Internet On Laptop Cuts Off Randomly?

Jan 4, 2012

While searching the web, watching movies, or doing something randomly on my laptop which runs Windows Vista, I seem to randomly disconnect from my internet and it will soon reconnect a minute later. I currently have Comcast High Speed internet as my ISP and my router is a D-Link DIR-628. It mostly happens when i'm watching a video or something to that extent. I'm assuming it has to do with bandwidth? I am not completely sure though.

Internet Randomly And Frequently Cuts Out?

Sep 6, 2012

I have an acer aspire 5536 laptop and it will randomly disconnect from the wireless internet. Everything will be working fine but as soon as I try to load two things at once (or sometimes even one big thing) it will show that little yellow exclamation mark and say no access to internet even though it is still connected to the network. The other computers connected to the wireless work fine with no access issues so I know it is not the router. Also this happened in my previous home where I used wireless but from a different provider so it is definitely something wrong with the computer. Every time it goes to no internet access if I disconnect and then reconnect it works again.

Internet Randomly Cuts Out And Lag Spikes Only Desktop

Feb 25, 2013

While I download things it randomly drops to very low (3kbs) or randomly just stops completely, usually download is around 300kb/s+ and this only happens on my (homebuild) desktop, every other laptop/computer works fine. Also when playing online games (ex swtor) random lag spikes that last for minutes+ while the internet works just fine in browser. Whenever a problem occurs it always is fine just loading web pages, just downloads/online has problems.I have tried moving my computer around the house, trying wireless and lan and today i installed windows 7 64bit (was 32bit) hoping for a difference and still nothing. After this fresh install every driver is fully up to date. As the adapter only has wireless it would seem the problem also occurs with mobo (since plugged in for lan) Some bad connection in the case? edit Just open up the case everything is connected unless something is just broken.

Asus G73JW - Wireless Randomly Cuts Out For A Few Seconds

Dec 16, 2011

I have two laptops in front of me, running continuous pings to my gateway (router) and to google. One computer pings both targets fine and doesn't time out. The other computer, an Asus G73JW laptop, occasionally times out. This makes browsing annoying because loading websites sometimes times out, network operations (like file copying) times out, etc.

Screenshots:

I've updated my wireless card drivers. During this test, I'm sitting beside my router to minimize distance.

HP Laptop DV2815EA - Wireless Adapter Cuts Out During Streaming Video

Sep 6, 2012

My computer is a HP Laptop Model Number DV2815EA running windows vista 32 bit. Its a few years old. Recently i have had problems with my wireless adapter turning itself off whenever i watch videos online. It doesn't happen all the time, but if i am watching something for more than an hour it will cut off. There is a blue light and a switch on the front of the laptop, and when the wireless adapter is off, the light changes to red.

The light will change to red sometimes whilst watching video, and the only way i can turn the wireless back on is if i restart the system. Even if i activate and disable the wireless adapter using the external manual switch, or the internal controls using the wireless assistant. Also, not sure if this is relevant but i can no longer either watch videos on full screen as the image gets jolty.

Things i have tried:

1) restoring the system to a previous restore point - i tried this but for some reason the only restore points i could find were ones dated after i started noticing the problem.

2) reinstalling the wireless adapter driver and video card driver.

3) running a full 6 hour antivirus scan - I am using Eset NOD32 antivirus and also i scanned using comodo cleaning essentials.

Internet Cuts Out Every So Often

Apr 5, 2011

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1545, using a wireless connection with a Verizon FIOS router and service, and for the past several months or so, my internet speed will just halt from time to time. It's not a sudden stop either, I'll be able to inform people I'm talking with that it's happening, and soon I'm unable to download or upload any information from anywhere. I'm signed out of instant messengers, disconnected from servers, and I can't load webpages. The downtime will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, and it will gradually return. No torrenting is going on, no downloads are happening anywhere on my network (as far as I know), I just have to wait it out. From time to time, there are even two in a row, having a few seconds of internet access before it's gone again.

