We have WLC-4402 and LWAP-1510, we have issue when users trying to connect to pppoe server with pppoe connection from wireless network. On LAN, pppoe connection work properly and everything is normal. Also I enable broadcast fowarding on GUI but he problem still exist.
View 1 RepliesI have a ZyXel P-660R-D1 DSL modem, and lately I've been experiencing random outages. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of networking, but I know enough to look around the modems GUI and recognize when something isn't right. I'm pretty sure this is not a problem on my end, but I'd like to hear a few other peoples opinions. Basically I have four lights on the modem: Power, Ethernet, DSL, and Internet. DSL is the light that indicates connection to the PPPoE server, and lately it will just randomly drop. I've never experienced problems connecting with the PPPoE server until just recently. Every once in a while my Internet light will drop, and a simple reset will take care of it, but rarely am I ever not connected to the PPPoE server. One day it was down for three or so hours, one day for nine, another day it cut in and out for about four hours, and today was another nine hour day. how it works is that my username and password are verified through the ISPs PPPoE server, and then I am granted access to the web. I'm lead to believe that it's nothing on my end because all troubleshooting methods fail, it just randomly fixes itself several hours later. The first nine hour stretch I experienced I thought may have been because of maintenance or some other unforeseen circumstance, but it has happened a few times now so I'm not too sure. My provider, Earthlink, hasn't listed any 'Known Outages' on their site, but then again they never do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought a WRT54GL router, and I`m having some problems with it. The original firmware the router came with had a bug, and couldn`t even connect to a PPPOE network. I downloaded the latest firmware version for this model (4.30.14 build 5, Oct. 26, 2009). Now it can connect to PPPOE but the broadband speed is limited to ~ 30Mbits/s. My ISP normally provides a download speed up to 80-90MBits/s, and if I bypass the router, and connect the internet cable directly to my PC, it works.
The QoS is disabled, so this can`t be the problem, but I searched the internet, and I found that it can be because the router`s CPU is too slow and can`t handle connections up to 80-90Mbit/s download speed, but this sounds a little bit weird to me.Did any of you gus run into this problem? Is it a hardware problem, or a software one? Maybe there`s something I need to set up in the admin interface?
I have successfully implemented wireless guest access using 4402 WLC as the Anchor and 5508 as Foreign. The Anchor controller also provides dhcp services to guest clients. The 5508 is LAGged and there is no issue with the guests traffic separated from corporate. At a remote site, there is a 4402 WLC using LAG and also acting as a Foreign controller. But when a client connects to the guest WLAN, it obtains a corporate dhcp address instead of the dhcp address assigned from the Anchor controller. The guest WLAN setting is the same as with the 5508 controller i.e. DHCP server override is ticked and the management IP address of the Anchor controller is specfied. Also DHCP Addr required is ticked. Why the 4400 controller is not forwarding dhcp requests to the anchor controller and instead sending to the corporate dhcp server.
View 36 Replies View RelatedI installed a Linksys WRT54G2 router earlier this year and set my Siemens modem from AT&T(Actually from SBC before the two merged) in bridge mode. I did this so I could change the NAT setting on our internet, which was interfering with my Xbox. It worked for about 4 or 5 months with little to no problems. Recently, however, the internet has been disconnecting and when I check the status page on the router it says it is disconnected. Sometimes clicking on the connect button will work, but usually it will say "Connecting" and keep refreshing the page for a little while without any change, then give me a message saying it couldn't get the IP from the PPPoe server. Turning it and the Siemens modem on and off and fiddling around seems to solve the problem, but only temporarily. Interestingly enough, I don't think it ever interferes with my Xbox. Until recently, the Xbox was set as the highest priority on the QoS page, but I changed the computer to the highest priority and it hasn't worked. In addition, the small, thin green light bar just below the Linksys logo on the top of the router has just recently started changing to orange occasionally
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT310N V1.I am trying to connect this via PPPoE to another Thompson router/modem that has been succesfully switched into BRIDGE mode.The Linksys router is conneted via ethernet cable to an ehternet port on the Thompson router.The ADSL cable is pluggedinto the WAN port of the Thomson 'bridge'.There is no cable in the WAN port of the Linksys router.
The Linksys router is set up to connect over PPPoE using the username and password that was given to me by my ISPs tech support (checked and double checked).The DHCP server on the Bridged Thomson is set to ON. DNS is set to OFF.the DHCP server on the Linksys router is set to ON.

