Netgear - Cannot Connect Computer To Network

Jan 17, 2011

I try to maintain a sizable network at my workplace. We have 10 desktops, 3 laptops (sometimes more) 4 printers/fax, etc.etc. I have just ordered a new HP Pavilion Slim-line S5000 Series with Windows 7 Pro. I cannot get it to connect to the Network. I have set up the server (which runs windows server 2008) with an account called "communications" I have named the computer "communications". I go to the system and security>system: computer name, domain, workgroup settings>change settings. I enter all the information correctly, and it tells me it cannont find the network path. This is happening on this brand new computer, and our old dell optiplex 760 (running windows vista pro). We use a netgear pro-safe 24 port 10/100 switch hub, and a linksys wireless G broadband router model WRT54GS.

Netgear WGT624 V4 - Power Surge - Computer Can't Connect To Wireless

Jul 13, 2011

After a quick power surge forced my desktop to reboot, it can't connect to my wireless network, even though everything else can. It may have been applying windows updates at the time of the surge.

Earlier today I shut down my computer to apply some windows updates. A few minutes after it rebooted a power surge knocked it out for an instant and the computer rebooted again. I don't know if it was done applying the updates but for some reason it can no longer connect to a wireless network. It keeps saying "unknown reason" when it fails to connect. I think I had a static IP attached to it.

My iPhone and iPad can still connect to this network, but this one computer can't. It's a desktop running Windows Vista Home Premium with a broadcom adapter added to it. It's too far away to connect to any wired connection. My router is a Netgear WGT624 v4.

I don't think I can post any IPconfig information here because I'm forced to type this on an iPhone.

Computer Won't Connect To Internet And Can't Dial Into Netgear N600 Router

Apr 3, 2012

I have cable broadband internet. My internet modem is a Ubee D3.0. It is connected to my Netgear N600 Wifi router which have my computer and DirecTV hooked up to it via ethernet. My wifi went down the other day. Devices were connected, but were not getting any internet service. In troubleshooting, I attempted to dial in to the router using as well as, and I could not get into the router. I assumed the router must have crashed, and I only purchased it a month ago, so I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one. I got home and plugged it in, still not working. I can't access it using the above mentioned methods, and the setup software does not detect a router present. I unplugged the router and hooked the computer up directly to the internet modem. Still no luck. The computer does show a network connection in the system tray, but with no internet. I plugged my laptop in to the internet modem, and I am able to get internet just fine from my laptop. I even did a system restore to a restore point last week when I know the internet was working. No luck.

D-link Dcs Network Camera :: Netgear Cgd24n - 942l Just Won't Connect To Wifi Network

Sep 2, 2012

I seem to be struggling to connect more than 4 cameras to my (ISP-supplied) modem/router by Netgear CGD24N via WPS. I'm on my 5th camera now (already have 3x 930L and 1x 942L) but the newest 942L just won't connect to the network at the moment and there's definitely no faults here as I swapped cameras today at the local retailer (and got an A3 942L!).I've even tried connecting the camera to my wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) but no luck there.

So far it has only worked twice for short periods of time (enough for me to configure the cameras) but since then I can't actually get it working. I've got a couple of spare wireless routers lying around too and should be receiving a DIR-600 soon (from the Netgear promotion in Australia) which could be useful?

New Computer Will Not Connect To A Particular Network

Dec 20, 2011

new HP 2000 computer he just purchased. I brought it to my house to set it up. No problems connecting to wifi at my home. Downloaded all the updates and got it ready for his house. When I tried connecting to his network, it kept giving me the network key. I know I was entering the correct information because we had his older computer and I copied the exact thing. I had also made a folder when I set up his other computer with his information for his network in it and I was going by that. I tried to automatically connect and I also tried to manually connect. I deleted the name of my network (that worked) and rebooted. It continually gives me the block to put the password in. I brought it back to my house and the wifi connected with no problems. His old toshiba had no problems connecting to his network. I disconnected it and reconnected it. Is there something about the settings I am not doing? Or is it a firewall setting? Is there something in the modem that is conflicting with the new HP. It's a WAP2 Personal with AES Encryption (did not work on that one), where as my network is a WPA Personal with TKIP Encryption (worked on this one). Will that make a difference and if so what do I do about it?

