Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG54G Internal Switch Get Very Slow At Connecting
Jan 30, 2012
All of a sudden, the router's internal ethernet switch has started to get very slow at connecting to local machines. I can observe the connection fading in and out on each connected machine for up to half an hour until it gets stable. None of the settings have been changed lately. When I use WI-FI, the problem doesn't occur.
I have a WAG54G ver 1.2, 4-port eth + wireless adsl router. The latest firmware update on the support download site is Ver.1.02.1 from 05/18/2004 which is ridiculous! [URL] This is the ver I have installed on the router and lt does not even have WDS setting, so the device is more or less useless.I have checked open-source alternatives (the wrt line) but they all start with WAG54G V2 and none support the earlier models v1 and v1.2 I need to somehow upgrade this router to something functional. I have checked the GPL code page as well and while there ls a listing for WAG54g, I think itd for V3 routers. So the question is:
1. Is GPL source code usable on v1.2 (I assume not)
2. any suggestions to get a wds system on the router (including beta / alpha firmware)
could it the wireless ADSL modem + AP (e.g., WAG54G) coverage the wireless adapter. If answer is negative, then if both (wireless modem & wireless adapter), close to window, how?Again, if answer is negative, then may via Detachable Antenna of any devices that install out of window builds?
i'm facing a big problem with my access point WAG54G ver 2.0 ,i just bought it from 2 days but i find alot of problems when i start using it ,i have read all the user guide and the quick install to see how to setup the access point and make it work with my adsl.i have configured all things right using PPPOE and putting my user name and password and then save settings then go to the status and press on connect , but it don't connect with me just i find connecting and adsl link : Down and still making connecting and nothing after that and my adsl led is off haven't any colors ,and when i get again to basic setup i found the password that i put it in the ppoe login is too long , not my password i tried to see what is this password and recover the hidden i found it " d6nw5vlx2pc7st9m ".i don't know what is the problem i tried alot of times to change setting and also the same problem.i think that it's a frim ware problem and i tried install a new updated frimware but everytime trying to install it get installing and suddenly stoped and white page appeard and all the access point is stopping and when restart it the ac power.
The network card in my PC supports 1Gbit ethernet, my 2TB NAS also supports 1Gbit ethernet, however both of these are currently run through a 100Mbit cable modem/router thus reducing the connection speed. I was wondering if I purchased a 1Gbit switch and connected all my devices directly into that, then connected it into the cable modem, would the PC communicate with the NAS directly via the switch or would it go through the cable modem?
I want to connect internet via telephone cable by using rj11 jack from my ethernet switch to another computer it is 150mts away from my office premises.
I have a 3560 series switch and two comcast cable modems. I connected the modems to them switch via cross over cables and set an OSPF routing on their subnets. I connected my wireless router to another port of the switch and set its gateway IP on the switch port. I can ping the modem with the switch and I can ping the wireless too. But I cannot access to the Internet via the wireless router.
I need load balancing on two cable modems and get a single network connection via the wireless router.
When i connect two cisco 2960 series switchs via stright trough cable causes delay in transmission sw1 has vlans and having trunk port connected to router all vlans are able to access internet sw2 is connected to vlan5 on switch1 sw2 has factory default configuration computers on sw2 can access internet but I have low bandwith problem on sw2 there is transmission delay problem?
I recently bought the WAG320N and initial setup (Wizard) went fine ....(I selected all the defaults as presented to me so I did not afterwards modify anything on the settings)However ...when powering off (and back on) the device , my Dreambox Sattelite units (DM500) could not get access to the internet anymore (outbound) on port 12000.All other internet traffic went fine ...through browser, wireless, ...all Ok.....I tried everything to resolve but ultimately only succeeded in re-configuring from sracth. powered off the device and brought it back up ....same symptons.Did a hard-reset (back to factory defaults), reconfigured through wizard and ...all Ok again .....until I powered the device off and back on .....I have come to a point now where I excluded all possible 'surrounding' disturbing factors (eliminated switches etc ....and only connected 1 Dreambox unit directly to the device) and ....same symptons ....when powering off/on, the dreambox cannot get out anymore and re-configuring from sracth resolves ....until the next power off/on.And ...it is really the power off/on handling (reboot procedure WAG320N ?) that is causing it .....(I disconnected the DSL line and put it back in , forcing the modem to reconnect DSL and then all still works Ok ). ? It seems as if certain -internal- settings get lost after a power shutdown.....but why specifically port 12000 ?

