Zoom 5241 Modem / Internet Connection Drops Every 10-30 Minutes And Reconnects

My internet connection drops every 10-30 minutes and reconnects. The modem seems to reset (every light except the power one). I have a Zoom model 5241 modem. Additionally, I cannot access my modem's status page [URL]. It's as if I'm trying to access a site that doesn't exist. Comcast sent a tech who replaced a splitter, but that didn't work.

I decided to get a faster modem since we are not streaming a lot more and started on the XBOX Live. I got a Zoom 5241 which seemed to have some good specs for what I need. I turned of my pc and unplugged my router when I connected the new modem. Before I connected the coax and ethernet, I held down the reset button, made all connections, waited 3 min., plugged in router...waited...powered up pc. Modem lights keeps cycling, DS flashes a while-then solid then US flashed-solid, then Online flashes-never solid and starts all over. Link light is continuously lit. I tried /renew, nothing.

Just starting a couple of days ago my internet started dropping about every 10-20 minutes. The problem is only with this computer. I have a laptop right next to me and it works fine no problem and two other PCs that don't have any issues so I don't think it is the router. I have scanned my computer with different antivirus software and it's clean. The computer is always connected with a full 5 bars and says it has internet access but sometimes it drops and in order to get it up and running again I unplug the wireless adapter and plug it in again. At first I thought it might have been the adapter so I swapped it out for a new one and I'm still having the same problems. My wireless is unencrypted. This keeps happening over and over again and I am stumped on what to do.

I'm having a problem with my wireless internet connection. Just recently my roommates and I got cable internet and a wireless router for the house. Since connecting to the wireless router, it keeps on disconnecting me and then reconnecting once every 2 minutes about. The disconnection last for only 10 seconds but is very annoying and disrupts everything I'm doing on the internet. What is going on and how can I fix it?

I have a DIR-615, hardware version: C1, firmware version 3.12NA and my issue is that it keeps dropping my VPN connection after 12 minutes.  Sometimes it'll go longer than 12 minutes but on average right at 12 minutes of my connection, it drops.  This happens whether I'm using the wireless or hard wired to the router.  As a test, I ran a continuous ping on a computer on my internal network and also to a computer on my corporate network.  When I'm VPN'd in, both pings are successful.  Once the router kills my VPN session, the pings to my internal network are successful.  So the router isn't rebooting or anything like that.  My VPN session will automatically reconnect, but I'm stumped.

For some reason, certain activities, such as using Bittorrent and visiting specific sites, causes my connection to drop immediately. It stays down for five minutes, after which the connection is reestablished... but if the offending progam is still running or I try to refresh the site, it drops for another five minutes.I really need to know what is causing this, and how it can be avoided. It only started this last weekend (22/1, 2011), and my ISP says they have no problems on their end. I'm running Windows 7.

Modem And Wireless Router Predictably Drops Internet Connection After Power Outage?

Immediately after a power outage, my internet connection predictably drops after a set period of time or usage. It is either after about 30 min or 5-15 mins of watching Netflix. I have a modem hooked up to a wireless router and use the network on my iPhone, laptop and Roku. Since the problem, I have dropped to just having my laptop connected but this has not worked. The wireless network will disappear after the 5 - 20 mins, the light on the modem and router will show no internet (all other lights are normal). Internet connection will be reestablished if I either unplug both the modem and the router (not just one or the other) OR if I unplug the ethernet line from the modem to the router and plug it directly into my laptop (the internet light on the modem will go from "off" to "on"). Despite internet connection working from transferring from the router to the laptop if I connect it back to the router, the internet lights goes off again (resolves upon unplugging and plugging modem and router back in). The internet has not yet dropped when it is physically plugged into my laptop.