I can ping the IP and the name of the PC from command line but I cannot access it. I have internet connectivity the whole time regardless and I've tried multiple routers.

Computer Will Not Connect To Own Ad-hoc Network

Nov 25, 2012

I have recently become the proud owner of a Sony Xperia P which I would to be able to connect to Wifi in my bedroom. Unfortunately, as my router's WLAN isn't strong enough to reach my room (I get internet on my laptop via ethernet cable) I need to use my laptop as a hotspot to be able to connect my phone. So I set up an ad-hoc network to share my laptop's internet connection via its own Wifi. I'm pretty confident I followed all the required steps accurately (enabled LAN connection sharing, etc), but when I try to connect to my new ad-hoc network on my laptop's list of wireless networks, I just get indefinitely stuck in the "Waiting for the network..." stage. I also tried with WEP security disabled, so no key was required, but to no avail. I know the laptop's wifi works fine as I can connect to my router (when in range) without a problem. Needless to say, my ad-hoc network is also not yet appearing on my phone's wifi connections.Running XP SP3, with Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN.

Computer Shows That The Network Is Available But Won't Connect

Dec 1, 2012

I have a wireless router. The first time I connected my computer to it, it worked. I went in to change the network password, and after that, it stopped working. Every single other device I have will connect, including other laptops, but this one won't. In the network and sharing center it shows that my network is available, but it will not connect. I have tried everything I can think of. I have looked all over the internet, nd still can't figure it out!!!! My computer's wifi IS on so its not that. The only thing that the trouble shooter tells me to do is unplug the router and restart it and that has not worked after several tries. Also is there a way to reset the computers recognition of networks? Im wondering if that would work if I could completely restart the process again, but I dont know how to get to that. I have a dell inspiron with windows 7.

Can't Connect To External IP From Just One Computer On Network

Feb 7, 2013

From our Exchange server, I am completely unable to communicate with one of our partner's mail server. I cannot ping it by either the host name or IP address. Trace route times out at the final hop. The firewall is disabled, and antivirus (ESET) is temporarily disabled. I cannot access the IP through the web browser either, everything times out. However, every other computer on our network can connect fine. I haven't seen any other problems with any other IP addresses, it seems to be only this one that I can't connect to, and only from our Exchange server. All computers are going through the same gateway, using the same internet connection, and using the same DNS servers. The computer that I'm having the problem on is a static IP. All settings look correct, and match another server that I can access the IP from.I've checked the hosts file for anything, and it is in it's default state.

Cannot Connect Or Share Files With Other Computer On Same Network

Sep 28, 2012

I am trying to transfer files from my laptop to my desktop, but when I open the 'network' folder from the start menu to access the desktop from the laptop, the desktop computer is not shown. I ensured that the workgroup names are the same, all sharing is turned on on both computers in Network and Sharing Center, since it is a private network, I checked the router settings and nothing seems to be wrong. The desktop is running Windows Vista Business x86 and the laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, so there is no way to make a Homegroup connection. However, I can see the laptop computer from the desktop's network folder. I click on it to gain access, but I get an error message: "Network Error, Windows cannot access \****-PC, check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found." have checked all wiring, router settings, and nic card settings, have done a successful ping, even Network and Sharing Center, I have also checked sharing permissions and permission levels, I see nothing that could possibly affect the access of the computers.

The only thing I can think of is that when I click on the 'Network ID' button under the Computer Name tab in System Properties on the desktop, it asks join a domain or workgroup, it will not let me save the selection "This is a home computer; it's not part of a business network," that may or may not be the issue, because it will only remain on "This computer is part of a business network" probably because I am running Windows Vista Business.
