When it comes to configuring my new Linksys Cisco WRT120N router to my PPPoE connection. I've visited 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure what to do next. So, I've got a PPPoE connection, static IP address, Linksys Cisco WRT120N router and a terrible ISP.
How to configure my new router so that I can start using the wireless for Internet access at home.
I have configure pppoe on my WRT120N it say it's connected but cannot access wan side of the router.

I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection?My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

Right now my router is configured as Automatic DHCP with the modem doing the PPPoE connection. All is fine and well.
Since I own a PS3, and Nat Type 3 conection is really bad for my online gaming, I would like to bridge my modem and connect to the internet through my router. That way I can properly forward my ports, use QoS and effectively get a better connection on the PS3.
I was able to successfully bridge the modem, but the PPPoE config on the router isn't able to connect to the internet.
Modem and router have been reinitialized after the configurations were changed. I do have the username and passwords, and they were properly put on the router.
I'm trying to configure an 887VA for a pppoe ADSL2+ connection with no luck.I know the ISP requires pppoe (LLC), and the pvc is 8/35.
The CD light is on, and the line is up, but the 887 just won't connect

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my old WAG54GS to WAG160N-E1 (Annex B). I've configured the PPPoE connection and everything was up and running... for about an hour. Then the router started dropping internet connection on pretty much regular basis (every 40-50min?) - it then takes 1-2 min until it reconnects again... Obviously that makes any online gaming a nightmare.
I'm now running again on the WAG54GS and everything is ok (except it doesn't support >6Mbps speed which is the reason I upgraded the router in the first place) so it's not an issue with the ADSL line.

On the one PC, it keeps losing network connection. I've tried upgrading the router's firmware, reset, etc. to no avail.
I think it may be related to the same IP address being assigned to multiple machines connected to the router. Is there a way to set specific IP addresses to each item connected to the router to see?

The wireless is set to mixed mode, with WPA Personal encryption, with key renewal set at the default 3600 seconds. My problem is that the connection is not stable. I can be connected with one computer, then, as soon as another computer joins the network, I get kicked off. This happens with all of my 5 computers. In addition to this, several of my computers will not automatically connect to my network after the computer is restarted. When I try to reconect manually, it says the network is unavailable. The only way I can get back on is if I go into "Control PanelManage Wireless Networks" and delete the setting for my network, then connect again through the "Connect to a network" window.4 of my computers are running Windows Vista with a minimum of Service Pack 1. The Other is running XP with Service Pack 2.

I have a very unusual issue though.
I can connect my iphone and Xbox wirelessly through my router with no issues on their side. However, any time I do so, it kills my wired connection on my PC. I'm not doing huge downloads or P2P or anything like that. In fact, the speed drops immediately on my PC the moment I connect my phone to the wireless network regardless of what i'm doing on the phone (checking email or loading a webpage).
Used an E4200 version 1 to terminate PPPoE on a really high speed connection? By that I'm talking say 400Mb or higher.

I have a Linksys Wireless-N Home Router, WRT120N to be exact, and I have been having problems with my wireless. My wifi losses internet connection intermittently. This does not happen when I am connected directly to the router with a Ethernet cable. I have redone all the settings many times(like 6) and Im still having the same problem.

I have a WRT120N, and have set up connections like this:
Desktop PC: Hardwired Ethernet
Laptop: Wireless
Xbox 360 (1): Ethernet
Xbox360 (2): Wireless
Networked Printer: Wireless
The hardwired connections are fine, but at random the Printer, laptop and wireless Xbox connections will drop out and i'll have to reboot the router to get it working again. I've tried everything I know of (i.e., Static IP, Port Forwarding) as well as a factory reset, but I continue to have this issue.
I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router that I have had for almost three years now. It recently has started dropping all internet connections very randomly, sometime multiple times in an hour. I will lose my connection to the internet and connection locally to other laptops then it will reconnect. It is also disconnecting when wired as well as I have a playstation using a wired connection out of the router and it loses connection all the time as well. What is causing this, I am pretty sure it is the router and not my internet service.

When I come home with my iPhone & my wife is on her computer, suddenly the wifi stops. And vice-versa. It's ridiculous. I'm not a computer programmer but if I was I'm pretty sure this would be a no-brainer to fix. Especially if the company that paid me took pride in their products.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI’ve bought a router, and a wireless antenna for my laptop, since I have a high-speed internet outlet in the living room, but I use my laptop in the kitchen (I don’t have any other pc). So I’ve configured my Linksys WRT120N router in the living room, unplugged the ethernet cable from my laptop, plugged the wireless antenna in the kitchen, and everything was working fine with the wireless network. After about one month I was not able anymore to enter my network with the security key, there was actually no prompt for the security key, just a message “Cannot connect to the network”. I then had to reconfigure the router, going to the router IP address (I used the default settings, a blank for username, and “admin” as a password, as per instructions), use another network name, security key and password, and was able to start again a wireless network with the wireless antenna as before. This problem represented other 3 times (in the last 3 months), and was working fine, but now I cannot reconfigure the router anymore, since the IP address doesn’t accept BLANK/ADMIN anymore, and if I go ahead and reconfigure the router a message says I have to use the default settings in the IP address…

I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.

Sometimes all wireless devices lose the connection to the internet, and the access to the router administration page (192.168.1.1) becomes impossible. In this case LEDs of power, internet and wireless are lighting without flashing. This problem usually occurs every 48 hour, and there was no way to make a reconnection except turning the router off by unplugging the power wire and plug it again…
I hope find a solution for this problem here

- I am losing internet connections at least 1 time/ day. I have 2 wired and 2 wireless devices.
- when the internet is down I am connected to the router (wireless and wired, the connection is not lost/cable unplugged..).

I recently upgraded my Linksys wrt120n router firmware & had to reconfigure settings. Subsequently, some (but not all) of my apple devices are having intermittent wireless connection problems. Specifically, my ipad1 & ipad2 never lose their connection but a mac book pro (~ 2 years old), iPhone 3g, iPhone 4, older iPod touch & very old i book g4 all work for a period of time (usually 1/2 day) & then lose their connection. When I attempt to reconnect these devices I receive the following error..."unable to join the network xxxxxx....". I also have a Dell laptop (1 1/2 yrs old) that generally does not have the connection problem. Finally, when the devices do lose their network connection all I have to do to reconnect is go to the Linkys router setup webpage & click on save & the wireless connection works again (almost like this is just refreshing the connection for these specific apple devices). I was not having any problem prior to the firmware upgrade & from what I have read the older firmware version is no longer available so going back to the old firmware does not appear to be an option.
