View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a wireless bridge D-Link DAP-1522 (IP fix 192.168.0.50) to share the Internet connection to two remote devices: WD TV Live HD (IP fix 192.168.0.52) and a Samsung BD P2500 player (IP fix 192.168.0.51: to try the BD-Live) but when I plug it into my network I have an IP conflict and I can not navigate anywhere, even by the computer which control the Netgear router (IP 192.168.0.1 DHCP range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.49).
I tried with all fixed IP (192.168.0.xxx Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1 DNS 192.168.0.1), but nothing to do, I have the same problem: after a few minutes after plugged the network cable into BD player the network falls.With wired connection (10 m of patch cable!!!) Samsung BD P2500 have no problem (DHCP and IP fix).
Then look closely in the information relating to devices connected to the Netgear router I noticed that all devices connected through the bridge DAP-1522 have the different IP but same MAC address and I think this could be the cause of the problem that creates the Blu Ray when it's connected to the network through the bridge, because he is not identified with any name but only as UNKNOWN as the bridge (a problem that WD Live not seen: same MAC address but is identified by name as WDTVLIVE).
How can I make the MAC addresses from the bridge will be recognized separately from my router/modem Netgear?In the settings of the bridge I noticed that you can enable or disable MAC address cloning, but if the off I would expect that cloning was not done and instead all the devices are identified by the Netgear router with the MAC address of the access bridge.The DAP-1522 masked the MAC address of device that are plugged into bridge.The router has the latest available firm while the original bridge has version 1.20 (the penultimate version available).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just been escalated to Level 3 support about my bridging issues.Bridge / Repeater mode configuration separated by 150 feet. Worked perfect for over 3 months.Upgraded firmware due to lockups starting to happen, now cant get the bridge / repeater to work longer than 15 min.After MANY support calls, new devices sent (version 2's) still no luck.
Talked to Marcelo at1 866 606 1866 and he stated that the Bridge / Repeater mode will not be supported farther than 50 Feet.(seems like a cop out to me) He didn't seem to have an answer as to why it worked for 3 Months other than interference Of which I have ran spectrum analyzers and see no Interference. **** even 10 feet away I cant get the units to work longer than 15 min.So I definitely think the 50 foot thing is a BS answer.
Also they have told me that External Antennas are not supported with these devices.Again even though People 500 feet away connect just perfect (without a bridge / repeater mode) with 50% coverage!
so here I am (spent 600 bucks) on bricks.. and nobody will support the device and I cant seem to get my money back.I have 8 customers with these devices, I am not going to use Cisco any longer. However will continue to fight this,as we all seem to have the same BS issues.
I recently bought one RV180W and two WAP121 in order to make a wireless extension of a network.I configured RV180W as Router and the three of them have the same SSID and password.Also, I added in RV180W WDS configuration both MAC Addreses of WAP121's and in WAP121's WDS configuration the MAC Address of RV180W.Even I tried in WAP121's with and without encryption using the same WPA Key of the RV180W.
The thing is that is not working at all. They work great separately but right WAP121 can't stablish WDS link with RV180W neither do the left WAP121 with RV180W.I tested WDS configuration of WAP121's and they can see each other between them using standard WDS configuration, so I assume that WDS function of WAP121's works great.Finally I try the same config but setting RV180W in WDS Bridge and WDS Repeater without any different result.Do I have any chance to make the topology I showed up would work? How do I have to configure the RV180W and WAP121's?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I have two Linksys wireless routers in my house, ( 1 Wireless-G as the Gateway attached to the DSL line, and attached to the main computer, and 1 Wireless-b model BEFW11S4v4 that I want to use as a bridge or as a repeater to send the wireless signal around the attic (2 floors away) and I have connected them via Ethernet, and then connected to the attic computer (not the main one) via Ethernet to Wireless-B, why can I not get connectivity on the attic computer?
If I forgo the Wireless-B router, and connect the ethernet to the attic computer everything is fine, but there is no wireless signal in the attic. (only downstairs where the Wireless-G is.) I believe I can access the Wireless-G and tell it to be a bridge or a repeter (?? I think) but as far as I can tell the Wireless-B is giving itself the same IP address as the Gateway Wireless-G is using, and I don't have an connectivity, so I can't change it! Im confused.
I want to make a bridge with 2 WAP4410N access points.But what is the totaly distance that the access point can make to have an good connection in an open area?
So example:one WAP4410N in a house (near a window) and the other in a house (near a window) and the 2 houses lie 200 meters of each other. Is this possible?

I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. I want to extend the range of the wireless network using a 601 (or just a relatively lowend N series). Can I just set a 601 as a repeater? Not seeing anything in the manual that provides instructions. I don't have the ability to cable the routers together. I want to do it all wirelessly if possible.

Just purchased the WR940N to use as a wireless bridge. I expected to be able to have the router join my wireless network, and provide Ethernet connectivity to 4 devices behind it. But I'm missing something in the configuration. I can get it on the wireless network, and manage it via the wireless network. But devices plugged into the Ethernet cannot get out to the Internet. Basically, I have a 192.168.1.x network, and the router is node 192.168.1.3 on the wireless network. I've turned off the firewall and DHCP on the router. The Ethernet devices behind it get an address from my network, but the router inserts its own address in as the default gateway, and my Ethernet devices do not have a route to my 192.168.1.x network, despite having an address on it.
Iv got an "old" dir 655 laying around as my secondary router and found out it had an USB slot for share port.In another room of the house Iv got a media center and an Usb printer. Can I use this dir 655 as a wireless bridge from my main router, so the media center and the printer can be connected? So both low level streaming and shared printer with share port.Or do you need to be connected directly to the dir 655 to use the usb and share port?