I have tried the following:

-Powercycling (temp fix until it crashes again)
-Plugging into a different outlet (I cannot connect it to a different phone line, only have 1 with DSL. Also, I do not have phone service or cable, just internet via DSL)
-Resetting modem
-Resetting 2 different routers
-Calling ISP, their test of the modem was inconclusive

Again, my wifi does not see my network whenever the internet is dropped or the ethernet cord is unplugged from the modem. The outlets I have it plugged into has some type of electrical issue, two electrical devices have shorted out in the room they are in. I do not think this issue is electrical, everything seems to have constant power (unless the power outage shorted out something in the modem). Below are some details of my modem and router. I will provide any additional info requested. I will gladly buy a new modem but I want to see if it can be fixed first.

I can't win. After dealing with the internet dropping once every two weeks, I decided that upgrading the firmware might work. Turns it all it did was exacerbate the problem and now my internet drops every few minutes. I've been plugged into my modem for a good 20 minutes at this point with no drops. I have a Motorola surfboard sb5101. Provider is comcast.I have never had any problem with my equipment until now. Here is whats going on. I bought a used sb5101 a week ago so that I would not have to pay the rental fee anymore. Comcast activated it, and it worked fine for a week or two. The other night I got disconnected from XBOX live randomly in the middle of a game. Thought maybe just a hickup, no biggie. Well it happened 3 more times in a few hours, then again the next day.So thinking maybe this used modem is bad, I plugged back in the rental from comcast which I still had. Worked fine for a while, then the same thing, random dissconnects after 10 min, 30 min, 2 hrs into a game...etcOn both modems, the 1st and 4th green light are solid, the 2nd and 3rd green light are flashing when the connection from LIVE drops.So I'm starting to think know that neither of the modems are bad. I then try going directly to the modem instead of the router, never had any problems with the router but figured I try.I even went into the attic and got rid of the 4 way splitter that feeds cable into all the bedrooms and put in a 2 way instead hooking up only the cable line im using for xbox. Thought maybe the signal is getting degraded to bad, eventhough never had a problem before.So now I'm practically hooked up right to the line coming off the street, ethernet cord plugged directly into the modem, no router. Still dropping connections randomly with same 2nd and 3rd light flashing.The connection needs to be completely stable for multiple hours.Also, I called comcast when I had to reactivate the rental modem, so they did refreshed that modem and reactivate it, but still had the disconnects the next day.

In the past week I have been getting totally random disconnects from my modem. Sometimes it works great, other times it will essentially cease to function as it tries to sync to bells lines, it seems to be worse at night from what I've seen. I have called my ISP over 4 times, had 3 separate techs come to my house and replace everything from the router to the Internet port down the road.The only thing that has not been replaced is the actual phone jack in my wall but every tech has looked at it and said its functioning fine. I am at a loss, and on the verge of canceling my service with my ISP at this point. Problem is I cannot get rogers for various reasons, so bell is my only option for high speed internet, so canceling with them sorts leaves me high and dry.

I have purchased a wireless router and intended to use it with my Iphone and when firends come over with laptops they could use it as well. Because i live on 3 and a half acres i don't need to protect it well it doesn't bother me. For a couple of days it was working fine until i was playing a game and my internet just dropped and i investigated the issue and found when i unplug the router which is connect to my modems first slot (Ethernet cable) the internet will come back on but when i put the cord back in my net drops. ive tried changing the slots and trying different cables.

SB4200 - Motorola Cable Modem Regularly Drops Connection Restarts Itself

I have a Motorola modem SURFBoard SB4200, along with a wireless Linksys router that connects to that modem. The router works normally but the modem often dies and restarts itself after about 1-2 minutes.

What could be causing this problem? How should I start debugging it?