I've included screen captures of some tracerts I've done during this 'lag spike' thing. I actually apparently time out to my own router. I honestly didn't think that was even possible.I have plenty of HDD space, no processes begin taking up incredible amounts of memory, everything looks as though it should be working fine. No other computers on my network have this issue, neither the wired one or the wireless ones. Disconnecting and reconnecting to my router during these times will not stop it, I will reconnect and still be unable to access the internet.I can't seem to find any solution for it. My antivirus programs don't find anything, and nothing else is happening that leads me to believe it's some form of malware, though I definitely won't rule that out.

Internet Cuts Out When Phone Rings?

Apr 6, 2012

In my house we have ADSL2 Bigpond broadband internet and a Thomson TG782T modem/router and its been in my brother's room for a while and lately I've really been noticing the slow internet so I moved the modem/router to the kitchen as I figured it would give everyone an equal connection. The modem has a cable that goes to a DSL splitter and there is also a cable that goes from the phone to the splitter. On the other side of the splitter is a cable that goes to the wall socket. The cables that go from the phone and modem/router are short and the one from the splitter to the wall socket is quite long. The modem/router and the phone are right next to each other.I was playing COD on the Xbox and I noticed that at the time my Mum was on the phone I got the disconnect message. The connection kept settling but then a second later disconnecting and this happened frequently until she hung up the phone.

Netgear N600 - Internet Cuts In And Out Every Few Minutes

Jun 20, 2011

Im on Windows 7 Ultimate, I have Netgear N600 and a motorola and all the lights are on but when I lose connectivity to my internet, everything looks fine light wise. My whole family connects to the wireless in my house and when the internet goes down, they too, are effected. The internet would be running for a few minutes and then sadly go down for a minute then come back up. This has been happening more and more lately and its come to a point where I'm sick and tired of trying to fix it myself. Its very aggravating to be surfing the web and one point and then seeing the oh so nice "Firefox cannot connect to your internet" screen. I play World of Warcraft, as of right now, its unplayable. I'm stressing because its just a hug hassle. The Motorola and the Netgear are fairly new and I don't seem to think that would be the problem.

N300 Wnr2200 - Wifi Dropping Randomly On Acer Aspire 3820tg Laptop

Sep 20, 2011

I recently bought a netgear n300 wnr2200 router. The first day I set up the network and everything worked fine ( my ISP don't require any passwords etc, standard automatic set up - basically just typing a SSID and a password ( WEP)). The Internet worked perfectly and my iPhone, iPad, ps3 all connects without any problems whatsoever! without any more management than typing password. My laptop, acer aspire 3820tg (windows 7) worked perfectly the initial day. After this it struggles to connect. I will sometimes get the "could not connect to ...." message. Sometimes using the troubleshoot it wil fix the problem by itself. Most times not,

What is weird is that even if I get a connection I will at random intervals get " local access only" or completely dropping the connection. ( then it usually will not connect again) He wifi signal is 100%. I'm not able to make it work in a stable fashion. I have tried updating to the latest network driver for my laptops broadcom wifi adapter (from acer driver site) but this changed nothing. Turning on/off the wifi adapter does not work. Rebooting sometimes works but it's completely random. Sometimes going to network properties and enabling active settings for WLAN will let it connect (sorry if this is not the correct wording, my windows is in Norwegian) (it's the lowest box that you can check, and when this is done you can press "configure" . When pressing it just says cisco something is enabled and showing an "okay box " )

When connecting to the router, it says it has the latest firmware.

Example today: I boot pc, get an error message saying it cannot connect. I try letting windows solve it- doesn't work. I try reboot - doesn't work. I try activate WLAN settings - doesn't work. I reboot the pc - doesn't work. Third reboot (only difference is that pc is placed in a different table in my living room) and I magically get a connection. With active WLAN setting being enabled prior to boot!

