I have a ZyXel P-660R-D1 DSL modem, and lately I've been experiencing random outages. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of networking, but I know enough to look around the modems GUI and recognize when something isn't right. I'm pretty sure this is not a problem on my end, but I'd like to hear a few other peoples opinions. Basically I have four lights on the modem: Power, Ethernet, DSL, and Internet. DSL is the light that indicates connection to the PPPoE server, and lately it will just randomly drop. I've never experienced problems connecting with the PPPoE server until just recently. Every once in a while my Internet light will drop, and a simple reset will take care of it, but rarely am I ever not connected to the PPPoE server. One day it was down for three or so hours, one day for nine, another day it cut in and out for about four hours, and today was another nine hour day. how it works is that my username and password are verified through the ISPs PPPoE server, and then I am granted access to the web. I'm lead to believe that it's nothing on my end because all troubleshooting methods fail, it just randomly fixes itself several hours later. The first nine hour stretch I experienced I thought may have been because of maintenance or some other unforeseen circumstance, but it has happened a few times now so I'm not too sure. My provider, Earthlink, hasn't listed any 'Known Outages' on their site, but then again they never do.
We have WLC-4402 and LWAP-1510, we have issue when users trying to connect to pppoe server with pppoe connection from wireless network. On LAN, pppoe connection work properly and everything is normal. Also I enable broadcast fowarding on GUI but he problem still exist.
I´m trying to configure SR520 Cisco router as PPPoE server. The point is, when configuration is done and PPPoE client is directly connected to the interface, SR520 doesn´t respond to incoming PADI. PADI is not shown in PPPoE debugs (debug pppoe events, packets and errors). On the other hand, I get the PADI capturing packets with wireshark (so PADI is being sent) and the same configuration on other router works fine.
There is one router ( SWR54BGA ), wan interface functional ( connected as a dhcp client to the lan interface of another router , packets are forwarded). When i connect the wan interface to the isp line, and provide the pppoe login details ,it won't work. When i try to connect manually to the pppoe server from the wan configuration page, after about 30 sec i get the connection failed message. Is the firmware corrupt, should i go the ddwrt route?
I am working to test the PPPoE solution. The requirement is that she like to have a PPPoE server (7200), enable the DHCP pool on the router. The PPPoE client (1811) should receive the IP address through the DHCP and with subnet mask (/24) so that routing protocol can enable between the PPPoE server and client. We test with some initial configuration but not success to obtain DHCP address from the pool.

I installed a Linksys WRT54G2 router earlier this year and set my Siemens modem from AT&T(Actually from SBC before the two merged) in bridge mode. I did this so I could change the NAT setting on our internet, which was interfering with my Xbox. It worked for about 4 or 5 months with little to no problems. Recently, however, the internet has been disconnecting and when I check the status page on the router it says it is disconnected. Sometimes clicking on the connect button will work, but usually it will say "Connecting" and keep refreshing the page for a little while without any change, then give me a message saying it couldn't get the IP from the PPPoe server. Turning it and the Siemens modem on and off and fiddling around seems to solve the problem, but only temporarily. Interestingly enough, I don't think it ever interferes with my Xbox. Until recently, the Xbox was set as the highest priority on the QoS page, but I changed the computer to the highest priority and it hasn't worked. In addition, the small, thin green light bar just below the Linksys logo on the top of the router has just recently started changing to orange occasionally
I have a Linksys WRT310N V1.I am trying to connect this via PPPoE to another Thompson router/modem that has been succesfully switched into BRIDGE mode. The Linksys router is conneted via ethernet cable to an ehternet port on the Thompson router. The ADSL cable is pluggedinto the WAN port of the Thomson 'bridge'.There is no cable in the WAN port of the Linksys router.
The Linksys router is set up to connect over PPPoE using the username and password that was given to me by my ISPs tech support (checked and double checked). The DHCP server on the Bridged Thomson is set to ON. DNS is set to OFF.the DHCP server on the Linksys router is set to ON.
I recently bought an E3000. I am trying to setup a wireless home network.Google and tried a lotta things (power cycle the most no. of times ). Nothing worked. So I poked around. Looked up the IPConfig of my PC with wire connected directly(no router), was 192.168.0.xxx. So I hit 192.168.0.1 in my browser address bar, and it came up with the login page for a D-Link DIR600. A wireless router with wireless disabled. Apparently this is being used as a switch by my ISP. This I know cause I checked the active connections and DHCP reservations on the D link and it showed up about 100 different PC's (including MAC and IP addresses).