My internet connection will cut out every 5-10 minutes. Sometimes it will stay on but MOST of the time it cuts out every 5-10 min. other times my ping will jump to over 2000 or stay around 200 for no reason. It has gotten to the point of where I can not play any online games anymore, and there is no possibility of a wired connection.6-8 months ago we has slow internet speed and Comcast told us it was not their fault it was our router, and that routers go bad every year or 2, so we got a new one. My connections to the old router used to be 3-4 bars and with the new one it is 1-2. Ok so the big issues was it started getting bad where my connection would randomly cut out. I thought it was my wireless network adapter because it was old. I was constantly unplugging it and plugging it back in or releasing and renewing my ip every 5-10 minutes sometimes more often. Let me define cutting out, sometimes it would be everything, but most times it would be just one application like website or just the game I was playing but not steam chat.

So I got a new wireless adapter and we hooked back up the old router to find out Comcast had lied to us and our speed was fine on the old router ... in fact out connection was better. but still the problem remains.. random cutting out of internet completely and random huge lag spikes.... it is less frequent but still every 10-20 min something goes wrong. I have tried changing the routers channel, updating both routers. I tried setting myself up a static ip but it would not give me internet connection if I did... idk if i had the DNS wrong or something. Anyways I am at my wits end and about damn ready to try ANYTHING to make this work again. It did before so I know it can work! I will try anything and post any reportsSometimes I might be slow to respond because I have to try things out for a little bit to see if they worked.

I have brought a broadband connection from a local ISP called YouBroadband. (I am from India, if you are wondering.) For the first month of my plan, I was having internet connection without any issues. But since 2nd month, I am experiencing a very strange problem. When I turn on my PC and connect to internet by entering my password, I do so without any problem. But after a few mnutes of connectivity, I loose my connection. Even stranger is the fact my Windows 7 Ultimate edition does not recognise this. It still shows connected sign in the notification area. But I am not able browse any more using any browser. to solve the problem, I start network troubleshooting, which in a few seconds shows, resetting 'Local Area Connection 2' and then I am able to log in again. At times this solution also doesn't work. All i can do at that time is shut down my PC, wait a few minutes and restart again. To my extreme dismay, this keeps happening over and over again. I connect, get disconnected, reconnect and again disconnect. This is terribly disturbing and annoying.

I have searched on Google with no success. I tried changing DNS server settings and put Google open DNS address as my preferred DNS server but that didn't solve the problem too.( I received this tip from a friend of mine.) Internet Connection Freezes Every 1 To 2 Minutes

I am on a home LAN with a high speed broadband connection, Apple TimeCapsule router, and Windows 7 laptop. Starting this morning every 1-2 minutes my Internet connection stops working. I can not load webpages, send email, etc. A yellow triangle with an exclamation point appears over the WiFi icon on the taskbar. When my Internet connection stops I can disconnect from the wireless then reconnect. That will work for another 1-2 minutes only.

I do not recall doing anything that could have caused this (obviously something caused it, but I have not been screwing with drivers or anything and it has worked fine since I bought this computer 2 months ago from Dell). I have read several threads from where people had this problem in the past, but to no avail. For instance some people had multiple firewalls in conflict with one another or needed to renew their DHCP lease, but that is not true in my case.

Here are steps that I have taken to repair the problem, but with no luck:

- Restart the computer fully, many times
- Renew the DHCP lease
- Run the troubleshooter
- Changed my DNS servers from the ISP's to Google's
- Uninstalled all OpenVPN software
- Removed the stored WiFi network data from Windows then reconnect
- Verified that only 1 firewall is installed
- Tried it with the ethernet, which works
- Tried other computers on the WLAN, which works
- Ran anti-virus and anti-malware scans (no infection)

I do have a VirtualBox installation, but I have not run it in weeks. Even when I was connected for that 1-2 minute period I was unable to connect to my work OpenVPN, which is what led me to try uninstalling the VPN software, but that doesn't seem to be related.

