WUSB600N - Internet Randomly Drops And Reconnects?
Apr 25, 2011
My wireless internet has been acting a bit weird lately. I use a linksys Dual band wireless-N USB adaptor (WUSB600N) to connect to my router, a 2wire 1000sw. I am on windows 7. Recently, the internet has been dropping and reconnecting the connection weirdly; it is apparent in Portal 2 Co-op mode; it says the connection has been lost to the server, and then within 4 seconds, re-joins the server. During that time, the little network icon (the 4 bars in the task bar) says "Identifying."

My internet connection drops every 10-30 minutes and reconnects. The modem seems to reset (every light except the power one). I have a Zoom model 5241 modem. Additionally, I cannot access my modem's status page [URL]. It's as if I'm trying to access a site that doesn't exist. Comcast sent a tech who replaced a splitter, but that didn't work.

I'm having this discconnection and reconnection issue every 30-45 minutes, and it is extremely annoying. Especially when playing online, I always get disconnected from the server. I have tried so many things to fix it, but no change at all. I've tried to change my DNS, tried to plug the modem directly to my computer, but the problem still existed! When I troubleshoot from the windows, it says: your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.

Router randomly stops working and sometimes reconnects by it self and sometimes I have to manual reset the router. Also I only get 2-3 bars wireless. Is my router not configured properly or damaged?

I just got a our internet going through our phone modem instead of a separate modem, a new router, and some new rewiring because lighting hit near my house and blew out everything, but now on the computer I built my internet connection drops really low randomly and nothing loads. It happens at random times and for a random periods of time. I ran malwarebytes and super antispyware and nothing showed up. I connect wirelessly with a asus usb adapter.I also tried a different usb adapter that I just bought and no change, and I tried changing channels on the router. Also we have three other laptops in the house and none of them are having problems. It shows me connected with five bars and good signal it just drops to almost nothing speeds.

So we recently moved our Comcast demarc to our new server room which resulted in moving the SMC modem from our old server room where it directly connects to the firewall - to a new room where it connects to a 2910 switch, LACP to our L3 switch, LACP to another 2910, then to Sonicwall.
Since the move our internet has been dropping off randomly for about 2-5 minutes then it will come back online. This happens anywhere from 10 to 50 times a day. Sometimes it happens a half hour apart, sometimes it is 15 minutes apart, sometimes it will go 8 hours without issue.
The modem has been replaced, the Comcast line has been "tested."
The modem remains online when we lose internet connectivity - I can connect to it using a laptop on it's lan port and ping out to google.com while an computer connected beyond the switch and sonicwall cannot connect.
I have run a constant ping from a home comptuer to the modem as well as to our sonicwall (both static addresses) and they both seem to go offline when we lose internet connectivity.
Since the issue started, I moved the Sonicwall so that it connects directly to the 2910 that the modem connects to, put it in a vlan with the modem so they only talk to each other and it still results in the same intermittent disconnects. I checked all the port statistics on both ports as well as the event logs, and trunk links and find nothing abnormal.
I take the switch out entirely and plug the modem directly into the firewall like it was prior to the whole move. Works fine.
Traffic is not an issue and the switch in question also connects all my production servers and iSCSI SAN together without issue.

I have an E2500 with the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.03). My configuration is simple, I have a fixed IP from my ISP with fixed DNS servers. I have one computer connected via cable and one connected via wireless and a laptop that gets connected on occasion wirelessly as well. I also have an android phone that I sometimes have the networking turned on and sometimes not. That doesn't seem to be affecting the router either as I've lost connections under both circumstances. The only thing I have different is I clone the MAC address as the ISP has my IP linked to my old Linksys MAC.
The problem is I randomly lose connection to the internet, the home network is still up it's just the internet goes down. I could be on the computer or not, sometimes while browsing sometimes after I browse for a while sometimes before I get started. Fortunately its not happened during one of my online games but it has happened just after I log off the game. It usually happens a couple of times a day.

my E2500 drops the internet connection randomly. I have no issues with wired or wireless access to the home network (sharing files, sharing printers etc...). To fix the problem I log into the router and do a soft reboot from the status page.
I posted this earlier and the only response I received was a cut and paste answer to make some changes to my wireless settings. Seriously doubting the relevance of the post I made the changes anyway and as expected nothing changed, the router still loses access to the internet without any warning. When I replied that I hadn't thought that that was the problem but that I HAD made the changes mentioned and as I expected it DIDN'T work I get no response.

