Changed Modem To Zoom 5241 And It Will Not Connect?
Jul 4, 2011
I decided to get a faster modem since we are not streaming a lot more and started on the XBOX Live. I got a Zoom 5241 which seemed to have some good specs for what I need. I turned of my pc and unplugged my router when I connected the new modem. Before I connected the coax and ethernet, I held down the reset button, made all connections, waited 3 min., plugged in router...waited...powered up pc. Modem lights keeps cycling, DS flashes a while-then solid then US flashed-solid, then Online flashes-never solid and starts all over. Link light is continuously lit. I tried /renew, nothing.
My internet connection drops every 10-30 minutes and reconnects. The modem seems to reset (every light except the power one). I have a Zoom model 5241 modem. Additionally, I cannot access my modem's status page [URL]. It's as if I'm trying to access a site that doesn't exist. Comcast sent a tech who replaced a splitter, but that didn't work.
Then I tried changing the subnet mask through lan settings in ipv4 by connecting the Ethernet cable but still no internet n no connection to the modem settings page as well.
Buffalo Linkstation HD-H250LAN and Netgear N300 DGN2200v3 ADSL2 Modem Router.
3 PCs connect without a problem, 2 wireless and 1 wired, but cannot get it to recognise the Buffalo Linkstation. Netgear uses 192.168.0.1. but Belkin used 192.168.2.etc.
Linkstation setup says Linkstation not connected, but it is.
I hooked up with a Linksys WRT110 wireless router to a Zoom modem and my DSL on my desktop and laptop are both working fine. My problem is my phone lines quit working. I plugged a phone into the box outside and I had a dial tone. When you try to call my house it just keeps ringing.
While I was out of the house, my father rearranged the network cables a bit. I don't know what he has done exactly - He says nothing more then pulling and untangling.
When I came back home, my internet connection changed its IP from 192.168.0.205 to 169.254.197.233. The speed changed from 1Gbps to 10Mbps. It has also been at 100Mbps for a while. My subnetmask changed from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0. The standard gateway changed from 192.168.0.1 to no standard gateway. My DNS servers remain the same.
I have checked the lights of the UTP ports, and it looks like it's only sending a heartbeat every few seconds.
All the cabling is gigabit, my network card is a Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20). THe modem is a CBN SVG6540E.
All theres a problem with my internet connection because recently i saw that my Nintendo ds couldent connect to my WPA connection so i logged into my router and done the idiotic thing of changing my connection from WPA to WEP and now i cant connect to the internet so when i try to connect it just says aquiring network address then stops eventully saying limited or no connectivity. I tried logging into my router again but apparently i need an internet connection
I have a D-Link DIR-632 router flashed to DD-WRT.My original setup to my cable modem worked fine, i set up my wireless parameters via the DD-WRT software and everything was peachy until last week when my access (on the ISP end) was interrupted. Time Warner sent out a serviceman while I was at work and apparently he "Changed the IP Address".Now when I try to connect via my router, I get constant DNS errors (Windows 7 64 Pro).
My internet connection was lost and after calling Verizon, they talked me through adding a different isp address. Now my internet works, but when I went to my D-view cam (this is where the daily footage is stored for security camera DCS-930L), I can't make the connection. It says COM1 is not working. I know the camera works through the wireless router, but somehow the connection between the camera and the D-view cam doesn't.
Ok, it all started yesterday when I was stupid enough to open a link a friend sent me. It was of course a virus. I ran a couple of anti-virus/anti-malwere programs and I think I got everything cleared. However I am not able to connect to facebook - it says that it cannot connect securely to the server or that the link is broken, or that the "server refused the connection". I have no problems with any other site. I have Windows 7 and I usually use Google Chrome but I've also tried FireFox and IE - nothing works. I tried everything I could find on the internet - I cleared all the cookies, I changed my DNS
Basically, I was following instructions of how to forward a port to get higher speeds on bitcomet. After doing allsorts which I don't understand (yes, very stupid I know, but I've learned my lesson now), I restarted my computer and have since been unable to connet to the internet.
