I recently bought a new D-Link DIR 615 but I dont get adequate range in the rooms farthest away from the router. I have an old D-Link DIR 634M router which I'm told can be used as a wireless repeater. I went through several articles that describe connecting the two routers through a LAN cable. However is there a way to do the same without using a cable of any sorts?

I have already successfully upgraded the firmware to DD-WRT with no problems.What I want to do is have the D-Link DIR-601 Router set as a Repeater Bridge because I am trying to expand my wireless signal to dead spots in the house.I have NO SECURITY enabled on my NetGear Router and I am still unable to successully setup the D-link DIR-601 Router as a Repeater Bridge.

And I removed the Layer2Interface and WAN old configuration.
make dlink dsl router 2640T to be working as repeater which will be able to receive wifi signals. I've seen one guy using the same dlink dsl-2640T as wifi signal repeater where he was successfully able to receive wifi signals[CODE]

I am not able to connect via wireless to the router from a PC with Windows Vista. It works fine when I use a cable. Then I am able to connect to Internet via the router. Also, I am able to print on a wireless printer. It is also possible to use Internet from an Ipad with wifi.
The Belkin router had a different network, 192.168.2....When the cable is connected I can ping 192.168.0.1 but not when I remove the cable. In Windows Vista the connection has status "connected". When i'm configuring the router in the Dlink page(192.168.0.1 now i changed it to 192.168.1.100).. In that i go to Manual Internet Configuration>> then i select Static IP(Since i've been provided a static IP,gateway, DNS settings by my ISP) As soon as enter IP: 192.168.1.2,, and Subnet 255.255.255.0,,,Gateway : 192.168.1.1 and enter DNS details and press SAVE.. View 3 Replies View RelatedThe setup: My main router is a Belkin N. It is the DHCP controller. I have another Belkin N router connected by CAT5/RJ45, and DHCP is turned off. Each router has a different SSID, and WPA2//AES/TKIP is the security. The purpose of the second router is to act as an access point and extend the wireless range. Now I need to extend it further, but without through wireless. I had a G bridge connected to the second Belkin, and it in turn connected to a third router which was G. This worked but was sporadic. I bought an Amped SR150 N repeater to replace the bridge and third router.The repeater will connect to the second router with no problem. It shows the IP of the main router as the gateway IP. The laptop that the repeater is connected to then received an IP from the main router. However, the laptop has no internet. It also will not go to the IP of the main router.I tested the repeater by connecting it to the main router. That works fine, and the laptop gets internet. I tested the second router capability by connecting the laptop to it through wireless. That works fine to, and the laptop can go to the home page of both the main and second router. When I put the repeater back into the mix, the laptop does the same tihng: It gets a new IP from the main router, but no internet, and it will not go to the homepage of the main router.

My Dell Dimension is no longer connecting to the internet via the wireless router. I have a dlink DI-524 and a dlink wireless USB key but it no longer connects. This just started today. When I try to repair the connection, it fails on "renewing IP".
OS is Windows XP.
P.S. I have tried power cycling the modem/router but nothing works. Other computers can get on the internet via the wireless router fine.
my dlink dsl-520b dls modem is using 192.168.1.1 and is plugged into the WAN port on my dlink wireless router.the wireless router is 192.168.0.1. (these are both in the main building which is remote from my shop).Then i have a netgear wireless access point This spreads the signal properly, and I can get connectivity on all my computers -although i do have to specify a default route on the computers on my shop side of the access point.I noticed that the internet light on my modem is red which indicates no internet connection. I am still able to access the internet fine, but i would like to be able to log into the modem from my network. I was able to do this before by setting a computer with a netmask of 255.255.0.0.

I've tried resetting the router (using the button on the device) witand reinstalling the router (using the CD), but still not working. Also have tried turning off the modem, router, and restarting my computer.
I have a dlink(wireless n-300) router going through a netgear wireless g router, i have an intel wifi link 5100 agn in my acer aspire 6930g laptop & the isp is high speed cable (Shaw cable). My question is, why does my computer have to reset the router every minute or so? It takes forever to get anything on the web which could be Bitdefender 2012 plus security?
