I attached the terminal to the console port to watch the bootup sequense, but nothing appear the same cable used on athor switches and router without any issue.procedure to access the router noting that Giga ports not working also.

I get the "press return to get started" at the end but I can't get any response. I just used the same cable and terminal on a 3750 switch and an ASA. What am I missing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Catalyst 2924 switch in a home lab. Both of them have developed the same problem at the same time (strange). I have tried all that I can think of. I can telnet to them but cannot access via the console port. On a telnet session I execueted a "write erase, reload" on one of them. As I anticipated this threw me out of the telnet session and I presently have no access to that switch.
The console cable is fine, works for all other devices.
I have installed a cisco 2911 router and the cisco usb console drivers on my pc, win 7 64 bit.however when I use putty and open the com port assigned it just goes blank, I am using the usb port on my laptop to connect and using the cisco usb console cable provided

He was in middle of configuration, so now at present, only telnet is able to login on "R2>" user mode, enable password is not set, so getting "R2>en % No password set R2>" I have tried different terminal software but no output from Console Port, changed the Console Cables, replace with working console cables, change speed (baud) settings. Also tried to connect same console with "AUX" port and got same error mentioned above. AUX Port responds but I am not able to change mode (R2#) because of incomplete running-config. it seems "Console Port" is physically damaged.

The session on the second device has a noticable delay when I type.Next I SSH to switch 1, then SSH to switch 2 from that session. Everything works fine.Finally, I console to switch 1, and telnet to switch 2. There is no delay.So it appears the delay only occurs when I open an SSH session while consoled into a device. It didn't matter what switch 1 and switch 2 were - I had 3560Gs, 4900Ms and a 3845 router. There's no special configuration on the console or vty ports - when I do a "show line console" and "show line vty 0" the output is basically the same.

When I enter the username and password, which I just set, it fails. I am able to login under a different login but when I try to enter the enable mode the enable password doesn't work, which I just set as well. I can login with the TACACS+ login from a SSH session. I can not find any information about management port of Cisco ISR 2911, 2921 and so on. There is management port in specification of 2911 and 2921 and I do not know if this port can be as a simple Ethernet port – forward traffic in/out on L3.

The hardwired connections also are functional but I cannot get to the admin console to see what is going on. The router is currently not being used to connect to the outside world. When it was before this situation still existed. I am using firmware version V2.0.1.3
I am trying to track down an application response problem on my network (the traffic goes through a 6509 and FWSM).I noticed in one of my WireShark captures, that the client at times seems to be sending ackowledgements (ACKs) over and over again, and I'm not sure if this indicates a problem/ retransmission.
Basically, a web server is delivering images to the client, but end users are complaining of slowness and freezes.Wire-Shark has not flagged this as a problem (comes up "green")

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of installing a 3750x (IOS 12.2 (53r) SE2 IP Base) Cisco Catalyst switch in a new network of just 2 PC's (2 hosts, OS windows7 64Bits). I have enabled SVI interfaces with the both hosts installed in 2 different network segments. We then start connectivity test. The response time for the PING command between both hosts remain below 1 millisecond, whereas the response time between the hosts and their correspondent SVI interface is variable, and at all time is higher than 1 millisecond, sometimes it reaches 17 milliseconds. (Note that the switch CPU usage is only 8% at the time of testing) We have performed this same connectivity test changing the 3750x switches and in two different locations obtaining the same results.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe got a switch issue here for 4507R-E with two sup6l-e supervisor running sso redudant. and we found that sometimes client can't ping through the local vlan ip add on the switch , can't logon the cli by telnet too. In the direct connected network device such as access switch and ASA , can't ping or telnet the 4507R too. when we made a forceswitch to sso standby supervisor from console , the problem solve and everything get fine . after that, we switch angin back to the origin supervisor , fine too.
before we made the supervisor forceswitch , we had check the system cpu usage is 15 - 20 % from console . also we had creat a new vlan 200, attach the notebook to 4507's vlan 200 port , the notebook can't ping or telnet the vlan 200 ip interface too.
I have a 6513 with redundant sup 720-3B's that I cannot get onto. In short, one of the power supplies failed, it still passes traffic but I can't console or ssh to the box. Other than the two sup 720's, I have a 4 port 10gig card, a 16 port GBIC Card and an IDS module. I have tried removing the 10Gig, IDS and one of the sup's but still don't get anything on the console. I have rebooted the entire chassis and don't get anything on my console while booting. I have tried changing the speed of my terminal to every setting available incase someone has changed it at some stage but to no avail. I have tried swapping sup's, using only one at a time in the chassis but not getting anything. Is there anything else I can try to get onto this chassis? The power supply is a 3000w with a 32amp input. The failed power supply had tripped a switch, when i brought it back up, the power supply came out but the output failed LED is on. My #questions are, is there anything else I can do to try get onto the console, and is the power supply goosed when the RED LED is lit? I have reseated the power supply also but the same result.

However when I open my terminal application (tera term) After I select the right com port (3) and make sure the connection settings are right. It will just sit idle and not show any data from the device. Was I sold a faulty device? It lights up and has three lights on.
Everytime I look at a manual or cisco video I am given the impression the terminal application will just automatically connect. But whenever I try I get nothing.

I have a 3560-24ps, and I'm having issues with it booting. When I power the device up all the front panel lights come on like normail, and then the system light starts flashing like normal, but after 5 - 6 seconds the system light goes off. I don't get any output from the console, and the fans still run.

Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".
I have 2 3750-x members in a stack running 12.2(58)SE2. I am able to console into the stack master, which happens to be the top switch, but not able to console into the 2nd member. I get the screen stating the console is available but never get the prompt to login. Is this expected behavior?On our stacks of 3750v2's, I'm able to console to any switch in the stack?

today I received a Cisco 1841 Router with a problem i have never seen before. Maybe this my 1st really,really broken Cisco Router. When I power the Router on, the fan and all lights turn on (green) and that's it. Nothing changes, also after minutes of wating. On console i don't get any messages and I already tried every BAUD rate possible. Switched the router off/on again and again. And no, it's obviously not a console problem of my computer, because i tried with different routers.
