internet connection works fine, all other laptops have now been connected successfully after simply changing the password. However my wifes laptop won't play ball. It is a Samsung R510, with Vista Home Premium OS. It worked fine prior to updating the firmware. I have been through the process of changing the password and have the correct security encryption in place, exactly the same process as with the other laptops.
It then says successfully connected, but shows in the bottom right of the screen, Unidentified network access local only and will not connect when the browser is opened. I have tried to diagnose but the usual windows prompt to reboot both modem and router has no effect. I have set it to private, as advised elsewhere, I have switched the firewall off and removed security software, all to no avail.
I tried the command prompt, then ipconfig/renew. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected. Let me stress that no changes were made to the laptop at all, it is simply not connecting following the firmware update and password change. All other computers, and phones, 6 in total, are all working fine from simply changing the password.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. I look down below and try to connect to the network again but it no longer shows my network anymore. I went into the room of my router and it looked fine. All lights were lit up like they should be. I don't want to turn MAC control on and grant only to listed computers - the list doesn't accommodate enough MAC addresses, and the client has wireless and wired since it's a laptop. I also don't want to set static IPs on all of the devices since some cannot accommodate that feature.I'm thinking that reserving an IP address isn't ultimately the solution either, since assigning the IP isn't going to work if the MAC changes. how to use access control under these circumstances?

I have set up the server (which runs windows server 2008) with an account called "communications" I have named the computer "communications". I go to the system and security>system: computer name,domain, workgroup settings>change settings. I enter all the information correctly, and it tells me it cannont find the network path. The v1.03 firmware file was the same one I previously used, I think. Amazingly, The camera menus are now in French, and I can't find a setting to change it to English.

It was working just fine with MyDLink and locally with DLink-ViewCam software and some local test web pages. However, we have a wireless printer on that router which also uses port 80, so when it was installed we set up a "port forward" for port 80 traffic to it for administration from other subnets. How MyDLink website is able to tunnel through our hardware firewall and the wireless routers firewall to communicate with the camera is not clear to me (perhaps someone can send me a link to an explanation??), but it works...Thus, to allow access to the camera from other subents, I wanted to change the camera's port from 80 to another, say 8181 and set up the appropriate "port forwarding for TCP and UDP. All of the steps below were from a PC within the camera's subnet/router so port forwarding is not an issue

I want to supply this network using Huawei B260a modem (on the Three network).
I currently have this setup; The b260a IP is 10.0.0.1 subnet 225.225.225.0 and has DHCP turned on (range 10.0.0.100 - 10.0.0.200). This is plugged into the internet lan port of the base station wnr2200. The base station IP is 192.168.1.1 subnet 225.225.225.0 and has DHCP turned on (range 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254) The repeater Wnr2200 is automatically an access point and has an IP of 192.168.1.254
This setup works but the speeds are around 1-2mb slower when connected to the netgear network than if connected directly to the B260a.

Now my internet works, but when I went to my D-view cam (this is where the daily footage is stored for security camera DCS-930L), I can't make the connection. It says COM1 is not working. I turned of my pc and unplugged my router when I connected the new modem.
