We are a public library and offer an open wireless cloud to our patrons. We are currently having trouble with people connecting to our wireless with the Kindle Touch version 4. Users of the Kindle Fire and older models have no problems with connecting, just this one specific model. We are using Cisco Aironet 1230 Access Points connecting back via LWAPP to a WLC 4402 running code version 7.0.220.0. The clients are receiving their DHCP options from a Windows 2003 server. Besides the standard options we are also pushing the WPAD 252 option.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have inherited a 6509 VSS switch system as the network core and have the task of ensuring proper redundancy and redesign of the directly connected data center devices. One of the connected devices (WLC 4402) physically appears to be connected to both switches - the WLC is in the same rack as VSS-Chassis1 so I can trace the fiber from WLC port 1 to gi1/1/22, the other fiber from the WLC port 2 goes into the floor and presumably over to VSS-Chassis2 gi2/1/22 (there is fiber connected there, I have link lights on both sides, and the port channel, Po200, on the VSS switch which is configured on gi1/1/22 is also configured on gi2/1/22). My question pertains to the CDP neighbor output I get on the VSS switch: (truncated to include just the WLC) [code]
So my question, arising at least partly from the apparently misleading CDP information, is this: How can I confirm that the WLC is correctly dual homed to both core switches? (short of tracing the cable) I ask because there are several other devices (not WLCs) that need to have the dual homed connections confirmed.I tried a layer 2 trace route but for all macs associated with the WLC, the trace abborts with the error "Device has Multiple CDP neighbours on destination port."
We have WLC-4402 and LWAP-1510, we have issue when users trying to connect to pppoe server with pppoe connection from wireless network. On LAN, pppoe connection work properly and everything is normal. Also I enable broadcast fowarding on GUI but he problem still exist.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed CSC-SSM-10 on cisco ASA 5520.I am facing two problems
1 : When I send traffic from ASA to SSM module then internet connection becomes slow and sometimes internet session disconnected.
2. When I try to manual update then following erros shows please see attachment .
I have an intermittent issue happening on my company's firewall, and I'm at a loss as to how to troubleshoot further.
We recently made some changes to our network, which included moving an ASA 5505 from one location to another. In moving this we also connected it to a different switch. It used to hang off a Cisco 3560, and now it hangs off a ProCurve 5406zl.
The setup is that the ASA is connected on two ports to the HP, which is simply a layer 2 device sitting between the firewall and the uplink to our ISP. One port, e0/0, is the outside interface and is set to switchport access vlan 2. The second interface, e0/1, is set for vlan 1, also access mode. It has an IP of 10.0.0.2. The HP on the other end of that has an IP of 10.0.0.1. So outside VPN connections come through the HP to the ASA on e0/0, and back out the ASA on port e0/1 to reach devices on the internal network.
What happens is that when a user connects to the VPN, they can reach internal resources intermittently. For example, I tried to ping an internal server IP address (let's say 10.0.0.23) from my laptop, while on the VPN, and pings failed. However I could ping that IP from the ASA itself. Another example is that during one VPN connection I was unable to connect to an internal web server, but once I disconnected and connected ahain I could reach the server fine.
The intermittent nature of the problem made me think that it could be an ARP issue, that somehow the traffic is getting sent back out the wrong interface sometimes, hence the lack of communication. However when I did show switch mac-address | include mac address, using the base mac of the HP, I only saw the mac address of the HP on one interface, e0/1. That makes me think that things are working as they should. Although I guess maybe it should appear on both interfaces...? I don't know. How I can most effectively troubleshoot this? It seems like the symptoms are indicative of some kind of rookie mistake, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is.