This WAG320N Router can get really slow after a while use which is really frustrating for me since I am a gamer. Power cycling it SOMETIMES does the trick but it will still get slow. It has been slow just now and over here it is midnight so the internet peak should be down and my internet should be faster but its now.
Transferring a file between a wired Win 7 machine and a wireless Snow Leopard mac seems to top out at 32Mbps.I've seen over 60Mbps on this laptop using N networks before, and when I wire the laptop I get a more respectable 240Mbps (presumably maxing out the server's disk I/O rate), so I'd say the issue is the router.
Things I have already tried:updating the firmware to 1.00.125Ghz modeFinding the least crowded 2.4Ghz channelswide channelsSetting network mode to N-onlySetting the transmission rate to 108Mbpschanging the beacon interval to 50, the frag threshold to 2201 and the RTS threshold to 2202
I have a WAG120N which runs speedtest.net at 0.1 Mbs. My old router used to get 6 Mbs.I have tried a firmware update & reset, reduced the MTU to 1300 but still no different.Windows Vista & 7 - two different computers, same speed...
I'm having issues with the wireless speed of my WAG160N. I'm using WPA2/AES, firmware: V2.00.20. The wireless connection signal is very good and the speed shows 130 Mbit/s.
On a wired connection when testing with numion.com I get 6 Mbit/s which is my DSL speed (this is great). On the wireless connection I get max 1,8 Mbit.
I was using Billion ADSL 2+ modem since last 6 years. It was working well but I need Wireless LAN N speed connection and I bought Linksys WAG320N.After configuring the modem my download speed has come doen't to less than 1Mb/s. When I connect to my old Billion I am getting 16Mb/s. [code]
I have recently purchased a WAG320N. Hard wired to my desktop has a reasonable speed. Wireless to any of our lap tops and it is very slow. Do I need to adjust any factory settings to improve the wireless speed ?
I have the above router, but I have noticed that the USB Transfer speed is very poor. I have a WD External HD plugged into the router and id i transfer filed from my server which is hardwired to the router I only get a transfer speed of about 2.5MB/s. For a USB device I was kind of thinking I would be getting a minumm of atleast 50-60MB/s.
My Linksys WAG200G worked like a charm in these 4 years, never had connection problems... the firmware was 1.00.09 One week ago i updated the firmware to last version (1.01.09) and now i have slow connection problems, sometimes it doesn't load web pages... I tried to hard reset and I tried to downgrade to different firmwares found on the web (1.01.01 and 1.01.05)What should I do? Is it possible to find the original 1.00.09 img?
My ISP recently upgraded my line to ADSL2+. I am still only getting 1.36Mbps download speed across WiFi but if I connect my laptop to the router with ethernet cable I get 8.59Mbps. Why is the router slowing down my connection so much?
Recently I have changed my ISP and switched from an ADSL (4Mbps) connection to a faster fiber connection (100Mbps). I own an WAG120N which after firmware 1.00.12 (currently installed on the device is 1.00.16) should allow LAN1 to be used as WLAN. This is true and I can use it to connect to the new provider.
However the speed when using LAN1 as WLAN on WAG120N is very slow: download 20Mbps and upload 10Mbps. The LED on LAN1 is orange instead of green as before. I have tested the ISP connection with an WRT160NL and the speeds are much faster: download/upload 87Mbps
problems when I wanted to connect my laptop to my WAG120Nrouter for the first time.First the wireless adapter on my windows xp gives me the error "unable to verify your identity"second when i passed the security verification by bypassing the security options on the connection properties of the adapter, windows tries to acquiring network address and continues it for hours. Seems Windows cannot get any ip address from the router. The router works fine with wired Ethernet devices and my iPhone when i connect it wirelessly.