ISP: RCN Type: Cable Security: None, had Microsoft Security Essentials running but uninstalled that to see if it was causing an error. Basic Windows Firewall is enabled (although have tested without)
The problem I'm having is the internet on my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-580t PC will drop for these short 10-30 second bursts. After the drop it will automatically start working again. This happens with all programs I'm running on the computer. The odd thing is that it's in a way random. Sometimes I won't get these drops for 30 minutes but then I'll get them every couple minutes.
I've been trying to pinpoint the problem but haven't come up with anything. I tried plugging the computer directly into the cable modem and still had a problem (which I assume ruled out the router as a problem). It also would seem to rule out this being strictly a wireless issue. I removed antivirus (Microsoft Security Essentials) and have tweaked with turning off the firewall completely. I've tweaked the power saving settings to make sure the adapters are not turning off. Even went as far as blanking the hard drive and re-installing the factory settings.
It's worth noting that I have no problems with other devices online. I have a laptop (uses XP) that uses both wireless and a direct connection to the router without issues. An iPad and Xbox 360 has had no drops when in use. This issue only happens with the desktop. The only difference in this device is it uses Windows 7.It doesn't appear to be the ISP (unless there is something they would do to cause issues with Windows 7) and the issue happens regardless of the router being used or not. It doesn't appear to be the wireless card since it still had issues plugged in. So I feel like it has to be either some setting on Windows 7 or some other hardware issue (Motherboard?).

My DIR-655 randomly drops its connection. All devices on the network behave as though the network is not available, then again sees the network, and reconnects (all devices being two laptops, three smartphones, and a PS3...same symptoms). My modem does not have any problems, and I have tried resetting the router, but it has not worked.

Here's the problem, there are 4-5 computers connected to their router's network through both wire and wireless. Some of the other computers are used to stream tv dramas and what not, and it really kills the connection and I am barely even able to open a simple webpage.

My wireless connection randomly drops, or has no Internet connection, or says it has connection and Internet but no web pages load. Usually, what happens is it says I have no Internet connection. I have to disconnect and reconnect to get the Internet back. My ethernet connected computer never loses connection.
I am running Windows 7 with a Realtek wireless card. I have updated the driver to the latest. The wireless router is a D-Link 615 e1 using DD-WRT. The router is hooked up to a Brighthouse Arris TM402G/110 modem for internet access (note: this is my second modem. I had the same problem with another modem. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name.)
When the router is connected to a U-Verse 2Wire 3800HGV modem/wireless router (with the wireless turned off) I have no Internet disconnections. Everything else is the same (I just move the Ethernet cable between the two modems). Of course, one is just a modem and the other is a NAT router/modem.
I noticed that the wireless connection has a weaker signal when connected to the Brighthouse modem then when connected to the U-Verse modem. I therefore tried to up the TX signal strength on the router. This improved the situation (and the signal strength) but I still get disconnects. I also tried setting the MSS to 1492.

We have a site running 2 1131AG access points on different floors with the same SSID.There have been issues with connections dropping over the last 2-3 months to some newer laptops and iphones that have been introduced to the network. It is almost totally intermittent and after updating the IOS and laptop drivers where possible, there is a still a problem that wont go away.I have some example logging from both AP's when this happens (apologies for the date/time differences, however the events are all sequential)

My new computer has a problem with the on-board gigabit ethernet it keeps dropping network connection every few minutes. Nothing has had any effect. It has been such an annoying problem, I really was hoping to find a fix for this sooner as I know other people have had similar issues. Does anyone have any other ideas because I would like to use the only ethernet connection sometime in the near future. Having to run of an WPN11 netgear usb adapter at the moment.

I've got a problem with the wireless dropping out randomly. It may take a week before it stops or a couple of hours. I originally thought my microwave oven was swamping the signal when we used it so I relocated the router much further away but this hasn't changed anything. I can still log in to the router from a computer on the wired ports and reboot the router. It also thinks the wireless is working but everything looses connection to it. We have 3 laptops and 4 phones that use the wireless and they all cannot connect when it goes down. This is only a new device - less than 6 months?

