View 4 RepliesDue to bandwith requirements, we need to join a network with a RV016 to a network with an RV082 via a point to point air bridge. (VPN over adls was not cutting it) fortunatelly there is line of sight.
The info
LocationA LocationB
RV016 RV082
WAN1 ADSL modem WAN1 ADSL Modem
WAN2 DedicatedIP modem WAN2 Free
WAN3..7 free
[code]....
We need LAN-B endpoints to be able to reach servers on location A and viceversa.
We pre configured two point to point radios for the tower people to install. (we could change this configs)
Topology (crude sketch)[URL]
Our questions: best port to plug the radios into the RVs WAN ports? switch ports? What rules or static routes need to be created?
i just happened to have a spare DIR 601 and I already installed DDWRT on it. Now my question is can make this as a wireless bridge or repeater? with only using the signal of my DIR 655 router upstairs?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to make a bridge with 2 WAP4410N access points. But what is the totaly distance that the access point can make to have an good connection in an open area?
So example:one WAP4410N in a house (near a window) and the other in a house (near a window) and the 2 houses lie 200 meters of each other. Is this possible?
If it is not possible with this access points, what is then an option/possibility ?
How can I make a device or an IP go through a certain WAN? Basically I want to make the PC I use on the network go through WAN2, I have tried everything but I am really stumped on how to do this, my Firmware Version: v4.0.2.08-tm

I've enabled transparent bridging on the actiontec router and have PPPOE set up in Wan 2 on the RV082.
Wan 2 shows the following information, but will not connect to anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a wireless bridge D-Link DAP-1522 (IP fix 192.168.0.50) to share the Internet connection to two remote devices: WD TV Live HD (IP fix 192.168.0.52) and a Samsung BD P2500 player (IP fix 192.168.0.51: to try the BD-Live) but when I plug it into my network I have an IP conflict and I can not navigate anywhere, even by the computer which control the Netgear router (IP 192.168.0.1 DHCP range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.49).
I tried with all fixed IP (192.168.0.xxx Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1 DNS 192.168.0.1), but nothing to do, I have the same problem: after a few minutes after plugged the network cable into BD player the network falls. With wired connection (10 m of patch cable!!!) Samsung BD P2500 have no problem (DHCP and IP fix).
Then look closely in the information relating to devices connected to the Netgear router I noticed that all devices connected through the bridge DAP-1522 have the different IP but same MAC address and I think this could be the cause of the problem that creates the Blu Ray when it's connected to the network through the bridge, because he is not identified with any name but only as UNKNOWN as the bridge (a problem that WD Live not seen: same MAC address but is identified by name as WDTVLIVE).
How can I make the MAC addresses from the bridge will be recognized separately from my router/modem Netgear? In the settings of the bridge I noticed that you can enable or disable MAC address cloning, but if the off I would expect that cloning was not done and instead all the devices are identified by the Netgear router with the MAC address of the access bridge. The DAP-1522 masked the MAC address of device that are plugged into bridge. The router has the latest available firm while the original bridge has version 1.20 (the penultimate version available).

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have two computers sharing files connected by a wired lan via an Ethernet card. Both are using XP home sp2 OS and neither of them had any Internet connection. I wanted to make one of them connect to a wireless printer so I added an Asus USB (wireless) dongle to that machine only. When first used the dongle sprang into life, connected to a wireless router in another part of the building (also mine, but nothing to do with this network) and downloaded a load of MS updates. Whilst an Internet connection was not really needed on that machine I thought 'all well and good', and proceeded to download MS Security Essentials onto that machine only. Once the printer software was installed on that computer it connected normally with the wireless printer and printed-out fine.It was only when I attempted to connect to the other computer via the hard-wired lan that I found that the connection between them was broken.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are connecting a cisco router (819) to wireless lan network (lwapp) through its wireless interface.
clients ---> 819 ---->AP (WGB) ------ lwapp ----- AP ---> LAN ---> servers.
since the clients are on the same subnet as the the VLAN on the lwapp, everything works great. When we add a new L3 VLAN on the 819 router, and we try to ping the clients from the servers, the packets can reach the clients but never received by the servers back. it seems like the bridge is dropping the packets when they go back from the client to the servers.when we use a GRE tunnel from the 819 to the LAN, everything works great.