Looked up the IPConfig of my PC with wire connected directly(no router), was 192.168.0.xxx. So I hit 192.168.0.1 in my browser address bar, and it came up with the login page for a D-Link DIR600. A wireless router with wireless disabled. Apparently this is being used as a switch by my ISP. This I know cause I checked the active connections and DHCP reservations on the D link and it showed up about 100 different PC's (including MAC and IP addresses).

Physical portt #1 is connected to the Main Switch (trunk). I have 3 WLAN mapped to 3 Different VLAN and Everything (security and internal, external DHCP) is working swell...Now- I have connected Physical port #2 directly to an ADSL Router (giga port), Configured Port 2 as untaggedwith the proper IP details.I have configured this interface to receive DHCP from the ADSL Router and for some reason, Clients are not getting addresses.When I assign a Static address to my laptop I get internet access and all is nice. I tried configuring The WLC internal DHCP server (instead of the ADSL router) and that didn't work. It seems like a DHCP problem but I dont understand the source of the problem of think of the solution.When turning off the proxy settings I noticed that it worked. Is there anything to do with that? The problem was that after a while the other WLANs starting causing DHCP issues as well.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup a guest vlan. I set up an interface for the guest vlan on my 4402 controller. I assigned the guest vlan interface an IP of 192.168.2.10 with a 24 bit subnet mask.
This vlan will go to my DMZ where there is no DHCP server so I need to setup the internal DHCP server. I created a new scope but I'm having trouble with what to put in the Network field for the DHCP scope. The pool addresses are 192.168.2.100-200. with a 24 bit subnet mask.
Every time I try to apply the configuration I get an "error in setting DHCP scope network and netmask".
I've tried using:
192.168.2.10
192.168.2.255
192.168.2.254
as entries for the Network setting but no go. The docs say to enter the IP address used by the management interface with subnet mask applied.
I was assuming they meant the interface for the guest vlan.
I have been working on this for hours and getting frustrated! This router has been set up for over a year with no trouble, but recently had trouble connecting with my wireless devices and was kicking my wired (ethernet) laptop off when it is usually on all the time.
Now, my wired connection works through the router, the wireless devices all connect to the network but do not have access to theinternet. From the router's setup page, when I enter my PPPoE information and go to status and connect, it tries to connect a few times then gives me the error message 'cannot get IP address from PPPoE server"
I have tried updating firmware, resetting, restarting, recycling power, chat support with ISP and chat support with Linksys. Have verified my username and key and those are correct otherwise I'd have no internet access at all. I do have wired access but not wireless. The wired connection does go through the router.
Bridging - my modem is a bridging modem only, so it shouldn't be that.
I look forward to the new firmware can improve this problem.

We are currently having trouble with people connecting to our wireless with the Kindle Touch version 4. Users of the Kindle Fire and older models have no problems with connecting, just this one specific model. We are using Cisco Aironet 1230 Access Points connecting back via LWAPP to a WLC 4402 running code version 7.0.220.0. The clients are receiving their DHCP options from a Windows 2003 server. Besides the standard options we are also pushing the WPAD 252 option.

I have inherited a 6509 VSS switch system as the network core and have the task of ensuring proper redundancy and redesign of the directly connected data center devices. One of the connected devices (WLC 4402) physically appears to be connected to both switches - the WLC is in the same rack as VSS-Chassis1 so I can trace the fiber from WLC port 1 to gi1/1/22, the other fiber from the WLC port 2 goes into the floor and presumably over to VSS-Chassis2 gi2/1/22 (there is fiber connected there, I have link lights on both sides, and the port channel, Po200, on the VSS switch which is configured on gi1/1/22 is also configured on gi2/1/22). My question pertains to the CDP neighbor output I get on the VSS switch: (truncated to include just the WLC) [code]
So my question, arising at least partly from the apparently misleading CDP information, is this: How can I confirm that the WLC is correctly dual homed to both core switches? (short of tracing the cable) I ask because there are several other devices (not WLCs) that need to have the dual homed connections confirmed.I tried a layer 2 trace route but for all macs associated with the WLC, the trace abborts with the error "Device has Multiple CDP neighbours on destination port."
I need to install one 5508 and a 4402 together to bring redundancy to a wireless environment.Can I do this?. What are the neccesary steps to perform this?, the idea behind this is to bring redundancy is the primary WLC falls for any reason.

I'm having issues with PPPoE connection. On a daily level, my connection breaks 1-5 times. In the past, it was related to signal problems, but ISP Tech. team fixed this some 10 days ago. Now, whenever I call them they say connection was broken on user request and ask me if I'm running services like torrents.
I don't run torrents and all I have is standard windows update services, nod 32, as well as steam client.

