Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2691 - Unable To Reach Enable Mode By Console Connection

May 10, 2012

I have 2691 router with following config

line console 0
login local
password xty

When i remove the login local from the line console i connect to console port and press enter it shows router prompt 2691Router> but i am  unable to go to enable mode.If i telnet to router then i put username and pw then it goes straight to enable mode.

vty config is

line vty 0 4
exec-timeout 600 0
logging synchronous
login local
length 500
transport input telnet ssh
escape-character 3

Any reasons why i can not go to enable mode by console?

I try to recover password by following the recovery procedure. After the boot command, I never see the message "Continue with the configuration dialog? [yes/no]: ".

I am using radius authentication on C4507R+E with supervisor card 6L-E and IOS 15.0.2(SG1). It works perfectly but all radius messages appear in the console. Radius is very verbose, I can't use console because of the significant number of messages and I am worried about switches performances. I add that all debug commands are disabled.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5510 / Subnets Unable To Reach Outside?

Feb 18, 2012

I'm replacing our current router with an ASA 5510 running 8.4(3) and I'm having what I think are NAT issues.From the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet, I'm able to reach the outside world (via NAT/PAT) without any issues. However none of the internal subnets (e.g. 192.168.10.0/24) are able to. Packet-tracer shows no ACL issues.

Here's my config:

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Unable To Console / Ssh To 6513

Aug 9, 2012

I have a 6513 with redundant sup 720-3B's that I cannot get onto.  In short, one of the power supplies failed, it still passes traffic but I can't console or ssh to the box.  Other than the two sup 720's, I have a 4 port 10gig card, a 16 port GBIC Card and an IDS module.  I have tried removing the 10Gig, IDS and one of the sup's but still don't get anything on the console.  I have rebooted the entire chassis and don't get anything on my console while booting.  I have tried changing the speed of my terminal to every setting available incase someone has changed it at some stage but to no avail. I have tried swapping sup's, using only one at a time in the chassis but not getting anything. Is there anything else I can try to get onto this chassis?  The power supply is a 3000w with a 32amp input.  The failed power supply had tripped a switch, when i brought it back up, the power supply came out but the output failed LED is on. My #questions are, is there anything else I can do to try get onto the console, and is the power supply goosed when the RED LED is lit?  I have reseated the power supply also but the same result.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509 - Client Mode / Enable VTP Transparent?

Mar 25, 2012

My current production network is setup using VTP in Client mode, and I am looking to enable VTP Transparent so I can enable the extended VLANs. My main question would be, would enabling VTP Transparent on my 6509 affect all of the access switches it is connected to? And if so, would changing all of the access switches to VTP Transparent allow them to regain connectivity quickly with little downtime? Or is there another way that I should be handling this situation to enable the extended VLANs?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Unable To Login To 2960 Via Console Through Terminal Server

Oct 23, 2012

I have a set-up with multiple C2960 and C3750 switches. All these devices are being managed remotely. So basically I login to C2901, which is used as a Terminal Server,  and reverse SSH to the console of each device. That's - I have assigned an IP to each port of the terminal server so that I can SSH directly to the desired device through via the mapped IP.

Now, recently I had to restart couple of switches - one C2960 and C3750. I initiated the reboot via console connection remotely. I could see the device logs for some time and then the logs stopped and there was no reaction from the console irrespective of any command I tried to enter.

I tried resetting the line on the terminal server, but that didn't work.

Now when I try to SSH the IP mapped to console of that particular device - i dont get any login prompt and there is no effect on device after giving any command. Although i can see the logs on the console session - but cant do anything.

I have a second way of connecting the device via inband- management, and checked the device config found it correct. It is same as other devices which are working correctly.

Both C3750 and C2960 are behaving exactly same - can see logs on console but see effect of even pressing enter - not getting login prompt as well.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Cannot Reach Gateway Through Routing Switch (3750)

Mar 11, 2012

I'm running into what seems a basic ip routing config problem with a Catalyst 3750 (IP Base) switch. I have several VLANS configured on the switch with IP routing enabled, and the switch is connected to the inside interace of a new ASA 5520 as follows:

ASA5520 IP (Default gateway): 192.168.1.1Switchport Gi1/0/1 is configured as a routed port, IP address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0Example VLAN is VLAN 100, IP address 192.168.100.1 255.255.252.0 From the switch CLI, I can ping all VLAN addresses, as well as the ASA5520, and the client laptop I'm testing with from VLAN 100.

From the client laptop on VLAN 100, I can ping all switch interface and VLAN addresses (inter-VLAN routing is working), including 192.168.1.3, but I CANNOT ping the default gateway at 192.168.1.1.

Here is the relevant configuration information on the 3750:

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2940 - MacBook Pro - Can't Reach ISP

Mar 3, 2012

I have this strange problem with my Macbook pro, when I connect it to my cisco 2940 8 port switch then I can reach my ISP (websites eg. google.com) in like 2 minuttes, then something is happening on my router, because suddenly I can´t reach my ISP

This is what I have found out so far:

1. when I lose connection to my ISP then I can only ping internal ip addresses eg. another computer in my network

2. if I renew my ip address on the Macbook then it works again in 2 minutts, then the same happens again. This is my network setup:

Router -> Switch 1 -> Switch 2

I also know that it is not the Macbook, because it have got a new motherboard, and it have been reinstalled
also if I use the Macbook on a other network then it works fine.

All my other computers ( windows and linux ) works fine, no problems.

To me it looks like it is a Nat and/or DNS problem, but I can´t fine out what it is.