A little background on me: I do performance testing for a large corporation, so networking is like an old hat for me - but this has me spinning because it makes no logical sense to me.Here's the layout of my home network:CableModem(passthrough) -> WRT120N -> ENH200 (Access point) -> ENH200 (Client Bridge) -> Netgear N600Both the WRT120N and the Netgear N600 are providing wireless access to clients at both locations. N600 is set not to route or DHCP, and the WAN port isn't used.Initially the WRT120N wasn't in play because the cable modem was serving DHCP, but it wouldn't successfully send DHCP to most clients on the other side of the client bridge. So I installed the WRT120N (old, I know) and it was able to serve up DHCP to any and all systems... for a while. Now DHCP doesn't appear to be working fully again on the Netgear side of the bridge. One device registers in the WRT120N, the client list shows the mac as getting assigned an ID, but the device never actually pulls the address. Static works fine. Those that already have DHCP addresses work like a charm, so I know the link is stable. pingtest.net reports near perfection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my Ipod to the internet for updates that i cant download directly with my laptop. I'm Using a Laptop (Vista) with a Built-in Wireless, and i only have internet access with a Telstra mobile internet USB.
I have created an Ad-Hoc network, but still can't get my ipod to connect to it. and i can't bridge my USB Internet connection (shows up under dialup) with my ad-hoc network (shows up under LAN/High Speed Internet). I have also changed the settings for ICS.
I want to setup a Linksys EA4500 in bridge mode behind my separate firewall to access the domain LAN. I'd also like to supply a wireless guest network for clients. In bridge mode the EA4500 doesn't seem to offer a separate guest network. Is there any solution other than adding another Wireless router just to serve up the Wireless Guest Network?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have recenly installed a RV082 with two ADSL modems connected to Broadband lines. Access to our networks is done via VPN accounts configured on Windows Vista laptops. The VPN network works fine and everyone has access to their network data and the Intranet/Internet.
I'm having problems with connecting a network printer to access over the VPN. We have managed to get a IBM1532 network printer working using the following network details by allowing the IP address of the printer through our VPN network/firewall.
We had to connect a Xerox C2424 workstation printer on site, so we configured the device using the same network details as the IBM printer, connected it to one of the available ports on one of the Broadband modems but we could not get the printer to be seen or connected to using this setup.
However I connect my own Home Laptop PC configured with the IP port settings above directly to the same modem as the Xerox printer this works but only after we changed the IP gateway address on the printer to match the modem.
If I switch on DHCP on the printer it finds the IP gateway address of the RV082 but will not allow us to send anything to it.As the ADSL lines are on a Dynamic IP rather than Static.
I have the RV082 v03 i set it for load balancing i have 2 8gb Adsl modem connected to Wan1 and Wan2
Question how can i assign a certain pc to use the connection on Wan2, what i would like is to assign a specific pc on the network to wan2
I have a router that is capable of wireless N at 5.0GHz but can't run simultaneous with it's 2.4GHz band a/b/g (Cisco Linksys E2000), so I have a second router acting as gateway for my b/g devices (and a few wired only that are nearer to it). They are connected LAN port to LAN port with 50ft of cat6 and the DHCP server running on only one router. I know this is pretty standard for multiple access points, and it works very well. But I'm moving, and in the new house, the internet access will be on one floor with the wireless N router, and the other router will need to be in the basement on the opposite end of the house, and running networking cable through the floor and walls is just too much trouble. My question is, can I replace the previous wired method with a wireless N bridge attached to the LAN port of the router in the basement and have it function in the same way as it did when it was wired, with only the DHCP server running on the wireless N router, and all devices attached to either router able to see each other? I would assume so, but I would like to know from anyone who has experience with it before I go buying the bridge.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a small home network, in which the DSL modem is some way away from the room in which I do my work. Currently, I use a pair of WAP54G access points to bridge between the two locations, and everything works OK, if slowly.Today, I bought a WRT320N router and a WET610N bridge to replace the access points, but I having a real problem configuring them to work. I think the basic problem is with the IP addresses that they use. The current configuration is:
DSL Modem -> Access Point -- several yards -- Access Point -> PC
and I want to go to:
DSL Modem -> WRT320N -- several yards -- WET610N -> PC
I guess my basic question is this a reasonable idea or should I be using something different for the WRT320N end? I don't want to change the basic IP address subnet (192.168.1.*) and I want to keep the DSL modem as the default gateway (192.168.1.254). When I installed the WRT320, it assigned itself an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the WET610N an IP address of 192.168.0.101, and I think the DSL modem also assigned the WRT320 an IP address of 192.168.1.99, so I am a little confused as to which IP addresses I should be setting where.
I was looking at a Wireshark capture off my Windows XP box, and I noticed a rather curious behavior. Every 1-2 seconds, the machine sends a ping request to my Linksys WET610N wireless network bridge, which the Windows box connects to the Internet through.
