Wireless Bridge With 2 Routers Sagem 2504N / Netgear DG834GT?
Mar 8, 2013
I am on Sky broadband and have got the new Sagem 2504N router and have the old Netgear DG834GT router set up in my bedroom as a 2nd wireless hotspot and was wondering if it is possiable to set the netgear as a wireless hotspot/bridge to boost the range of the existing wireless signal rather than having two diff wireless hotspots and having to manually change between the two ? They are both ADSL routers, obvi the Sagem 1 being the 1 connected to the telephone line and the Netgear 1 being used "Passively" via a CAT5e cable from my switch i have in my bedroom?

I have a weird problem with my network setup. I have a netgear DG834GT ADSL router which runs fine with my Belkin 51B64C wireless router but when I enable "Use as Access Point" in order for me to see my wireless laptops connected to it the internet performance goes bad, the traffic cuts out momentarily for about 7 seconds at a time, its pretty difficult to surf the net having to wait. The setup is as follows:
Netgear
Gateway IP: 10.0.0.1
Subnet Msk: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Enabled
Belkin
Gateway IP: 10.0.0.9
Subnet Msk: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Enabled
as I said above the reason I enable "Use As Access Point" is so I can see the devices in Explorer for file sharing. Is there a way I can use port forwarding on the router to see the devices it would solve the performance problem.

I've got an old netgear dg834g router and I want to set it up so that it connects wirelessly to the main router in the house (netgear dgn3300) in order to have wired connections from the old router to my pc and xbox 360 upstairs.
I think I need to change the setting on the old router so that it acts as a 'repeater with wireless client association' but on the most recent firmware this doesn't seem to be an option.
I've been trying to use this guide [URL] but it doesn't seem to work. Whenever I change the IP address of the old router it just breaks down and won't let me access the settings anymore.

My router isn't allowing any wireless connections. I just woke up and my router was refusing connection to my wife's laptop and both our Nintendo 3DSes. However, my Xbox and my PC are directly connected and work perfectly. The laptop keeps saying my passkey is wrong.

I have a Cisco 881W and I would like to basically some how bridge the Cisco router to my netgear router. This is what I'm trying to achieve:
Cable Modem ----> Netgear Router ~~~~~ via wifi ~~~~> Cisco 881W ------> FastEthernet Ports
I've tried setting the Cisco 881W with station-role non-root with the SSID of my netgear router, but I get the error %DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response whenever I try to bridge it.
Is bridging the Cisco router via wifi to the Netgear Router something that is not possible or is it an error on my part?

WAG320 allows website blocking, to enable this you can use a keyword. I would like to use this function to block anoying advert sites (in the same way I could with my Netgear DG834GT) - However the way this function has been implemented is less than ideal.
e.g. when a site is blocked by the router, the router does not return a response - this is great until that site forms only part of a web page that is permitted. What then happens is the web page takes forever to load as the responses have to timeout for the blocked components.
The way this function *should* have been implemented, is the router should return a blank response for each of the blocked sites. Netgear do this and it works a treat, they even put up a banner saying "Website blocked by Netgear".
This is such a simple feature, why has Cisco overlooked this and how do I go about raising a product enhancement ? I've been through the helpdesk which quite frankly is a farse, they asked me to reflash my firmware which surprisingly didn't resolve the issue - they then told me to send them the unit back because it must have a fault !?!? (and I have to pay for postage of course!) I explained the issue about 5 times, but the operator on the other end was just a script reader and I could not speak to an engineer - very poor.

I've had my Sagem router running sky broadband for about 7 or more months now, but yesterday the connection began to drop randomly after connecting for like 40 seconds. Then It will come back on again 1-2mins later, they asked me unscrew my phone line covers to check yo see if it was a direct line. Eventually they told me that they would pass the issue onto their experts and would contact me in 72 hours, however after reading the exact issue that someone else had and he didn't receive any contact.
- My desktop is connected via Ethernet and I have 2 laptops which also cannot connect to the Router.
- I don't recall any changes I've made to the network, that might have caused these problems

I have been having trouble forwarding ports for different softwares and servers. I just upgraded my internet and my ISP sent me a new modem/router all in one. I am using a wired setup to my desktop. The router I am using is Sagem FAST 1704.
My ISP told me that they only give support for game consoles, the dumbest thing I ever heard since I don't pay for their internet so I can play games. Cannot forward a simple port. Port 100 in specific.
When I forward ports, I am certain that I'm typing in the right Ip address digit because I checked ipconfig. Then I check the 'canyouseeme' website and it tells me that the port is not open on my ip address. I have tried other means of checking to see if the port is open but they all tell me the port is closed. Once in awhile the port will be open but most of the time it isn't.
I plug in my older modems and it doesn't make a difference when I re-set up the port forwarding to the new IP so I guess it isn't a problem with the modem or router. I changed all my ethernet and phone cords and filters as well. My isp told me that they do not block ports.
My isp is Windstream. I cannot set up a static IP in network connections because when I do the internet doesn't work at all even if I set the exact same settings that are currently set. This happens with both modems I have. I do not use two devices at one time just the modem or the modem/router, there are no other computers connected and filters are on all phones/satellites. I am using Windows XP, not sure what other info you will need.
My isp keeps telling me they do not support setting up vpn's. I do not need support for that I just want to open a port. lol the next thing they told me is, you guessed it, "We do not support setting up VPN please contact your work IT........" which doesn't exist. I spoke to three of them and they all said the same thing, except one told me they were going to open ALL ports for me. That didn't happen.

