Trying to find a way to configure my 851 for home use. My internet provider use PPPoE with PAP and althrough I found many configuration options they all are incomplete...or i cant find the logic behind those commands. First of all I need to say what I need:
1. Configurate my int Fa4 (WAN) with pppoe so when i insert my ISP cable in it it will negotiate and take IP.
2. Configurate DHCP on LAN (Fa0-3) so that when I insert my PC it will take a fake IP.
Here is the place where i found some conf examples: [URL] and I have some questions:
1. MTU - Should I use the 1492 value or the "pppoe-client ppp-max-payload 1500"?
2. ip route 10.10.25.2 255.255.255.255 dialer 0 - How can i set an IP route when my connexion informations only come after i connect? (Because is PPPoE)?
3. I cant configurate the DHCP because I dont know the default route, I dont know the DNS, and i dont know the default gateway because I dont know them due to PPPoE !
I have DSL 8Mbps DL and 768kbps UL The setup look like this:Internet -> Modem -> Cisco Router -> Firewall -> Switch Core - > Multiple switches like sfe2000p? CiscoRouter: i use port gig0/1 for PPPoE and i use port gig0/2 for LAN static Router port gig0/2 with 122.54.144.153/29 connected directly to Firewall port13 with 122.54.144.154/29 ?i want 122.54.144.153/29 will my default gateway ? include no limit bandwidth, filter etc at router, Firewall will be DHCP Server and control the bandwidth, filtering etc and the client computer should get 8Mbps

I've struggled now for a couple of days to setup a PPPoe connection on our cisco 887va box. I can setup straight away on a draytek box so i know the connection is good.I can't get the line protocol to come up? It's connected via ethernet port 0 to an external modem. One thing i can't figure out is if ethernet 0 and fast ethernet 0 is the same physical port?I've attached the running-config below.
I am working to test the PPPoE solution. The requirement is that she like to have a PPPoE server (7200), enable the DHCP pool on the router. The PPPoE client (1811) should receive the IP address through the DHCP and with subnet mask (/24) so that routing protocol can enable between the PPPoE server and client. We test with some initial configuration but not success to obtain DHCP address from the pool.
On PPPoE server router, ! ip dhcp pool DHCP-PPP network 192.168.254.0 255.255.255.0 default-router 192.168.254.254 [Code]...
I've been having this issue for about 3 months now, off and on, never seemed to be predictable but started happening more and more, which prompted me to look into it.
Currently, the DSL Modem is configured in bridge mode with the ASA handling PPPoE. The WAN address is being assigned via DHCP. The ASA is running 8.2(1). The WAN interface will drop it's DHCP lease and will not renew it without power cycling the DSL modem. I did a little bit of googling and found mention of setting "dhcp-client client-id interface outside", specifically this was an issue pre 7.2(22), but doesn't seem to affect my situation. Originally, I had the MTU on the outside interface configured as 1500, changing it to 1492 has not resolved my issue either.
I've enabled PPPoE and DHCPC debugging and posted the results below when the event occurs, I'm thinking this is moreso a PPPoE issue than it is a DHCP/DHCP Lease issue as I am not seeing any debug messages from DHCPC.
Windows Server - doing DHCP for private wired/wireless Cisco 1141 Autonomous WAP with only private wireless access. ASA 5505 (with very basic licensing) HP switch
The customer wants to have guest WiFi.
The guest WiFi is going out to the internet via a seperate VLAN/interface on the ASA. Can the 1141 do DHCP for the guest WiFi? Or do I need to do it via the ASA?
It seems that I can add a pool for any subnet except the 192.168.1.1/24. I have successfully added a pool for 192.168.0.1/24, 172.16.16.1/24, etc. But when I use the same commands to add a 192.168.1.1/24 pool, I get:
sw(config)#ip dhcp pool network Device sw(config-dhcp)#address low 192.168.1.20 high 192.168.1.250 255.255.255.0 Illegal IP addresses range or subnet configuration Trying to configure a network pool on default IP interface
VLAN 1 IP was changed from default 192.168.1.254 to a static of 192.168.0.1.
I have an ASA 5540 cluster that is configured as my remote access VPN point. Users connect using IPSEC Profiles with Cert based authentication, the profile is configured to query two DHCP servers (infoblox appliance servers).
The problem I am encountering, is that I need to make reservations on the DHCP server for some users for specific business needs. What happens is that the ASA passes the request to the DHCP server with it's own MAC address and not the MAC of the remote host.
Is there any way I can configure the ASA to pass the request using the hosts actual MAC address?
I receive a question from a future customer about this future if its supported on " WS-C2960S-24PS-L":configuring 2 dhcp server on this swith ( 1 dhcp for voice vlan , and 1 for Data Vlan).I did some search , but i didnt find the answer .i have to advice a customer before ordering the switch.
I'm trying to use an EPSON WF2530 printer over wifi from my laptop Everythings fine until the printer gets turned off and on and the router assigns a new (different) IP address via DHCP.
