I used to have it connected to a modem and a router to get internet access.I recently got a new modem as the old one died and have now Wi-Fi in my home. My newer PC takes advantage of the Wi-Fi but my old PC does not.The new modem does not have a connection for the blue cable (Marked USB in back of modem) that was connecting the old PC to the internet.After reading online I think I need a USB wireless adapter but I am not sure on what I need exactly as my online searches return too much stuff (I went on Ebay).

IP lease range 192.168.1.100 to 150
Wireless SSID, Security Mode, Passphrase, Channel Width and Channel number same as Dlink
Dlink:
DHCP: disabled
AP Mode: Access point
Bridge Restrict:Enabled
Remote Bridges MAC Address: is the linksys MAC.
And I removed the Layer2Interface and WAN old configuration.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my work laptop connecting to my home network. It will connect to the internet but only briefly and then the connection is dropped. I reset or repair the connection and I can get it to re-connect but then it drops again after only a minute or two. I tried to connect it to the router directly with a cable (turned wireless off) and had the same issue. This laptop has no issues connecting wirelessly at work or to other wi-fi networks I have tried. I have another laptop in the house that has no issues connecting to the home network & internet. The issue seems only to be with this laptop at home. The laptop is a Dell using 64 bit Vista. The router is a D-link DI-524, 802.11g router and I have a DSL connection.

At first, the only way we could get this to work was by skipping the router and plugging directly in to the modem. This is not ideal - so after receiving no response here to this question - I did the following - I put his PC (by IP) in a DMZ. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

Will a WAP2000 work smoothly as a repeater when it's powered over Ethernet only and connected to the same switch as the main WAP is?
I noticed that WAP2000 connected this way was sort of 'lost' in deciding to repeat a signal or work as an independent wireless access point. The problem was immediately removed once the repeater was disconnected from the switch and powered from an outlet. I am not sure whether it was wrong addressing setup or something else that was needed to check/uncheck.
i have an old hp ipaq pocket pc (really old) but a long time ago i used to have it set up wirelesly to the internet via a D-link DCF-650 W cf card. But i can't get it to find and wireless connects. The card lights aren't flashing there just on they used to flash when I would send or receive data. I can hook to internet through my computer but i want it wireless. I found some drivers for card that i installed through win7 on computer, but how do i make it install to my pocket pc where the card is at?
