Cisco Switching/Routing :: Enable Url Filtering On 2691 Or 2651XM Routers

I was wondering if i can enable url filtering on my 2691 or 2651XM routers so that if someone visits any website i can see that under router logs. right now i am using kiwi syslog that logs the router activities.
When i remove the login local from the line console i connect to console port and press enter it shows router prompt 2691Router> but i am unable to go to enable mode.If i telnet to router then i put username and pw then it goes straight to enable mode.
vty config is
line vty 0 4 exec-timeout 600 0 logging synchronous login local length 500 transport input telnet ssh escape-character 3
Any reasons why i can not go to enable mode by console?
I am planning to enable MAC address filtering (one port on 4510 & another 3560). I want to allow only that MAC address to communicate via that port with the rest of the network and internet.
4510 has PC connected and 3560 had polycom connected. [code]
My 2691 Router has already 2 serial cards WIC-1DSU-T1 installed, When i install the 3rd serial card and reboot the router, it detects the 3rd card installed but 3rd card has no light.
When i do sh ver it shows 3 cards installed.
When i install this 3rd serial card to other Router then light shows on card and it works fine
So i am thinking if 2691 Router only supports 2 serial cards?
We're starting to share video across our network and would like to setup multicast to conserve at least some of the bandwidth. We have a broad mix of equipment (A Catalyst 6509-E at the core, a combination for Cisco 2691 & 2811 routers, and a whole lot of Catalyst 3500, 3550, 3560 switches at a hundred locations. Where would I begin? Would I need to define routing for the multicast IP addresses (224.0.0.0)? Would I need to setup interfaces & IP networks where each multicast device is located like I would for a new IP subnet?
Here is my Lab Setup: 2691 is BGP nei to R4 router and they are not directly connected. 2691 and R4 are in same AS 6500. 2691 Config---router ospf 1 network 3.3.3.3 0.0.0.0 area 0 . Its advertising its loop back IP to OSPF domain.
We can see that 2691 and R4 are BGP neis and 2691 has 200.1.x.x routes in its route table. My question is why from 2691 router i am unable to ping any route learned by BGP from R4?

I am trying to block clients based on MAC addresses connecting to our Wireless Guest network.
My scenario is: We have 2 interfaces (corporate and a guest). Users are connecting to our guest network after they have automatically connected to our corporate network and logged into Windows. When they realise that things are not quite working in the way they want (access to servers etc...), they reboot and then find they cannot logon to the laptop at all. This is because the laptop has automatically rejoined the guest network and has no access to AD. I then have to locally logon to the laptop and remove the guest network.
It’s starting to become a bit of a pain as we are an educational establishment and... well... you would wouldn’t you

So far I’ve tried enabling MAC Filtering under “Security -> AAA -> MAC Filtering”, but found out that it’s a white list. The opposite of what I’m trying to achieve, but I like the fact you can link it to a specific interface.
I’m just looking at the “Disabled Clients” again under “Security -> AAA ->”, but think this is more a total ban as I cannot see a method at attaching it to an individual interface. I'm kindda stuck and my good old friend Google is not yielding great results.
I’m not by any means a wireless expert, so there is probably a better method. I would prefer to use the controller as a way of achieving this, but if you think I’m wasting my time and should be looking at a Windows Group Policy method then I’ll go with that?
DIR600 doesn't allow me to enable wireless MAC filtering when I setup DIR600 as access point. (I connected DIR600 (access point) to my another room's router.)
I had configured one access point CAP3602E in flex connect mode through a WLC 5508 after deploying the access point in flex control mode the local mac-filering is not working. before it was working when ap was in local mode. any body have to know is the mac-filtering working in flex-control mode ?
It shows this option "Filter wireless clients: Apply MAC Filtering to devices that connect to the network via Wi-Fi. This is the normal usage of MAC Filtering. Filter wired clients: "However I don't see that option on the actual page. How can i enable Mac address filtering only for the wireless side?
When disabling SSID broadcast and enabling MAC address filtering on WAG320N, my other wireless laptop get disconnected. And when you try to connect, it doesn't connect again.
We have a Cisco 2651XM at the edge of our network, which routes our public IP block. This sits on a 100 Mbit/s ethernet pipe (full duplex) up in the datacenter. We are also running 100mb full duplex on our our side of the network. We have several public servers behind the router.
We have recently set-up a new Apple OS X Lion Server to serve a few websites. However, when downloading some files from the server the from a remote location, I noticed I can only get a maximum of 15 Mbit/s out of the connection.
When downloading a large file over HTTP (Apache) from this OS X Lion server from another server on the same internal network (behind the router), we get a full 100 Mbit/s transfer speed.
However, when we download the same file from anywhere on the internet (external side of the router), we can only manage to get 15 Mbit/s out of the transfer.
However, we also have other Linux & Windows servers that we can achieve a full 50 Mbit/s (our office connection speed) externally under the same network conditions.
So it also appears it's only for a single connection - not a limitation for the whole server. If I open two HTTP connections, I can get say 15 Mbit/s out of each transfer - totalling 30 Mbit/s... if that makes sense.
Update: I also notice slower ping latency when pinging from outside the network. Most of the servers reply in 15ms while the new OS X server usually takes over 40ms on average.

