I am not getting interface up/down logs in my switch console through show logging command. Switch model cisco WS-C4506-E and IOS :- cat4500e-ipbasek9-mz.122-53.SG3.bin. I have done below mention configurations, we can't configure logging level beyond informational. [code]

We have cisco 4506 and this got reloaded automatically and showing reload in show version output but no one made switch reload.

We use C2950G switches with IOS 12.1(22)EA12 . Switches are set up to send logs to a server (informationnal level). On this server, we receive many of logs from those switches, but none about interfaces errors (even if interfaces statistics show interfaces errors). On C3548 switches it's work fine.How should I be sure the set up of switches is correct ? Why do I never receive messages as %LINK-4-ERROR:[char] is experiencing errors ?

All other switches are OK and do not show anything in their logs. I am trying to figure out what could be going wrong. Spanning tree is enabled on all switches. The switch tihs is happening on, ends in the ip 172 and is where all building cables connect to. They also connect to 174. I have attached an image of the infrastructure so you can visually see what i mean.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a client whom has asked me to enable web management on some of his 2960 switches. I did not think this was going to be an issue, and so I told the customer I would set this up for him.
Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".
I can't connect to the console of switch cisco sge2010, I tried several console cables and none worked for me, I followed step by step manuals and nothing.
Also try the web 192.168.1.254 according to the manual but when I connect from the laptop to do ping to the switch doesnt work.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Catalyst 2924 switch in a home lab. Both of them have developed the same problem at the same time (strange). I have tried all that I can think of. I can telnet to them but cannot access via the console port. On a telnet session I execueted a "write erase, reload" on one of them. As I anticipated this threw me out of the telnet session and I presently have no access to that switch.
The console cable is fine, works for all other devices.
I want to configure my switch via console cable, the switch boots up normally, and there are no configurations present on the switch. However, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client. I used several terminal clients (TeraTerm, PuTTY, HyperTerminal), all latest versions as well as different PCs. I even forced the switch to rommon mode, still, anything I type does not appear on the terminal client.

After the last line, I can not type any command at all. I encountered this on three 2960 switches that we have here in our laboratory.
I've been assinged a task to connect our branch office with the head office, so that the IP Phones in the branch office can be connected to Cisco Call Manager at head office. To accomplish this they have given a Cisco 877 Adsl router a 10 Port 3-COM POE Switch and 3 Cisco 7911 IP Phones. Currently the there are 7 PC's Connected to 3 COM Switch which indeed is connected to a Internet router(Speedtouch). First I thought of connectiong the IP Phones to the Ethernet Port on Cisco 877 router but had to change my mind as the ports are non POE ports and I do not have adapters for IP phones. So I've decided to connect the Phones to 3 COM Switch and create VLAN's (DATA & VOICE) and pass the DATA traffic through Speed Touch and Voice traffic through the Cisco 877 router, but when I tried accessing the 3-COM Switch via Console I am getting Junk language( See the attachment for reference).

i'm trying to enable command authorization for ssh as well as console access to a Nexus 7010 box (version 5.0). Following is the config:

aaa authentication login default group ACS5-1 local

As you can see, the default group configuration ACS5-1 for authenticatoin has applied to both defaults and console. But the command authorization does not appear to be applied to the console. As a result, when i login from the console and get authenticated, the command authorization does not trigger and i can run commands I'm not supposed to. In the configuration, I do not see "aaa authorization console" option unlike we have in IOS.
I planed to configure a new catalyst 2960 switch with console cable.
During the boot, all seems ok. but from my terminal client, I can't have access to configuration mode.Keyboard or Terminal client is not sending commands to the switch.

is it possible, to use a Catalyst Switch (in my case a 3560E) as a source for a console session to another Catalyst? In principle to use it as a console terminal server.

I was told I could just get any DB9- to- USB cable and that would work. I did buy a DB9-to-USB cable and it did not work. I looked up the installation guide for this module and it just said the console cable is DB9-to-USB but with no part number.

I was looking for a way to connect an AUX port from a 1700 router to a 6500 switch module console port, to see the output of the Switch's on the 1700 router, in case there is a network downtime, I could see what's going on in the switch, what cable should I use ? Also, is there is any kind of documentation for this type of config what have I seen is very few info.

I'm on a mac running 10.7.3, and I've tried Firefox and Safari. I've also tried on a friends PC with Internet Explorer 8.On the mac, I can go into the terminal and can see that the switch has the correct IP address and is seen on both ethernet ports.

Is there a way to change interface numbers on a 3750 stack but, still retain the config of the physical port?
For instance:
I would like to take the top switch, which has the ports numbered g2/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g1/0/1 - 52. And the bottom switch, which has ports numbered g1/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g2/0/1 - 52. Basically, just swap the interface numbers but, not effect any interface configurations.
I am trying to configure 802.1x wired on a 3560 switch and don't see the required commands under the interface. I am running c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin. I was thinking it might not be available on the ipbase image, but I do have the commands on a 3750g running the ipbase image, so I'm not sure about that.

there is only one sup engine installed and redundant slot is empty.
I installed one ethernet module in the slot 6 and it get detected working fine. I also want to install one fiber module but that module is only supported by 12.2 54 sg or later ios version.so i need an ios upgrade.
For the ios upgrade I decide to do it through svi interface For that i igive an ip address to vlan 1 (192.168.1.2) and plug cable in gigabit 6/1 and added that port into valn 1.
my laptop's ip is 192.168.1.1 @ this point i faced a rare problem the PING IS NOT WORKING.(switch is directly connected to my laptop).
Then i create another VLAN (2) and add that port into vlan 2 still ping is not getting.last thing i tried is that making that gigabit port into a routed port and result is same.
Is it possible to view extensive information about switch supervisor on WS-C4506 platform? I could use show module or show inventory, but this only displays the module name. For example how to view the amount of SRAM the SUP has? Or any other similar more detailed information?

Its pretty small but I am bearly an smart user, noobie if so.I have a Motorola Cable Modem model SB5101 receiving the internet from Shaw Cable.from there I have an ethernet cable to my switch (Cisco SE2500) from there I have two ethernet cables coming out, one goes to my PC and the other one goes to an Airport Extreme so our laptop.I am just here double checking this info... sice this is an unmanaged switch I guess there is no way of accesng an interface to make this happen.I just hate spending the money in something I wont be using just because I dont know whats going on.