I can run:
sudo nmap -PR -sP 192.168.1.1/24
which returns a list of MAC addresses and IP addresses on the LAN and then manually set the printer properties to the new IP address or I can log into the WiFi router and inspect the DHCP table then do the same thing What I'd really like to be able to do is have Ubuntu handle this automatically, e.g. it queries the MAC addresses on the LAN, finds the printer, extracts the current IP address and sets the printer properties appropriately? have to check the printers IP address every time I want to use it.I don't want to go down the route of having a static IP table
router is Cisco Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router with Gigabit WAG320N
Just spoke to the TAC and didn't get the information needed. When configuring ip dhcp snooping database I am adding this to my configuration:ip dhcp snooping database scp://dhcpsec@192.168.1.50/home/dhcpsec/switch1.dhcp.database.txt..I assumed that to do this I would either specify the password on the command line, similar to the way its done when using ftp/http, or that I would need to create a public/private key.I have enabled scp and can manually copy a file from the switch to the linux server. So I believe I have all the aaa commands correct. Cisco WS-C3560G-24PS System image file is "flash:/c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE.bin".
configuring DHCP on access point, i have cisco 1142N access point, in my network.. working in autonomous mode, i have assigned a static ip to access point with default gateway.. from AP i'm able to reach internet and user connecting to access point are not able to get ip.. i have DHCP server in my network. how to make access point to fetch ip from my dhcp server and assign the saem to client.
I have some DHCP trouble since I subnetted my network with a 2921. My clinets are in 172.16.2.0/23 and DHCP servers are in 172.16.5.0/24.Sometimes, randomly I guess, I get NACK from my DHCP server, and if I look into DHCP logs I got something like this:
Have a client wanting to hand out public ip addresses to all clients from a PFSense Firewall terminating the internet connection.
How do I allow the Cisco Switches currently in place, configured with private ip addresses in the 10.10.x.x ranges and Vlans, where the main 3550 layer 3 has defined dhcp scopes for each vlan, to relay dhcp requests from all vlans to the PFSense firewall?
I assume I would take off the currently defined dhcp scopes for the vlans and configure each vlan/switch with the ip helper address and specify the PFSense firewall and that Nat would have to be disabled onthe firewall?
I have a Cisco ASA 5500 as the main router with a DIR-655 as a wireless access point behind it. DHCP is turned off on the 655 as the ASA is providing DHCP. This worked great for about a year and now suddenly, without any changes, I'm having problems. The only thing that connects without a problem is a laptop, which shows up on the device list with an IP. Other devices have problems. iPhones connect, show an IP on the device itself, but when listed in the connected list on the 655 show no IP. The connection is super slow. An Airport Express will connect, but again, shows no IP in the connected list on the 655. Using the ethernet cable from the Airport Express, nothing can get an IP. I can live with the iPhone not connecting, but the Airport Express not connecting is a major problem. Any reason why this would just stop working one day?
I have a Cisco 877 doing PPPoE through a ISP supplied modem that is in bridge mode (long story). When the DSL drops on the modem it takes around 5 to 10 mins for the 877 to redial the connection.
Here is the config I'm running:
interface Vlan1 description PPPoE-Interface(WAN) ip address dhcp load-interval 30 pppoe enable group global pppoe-client dial-pool-number 1
[code]....
Its possible some of that config is redundant but I've tried as much as I can see online.
Cisco 877W. I configured it for PPPoE. But once I plug in the ADSL line, the dialer interface will get IP Address. But after like 2 minutes the PPP link will go off and I will get this log message: "Interface Vi1 unbound from profile Di1".
Is it possible to set up a pppoe client on a VLAN interface, or a switch interface associated to an VLAN?. For example, in a 881 ethernet router, could I configure a pppoe client on any of the lan interfaces in addition to the pppoe client configured on the WAN interface?.
I am using ASA 5505 with firmware 8.2(2). My ISP uses PPPoE as a WAN connection protocol. There is a problem with getting PPPoE session started on my ASA 5505. The debug output says that after negotiation of PPP-authentication protocol ASA receives a PADT packet from ISP’s concentrator. To get more information I captured all packets on outside interface with WireShark. Packet-dumps (in .pcap format) are attached in this post. I have tried all possible combinations of PAP/CHAP/MSCHAP values in “vpdn group MYGROUP ppp authentication” command. If you take a look at the packet-dumps you can see, that in case of “PAP” – ISP’s concentrator rejects negotiation (PAP is not supported by my ISP). In case of CHAP/MSCHAP (that ARE supported by my ISP) – ASA acknowledges the using of MSCHAP v.2 PPP-auth protocol, which is actually not supported by it…
Judging by MAC-addresses of ISP’s concentrators it is visible that Cisco’s equipment also is used.
The questions is: Why ASA acknowledges using of unsupported ppp-auth protocol during negotiation and what I need to do to resolve this issue? (ISP’s support says, that they cannot change PPP-auth protocol negotiation order. Also they says that I need to contact with manufacturer of my equipment).