I installed DD-WRT on my router and placed it in bridge mode, configuring it with what I thought was my Androids IP address for the gateway. I tried with the Android IP address identified through cmyip.org, 208.54.32.156, and with the one identified through ipconfig command, 192.168.43.1. Neither address was successful. Also, I am unable to access my router using the IP address that I manually assigned to it.provide some assistance on the process of bridging from an Android to a wired PC through a router, Linksys WRT54G v3,

If I have two Linksys wireless routers in my house, ( 1 Wireless-G as the Gateway attached to the DSL line, and attached to the main computer, and 1 Wireless-b model BEFW11S4v4 that I want to use as a bridge or as a repeater to send the wireless signal around the attic (2 floors away) and I have connected them via Ethernet, and then connected to the attic computer (not the main one) via Ethernet to Wireless-B, why can I not get connectivity on the attic computer?
If I forgo the Wireless-B router, and connect the ethernet to the attic computer everything is fine, but there is no wireless signal in the attic. (only downstairs where the Wireless-G is.) I believe I can access the Wireless-G and tell it to be a bridge or a repeter (?? I think) but as far as I can tell the Wireless-B is giving itself the same IP address as the Gateway Wireless-G is using, and I don't have an connectivity, so I can't change it! Im confused.

I live in a school residence with a roomate and we both have an internet connection in our rooms but it's two separate networks since we can't see eachothers pc on the network. Both our pcs are connected to a switch and those switches are connected to the two internet connections. I would like to know how to bridge those two networks using a router in the living room. I would also connect a printer and an xbox to the router so we can both access the printer, the xbox can access both pcs and we can access eachother's pc.

I need to configure a rv120w in order to make it work at the same time for data and digital tv. The fact is that the set top box for the idtv needs an IP address that will be delivered directly from the ISP. So I need to setup one LAN port that will be bridged to the WLAN connection (the stb will be connected to that lan port), and another port that will be connected to the LAN swicth so that the rest of the network has internet access. I can't see anywhere a way to create such a bridge. Quite disappointing as it's possible to do so on open source platforms such as openWRT..

At the small church I attend, and where I'm the IT guy, we have an RVS4000 router which has worked well for us including the VPN capability. Our internet connection is through AT&T (not my choice) and last week we had to switch from DSL to U-Verse because AT&T is doing away with the former.
Unfortunately as part of this switch, the old modem was discarded and an NVG510 installed. The NVG510 is a combo modem/router. But since it doesn't have VPN capability and is not as good a router all around as the RVS4000 (even though the 4000 is an aging device), I am trying to run both.
I finally figured out how to set up IP Passthrough on the NVG510 so now VPN is again working to the RVS4000 so that's not an issue. We do have a couple of PCs that are in a room where no wired connections are possible so they are using wireless. But they are not very close to the wireless antennas so they don't have the greatest throughput. The NVG510 does have wireless capability and is physically located to where it would provide a much better signal. However, the NVG510 will only use a 192.168.x.x subnet and our LAN is setup for 10.x.x.x. I'm not about to change the LAN as it runs a Windows domain with enough equipment that I don't want the exercise of changing subnets. Can the RVS4000 be setup so that it will route domain traffic between the 2 subnets? As it is now, connecting a PC to the 192.168.x.x subnet on the NVG510 allows it to have internet access but it can't access domain resources on the 10.x.x subnet. I don't understand networking well enough to know why this won't work. I know it can because when I worked for a large corporation, they had different subnets that were routed so that PCs on one subnet could be on the same Windows domain as PCs on another subnet and all access resources on both subnets.
The RVS4000 may be capable of doing this but my limited knowledge of networking (I know servers, not switches, etc) means I'm not sure of what I see on the router to know if it can do it or not.I'd be appreciative to know first off if the RVS4000 can do it, and secondly if it can, then how to set it up. I've worked with the RVS4000 since we got it 3+ years ago so I'm fairly familiar with it, I just don't know the rest.

My ISP insists that in order for me to have a home network use their router/modem ("2-Wire") for internet access, I must make my own network router act as a bridge since their modem is acting as the router. I.e. she said put your router into bridge mode. I don't know how to do that and Linksys won't offer assistance.
