But first i would like to make -absolutely- sure i dont wind up in a situation where i have to roll back over a console connection.to the day i still cant understand why oh why someone removed (or chose not to implement it everywhere) tftpdnld from rommon ;)

When I power the device up all the front panel lights come on like normail, and then the system light starts flashing like normal, but after 5 - 6 seconds the system light goes off. I don't get any output from the console, and the fans still run.

No status lights turn on at any point (e.g. syst, xps...). 10g network module is installed with a 10g LRM SFP. All lights on the module are amber. However, it passes according to POST. Switch passes traffic, obeys config, etc. Link lights on RJ45 ports work fine. This was brand new out of the box. Thinking about trying IOS reload..

But when i add another sequence to the "pbr1" with another sequence number like that.

pbr is not working. Switch gives message "PLATFORM_PBR-3-UNSUPPORTTED_RMP:Route-map pbr1 not supported for Policy Based Routing”"ip policy route-map pbr1" command not shown in the running config. And "show ip policy" output is blank.Configuration guide says you have insert many sequence to the route-map with the same name. And also this command is not in the unsupported command list.

When i remove the login local from the line console i connect to console port and press enter it shows router prompt 2691Router> but i am unable to go to enable mode.If i telnet to router then i put username and pw then it goes straight to enable mode.

So I have read about proper procedure involving the connection between a console cable and Hyper-terminal. I have also tried plugging into a network port to obtain an IP Address but nothing seems to work. When powering on the switch I see that it lights up, hear fans spin and assume it has booted properly. I'm using Hyperterminal on Windows Xp Pro SP3 and I've also tried minicom in Fedora.
And just FYI Hyperterminal was set to the proper:

Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None

Two VLAN’s, one for data another for multicast. Data from internet works fine but now I want to connect multicast servers (or source of more multicast streams) from another subnet. View 4 Replies View Related i am not sure if this is something with my DHCP setup or not, but it certainly seems to be the culprit. I am running a 3560G and using it as DHCP and to do V LAN routing (Geiger protocol). I have 10 pools configured with a few static addresses per pool. Now to get down to the problem. I have a computer (and this problem seems to be a gremlin as it changes what computer is affected quite often) that will connect, get its IP, immediately disconnect, then send out a DHCP req again. The computer has a static assignment in the pool, and for the brief second that it connects, it gets the right address. If i move the computer to another v lan, all works right. If i delete the static entry it will get an address in the right v lan no problem. The command i have been using to add static entries is:
address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx client-id 01xx.xxxx.xxxx.xx
That seems to have been working on all my static routes except for a bank of computers in vlan3. I have went as far as to delete the pool and recreate it, heck i even recreated the v lan and i am still having issues. Below are some snippets of the running config for review.

I have been reading for awhile now on all the Cisco forums on the 3560 and shaping egress traffic but I wanted to verify my thoughts on this. I have 3560 that connects to the ISP that is policing at 10Megs, I want to shape my egress traffic going to the ISP, I do not want to provided QOS to any specific traffic type but only shape all traffic outbound. Will my config below shape "all" egress traffic going to the ISP on the 3560, on a port that is physically connect at 100Meg Full duplex?

I gathered these numbers using the formula of 100* 1/weight, which would equal 2.5 and if each queue has 2.5 meg that would = 10Meg. However another concern is that I don't think I have the full 100Meg on the interface to use (correct?)
I have a 6513 with redundant sup 720-3B's that I cannot get onto. In short, one of the power supplies failed, it still passes traffic but I can't console or ssh to the box. Other than the two sup 720's, I have a 4 port 10gig card, a 16 port GBIC Card and an IDS module. I have tried removing the 10Gig, IDS and one of the sup's but still don't get anything on the console. I have rebooted the entire chassis and don't get anything on my console while booting. I have tried changing the speed of my terminal to every setting available incase someone has changed it at some stage but to no avail. I have tried swapping sup's, using only one at a time in the chassis but not getting anything. Is there anything else I can try to get onto this chassis? The power supply is a 3000w with a 32amp input. The failed power supply had tripped a switch, when i brought it back up, the power supply came out but the output failed LED is on. My #questions are, is there anything else I can do to try get onto the console, and is the power supply goosed when the RED LED is lit? I have reseated the power supply also but the same result.