The point is, when configuration is done and PPPoE client is directly connected to the interface, SR520 doesn´t respond to incoming PADI. PADI is not shown in PPPoE debugs (debug pppoe events, packets and errors).On the other hand, I get the PADI capturing packets with wireshark (so PADI is being sent) and the same configuration on other router works fine.

Can we connect one port on CORP core switch and one port in DMZ zone to bifurcate the guest traffic from WLC itself ?
I have a 4402 which is connected to a 4506 Switch int Gig 3/1 via a trunk port. The Managment and AP-manger interfaces are on vlan 6 [code] I have a 1142N AP also connected to the switch and it pulls a DHCP IP Address and configs etc and registers to the WLC. It too is on Vlan 6 and it is connected to the 4506 on int gig 4/33 which is an access port. [code] I am doing local authentication, so i have added users to the WLC.. My problem is that the first client that connected was able to get an IP address and connect to anything internal and external.I then connected another client on another laptop and that client could connect but not get an IP address, it just self assigned.When i look at the clients i can see the MAC address of both Clients on the WLC, but doing a show mac address-table dynamic i only see the MAC of the client that works properly. The client that doesnt get an IP has no entry in the 4506 switch.I am stumped, from what I understand, is that the 2nd clients traffic is being trunked to the WLC , hence it has the MAC address. But I dont know why its not getting a DHCP assigned IP address.

I've been using my EA4500 since it's original launch date as a PPPoE router through another router/modem which is the Netgear DG834G V4 set to Modem Only mode which was working fine for a long time!A month ago, a friend wanted to borrow the Netgear Router and after he gave it back I reset it like I always do and entered my settings in router mode(i.e. username and password) to check if I havewe working Internet connection and that the router is working properly and it was working properly like it was before I lent it. Now comes the problem, if I keep using the Netgear router as the PPPoE handler and make the EA4500 work as "Automatic Configuration DHCP" it works flawlessly but if I set the Netgear router to modem mode and make the EA4500 handle the PPPoE connection, the report in the troubleshooting tab keeps on saying "Connecting" endlessly!
Note: I've replicatedthe settings that I used on both router before and after lending it to my friend so there's no difference in settings!
Customer has a WLC 4402 and 21 AP's LAP1131AG, there is a PDA wlan created to give PDA's and wireless Phones access to the webmail. This is done by access lists and firewalls. Now the customer wants more access to the internet in this PDA wlan, maybe in a later phase to the other vlans, can we use an ISE server and make profiles, is this the only additional server that we need or is an upgrade of the WLC and ÄP's also needed.

When i connect the wan interface to the isp line, and provide the pppoe login details ,it won't work. When i try to connect manually to the pppoe server from the wan configuration page, after about 30 sec i get the connection failed message.Is the firmware corrupt, should i go the ddwrt route?

The issue we see is that a user/laptop gets connected and gets the ip address but there will be no network access. We see a yellow exclamation sign at this time in network icon in tray and we can not ping gateway at this point. We have run debugs at this time for the machine and we could see that was in "RUN" state its only that the machine can not access network.
View 11 Replies View Relatedwe have a two port 4402 WLC here with only one port currently in use. The topology is bacically the used port uplinks to a dmz switch. Our Intranet and the Internet are accessed via an ASA from the WLC. The WLC also sits in the DMZ. This WLC is only used for guest wireless access. The AP information and traffic is exchagned from a primary WLC on our Intranet and authentication is done via RADIUS. Internet access is handled through the ASA as well on the DMZ. We have a completely independent ISP broadband connection here that was put in long before I was ever here and is used for guest wired web access. All ports are clearly labelled and have bright pink patch cords. What I would like to do is have our wireless guests be on that network rather than our dmz for their web access. I have pulled an ethernet cable from the switch that connects to that broadband connection to the cabinet with the 4402. So the physical is fine right now. I'm not all that familiar with the WLC's, so I'm not sure if everything else can remain the same as it is right now, but just connect the second port to the broadband connection and route guest Internet traffic through there rather than the DMZ.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my laptop i can input my user name and password and connect directly without a problem. But as soon as i plug the cable into the router, the activity lights turn off like its not plugged in on the other end...which it is. So when going through the setup process, both using the cd and inputting the information on the web based setup. It does nothing, the automatic setup says the cable isnt plugged in. When using the browser setup i can click connect as many times as i want and it does nothing but say disconnected.