View 4 Replies View Related i am not sure if this is something with my DHCP setup or not, but it certainly seems to be the culprit. I am running a 3560G and using it as DHCP and to do V LAN routing (Geiger protocol). I have 10 pools configured with a few static addresses per pool. Now to get down to the problem. I have a computer (and this problem seems to be a gremlin as it changes what computer is affected quite often) that will connect, get its IP, immediately disconnect, then send out a DHCP req again. The computer has a static assignment in the pool, and for the brief second that it connects, it gets the right address. If i move the computer to another v lan, all works right. If i delete the static entry it will get an address in the right v lan no problem. The command i have been using to add static entries is:
address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx client-id 01xx.xxxx.xxxx.xx
That seems to have been working on all my static routes except for a bank of computers in vlan3. I have went as far as to delete the pool and recreate it, heck i even recreated the v lan and i am still having issues. Below are some snippets of the running config for review.
The DHCP Pool for the affected LAN:
ip dhcp pool Dev3

I have been reading for awhile now on all the Cisco forums on the 3560 and shaping egress traffic but I wanted to verify my thoughts on this. I have 3560 that connects to the ISP that is policing at 10Megs, I want to shape my egress traffic going to the ISP, I do not want to provided QOS to any specific traffic type but only shape all traffic outbound. Will my config below shape "all" egress traffic going to the ISP on the 3560, on a port that is physically connect at 100Meg Full duplex?
int gi0/1
srr-queue bandwidth shape 40 40 40 40
I gathered these numbers using the formula of 100* 1/weight, which would equal 2.5 and if each queue has 2.5 meg that would = 10Meg. However another concern is that I don't think I have the full 100Meg on the interface to use (correct?)
I have 2 4402 WLC's and am in the process of deploying 1042 APs out to sites. But The AP's wont recognize the WLC. I have configured the DNS for CAPWAP but still no dice. I have had to serial into each unit and give it a static IP and then I can see it on the WLC. Shoulsnt this be automatic?

I have an issue with AP Fallback not working with two Cisco 4402-50 WLC's. Here is the senerio:
Site 1 has a 4402 (WLC01) running software 7.0.220.0 with 48 associated access points. AP Fallback is enabled in Controller > General and all 48 AP's are set to Critical failover with WLC01 being the primary controller and WLC02 (at site 2) being the secondary.
Site 2 is the location of WLC02 which is also running software 7.0.220.0 but has 0 ap's associated and also had AP Fallback set to enabled.
Your typical active/passive setup
The problem is when WLC01 goes down all of the AP's fail over to WLC02, however when the connection is restored to WLC01 we have to manually reboot each access point in order for them to reassociate back to the primary controller. Isn't AP Fallback enabled suppose to allow the AP's to move back to the primary controller once connection is reestablished?
I ##have a customer with WLC 4402 in use, running software version 7.0.98.0, and supporting 11 APs at present. The customer wants to enlarge the WLAN, which involves increasing the number of APs. I #####have purchased a new WLC5508, and have installed it onto the network alongside the 4402. the 5508 is running software version 7.0.116.0. Because the wireless network is critical to the user, we want to move the APs over to the new controller while the network is up and running, then remove the 4402.
However, when we set the 5508 as the master controller, or tell one of the APs to use the 5508 as its primary controller, the AP connects to the new controller, downloads the new software version, attempts to load it but reports an error with the unzipped file size of the software and fails to boot. formatting the flash on the AP, then disconnecting the 5508 from the network and rebooting the AP allows it to connect to the 4402, it downloads the older software and boots as normal. A new AP, if connected to the 5508 in a test scenario (ie no 4402) connects, downloads and boots perfectly.
I #have the upgrade software to allow the 4402 to be upgraded to 7.0.116.0, but I am concerned that, if this is installed, the existing APs will then fail to boot from the 4402 or the 5508.all APs are 3502s, running IOS version 12.04(23c)JA when connected to the 4402 and 12.04(23c)JA2 on the 5508.
We have two WLC 4402 WLC in active-active mode in our setup. The issue we see is that a user/laptop gets connected and gets the ip address but there will be no network access. We see a yellow exclamation sign at this time in network icon in tray and we can not ping gateway at this point. We have run debugs at this time for the machine and we could see that was in "RUN" state its only that the machine can not access network.
