Linksys Cable / DSL :: How To Update WAG54G V1.2 Firmware

Feb 17, 2011

I have a WAG54G ver 1.2, 4-port eth + wireless adsl router.  The latest firmware update on the support download site is  Ver.1.02.1 from 05/18/2004 which is ridiculous! [URL] This is the ver I have installed on the router and lt does not even have WDS setting, so the device is more or less useless.I have checked open-source alternatives (the wrt line) but they all start with WAG54G V2 and none support the earlier models v1 and v1.2 I need to somehow upgrade this router to something functional.  I have checked the GPL code page as well and while there ls a listing for WAG54g, I think itd for V3 routers.  So the question is:

1. Is GPL source code usable on v1.2 (I assume not)

2. any suggestions to get a wds system on the router (including beta / alpha firmware)

All of a sudden, the router's internal ethernet switch has started to get very slow at connecting to local machines. None of the settings have been changed lately. When I use WI-FI, the problem doesn't occur.

Linksys Access Point :: Connect And Configure WAP54G Access Point To New Cable Modem?

Nov 1, 2012

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

So as to make the laptop connect to the internet wirelessly, I hooked up a Linksys router (Linksys model # BEFSR41) and a Linksys access point (Linksys model # WAP200). Everything is working flawlessly except for one big problem. My network is listed as "unsecure". What steps do I have to take to make my network "secure"? The operating software in the laptop is Windows Vista. How to make my network secure. Let me just mention that the laptop and desktop are home computers and are both primarily used for "fun and leisure". No business "stuff"

Cisco Application :: 4710 / How To Make ACE And Caching Setup Work

May 19, 2013

Im trying to make a ACE+caching setup work. Ace is running A5(1.2)Content types considered static (like images, stylesheets and javascripts) should be fetched from caches instead of servers.Content from the caches that can be compressed should be compressed by the ACE (stylesheets and javascripts).I am classifying traffic into * static, not compressable (content should be fetched from caches but is already compressed - this class will hold .jpg, .gif, .png, .ico and others - but for this experiment the class is defined with only (a never to be hit) content type .xico* static, compressable (content should be fetched from caches but can be compressed by the ACE - this class will hold .css and .js but for this experiment is defined only with (never to be hit) content types .xjs and .xcssother For statistics purpose I have included a catch all class for everything else (which shold be send to servers) - class-default is configured but will not be hit in this example because of the catch-all class I configured.Since both "STATIC" classes include only content types that has been renamed to content types not used in the real world, I will not expect any hits on those and since WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_COMPRESSABLE is the only class configured for compression I expect that nothing will be compressed since there wil be no hits on this class.

This is how it looks in the configuration:

class-map type http loadbalance match-any WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_NOT_COMPRESSABLE  10 match http url .*.xico
class-map type http loadbalance match-any WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_COMPRESSABLE  10 match http url .*.xjs  20 match http url .*.xcss
class-map type http loadbalance match-any WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_DEFAULT  10 match http url .*

[code]....

Questions are: Why do I see things being compressed when there is only being accounted hits in a compression:off class ?Why does enabling compression in one class (never being hit) cause hits in other clases to be compressed ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can E3000 Work As Access Point Only

Jun 14, 2011

I needed the Guest access of wi-fi setup that LinkSysys routers provided. I don't need the router/modem i just want to have wi-fi access point. I'm an advanced user and i can work with manual setup etc.I tried to do a manual setup of the router, i changed the IP address to mask my network and enable wi-fi and worked BUT the guest access option is NOT available unless you use the stupid CISCO connect software.

Now the cisco connect software IS NOT working or complete the setup if you don't connect it through the router and gain Internet access which is IMPOSSIBLE for me to accomplish as my modem is connected to a firewall device and we are using static DSL options with PPPoE and usernameme/password. There is no way i can get cisco connect to load properly as it always "fixes my connection trying to gain Internet access".Is there any solution on manually properly setup this router and take full advantages of it capabilities or should i return it ?

Linksys Access Point :: WES610N Cannot Get Into Web-based Setup

The WES610N bridge seems to work fine, but I cannot get into the web-based setup.  I have tried using it directly through my laptop, as the instructions show, then through an Asus RT-53N as a router. I did have the 610 connected to my laptop's ethernet socket, where it provided internet through the Asus RT-53N wireless router just fine, but when I tried to access the setup, again, it would not work. Next, I tried it through a desktop and Linksys RVS4000, again nothing. I would like to check the firmware and see what else is in the menu.