I have cisco router model 1921 , how can i terminate my existing pppoe connection to 1921, so that my other LAN users can use internet.
1- One cable (RJ45) which is comming from ONT has connected with Integrated WAN Port on router.
2- One cable (RJ45) which going to my LAN switch has connected with Integrated LAN Port on router.
Now i need to configure my router, so that i can give internet access to my LAN users. I red cisco's guides but not clear regarding configurations, because in guides they use modules to configure pppoe. But i am not using any module, i am simply connecting one cable for WAN and one for LAN.
PPPoE is established and I can access router from outside. But router can't ping itself and ouside and NAT isn't working as well. Main goal is to make Internet work from router.
Cisco IOS Software, C890 Software (C890-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(1)M7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2) version 15.0 no service pad service tcp-keepalives-in service tcp-keepalives-out
I have recently gotten a cisco 1941 router running version 15.1(3)T, and am trying to configure the router as a PPPoE server for access via a vlan on one of the gigabit ethernet ports.I currently have a cisco 2620 router (version 11.3(2)XA4) with the following relevant configurations:
I am trying to duplicate this (all but IP addresses) on the new router, but there are some options that do not seem to exist in this particular software/hardware combination. Specifically,
vpdn-group pppoe accept-dialin protocol pppoe
does not accept "pppoe" as a protocol, only allowing l2tp. What has changed, and what the proper configuration is.
I'm trying to get a PPPoE config working on an 1841. Running c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-3i.bin . I tried c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.151-4.M4.bin but it has even less protocol options.
I used a walkthrough but it suggests the following fragment which doesn't work because there is no "protocol ppoe" command available on my system. Perhaps there is a simpler way to do this? I tried c1841-broadband-mz.151-4.M4.bin but it doesn't seem to have ssh available.
I have a ZyXel P-660R-D1 DSL modem, and lately I've been experiencing random outages. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of networking, but I know enough to look around the modems GUI and recognize when something isn't right. I'm pretty sure this is not a problem on my end, but I'd like to hear a few other peoples opinions. Basically I have four lights on the modem: Power, Ethernet, DSL, and Internet. DSL is the light that indicates connection to the PPPoE server, and lately it will just randomly drop. I've never experienced problems connecting with the PPPoE server until just recently. Every once in a while my Internet light will drop, and a simple reset will take care of it, but rarely am I ever not connected to the PPPoE server. One day it was down for three or so hours, one day for nine, another day it cut in and out for about four hours, and today was another nine hour day. how it works is that my username and password are verified through the ISPs PPPoE server, and then I am granted access to the web. I'm lead to believe that it's nothing on my end because all troubleshooting methods fail, it just randomly fixes itself several hours later. The first nine hour stretch I experienced I thought may have been because of maintenance or some other unforeseen circumstance, but it has happened a few times now so I'm not too sure. My provider, Earthlink, hasn't listed any 'Known Outages' on their site, but then again they never do.
Two days ago our desktop computer stop having internet access. I called my ISP about this problem and they said that everything was fine with my router and that it might be a bad cable. I bought a new cable and it wasn't the cable. I called my dad's friend who works with computers and he said that he thought the NIC was bad. So we went to Staples and bought a Gigabit Ethernet PCI Adaptor, because that would fix the problem, well i installed all of the software and it didn't and we're stumped on what to do.
Our laptop still gets wifi however when I try to connect on my desktop it says that it can't connect through the WAN miniport PPPOE. It gives me error 815
I just switched to DSL from cable internet and am having some trouble setting up my router with the new internet service. DSL modem-->Router-->Network with PC and PS3
ISP is ATT DSL modem is a TP-Link 8616 Router is a D-Link DIR-628
I put my ATT username and password into the router but it never completes a connection to the internet. I was able to create a soft PPPoE gateway connection through my computer using my username and password, but I want my router to do this, not my PC. How do I get my router to connect directly to the Internet connection rather than having my PC connect? My setup would be fine as-is if I just had 1 computer but I also want to go online with my PS3, and it won't connect like my PC will, even after putting the username/password in.
A PC connected to a Cisco 877 router and 877 router is connected to another router (7301) via GRE tunnel,Cisco 7301 router is a NAS server and is being used as a PPPOE server. If user create a PPPOE connection on his computer and dial with a username/pass we want to send the PPPOE traffic to 7301 router, so 877 router should pass the PPPOE traffic to 7301 and user will be able to connect,User -> 877 -> 7301(PPPOE server).
I get stuck in one case. One of my customer has two FTTH lines. I have to config PPPoE in routers. In one line I config succesfully, but one line never up. I call to ISP they ask me to config extactly VLAN id 10 in the physical subinterface. But in subinterface there is no command "pppoe-client dial-pool-number". I check the old modem FTTH, they also config VLAN 10 in Wan interface. I tell ISP why we have the same two FTTHs, but two differrent config ways. ISP says because the two line run in two different infrastructure, two different devices. I don't know how to do now? stay in customer side or ISP side. Here is my PPPoE config:
interface FastEthernet0/0 no ip address duplex auto
