I'm trying to configure an 887VA for a pppoe ADSL2+ connection with no luck.I know the ISP requires pppoe (LLC), and the pvc is 8/35.
The CD light is on, and the line is up, but the 887 just won't connect
I am new to the Cisco routers but am trying to get a Cisco 887va working on a Eircom ADSL2 connection.
I was using the config of an old Cisco router as a guide, basically this has encapsulation aal5snap under the ATM interface, I am unable to set this in the 887va, I did read that this needs to be set under the VDSL controller however it will not take the commands. Also how can I set the the dsl operating-mode to auto.

We are trying to take ADSL interface into another VRF i.e (ip vrf forwarding VRF2 under dialer interface), the ip address negotiated command disappears, and although the dialer interface becomes up-up state, the adsl interface does not get an IP address dynamically.
Tried:
1) to reenter ip address negotiated again after changing the vrf of the interface, still the dialer interface shows "no ip address" under configuration
2) ppp ipcp accept-address again does not work.

I've struggled now for a couple of days to setup a PPPoe connection on our cisco 887va box. I can setup straight away on a draytek box so i know the connection is good.I can't get the line protocol to come up? It's connected via ethernet port 0 to an external modem. One thing i can't figure out is if ethernet 0 and fast ethernet 0 is the same physical port?I've attached the running-config below.

I've got problem trying to connect the CISCO-887VDSL/ADSL OVER POTS ROUTER to internet. Only got the LAN part working.I'm trying to setup PPPoE with dynamic IP Followed CISCO's documentations but the commands used were not recognized by the router.

I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection?My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

I´m trying to configure SR520 Cisco router as PPPoE server. The point is, when configuration is done and PPPoE client is directly connected to the interface, SR520 doesn´t respond to incoming PADI. PADI is not shown in PPPoE debugs (debug pppoe events, packets and errors).On the other hand, I get the PADI capturing packets with wireshark (so PADI is being sent) and the same configuration on other router works fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe aDSL circuit is up and connected and I can reach the internet, however not all sites on the internet are reachable. This is occurring on two seperate 887VA’s and the circuit has been tested with a netgear router and no issues occur. The router has been tried on 5 different ADSL connections and the same problem occurs although more websites can be reached on a home broadband connection (ADSL2+ Annex A) as opposed to the problem being more severe on an ADSL2+ Annex M circuit. The problem seems to affect websites that are full of adverts more than sites that have single domain landing pages.
The sites that I cannot reach are pingable. This happens on multiple machines behind the router. The same config is used on an cisco 877-M router with no issues.

config to setup PPPoE on the cisco 831 router to be used with a modem in bridge mode. I have tired other peoples configs found on the web but, not all the commands were available on the IOS version thats on the router. Also note that I bought this as a used router and I dont have a service contract so I am unable to download an updated IOS. The router ver is 12.3(7)T9 and the IOS is c831-k9o3sy6-mz.123-7.T9.bin. I have Binatone DT 815 ADSL2 router (not wireless) with Airtel broadband connction. Recently it has started causing problem. About once in a fortnight, like � Additional log on information may be required� or �Your router is not registerd with us� or things like that. So every now and then the technician has to be called for configuring the router. After that it works for some days. Then again the problem and reconfiguring, which is quite problematic.

I have an issue with Cisco RV042 i have two Internet access connection from my ISP one with 30Mbps and the other with 8Mbps.
i have 30Mbps in WAN1 and 8Mbps on WA2
my issue that i was connecting both of the WAN connections using DHCP mode and it was working fine and the ISP modem was terminating the PPPOE
now i decided to use PPPOE on the Cisco RV042 and change the ISP modem to bridge mode.
WAN1 is working were as WAN2 is not working.
i tried to factory reset, shift links, in all cases WAN2 if its on PPPOE does not go up.
i am using latest firmware from cisco.com.
I have cisco router ASR 1006 .... i need to create PPPOE connection via Ethernet ... and can do that on the management port ???? and what is the type of adapter that use in the Giga Ethernt interface to connect it to fiber ???? hint :- my interface hardware SPA-10X1GE-V2

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my old WAG54GS to WAG160N-E1 (Annex B). I've configured the PPPoE connection and everything was up and running... for about an hour. Then the router started dropping internet connection on pretty much regular basis (every 40-50min?) - it then takes 1-2 min until it reconnects again... Obviously that makes any online gaming a nightmare.
I'm now running again on the WAG54GS and everything is ok (except it doesn't support >6Mbps speed which is the reason I upgraded the router in the first place) so it's not an issue with the ADSL line.
We have an RV082 (firmware 2.0.2.01-tm),with an ADSL connection over PPPoE. It connects fine, and I can ping anything, and I can also access websites with HTTPS, but when trying to access any website with HTTP, it doesn't work.There's no load balancing going on, and it's the same whether we have the Firewall turned on or off, and everything else is pretty much as default.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Router that is ADSL2 & VPN capable. It currently allows me to work from home and connect to work servers securely. I have used traceroute [URL] in CMD to determine that all web requests/traffic goes through the VPN server rather than just the requests to access files on the VPN server.I don't feel comfortable having all my traffic now go through work servers(the VPN) so I would like to avoid this. I know I have 2 solutions:- Use Split Tunelling on the router where only requests to files on the VPN server will go through the VPN server, all other traffic is not through the VPN. I have heard that this can compromise the whole network as one node is currently 'unsecured' and can affect/compromise the whole network. Is this true?
- Add a second Router that doesn't connect through the VPN. When I finish work I disconnect from the VPN Routers wireless connection and connect through the second routers wireless connection. I would like to take solution 2 because I wont be compromising the whole network but I have some questions:- Is this something you would recommend?
- Is it dangerous? Is it just as compromising as solution 1?
- In Australia we use physical Phone Splitters for our internet physical connection. One side of the splitter connects to a phone line port on the wall. The other side has 2 ports, one for the phone line connection and one for the router/adsl connection. If I have 2 routers I'll need a splitter that has more than 2 ports so I can connect the 2nd router to the internet. Are there Phone Splitters with more than 2 ports and do ISP's allow me to do this?