Two years ago I bought a WAG160N for modem (ADSL) and router functionality. I consider to buy a pure router (E3000 or E4200) to connect to the WAG160N and use that one purely as the modem. How and what should I configure/disable on my WAG160N?
Model: Linksys CM100 Cable Modem, purchased December 2010
Modem goes dead immediately after 3rd light goes solid. All lights go out and the modem stops functioning completely. Using the reset button gives no response, the modem stays dead. Upon unplugging and plugging it back in, the modem turns back on and cycles through the lights, only to die out once again.I was initially able to get it to stay alive by starting it with the Ethernet cable disconnected then plugging it in once the modem had connected, which I found odd. After a relatively short period, say 20 minutes, the modem would randomly die out again. However even that has since stopped working.
I have recently bought a WAG320N modem Gigabite router to substitute the modem router supplied by the internet service provider (in theory less performant).
Formerly I have a wireless router Zyxel (MOD. P660HW-D1). The main computer is wired (connected trough ethernet), I have also a NAS device (WD mybook world 1TB with Twonky as server) wired and a third wired connection for the above mentioned PLK 300. The PLK 300 (4 Inputs and one output) is used to connect a TV (Sony BRAVIA) a Bluray (SONY) a PS3 (Sony) and a multimedia HD (DVICO). All this was working properly. I have internet access from TV, PS3,... I was able to run videos, photos,... stored in the NAS from TV,....
I decided to change for improving the transfer speed and to allow a better wireless connection (I have initially coverage problems, but because I only use the wireless rarely...).Initially I bought a Linksys E 3000 (I thought it was possible to connect it directly to internet and not trough a modem. I asked to several people and in several shops but no one told me this was not possible). That was my first failure: I would like to suggest the liknsys people to clearly explain this on the product sheet to avoid that not very well informed people like me commit the same error.
Then I chaged the E3000 by the WAG320N. I connect the new modem-router like the former (Zyxel). No room for big errors, just the power, DSL line and ethernet cables. It works for the PC and the NAS but the PLC (PLK300) do not appears to work. Several tries later (including plugin the PLK on the line 1 input of the router it is shown on the network map but do not work. I do not have access to the internet nor to the NAS contents form TV,....
I go back to the former router and everything works again in the simplest way (I have internet access form TV,...) except the Twonky access to the NAS from TV ¿?. I do not know exactly what I have changed,...)
I have a Linksys WAG200G, I only use it for 2 devices a Win 7 PC and an iPad.
Surfing the net is fine, I'm get an average of 30ms when I ping to my local ISP.
But when I try to stream music or movies from my PC to iPad via iTunes, it starts playing for a couple of seconds then it stops, and then it will start again for a few more seconds. I tried pinging from PC to iPad and get a range from 400ms-2500ms.
I'm not sure which settings I need to adjust to make it work correctly.
The wireless router, which is a linksys E1200 is completely new. I setup the entire wireless and there was no problems on that front. The problem is the wireless connection. Even when I am within a few inches of the router, I couldn't even load a youtube video properly. It buffers every 2 seconds. But when I plug the cable into my computer, it works completely fine. The signal strength is excellent all the time.
I tried using inSSIDer to look for the number of connections within my area for the one with the least inteference and found that I'm already on the good one, or actually, all of them looked more or less the same. But I tried changing anyways from 1 to 6 to 11, and none of them made a difference.I then tried changing my Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal. Then I tried changing the Wireless Network Mode to Wireless-G Only instead of Mixed and the wireless speed increased.
Ive bought recently WAG160n and Ive watched that I have problem with slow speed of WiFi. On LAN cable its ok. Internet provider gives my up 20Mb/sec. download and up to 1Mb/ses. upload. Ive visited
[code]....
I add, that my previous router: WAG200G on this same line gives me 14-16 Mb/sec. download on WiFi. Why upload speed is ok, but download not?
