Using A PPPoE Connection On A Linksys WRT54G Router?

May 3, 2011

I am using a PPPoE connection on a linksys WRT54G router and trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range.I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, but that seems to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connectionMy router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest. What am I doing wrong?

Linksys WRT54G Router / Configure A Repeater For A PPPoE Connection?

May 3, 2011

I am using a PPPoE connection using a linksys WRT54G router (working perfectly) and am now trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range. I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection? My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 When Connect PC Directly To Modem / Configure PPPoE Connection

Mar 8, 2013

I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS Factory Defaults / Resetting Connection Type From PPPoE To Bridge

Jan 17, 2012

I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Two WRT54G And One DSL Connection?

Feb 19, 2013

Situation:  I have one Internet connection and I have need of two networks.  One filtered with OpenDNS and the other unfiltered.  I have a Speedstream DSL router provided by ISP for connecting to Internet.  I have two WRT54G's and would like to utilize them to form two networks.  The Speedstream is a router with a gateway address of 192.168.1.254.

From that Speedstream (only one network plug) I would like to go to a 5port switch.  From that switch, I would like to configure the two WRT's to be two different networks (one using OpenDNS settings for filtering) with one having a 192.168.1.x address scheme and the other (no Internet filtering) having a 192.168.10.x scheme.  Both would have DHCP enabled for their networks and the Speedstream would have DHCP disabled.  There is not a need (at this point) to have the networks communicate.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G V5 - Way To Get Connection

Jan 20, 2012

Ive had a WRT54G v5 for awhile now.  And just recently I went out of town and had turn off my router.  When coming back and turning everything back on for some reason both wired and wireless components both have a connection then it loses the connection for awhile and comes back on.  Ive power cycled both the router and modem. Called my provider and they said it was my router after doing some diagnostic tests.  I tried to update the firmware and ive tried to restore to factory settings. Still it has a connection then it loses it.. Ive noticed on the modem when its not working that only the SENT light is flashing. (modem has power, received, sent, cable,pc). It is on AUTO DHCP and gets a ip and everything.

Linksys WRT54G V.3 Router Won't Pick-up Connection From Modem

Mar 1, 2012

I can connect to the internet just fine if I run my modem straight to my computer. If I try to run it through my router, however, I can't get a connection. The internet light on the router does not light up and shows no signs of connection. The DHCP renewal doesn't do anything, either. I have power cycled many, many times and reset the router to factory settings as well. I have tried cloning the mac address to match the computer and done all that I can (as far as my knowledge reaches). The tech support 'warranty' is also outdated, so there are no other options except for paying a ridiculous amount of money to talk to somebody.I just got a new modem yesterday and that is when it stopped working through the router. This problem occurs with two different routers (both of which worked previously) so I don't think anything is faulty. The modem is an ARRIS TM602G and the router is a Linksys WRT54G v.3

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Does Not Show Up In Connection

Sep 20, 2011

Linksys WRT54G in reset mode, that is no security, SSID broadcast  as linksys as it would be after pressing the reset button. When I go into the network and sharing center on my laptop running Vista and try to connect to the network it doesn't show up in the connect to a network dialog box.  Rescanning doesn't work.  My friends MAC locates the router with no problem. Disabling and enabling the wireless adapter and rebooting the laptop doesn't work.  I'm working right next to the router. If I go to Manage Wireless Networks and add add a new network manually  and input the network name (linksys) and Security Type disabled then I can connect to the router and all is well. I've set up a few routers and never seen this problem.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G - PCs Lost Connection

Aug 19, 2011

I been using my WRT54G with no problems for 2 years now. I lost wireless. I have 1 pc wired to the router and it works fine, e-mail, accessing the internet, everything. But I have 6 wireless devices ( 2 PCs, a printer, Nintindo 3Ds, a laptop and a nook) that use the wireless part of the router at different times. Anyways, last night, one of the wireless PCs lost connection, not seeing the router. Then I checked with each of the other wireless devices. None of them see the router. I tried many different things: powering down the router for two hours, hitting the reset button for 30 seconds, I even uninstalled the router and re-installed it and ran the setup-wizard. Again the pc I have wired to the router works but none of the wireless devices can see the router.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG160N-E1 Configured PPPoE Connection

Sep 16, 2011

I have just upgraded my old WAG54GS to WAG160N-E1 (Annex B). I've configured the PPPoE connection and everything was up and running... for about an hour. Then the router started dropping internet connection on pretty much regular basis (every 40-50min?) - it then takes 1-2 min until it reconnects again... Obviously that makes any online gaming a nightmare.

I'm now running again on the WAG54GS and everything is ok (except it doesn't support >6Mbps speed which is the reason I upgraded the router in the first place) so it's not an issue with the ADSL line.