I have been working on this for hours and getting frustrated! This router has been set up for over a year with no trouble, but recently had trouble connecting with my wireless devices and was kicking my wired (ethernet) laptop off when it is usually on all the time.
Now, my wired connection works through the router, the wireless devices all connect to the network but do not have access to theinternet. From the router's setup page, when I enter my PPPoE information and go to status and connect, it tries to connect a few times then gives me the error message 'cannot get IP address from PPPoE server"
I have tried updating firmware, resetting, restarting, recycling power, chat support with ISP and chat support with Linksys. Have verified my username and key and those are correct otherwise I'd have no internet access at all. I do have wired access but not wireless. The wired connection does go through the router.
Bridging - my modem is a bridging modem only, so it shouldn't be that.
I'm planning to deploy PPPoE Server (Cisco Router 7609) for an ISP. This ISP will provide Internet connection for customer over Ethernet (QinQ VLAN).I have to provide a solution to assign bandwidth to each customer by RADIUS. I found some documents about this function but they said that it could work with PPPoA or PPPoE over ATM only. So which method I shoud deploy to get this goal?

Two days ago our desktop computer stop having internet access. I called my ISP about this problem and they said that everything was fine with my router and that it might be a bad cable. I bought a new cable and it wasn't the cable. I called my dad's friend who works with computers and he said that he thought the NIC was bad. So we went to Staples and bought a Gigabit Ethernet PCI Adaptor, because that would fix the problem, well i installed all of the software and it didn't and we're stumped on what to do.
Our laptop still gets wifi however when I try to connect on my desktop it says that it can't connect through the WAN miniport PPPOE. It gives me error 815
I have a Broadband Optical fibre cable which i used to connect directly to my Desktop and Laptop, i am running win7 on on my desktop/laptop, yesterday I installed Belkin router for my Laptop, worked fine, laptop is wireless now. But when I connected the desktop directly there is an error "670 cannot connect to the server/ cannot find the modem" I deleted the dialup and created new one still the same issue. However If i connect the cable through the Router to the desktop it works. I think I lost the direct connection.
I have a static IP at home and i have setup my Westell DSL modem to bridge - like the ISP told me too. Then i change my 655 to PPPoE username and password, but when i give it the static IP, it won't connect. But when i change it to DHCP, it connects. Is this a Router issue, or a ISP issue. I am leaning toward ISP, but i wanted to check with DLink first.
i have a Dlink DSL-2730U (an expensive, el cheapo router devoid of any functionalities, which also offers a way to connect to net as a side feature).basically i need to disconnect / reconnct pppoe without rebooting the router. but theres no button on the wan page for doing so.i noticed clicking on most of the buttons redirect to some non-html urls, like .cmd, .cgi etc, and some of them are common for many routers. e.g. on my router, "reboot" takes me to
The RV180W would not connect to an AT&T DSL connection using PPPoE (modem in bridge mode), or behind the DSL Modem/router with the DSL modem/router providing a dynamic IP to the RV180W or a cable modem (TimeWarner Roadrunner dynamic IP). I upgraded the firmware yesterday and now the RV180W will connect to a dynamic WAN IP, but it still will not connect using PPPoE.
I have also noticed the admin interface is only accessible about 75% of the time. When going to 192.168.1.1 the login prompts either don't come up or if they do, after logging in, the screen never fully loads after that. I have to reboot the router to get it to work.
Also, the router has not yet pulled DNS from either the DSL or the cable modem. I had to manually enter those addresses.
i have cisco Router ASR 1000 .. i configure it ... i need to connect using PPPOE through gigaethernet ....the error 720 appear to me so where the problem ?????????

I've been using my EA4500 since it's original launch date as a PPPoE router through another router/modem which is the Netgear DG834G V4 set to Modem Only mode which was working fine for a long time!A month ago, a friend wanted to borrow the Netgear Router and after he gave it back I reset it like I always do and entered my settings in router mode(i.e. username and password) to check if I havewe working Internet connection and that the router is working properly and it was working properly like it was before I lent it. Now comes the problem, if I keep using the Netgear router as the PPPoE handler and make the EA4500 work as "Automatic Configuration DHCP" it works flawlessly but if I set the Netgear router to modem mode and make the EA4500 handle the PPPoE connection, the report in the troubleshooting tab keeps on saying "Connecting" endlessly!
Note: I've replicatedthe settings that I used on both router before and after lending it to my friend so there's no difference in settings!
When the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my laptop i can input my user name and password and connect directly without a problem. But as soon as i plug the cable into the router, the activity lights turn off like its not plugged in on the other end...which it is. So when going through the setup process, both using the cd and inputting the information on the web based setup. It does nothing, the automatic setup says the cable isnt plugged in. When using the browser setup i can click connect as many times as i want and it does nothing but say disconnected.