I have tried a system restore which didn't work and also searched google for hours but to no avail. When I diagnose the problem with windows,it states," "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.I am running Windows 7 btw.
My mother accidentally turned off wireless or changed the password to the 2WIRE778 that we have and I can't get wifi on my iPod. So I have a small motorola router and it's wireless so if I hook it up to the original 2WIRE that has blocked wifi do you think I can get wifi off the second router with no password troubles or would I have to buy a special router that has no password? I don't know a lot about computers. And my Meyer has a password on our computer so I can't log on. so if I just hook up the 2nd router and possibly get WiFi do I need to do anything such as setup on the computer or can I plug it in and just go?
Laptop, Desktop with USB stick, and 2 notebooks all were working fine on wireless prior to switching from phone line, to high speed cable connection at router. Have tried reset, unplug power, reinstalled router and everything else I could think of but none of them will connect. Shows a good strong signal from router but will not connect. Re-entered numbers, password etc as well in all other computers. What else to try other than a new router? Could it be coincidence that router decided to quit, around same time as changeover? Cable connections good and main computer connected via cable works ok, just all wireless not working.
Can't log in to d-link either. wrong password,? Type in admin, but won't log on without password and I tried but won't accept . Hitting reset and then retry didn't work either?
I'm able to configure the device with the IP, Subnet, GW and DNS given by my ISP. However I need to assign public IPs to my other two servers ( Apache Server, Firewall) which are connected directly to the device. I've tried disabling NAT and assign static ips to each server. However, when I go to change the lan ip on the router it won't allow it. the errors are: pv0 and iplan are on the same subnet cannot have ip_range
Im currently using a Zoom 3G Wireless-N Router with a MF112 Mobile Broadband Dongle on the 3 Network.[URL] ive been using this setup for over a year now and have had no issues. I have 3 appliances that are sharing the wireless internet connection.Iphone - Xbox360 and a Windows 7 Netbook Yesterday i found that i couldn't establish an internet connection, i had connection to the zoom 3g router but no internet access. To my great delight my iphone also refuses to right me internet access. A connection to the router is obtained but just no internet. My partners Xbox 360 though has no problem accessing Xbox Live i just dont get it. Also whilst a connection is established to the router over my Acer aspire one Nbook. my small Gmail/Gtalk icon in the system tray suggests that im online and available. and can interact with contacts. While this confuses me i fire up either Chrome or Fox and wait for my google.co.uk search homepage to appear in which it doesnt. if i load up a Bookmark like say Filehippo. it loads but the webpage is missing icons and its graphical interface.
I tried resetting the routers settings. rebooting my Iphone and Nbook.... Turning off the Xbox360 and then trying to see if i can obtain internet access. Nothing i try seems to solve this annoying issue. its driving me mad. i havent installed / updated or accidental removed anything that could have caused this. Ive had a situation in the past where a router connection is present but no internet access resulting in some sort of DNS issue i think. But when the iphone doesnt establish internet access but the XBOX 360 will. thats just a pain in the a$$.im suspecting that the router is at fault. there must be something that it isnt supplying the Nbook and Iphone with but is the 360. I dont know.
My son decided to update our router firmware, together with this the password was changed. My computer which hosts the Internet connection works fine, all other laptops have now been connected successfully after simply changing the password. However my wifes laptop won't play ball. It is a Samsung R510, with Vista Home Premium OS. It worked fine prior to updating the firmware. I have been through the process of changing the password and have the correct security encryption in place, exactly the same process as with the other laptops.
It then says successfully connected, but shows in the bottom right of the screen, Unidentified network access local only and will not connect when the browser is opened. I have tried to diagnose but the usual windows prompt to reboot both modem and router has no effect. I have set it to private, as advised elsewhere, I have switched the firewall off and removed security software, all to no avail.
I tried the command prompt, then ipconfig/renew. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected. Let me stress that no changes were made to the laptop at all, it is simply not connecting following the firmware update and password change. All other computers, and phones, 6 in total, are all working fine from simply changing the password.