Every time I boot my computer, the internet is working fine and shows no signs of anything wrong, but after loading so much (several minutes of a YouTube video, or just idle data coming in from other sites I'm on) it just comes to a halt and nothing can get through. At first, I thought that this was my school's internet being bad since I had just moved back into the dorms today. The problem with that is that I seem to be the only one having a problem like this. After so much time, depending on how much bandwidth I'm using (I think, this is just based on observation), it just drops the internet completely and won't start again until I reboot.What I've found so far is that I can't seem to get an IP address after the service stops, but I don't know how I could connect that to anything.

Recently I changed it from a domain to a workgroup and now the internet connection drops after about 5 - 10 minutes.When I say "drops", I am referring to the browser can no longer display the webpage. The internet connection still shows to be "Excellent". I even tried pinging www.google.com and it can still ping the website but the browser just stops working. I have tried Firefox and IE.I updated the DNS to use the default primary DNS suffix. The only way to get the browser to re-establish a connection is by rebooting the laptop.[CODE]

I'd say it would be a problem with the router, but everyone else's computers never disconnect, just mine. The only difference is that they all have macs and I have an Acer. I just got this computer and it was fine for about a month, but then about 2-3 weeks ago this started happening.

We recently moved in with some family, and we brought with us a Belkin N wireless Router. I set it up to their existing internet modem (I'm not sure what type it is or anything, I just know that the ISP is Optus) about halfway through January.

It's been working fine until Friday. Since setting it up, both my brother and I have (at different times) been playing Star Wars Battlefront II online. On Thursday night I was playing online fine, with no lag or anything (with a ping of about 138), however, ever since Friday it has been lagging non-stop. I have the same ping so I thought it must have been because we've gone over the limit for the month and the internet slows down.

However, every few mintutes (1 or 2 normally) the connection between my laptop and the network drops, and then within another few minutes connects again. I am running Windows Vista Business. My brothers laptop has the same problem, and he has Vista Home installed.

At first I thought it was a problem with the router, so I updated the firmware and restored the factory defaults, but the problem remains. When I get onto a website (if I'm lucky enough for the connection to stay) it normally loads pretty fast, so I dunno if we've gone over the limit or not (and I don't know the password to check).

I just have recently been experiencing some dropping off the internet.. My phone company has been out here and has done tests, and changed out my wireless modem with a new one, switched me to a new high speed port.. cleaned up the cables outside my house.. installed a new jack.. and we have yet to solve this intermittent dropping and reconnecting... I am starting to wonder, if not anything else with my outside line.. is there something else causing the problem. I switched my channel from 11 to 9.. *my neighbor is on channel 11* thought maybe his was interfering with mine .I am using WPA, I have disabled the power adapter from "saving power" in the adapter settings..

When the internet does drop off the DSL light on the modem goes out, and then comes back on..its not blinking off and on, just off.. then waits.. then reconnects to the net, it's almost like it's refreshing or something every couple of minutes.The modem is a Siemens Speedstream 6520

Cisco Switches :: SG300-28P - POE Power Drops Every Several Minutes

We have an SG300-28P which, at intervals between 5 and 30 minutes or so, drops power to all of its POE-powered ports and then immediately restores power. The switch logs nothing when this happens other than recording that the ports went down and back up, even with debug logging enabled. Non-POE ports are not affected.
 
When the problem started there were only four POE-powered devices on the switch and we are far under our power budget. (While testing I added a fifth device, see below.)
 
Not all combinations of devices cause the drops to occur -- specifically, it looks like having devices on ports near each other causes the drops. When the drops occur, the absent counters of all of the POE devices increment. I noticed this earlier thread here seemed similar: [URL]
 
but in that case, he got no power at all in the adjacent configurations, instead of having it drop every several minutes.

Cisco VPN :: Juniper Firewall To ASA 5540 Drops Every 45 Minutes

We have a VPN established between the above devices (I don't have more info on the Juniper as it's a client site) The Juniper initiates the VPN and all is well, tunnel is up all ok but approx every 45 minutes the VPN drops.
 
the tunnel parameters are set to keep it alive for 8 hours but that doesn't work.