My wireless internet constantly disconnects and then reconnects right away for seemingly no reason. I can't find a pattern, sometimes I have no dropouts for 6 hours, sometimes it happens every 20-30 seconds for a few minutes. I've checked online and i tried to do some research on it but i couldnt find an answer, i remember typing something into the cmd and it said that something was disables, just cant remember what i typed into the cmd. Also, when my ISP raises the network speed, my router or whatever it is can't handle it so i disconnect and have to call them to set it down.

I've tried two different brands of wireless network adapter now: a Netgear and a Belkin. They've both had the same issue.I'm running Windows 7, and the network connection will just randomly drop out. If I unplug and plug in the adapter, the network will reappear and it will connect to the internet just fine, until the next time it drops out.

I recently bought my new Alienware laptop and it would connect to the wifi but no internet. Sometimes it works for a second or 1 minute. Now it's just a triangle with an exclamation mark saying it has no internet access. I already tried the power management. I am using a router; the other laptops in my house is fine. Could it be because the router couldn't support the internet of the Alienware? I remember seeing routers saying "Good for gaming!" something like that. I've been having this problem for 2 days now.

My internet crashes randomly for no reason I can easily see. It usually happens when i'm running my minecraft server and something else that uses constant internet at the same time, such as pandora or playing on the server. it takes down our whole houses internet, and is really starting to piss me off because i run a full minecraft server so i cant really just stop it, and i cant afford renting one. it does this for both the wifi and lan.

This has been going on for a few months now, but I'm just finally getting around to finding out the issue. So basically, this is what's happening; I'm randomly browsing some pages just fine, then I try to go to another page, and I can't load the page. I try to open a new page after that, it won't load. My internet still says it's at full bar internet access. I can somehow still use pages that are open (Such as a chat program, I can still chat in there, but I can't load any pages) for as long as a few hours after the internet supposedly shuts off. Everybody else in my household doesn't, and hasn't ever had this problem before, so I seriously doubt it's the modem. I've tried moving my laptop into those places to see if it's a problem with reception in the area I'm at, though it doesn't. The only thing that will turn the internet back on again, is a computer restart. After a fresh restart, the internet will last anywhere between 4 hours to a couple of days before doing that.?

My internet will disconnect and reconnect randomly, nothing works every time to fix it, the time online and offline is random, sometimes it works when i turn on the computer, sometimes it doesn't , sometimes it stops after a while, sometimes restarting works.
I am running Windows XP on a desktop computer with the most current service pack installed and I have a linksys wireless router installed in the computer. I know the router isn't linksys, I think it may be netgear. I have no way of connecting wired to the router. My bf's laptop running windows 7 is used wirelessly in the same room as my desktop and rarely has any problems connecting. I should mention that this problem also occurred on this computer while living in other locations and using different routers, but it was never this sporadic. It was best when used in conjunction with the linksys WRT54G router.
I realized today looking at the status of the wireless network connection that the network name and signal strength will disappear and reappear randomly, all while still saying I am connected and that I have sent and received packets, and sometimes randomly changing connection speed as well. Sometimes an alert bubble will pop up saying that my internet connection is connected and that I have excellent signal strength, with varying speeds, but the internet still doesn't work. Or sometimes it does work. How to access it.

regarding my wireless card conecting to the internet.
Firstly what happens is I coonect to my hub which is a sky router without a problem, the internet isnt a problem and gaming and so on, but from time to time and sometimes once every 15 mins the wireless icon in the bottom of the screen says it has disconnected then a few seconds later it reconnects this may seem trivial but when i am playing games and surfing the web it gets extremely annoying getting cut off. I have tested this on another router and it is the same problem, so i know its not just one isolated router. stop the wireless connection from disconnecting randomly.

While searching the web, watching movies, or doing something randomly on my laptop which runs Windows Vista, I seem to randomly disconnect from my internet and it will soon reconnect a minute later. I currently have Comcast High Speed internet as my ISP and my router is a D-Link DIR-628. It mostly happens when i'm watching a video or something to that extent. I'm assuming it has to do with bandwidth? I am not completely sure though.
