I tried to set up Tenda W311R as a repeater to increase the coverage. I have done the following, but still it cannot get Internet access:Set up WDS with the same channel and use the same encryption as the Linksys router; Disable the DHCP in the W311R;From the wireless point of view, I can see the Tenda router, but no Internet access.
View 3 RepliesI got a new Tenda W311R+ Wireless-N Broadband Router yesterday. I already have a wired broadband internet connection in my home with a Beetel 110TC1 modem. I did following:
1. Connected the Beetel modem to the Tenda router using an Ethernet cable
2. Connected the Tenda router to my PC using another Ethernet cable.
3. Went to 192.168.0.1 (as mentioned in the instructions sheet which came along with the router)
Now, what should I set as the access mode, ADSL Dial-up or DHCP? Are there any other settings I should change in order to enhance the speed? I have Windows XP SP3. Also, do I need my Beetel modem or can I use the router without it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup my network in my home, so that I can extend the wireless signal from my main router by using an access point (a tenda w311r+).But, I want to do it so that the access point isn't connected to the main router with a cable, I want it to be connected to the main router wirelessly.It does say on the box that it can 'bridge' multiple wireless routers.
The access point I have also has 4 ethernet ports on it, so I will use one of these to plug my xbox 360 into.I also want the main router to be responsible for the DHCP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRVS4400N setup as a main router for one of our bays. For wired connections it is working with no problems. When I first installed it it ran fine for wireless as well. I was trying to get WDS to work and at some point the wireless stopped working. My laptop can no longer connect to it and often cannot see it when doing a scan for networks. I have already checked that it isn't a problem with the laptop, that there are not other networks causing interferance, and even tried resetting to default configs.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to setup a repeater down stairs for better wifi signal but am running into a problem. The main router I use for my network is a Linksys WRT54GL. The router I'm trying to hook up as a repeater is a Asus RT-N10+. The issue I'm running into is that they both use the same IP address for the web gui so when I try to configure the Asus it goes straight to my Linksys instead.
I tried to disconnect the Linksys in order to get the Asus going in repeater mode but didn't work. What I'm wanting to do is change the router IP address on the Asus so I can have both of them online at the same time to get the Asus going as a repeater. I tried to change the Asus IP but when I did it asked me something along the lines of whether I wanted to change the DHCP address being it didn't match what I had typed in as the router IP.
Our customer setup requires an outdoor WAP (the main WAP) and two wireless signal repeters (that will be WAP2000). The repeaters will be powered over the Ethernet only and will be connected to the same switch as the main WAP (unknown vendor). My question is:
Will a WAP2000 work smoothly as a repeater when it's powered over Ethernet only and connected to the same switch as the main WAP is?
I noticed that WAP2000 connected this way was sort of 'lost' in deciding to repeat a signal or work as an independent wireless access point. The problem was immediately removed once the repeater was disconnected from the switch and powered from an outlet. I am not sure whether it was wrong addressing setup or something else that was needed to check/uncheck.

The came with the 2.0.0.5 FW rev installed, so unless the 2.0.0.5 on the cisco DL site is different, nothing I can do with that.I've tried making them work as stand alone AP's, Bridge<-> Bridge, etc... all modes seem to lock up eventually needing a reboot to get any functionality back.Ultimately, I need to make them work in AP<->Client-Repeater mode. I've not been successful in making them work in any mode for a prolonged period of time.
having just rfound this thread today, I have not tried hard coding the NIC's to 100/full, but will give it a try. If it works, great, but then that would defeat the purpose of buying an N radio AP. I would like the potential 300Mbps throughput.

To improve wireless connectivity on the other end of the property I am thinking of placing a wifi repeater (probably a cheap one like http:[URL]... mid-point in the property. However I don't quite understand how these things work. I assume repeaters, extenders, boosters are all the same thing?
Does the repeater actually create a new seperate wifi network, so I will effectively have two wifi networks/SSIDs? or will my wireless devices still see only one wifi network? If it creates two wifi networks what happens when I move through the property with say a laptop, will the laptop need to disconnect from one and reconnect to the other hence interrupting the connection? (which is not ideal).
Also does the repeater take up an IP from my main wireless access point/modem? My setup uses a block of static IPs and hence I would prefer not to waste an IP on the repeater if possible.Homeplugs is something else I'm looking into but that seems to be a more expensive option. With Homeplugs I would disable the wireless on the main access point/modem. Then use the Homeplug to put a wireless access point in the centre of my property hence giving fuller coverage.I've also tried higher DBi antennas (& directional ones) but they have not been effective.

I have changed the WAP200’s AP Mode setting to Repeater, and picked up the 877W’s MAC Address.The WAP200 is broadcasting and I can connect to the wireless network, but I don’t get DHCP. It’s almost like it’s still in Access Point mode.

This is the 2nd WR702N I have purchased. The first worked as a repeater for a short time and then failed with the fading symptom. I returned it. The second did not work as a repeater even for a short time. The signal is OK for a few seconds and then fades out. I updated the firmware.
I have 3 WAP200 wireless-G access points. I have one set up as an AP the other two are set up as repeaters to the main AP.
My question is Do I need a lan connection to each repeater ?
also, do I need to create SSIDs for all three? & if so, do they need to be the same?
Can the Aironet 1310 setup as a repeater? I could not make the AP as the repeater associated to another 1310 ap. This AP is running LADAP.