I moved my pc 5 meters to another table, wifi signal is 100% but it starts dropping to only local connection !?!? I move back, and it's working again.. Funny thing is that the router is only 7 meters from the table where it's not working ( this could be a coincidence) and i can use the wifi in rooms much further away with devices that shouldn't have better WLAN adaptors(such as iPhone). I have never had any trouble with Internet connections on wifi with this laptop prior to this!

Internet Randomly Shuts Off?

Feb 5, 2013

This has been going on for a few months now, but I'm just finally getting around to finding out the issue. So basically, this is what's happening; I'm randomly browsing some pages just fine, then I try to go to another page, and I can't load the page. I try to open a new page after that, it won't load. My internet still says it's at full bar internet access. I can somehow still use pages that are open (Such as a chat program, I can still chat in there, but I can't load any pages) for as long as a few hours after the internet supposedly shuts off. Everybody else in my household doesn't, and hasn't ever had this problem before, so I seriously doubt it's the modem. I've tried moving my laptop into those places to see if it's a problem with reception in the area I'm at, though it doesn't. The only thing that will turn the internet back on again, is a computer restart. After a fresh restart, the internet will last anywhere between 4 hours to a couple of days before doing that.?

Internet Keeps Disconnecting Randomly?

Apr 13, 2011

My internet will disconnect and reconnect randomly, nothing works every time to fix it, the time online and offline is random, sometimes it works when i turn on the computer, sometimes it doesn't , sometimes it stops after a while, sometimes restarting works.

I am running Windows XP on a desktop computer with the most current service pack installed and I have a linksys wireless router installed in the computer. I know the router isn't linksys, I think it may be netgear. I have no way of connecting wired to the router. My bf's laptop running windows 7 is used wirelessly in the same room as my desktop and rarely has any problems connecting. I should mention that this problem also occurred on this computer while living in other locations and using different routers, but it was never this sporadic. It was best when used in conjunction with the linksys WRT54G router.

I realized today looking at the status of the wireless network connection that the network name and signal strength will disappear and reappear randomly, all while still saying I am connected and that I have sent and received packets, and sometimes randomly changing connection speed as well. Sometimes an alert bubble will pop up saying that my internet connection is connected and that I have excellent signal strength, with varying speeds, but the internet still doesn't work. Or sometimes it does work. How to access it.

Internet Disconnects Randomly For 1 Or 2 Minutes?

May 4, 2012

I've been having this problem for a while now but something is coming up for which i require 24/7 internet connection with NO failures. problem: about 2 to 3 times a day i lose internet connection for about 1 to 2 minutes and after that everything is totally fine again. There are 5 lights on my modem in this order from top to bottom:

Internet: This light blinks green when im using it like downloading or playing something online. It stays green when i have internet but im not sending or recieving any data.
DSL: always green.
Wireless: I use wireless connection. its always blinking orange (i dont know why orange but it works fine)
Ethernet: This light is always off cause i dont use cables.
Power: always green.

What happens is that my DSL light which is supposed to be green. starts blinking. Then after 30 seconds or so it stops and just turns green again but my Internet light turns red. It stays red for about 1 to 2 minutes and then it turns green again and works fine again. Called the company many times but they dont detect anything because when we call, its always working fine. so all they tell me to do is reset the modem which does nothing. I never had this problem at my previous house 2 years ago. it just started at this address so it makes me think it is the line and not a computer/modem problem.

Randomly Lost Internet Connection

Dec 6, 2012

I was trying to browse the internet earlier, and I randomly just lost my internet connection. My homepage loaded up just fine, but then I tried to go to another site. It was taking a while to load. After about a minute a page finally came up that said "Server not found" (I use firefox). I can't get on any websites now and I can't get internet on any of my wireless devices either. When I right clicked my network icon on the toolbar and clicked on diagnose and repair it said "There may be a problem with the DNS. Windows attempted to find the well known host www.microsoft.com using dns. The server responded that the name was unknown." I have Windows Vista. Now I have no idea what I could have done. I didn't do anything out of the normal, just tried to go to a website that I frequently visit with no problems and this happened. This is what I get when I type ipconfig/all in cmd prompt. [code]
