Cisco WAN :: 2911 Console Port Giving No Response

Apr 6, 2012

I have a brand new 2911 router out of the box. I attached a terminal to the console port and watched the bootup sequence. I get the "press return to get started" at the end but I can't get any response. I just used the same cable and terminal on a 3750 switch and an ASA. What am I missing?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2924 Switch - No Response From Console Port?

Dec 11, 2011

I have 2 Catalyst 2924 switch in a home lab.  Both of them have developed the same problem at the same time (strange).  I have tried all that I can think of.  I can  telnet to them but cannot access via the console port.  On a telnet session I execueted a "write erase, reload" on one of them.  As I anticipated this threw me out of the telnet session and I presently have no access to that switch.
The console cable is fine, works for all other devices.

TP-Link W8961ND - Internet Is Not Giving Response

Apr 7, 2012

Buying a TP-Link W8961ND modem/router. Didn't work at all, except for a vague sense I got that the internet wasn't spending as long 'down' as previously when it did drop. And now today my housemate and I are both connected and suffering these intermittent drops, which become more and more frequent, until finally the internet cuts out and won't return. Now I cannot get the TP-Link router to connect to the internet at all. However, switching back over to the original D-Link router now the internet DOES work, but still only intermittently. As I've been writing this it's dropped out for a couple of moments twice!

Linksys Wireless Router :: Port Forwarding Not Giving IP Choice (WRT54G2)

Nov 14, 2011

I'm currently configuing the WRT54G2 to port forward to an FTP server we have on our network.
The issue I'm having is that the router is offering me the 192.168.40.* range, however the FTP server is in the 192.168.10.* range. The server works on the local network across several computers, however this issue I beleive is what is preventing me from having it accessed from outside the network.
Any options for getting it to offer me the 192.168.10.* IP range?

Cisco Switches :: Configure SRW248G4 Switch Through Console Port?

Jun 2, 2013

I want to configure my SRW248G4 switch thru console port. Unfortunately in this switch there is no RJ45 console port input, I can only see cosole port that is look like RS232 input. I bought two standard cisco console cables that have one end with db9 and one with RJ45.

Now I have and idea to put one end of one cable (db9) to switch, and one end (db9) of second cable in my computer (COM input/output)
I need to connect two RJ45 together - this is not a problem, I know how to do this. Here is the question :I know how pinout in my computer look like but i can't find pinout of console port in my SRW248G4. There is many pictures in Internet, for many Cisco devices but this isn't working. Maybe in LINKSYS pinout look different ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2801 Router Console Port Not Working?

Feb 13, 2013

I  have issue with Cisco Router 2801's Console Port. My student was doing a  lab and he said during configuration, Console Port stopped responding.  He was in middle of configuration, so now at present, only telnet is  able to login on "R2>" user mode, enable password is not set, so  getting "R2>en % No password set R2>" I have tried  different terminal software but no output from Console Port, changed the  Console Cables, replace with working console cables, change speed  (baud) settings. Also tried to connect same console with "AUX" port and  got same error mentioned above. AUX Port responds but I am not able to  change mode (R2#) because of incomplete running-config. it seems "Console Port" is physically  damaged.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560Gs / 4900Ms / Starting SSH Session From Console Port?

Dec 29, 2011

I console into switch 1 (or router, it doesn't matter) and everything is fine.  From that session I SSH to switch 2 (or router).  The session on the second device has a noticable delay when I type.Next I SSH to switch 1, then SSH to switch 2 from that session.  Everything works fine. Finally, I console to switch 1, and telnet to switch 2.  There is no delay. So it appears the delay only occurs when I open an SSH session while consoled into a device.  It didn't matter what switch 1 and switch 2 were - I had 3560Gs, 4900Ms and a 3845 router.  There's no special configuration on the console or vty ports - when I do a "show line console" and "show line vty 0" the output is basically the same.

No Response From External IP?

Aug 21, 2012

I use Comcast, and am trying to set up an FTP server that I can access from outside my home network. I need the external IP address for that to work, and I have gotten this IP address from IPChicken. I can ping it from the internal network just fine, but when I'm connected to a different network (I've tried two), I get no response, using both the IP address and the associated host name. Of course, I also cannot log into FTP.

I spoke with Comcast support, and their advice was to enable MAC filtering and add the external IP address to it..
