is it possible to configure a Cisco 878 Router to act as a device(router) between a DSL Modem and the LAN ?
There is the following scenarium: "Deutsche Telekom DSL Modem -> Cisco Router 878 -> LAN"
DSL is an SDSL Connection with a static IP address.

The point is, when configuration is done and PPPoE client is directly connected to the interface, SR520 doesn´t respond to incoming PADI. PADI is not shown in PPPoE debugs (debug pppoe events, packets and errors).On the other hand, I get the PADI capturing packets with wireshark (so PADI is being sent) and the same configuration on other router works fine.

I am using a PPPoE connection using a linksys WRT54G router (working perfectly) and am now trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range. I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection?My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.

I have tired other peoples configs found on the web but, not all the commands were available on the IOS version thats on the router. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRight now I have it connected like this: Internet-> SURFboard SB6120 Modem -> DGL-4100 Router (modem in the WAN port, 3 internet connections plus the switch in the LAN ports) -> DGS-1008G Switch (2 other internet connections connected to this, as well as an Xbox 360).The problem is that everything connecting to the router works, and nothing works on the switch even though the power light is on (however, the port on the router that is receiving the switch is not lit up). I'm guessing this is because the router only assigns as many IP addresses as it has ports or something.

I can't seem to figure out how to assign VLANs correctly in trunk and access mode on the SF300. The 2960S are a no brainer with IOS commands but the webgui in the SF300 is a pain.
I've configured the 2960S with 3 VLANs and I would like to have the SF300 switches connect to the C2960S-48TS-L through VLAN trunk and then configure the ports on the SF300 switches to belong to the assigned VLANs of my choosing. I would also like to have all the SF300 switches management interface in VLAN 50.

I have a Cisco 2940 switch and a Cisco 1841 router. I want to build two different VLAN networks on the switch, which do not have to communicate one with each other, but those VLANS should communicate with the router.
I read a lot of articles, i tried to configure properly the switch and the router but i still don't get them work.
I set on the switch, the GigabitEthernet 0/1 port to Trunk port and i had to set it a native VLAN. The problem is that only from that native VLAN, i can ping the router.
I have just changed my ISP and received a Thomson TG712 Modem, router and VoIP Gateway. Nice device, but I would like to extend my wi-fi network and connect a couple of PCs to another router in a different area using an almost new Linksys E4200 as a second router.I have already wired a network cable from the TG712 to the location where the E4200 is, tested the connection using a laptop, but cannot configure the E4200 to work receiving Internet service from the TG712.

I have a Cisco 877 doing PPPoE through a ISP supplied modem that is in bridge mode (long story). When the DSL drops on the modem it takes around 5 to 10 mins for the 877 to redial the connection.
Here is the config I'm running:

Its possible some of that config is redundant but I've tried as much as I can see online.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to find a way to configure my 851 for home use. My internet provider use PPPoE with PAP and althrough I found many configuration options they all are incomplete...or i cant find the logic behind those commands. First of all I need to say what I need:
1. Configurate my int Fa4 (WAN) with pppoe so when i insert my ISP cable in it it will negotiate and take IP.
2. Configurate DHCP on LAN (Fa0-3) so that when I insert my PC it will take a fake IP.

1. MTU - Should I use the 1492 value or the "pppoe-client ppp-max-payload 1500"?

I am using ASA 5505 with firmware 8.2(2). My ISP uses PPPoE as a WAN connection protocol. There is a problem with getting PPPoE session started on my ASA 5505. The debug output says that after negotiation of PPP-authentication protocol ASA receives a PADT packet from ISP’s concentrator. To get more information I captured all packets on outside interface with WireShark. Packet-dumps (in .pcap format) are attached in this post. I have tried all possible combinations of PAP/CHAP/MSCHAP values in “vpdn group MYGROUP ppp authentication” command. If you take a look at the packet-dumps you can see, that in case of “PAP” – ISP’s concentrator rejects negotiation (PAP is not supported by my ISP). In case of CHAP/MSCHAP (that ARE supported by my ISP) – ASA acknowledges the using of MSCHAP v.2 PPP-auth protocol, which is actually not supported by it…
Judging by MAC-addresses of ISP’s concentrators it is visible that Cisco’s equipment also is used.
The questions is: Why ASA acknowledges using of unsupported ppp-auth protocol during negotiation and what I need to do to resolve this issue? (ISP’s support says, that they cannot change PPP-auth protocol negotiation order. Also they says that I need to contact with manufacturer of my equipment).
I have cisco router model 1921 , how can i terminate my existing pppoe connection to 1921, so that my other LAN users can use internet.
1- One cable (RJ45) which is comming from ONT has connected with Integrated WAN Port on router.