I am using wrt54gx4. I have a IP camera connected to it. I can view the live images on the intranet and internet. Not too long ago my DSL company upgraded my DSL modem to a newer model. Then I can not connect to the internet by PPPoe. DHCP is fine. So the only connection type works is DHCP. But now I can not view the live images on the internet. I can only view the live images on intranet( I mean if I open web browser and type url.. is the port, I can view the live image).
I am trying to connect to the internet using the PPPoE feature of the router but the router configuration is not successful. Says something like "WAN connection not successful". I have supplied the correct username and password. The connection is ok in my laptop if i directly connect my laptop to the Ethernet port of the modem without the router. Is this a sharing problem from the ISP?
When my RV220W used firmware 1.0.0.26 the PPPoE login to AT&T/Bellsouth DSL worked just fine. I upgraded to version 1.0.1.0 and now it won't connect. The PPPoE connection still works from my prior Linksys router so there wasn't a change on the ISP side. Has something changed in firmware 1.0.1.0 that requires a change to the PPPoE profile?
DSL Modem is a Motorola Netopia (model 2210-02) with firmware 7.7.3r10 operating in Bridged mode.
I recently changed my internet connection to DSL from Cable, so now I'm using PPPoE type of connection.
Right now my router is configured as Automatic DHCP with the modem doing the PPPoE connection. All is fine and well.
Since I own a PS3, and Nat Type 3 conection is really bad for my online gaming, I would like to bridge my modem and connect to the internet through my router. That way I can properly forward my ports, use QoS and effectively get a better connection on the PS3.
I was able to successfully bridge the modem, but the PPPoE config on the router isn't able to connect to the internet.
Modem and router have been reinitialized after the configurations were changed. I do have the username and passwords, and they were properly put on the router.
I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
I've recently bought a WRT54GL router, and I`m having some problems with it. The original firmware the router came with had a bug, and couldn`t even connect to a PPPOE network. I downloaded the latest firmware version for this model (4.30.14 build 5, Oct. 26, 2009). Now it can connect to PPPOE but the broadband speed is limited to ~ 30Mbits/s. My ISP normally provides a download speed up to 80-90MBits/s, and if I bypass the router, and connect the internet cable directly to my PC, it works.
The QoS is disabled, so this can`t be the problem, but I searched the internet, and I found that it can be because the router`s CPU is too slow and can`t handle connections up to 80-90Mbit/s download speed, but this sounds a little bit weird to me.Did any of you gus run into this problem? Is it a hardware problem, or a software one? Maybe there`s something I need to set up in the admin interface?
I have install the administration toolpack on Windows 7 and enabled remote connections on my server 2008 box, When i try and connect with my Windows 7 server manager it does not work.I see stuff on google about enabling a trustedhost with winrm but can't find a way to do this.
After getting New Workstations, I wanted to connect that to the SERVER but Windows 7 could not log into domain of our server with Windows Server 2003. Besides following the proper process/steps. I am able to use the printer and internet shared through SERVER though.
Few days ago I started to get the following error message while trying to connect to the internet using Chrome and IE:"Unable to connect to the proxy server..."I don't have a proxy server configured - nothing is checked in the LAN settings page.In Firefox I don't have that problem - it seems it gets the proxy configuration from elsewhere.
when i connect my sylvania netbook to my wireless internet it says connected, excellent signal but when i try to pull up a web page it says can not connect to server...
I just switched to DSL from cable internet and am having some trouble setting up my router with the new internet service. DSL modem-->Router-->Network with PC and PS3
ISP is ATT DSL modem is a TP-Link 8616 Router is a D-Link DIR-628
I put my ATT username and password into the router but it never completes a connection to the internet. I was able to create a soft PPPoE gateway connection through my computer using my username and password, but I want my router to do this, not my PC. How do I get my router to connect directly to the Internet connection rather than having my PC connect? My setup would be fine as-is if I just had 1 computer but I also want to go online with my PS3, and it won't connect like my PC will, even after putting the username/password in.
I have a Cisco 877 doing PPPoE through a ISP supplied modem that is in bridge mode (long story). When the DSL drops on the modem it takes around 5 to 10 mins for the 877 to redial the connection.
Here is the config I'm running:
interface Vlan1 description PPPoE-Interface(WAN) ip address dhcp load-interval 30 pppoe enable group global pppoe-client dial-pool-number 1
[code]....
Its possible some of that config is redundant but I've tried as much as I can see online.
