I need clarification on cisco WLC 4402 which have two ports .
Can we connect one port on CORP core switch and one port in DMZ zone to bifurcate the guest traffic from WLC itself ?
In the company we have two SSIDs for corporate and guest networks respectively when I try to connect to any of the SSIDs it doesn't happen until 5 retries. The only log I get that seems to be related to it is the following:

Here it shows a switch between SSIDs but if you just turned on an apple device and try to associate for the first time to any of the SSIDs the scenario is the same, several tries to connect.I am running a 4402 wlc with 6.0.202.0 software version.

We are currently using a WEP/MAC authentication for staff and phone wireless networks.
I am looking for what your recommendation would be to provide reasonable level of wireless security, particularly with the staff network, but at the same time not require a high level of management, ex. managing active and inactive MAC addresses for MAC authentication. We have the following components available - 1240 APS, Windows AD, a 4402 WLC, and 6 campuses, and outdated Cisco ACS.We need to provide connectivity to Cisco wireless phones, laptops, iPads, cell phones.
All of a sudden my laptop, android phone and blu ray player (all wireless devices) can't communicate with my wired devices (marantz receiver and samsung tv). Everything still connects to the internet independently but i can't for instance play music from my wireless laptop to my wired marantz receiver. I had no trouble with this last week and didn't change anything (that I'm aware of) I did get Verizon to switch out my router but it didn't solve anything. My wife's computer also cannot connect to wired devices. Lastly, if I connect my laptop with via ethernet cable it sees wired devices fine. I tried shutting off windows firewall but didn't work. I have no other firewall/virus software installed. I can ping to all devices (wired and wireless) from my laptop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 4402 which is connected to a 4506 Switch int Gig 3/1 via a trunk port. The Managment and AP-manger interfaces are on vlan 6 [code] I have a 1142N AP also connected to the switch and it pulls a DHCP IP Address and configs etc and registers to the WLC. It too is on Vlan 6 and it is connected to the 4506 on int gig 4/33 which is an access port. [code] I am doing local authentication, so i have added users to the WLC.. My problem is that the first client that connected was able to get an IP address and connect to anything internal and external.I then connected another client on another laptop and that client could connect but not get an IP address, it just self assigned.When i look at the clients i can see the MAC address of both Clients on the WLC, but doing a show mac address-table dynamic i only see the MAC of the client that works properly. The client that doesnt get an IP has no entry in the 4506 switch.I am stumped, from what I understand, is that the 2nd clients traffic is being trunked to the WLC , hence it has the MAC address. But I dont know why its not getting a DHCP assigned IP address.

I have a WLC of 4402 and AP's of AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 . Where am getting problem of that users are complaining that they cannot connect it some times and they used to get disconnected in between.

I would like to know how to find out the IP address of each computer connected to each port of the switch. Is this possible and if so how can I do this from the browser interface?
During the summer we had three laptops and an iPod. Two of the laptops and the iPod were having trouble connecting to the Internet, but I thought that was because we had too many devices but I looked it up and most sites said that wasn't true.
Now we have two laptops and the iPod and there are still problems so I thought it was a modem issue. It's a Webstar DPC2100R2 and when the Up and Down lights go off our wireless has trouble but if I use cord which goes through a D-Link DIR-615, the Internet is fine. When the lights go out I usually turn off both devices and turn them back on after about a minute and that usually works.But then, the lights didn't come back on so I called my Cox, my provider and they did something that fixed for about a week then the two lights went out again. Yesterday I reset them again and my Acer Aspire connected and so did my iPod but my HP Pavilion couldn't so I reset it again. Now my HP and iPod work but my Acer doesn't even though I've reset it multiple times.
What's weird is that the HP never has any trouble connecting, even when the lights aren't on or when my iPod, Acer and my sister's Dell couldn't.
I am having 3 cisco wap4410n devices. i want to use them only in my home. i dont want to connect to internet. i want these devices only for intranet (only LAN) purpose. Means to transfer audio, video, songs through these devices. then how i will connect these devices in order to connect all the computers to each other ??