However when I open my terminal application (tera term) After I select the right com port (3) and make sure the connection settings are right. It will just sit idle and not show any data from the device. Was I sold a faulty device? It lights up and has three lights on.
Everytime I look at a manual or cisco video I am given the impression the terminal application will just automatically connect. But whenever I try I get nothing.

Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".
I have 2 3750-x members in a stack running 12.2(58)SE2. I am able to console into the stack master, which happens to be the top switch, but not able to console into the 2nd member. I get the screen stating the console is available but never get the prompt to login. Is this expected behavior?On our stacks of 3750v2's, I'm able to console to any switch in the stack?

today I received a Cisco 1841 Router with a problem i have never seen before. Maybe this my 1st really,really broken Cisco Router. When I power the Router on, the fan and all lights turn on (green) and that's it. Nothing changes, also after minutes of wating. View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a used Catalyst 2900 XL switch and have not been succesful in connecting to the console via minicom 2.5 running on Ubuntu 12.04 or 11.10, I don’t even get junk charecters in the terminal or echo on input. The switch passes POST according to the LEDs on the front and the network ports are fucntional for switching purpouses.
I’m using a Prolific PL2303 USB-Serial adapter, which works with minicom to console into another device. I’ve tried every baud rate available and tried combonations of hardware flow control, software flow control, and niether.I’ve tested the pinout of the console cable and all pins map correctly according to Cisco spec.I’ve also tried Cutecom, putty, and screen. I have not tried HyperTerminal because I do not use windows.Is it possible that the previous owner disabled console access? Do I need to reboot the switch each time I test a different baud rate?
I have a 3750X stack of 6 switches, I have a terminal server console server plugged into the console ports of all 6 switches. I am having a strange issue where I can connect to the master via the console, get a login prompt then I can log in, but when I try and connect to any of the members then I get a prompt "Press RETURN to get started" When I push return, it just loops back to the same prompt again:

I have issue with Cisco Router 2801's Console Port. My student was doing a lab and he said during configuration, Console Port stopped responding. He was in middle of configuration, so now at present, only telnet is able to login on "R2>" user mode, enable password is not set, so getting "R2>en % No password set R2>" I have tried different terminal software but no output from Console Port, changed the Console Cables, replace with working console cables, change speed (baud) settings. Also tried to connect same console with "AUX" port and got same error mentioned above. AUX Port responds but I am not able to change mode (R2#) because of incomplete running-config. it seems "Console Port" is physically damaged.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Catalyst 2924 switch in a home lab. Both of them have developed the same problem at the same time (strange). I have tried all that I can think of. I can telnet to them but cannot access via the console port. On a telnet session I execueted a "write erase, reload" on one of them. As I anticipated this threw me out of the telnet session and I presently have no access to that switch.
The console cable is fine, works for all other devices.
I want to configure my switch via console cable, the switch boots up normally, and there are no configurations present on the switch. However, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client. I used several terminal clients (TeraTerm, PuTTY, HyperTerminal), all latest versions as well as different PCs. I even forced the switch to rommon mode, still, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client.

After the last line, I can not type any command at all. I encountered this on three 2960 switches that we have here in our laboratory.
I use a C2950-24 switch, with IOS 12.1(22)EA12 release.When I try to connect in console mode, I can see the "Press RETURN to get started!" message, but it's not possible to me to have the # prompt.An "authorization failed" message is displayed. And the same message is prompted.
I try to recover password by following the recovery procedure. After the boot command, I never see the message "Continue with the configuration dialog? [yes/no]: ".