I have a router with two interfaces what i need to filter the HTTP traffic from one interface and the rest of the traffic through the other on my cisco router 2800.
I have the need to filter multicast between vlans as described below. PIM Sparse-Mode is being utilized for this multicast network and changing any Vlan to PIM Dense mode is not an option.
- Vlan 217 and Vlan 4 should not be communicating on mcast with any other vlan, including eachother (each vlan isolated).
-Vlan 64 and Vlan 80 are able to communicate witch each other on mcast but not with any other vlans (isolated vlan group).
-All other vlans can communicate mcast freely.
What I've created thus far is below. It does not appear to be the most elegant solution and would be difficult for the administrators to adjust as new requirements come along. Yes, I will be adding the appropriate link-local multicast addresses so as to not break routing and other dependent technologies.

Probably an easy fix but something's weird in my config. I am setting up a new network, so this is not production, Routed environment, down to the access layer using 3560-x l3 switches.

My objective is to allow all traffic OUTBOUND to certain subnets (10.10.0.0/24, 10.10.100.0/24, 10.10.110.0/24 10.10.120.0/24) and block any other 10.0.0.0/8 networks. By doing it this way, after blocking all other internal traffic, I allow everything else to ensure internet traffic can go out.

Trying to control capacity utilization for guest users connecting to a 2960 switch. No problem for IPv4 users, but IPv6 is giving me fits. What I've found out by trial and error so far implies that there is just enough IPv6 smarts in a WS-C2960-24TT-L running c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-1.SE to make it impossible to control IPv6 traffic. Blocking IPv6 would be sufficient short term, but MAC filtering on type 0x86DD does not appear to work either. Here are the results I've gotten so far:
What "works":
* Protocol ipv6 or an IPv6 ACL in a class map.
* Using a class map referencing ipv6 protocol or an ipv6 ACL in a policy map.
* IPv4 inbound filters and policing.
* Blocking of IPv4 traffic by a MAC ACL blocking type 0x0800 (IPv4) - note that the docs explicitly state that MAC filters do NOT filter IP traffic, except for on this box on this release they do.
What does not work:
* Applying a policy map referencing a class map referencing protocol ipv6 or an IPv6 ACL to an interface. The service policy is accepted by the parser, but is not inserted into the running configuration.
* "class-default" in a policy map only matches IPv4 traffic, not all other traffic.
* Blocking of IPv6 traffic by a MAC ACL blocking type 0X86DD. No problem applying the access-group to the interface, it just doesn't do anything.
I am aware that this box is not supposed to support IPv6 other than for multicast, but as implemented, this is a hole an abuser could drive a MAC truck through.
My questions:
Is this situation unique to this particular 2960 switch or SW release (I also tried 12.2(58)SE2) or does it afflict all 2960's running LANbase?
Assuming the answers to the first two question are negative, what is the minimum requirement to get working IPv6 policing in an edge switch?
How filter inbound routes in Cisco ASA OSPF? Because Cisco ASA has no "distibute-list" command for OSFP process configuration, I try to use "filter-list" command in area definition. So, I try to use next configuration:
1. I'm interested if it's possible to block certain contetn only at certain time ? e.g. We would like to block facebook from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00. I was going through cisco manuals but can't find the right answer to this.
2. Cisco 871 has 4 LAN interfaces and one WAN interface. Currently WAN interface is connected to adsl modem in bridge mode and LAN 0 interface is connected to switch.
I'm interested if I could use remaining 3 LAN interfaces for adsl connections same as I'm using WAN interface. Then I would create vlans that would use LAN interface 0. Each of those VLAN's would use different adsl connection.I would assign different IP to each VLAN's so users would be able to change their gateway and use different ADSL connection.
I have purchased these two switches from ebay as a test lab, I plan to connect them up via a gigastack modulecable and enable ip routing on the c3550 and vlans to talk to each other.
I'm very much a procurve person and really need to get into the cisco switching.I will want to trunklacp between the switches - whats the process is setting that up on cisco switches?
Have a 3750X running at the moment and has about 30 vlans all connected and just use the ip route global config command to enable routing. Plan is to switch out to the 4503E, with IPBase license. When ever I issue the same command, and do a show run its not there. I get no error when I issue the command either. And yes I have rebooted. Do I need to use RIP or OSPF routing? When I do a show ip route the screen looks the same with all the codes, though gateway of last resort isn't set even though I do have ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 a.b.c.d in the config. Or is ip routing just enabled by default?
I am trying to enable policy based routing on a new 3560x switch.The device has the following code c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin and the IPSERVICES license
I can create the route map in global config mode but when I try to enable pbr under the required interface the commands are not there.therefore I am typing ip policy route-map "name" the word policy does not show up in the interface config mode. I have also change the sdm profile to routing this has not made a difference.
I am trying to configure a 3750 48 port switch and having trouble with getting it to see the sfp. I just want to set up the router with a pretty basic set up since I am using it for a ping test between 2 buildings, via fiber. How I can enable the sfp port?