Changed from D-Link to Netgear router now only one of two computers cannot see the other. Error shows cannot connect to MSHOME network, need administrative approval. Computers are ethernet connected to the router. Have McAffe and both computers are "Trusted" Can do a search with XP and it shows the missing computer but unable to make a connection.
I currently use Pure network majic as my network manager but on my desktop zoom network manager is installed and will not allow PN to do its job. I have gone through my desktop with a fine tooth comb to find this file/application to no avail. I don't remember installing it, bit I need to get it off.I have the same problem:The previous reply was Did you look for it inside the Control Panel under "Add/Remove Programs"? Is there anyway to get rid of it? Is there a process that is running when it is running and what is the name of the process?
I believe we accidentally changed the NAT on our wireless g MIMO F5D9230-4 router. Now only one laptop is actually connecting to the Internet, but it looks like our network isn't secure anymore. Our 2nd laptop is connected wirelessly to the router, but not the Internet. Our iPhones and iPad are not connecting at all.
I have a Zoom adsl x6 model 5590 wireless router. I recently tried to update its firmware by following the instructions from the manufacturers site. Everything seemed to go correctly, but I am now unable to connect to the internet or my routers http address. My router now has a red power light along with a solid green light for the wlan and dsl.
My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
I want to connect my tata photon device to my bsnl wifi modem via a usb portavailable on the bsnl modem. This is to provide a wifi network that i can use to surf the net on my phone.
I have a WUSB11 Wireless B and wonder if it accepts WPA2 security, I originally had my router set to WPA, and the wireless B worked fine, I have since changed to WPA2 and notice the Wireless B device won't connect.
I have a cable modem installed to my property but want to use my modem/router to go wireless. The proble is my cable modem output is a RJ45 and the router input is RJ11.
I am in the process of opening an internet cafe. I dont know exactly what a pc server does on the network... or do I really need one? Is the switch/hub sufficent to connect all pcs to the moderm to connect to the internet?
i have a at&t modem and wireless router in one. its the source of my internet and is in my office room and i was wondering if i can use my old westell wireless modem router and hook it up in my bedroom so i can have a better signal for my laptop and use an ethernet cable for other things like the tv and ect
Tonight I went to lay down in bed and decided to start up the Wii for some Netflix. About 30 minutes into watching my program, my connection suddenly cut out. I got up and checked my modem, and sure enough the "online" light was blinking.
I did the usual power cycle thing with no luck. The whole time I am thinking to myself "I swear I just paid that thing a week ago!". After power cycling 3 times, I decided to check the router settings by going to my router manager page (192.168.1.1).
I look through my basic settings when I noticed my DNS address was no longer set to "Get automatically for ISP". Well, that's not right. It now had a new primary and secondary DNS listed. I couldn't remember if either of those addresses were always there. I switched it back and like magic my modem connected again.
Should I be concerned by this? I remembered the big "DNSChanger" thing going around a while ago, so I checked the two numbers against the FBI database and both numbers came up clean.
I ran into a bit of an issue today while testing a vpn software on a virtual machine(win7); I successfully connected to vpn, then the connection dropped and since with the vpn connection another ip address was assigned, now I'm unable to communicate with that VM. I am able to find it in SCCM via hostname, but can't reboot it or start anything on it.
ISP is Virgin media with whom I have been with for a number of years.Recently discovered that the package I have which is only broadband ,speed at approx 10mb at a cost of £22.50 has been overtaken by new package of a wireless/ethernet hub, which replaces my old tin box router, with a min speed of 30mb for the same price! As soon as I raised the obvious query with Virgin the router was placed in the post to reach me by next Tuesday.
I can't seem to connect my laptop using my ethernet cable, but I'm able to connect it to the Internet using my wireless connection. Whenever I plug in the cable, my computer tells me that the LAN connection is connected, but I can't open a web page. I tried connecting the cable onto another laptop and it worked, so I don't know what's up with the LAN connection on mine.