We bought Roku not long ago, which connects your tv to the internet so you can use netflix, hulu, etc., and it had no problem connecting. Now, it just stopped connecting. It detects the network but just wont connect to it. The password is right and everything. We also have this problem with an iPod touch, tablet, smartphone, and wii.

All of them can recognize the the network they just will not connect. All my freq are good 2.4 or 2.5. WEP Key works no problem, just the minute I try to connect the galaxy tab and cell phone just says "remembered, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK." The xbox when running the test connection fails as well.

I recently shut my computer down overnight, something I never do. When I booted it up the next day I had no internet connection. My computer is a desktop that's hard wired to a router and the modem. My son has a computer and an Xbox, both attached wirelessly to the router. Both of his computers are working mine is not. I keep getting a message saying "network is unidentified", but it won't let me pull up any networks. Its telling me there are no networks in my area. I have tried recycling both the router and modem numerous times, I even tried restoring my system to a date from last wk.

However I can connect to the network if I connect my laptop directly to the wireless router using a network cable.I have tried upgrading the firmware in my wireless router but no luck. View 3 Replies View RelatedJust installed a Linksys N750 (EA3500) router (WAN - LAN setup). I settled both band networks : 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz with different SSID and different WAP2/WAP personal mixt. WHile some devices will show both networks correctly, I'm facing issues with the 5Ghz band and wonder if this is sigh of some kind of failure:
- while my iPad offered both signals and let me set the 5 Ghz band, it is showing weak signal and stall on loading webpages; as soon as I instead put it on the 2.4Ghz band, (standing at same location of course), everything runs smoothly, excellent signal.
- I have a Mac Mini and PS3 side by side same location. The Mac Mini seems to works flawlessly under both bands, 2.4 or 5 - excellent signal. However, the PS3 fails its connexion test and states that signal is not perceptible on the 5Ghz. But connect as a snap on the 2.4 Ghz band.
- Got on and off 5Ghz signal on a laptop; connected to 2.4Ghz, everything runs perfect.
- iPhones 4S : I don't even see the 5Ghz SSID, but I get both the 2.4 and Guess account..So I'm tempted to conclude that some devices just can't follow the pace (??) to connect on 5Ghz..
I've been using a WRT160N for a couple of years now with no problems with any of my devices. I have a couple of certain devices (a DS and a PSP mainly) that utilize 802.11b and have been working perfectly up until now.
All of a sudden it seems like the router has decided all by itself to no longer allow 802.11b devices to connect to it, despite it being configured in mixed mode. (b/g/N) I've tried tinkering around with it, switching between Mixed and BG-Mixed, changing the channel to something more common and restarting the router, but I can't connect at all on these devices.Model: Cisco Linksys WRT160N v3.Firmware version: 3.0.03.
i have a belkin wireless router F6D4230-4. the "wired" and "router" lights are green but the "wireless", "modem", and "internet" lights won't come on. when they do, its red. the router is connected but won't pick up in any other rooms or on our phones.

Unfortunately, all four of his n-capable Windows computers will only connect at 54mbps. Four different computers (Win7, Vista, XP), each with a different brand/model of n-capable network adapter.
I suppose I could try setting the wireless to n-only instead of "mixed". However, he's got a couple g-only devices as well, so that wouldn't work.
I tried updating the firmware to latest/greatest - no effect.

I want to add more users to my home network and I couldn't, at this moment I only can connect 8 devices (12 devices at least) when I try to connect the next one its impossible, but if I take off one of the connected devices then the router allows to connect the new one.How can I connect more than 8 devices to my router ? (wireless)Also, is there any limits with Wireless MAC Address Filter ? because I can't add more than 8 MAC addresses in my old router I could do that.

I just replaced an old Linksys wireless-G router with a new Linksys EA6500 router. My needs are as follows: I am connecting 4 desktop computers (two personal and two business) via Ethernet cables. In addition there will be three smart phones, two DVD players and one game console connected wirelessly. In the future I will add a printer, hard drive and more wireless devices. After installing the hardware and running the setup disk all four computers wired with Ethernet cables worked fine (although they are not set up to communicate or share files with one another - they only need to access the internet. My problem is with the wireless connectivity. I cannot get any one of the wireless devices to work.
