I recently purchased a WAG320N router and have issues with access restrictions. Internet is shut down regardless of the time set with the policy or policies. I am using firmware version V1.00.12. Tried rebooting router, restoring factory defaults & restarting IMAC to no avail. Timezone checked and OK.
View 5 RepliesI have set up several Website Blocking by URL Address & Website Blocking by Keyword that work as expected but the router seems unstable when they are in use and often reboots at random occasions.For example, last 2 crashes happened like this:
opened a website that wouldn't load because it contained one of the keywordsopened a new tab to go to http://192.168.1.1as soon as I hit ENTER router rebootedanother occasion:
Went to Access Restrictions and Disabled an Internet Access Policy (did not close the tab).Opened a new tab and went about my businesslater went back (to the already open router tab) to Enable the Internet Access Policyclicked Save Settingsentered router password againclicked OK and it crashed (rebooted)

How does the storage work with a WAG320N device via USB if I am using a Ubuntu 10.04/10.10 et al?
Does it look like an FTP site or can I just use it as a shared folder accessible though the normal folder directory structure from any machine on the network.
This will work, the Netgear I have does this seamlessly, how do I set this up as I cant find any info in the manuals/online help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a WAG320N, primarily for the faster networking speeds and the ability to attach a USB hard drive to my network.The only problem is that I have little idea how I get this network storage thing to work. Cisco haven't really supplied any documentation on how to work this.So far I've plugged in a hard drive and formatted it through the router's web interface, with no trouble at all.But, after doing this I have no idea how to access my hard drive on the network.I would assume that it would appear automatically on my network for me to access freely.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been playing with multicasting on my home network and have hit a problem in that all multicast messages seem to be spewing out over the WIFI regardless of whether there any any subscribers present or not which is swamping all other WIFI traffic. The wired LAN seems to be behaving just fine (no traffic on the wired network if no subscribers present).
how do I filter the multicast messages so that they are not sent out over the WIFI (unless a WIFI subscriber is present)? I have tried enabling the IGMP proxy but it makes no difference. I've tried messing with lots of other parameters too but no joy. Does multicast filtering actually work (or exist) on the WAG320N?
I am trying to get a cell phone to have access to my LAN from 3am to 7am. I gave the policy a name, allowed access, checked everyday and the time 3a to 7a. Under edit list of PCs, I entered the MAC address of the phone, and I have also entered the MAC address of the phone on the wireless>edit mac filter list, though didn't know if I should.

The WAG320N will be used with a USB Music harddrive and a TV and PVR connected to it - so my music will be direct to the DLNA devices - and also provide any devices with a 5Ghz signal

Sometimes my internet connection is lost and if I'm home, I just reset it and the internet is on again.
But when I am away and the internet connection is lost, I can not access my computer. If only I could reset it, I would be able to access the computers I am trying to find a solution to do this.
Practically when the internet connection is lost, the modem does not get an IP from the ISP right? And when this IP is not assigned, there is no way of connecting to the router itself right? Is there a way of pinging or resetting or accessing a modem that is connected to he phone line? I think it is impossible. Or maybe it is possible via some MAC address search or sniffer or I don't know.
Another option would be to somehow have the modem reset, let's say every hour automatically so that the max time I would not be able to accss my computers remotely would be 1 hour.
I have a flat that is about 500Sq meters in size and multiple rooms. I am looking to setup one WAG320N in the library with the ADSL connection and setup wireless. Can I then wireless a WAP610 or another AP in the living room and in the dinner room and in one bedroom and set it up with the same Wireless network so they can move seamlessly through the flat? Can they act in repeater mode? Which Modem Gateway and Access Point or Repeater can do it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an intermittent issue with a new WAG320N.Device is new (installed for 1 month now) and is running the latest firmware "out of the box".
Device was confirmed as working (recommended) via the ISP, as it uses a Broadcom chipset, so it works "more reliably" with the ISP's hardware which uses the same chipset.
Setup was painless and the router synced up fine and has been operating for a few weeks. However, twice in the past week the router has become unresponsive to ping over the LAN. Furthermore, the device's lights indicate everything is OK, however I have to reset the router (power cycle) and then it returns to normal.
WIFI is OFF. LAN IP is set manually, DHCP is OFF. The router is plugged into it's own UPS.
How to configure settings for router E4200I live in Finland and bought new Cisco Linksys WAG320n router modem as I am experienced Cisco user. However after spending several hours and setups on the WAG320n router I cannot get it to connect on the ISP ADSL line.

But once I setup these or acutally any other setting I cannot get the router to connect. With the right settings I can get the DSL PVC status up and connected but the ModemRouter cannot connect and retrieve IP-address from ISP.
I'm trying to play some online games and my WAG320N does not forward ports, upnp does not function and to top it off DMZ wont even work (not a software firewall issue either). I have the latest firmware (and honestly the stock firmware is terrible).
Am I out of luck or is there something I can do to fix this? I sure as hell will be steering clear of linksys products after this.

Power cycling it SOMETIMES does the trick but it will still get slow. It has been slow just now and over here it is midnight so the internet peak should be down and my internet should be faster but its now.

I have only purchased this modem a few days ago (upgraded from a working Netgear DGN2000 for Gigabit).... it's solid most the time except for once a day when it needs to be reset.
One morning I accessed a single website, only to find the next wouldn't come up. (approx 7:30am) Lastnight the net was working fine at 11:30pm.... Thismorning I woke up, checked my download manager to find that at 2:30am all queued downloads failed, so the ADSL dropped sometime inbetween then.
The LAN and Wifi still work fine, when I go into the settings and click "reconnect" nothing happens. I need to turn the modem off for a min before it works ok. There is no newer firmware as of yet to try.
I do not have a "storage" tab in my setup screen. I have Setup, Security, Wireless, etc. According to its manual there must be a Storage tab between security and wireless. Mine doesn't have it. USB drive is connected and I see "mywag320n" on the network but I can't access it because it requires login and password (which I guess I must set up from Storage tab )
