View 6 Replies View RelatedOk I have 8 computers 2 computer will have a camera attached to it importing photos as they are being shot. (2 photo stations) Trick is I need to transfer all photos taken in real time to the remaining 6 computers at the same time. What is the best way to do this and what software to export all photos to the six computers. I'm running windows 7. I set this up as a home group but it was really slow. When I tried to use a network printer it would freeze the network? I need it to monitor new files as the photos come in. Also all photos also need to be copied to 6 different computers so guest could access their photo on any computer. This is how I currently have it set up. I have 2 Computers with cameras attached that takes the photos and sends them to PC1 (My Server Computer) The server computer also has the network printer attached. Each photo is about 300K-500K size.
Different photo is transfer every 15 seconds. The server computer is also connected to the other 5 Computers. The guest goes to one of the computers, scans a card and their photo pops up which is located on the server computer, they also have an option to print the photo. The problem is when the guests scans their card the photo is very slow to pull up ( about 15-20 seconds ) Second is when they hit print it freezes up sometimes for up to 2 minutes. I connected as a home group and first did connection wireless Then connect everything through a Ethernet cord which speed it just a little not much. Questions Do I need a better server computer?
I've got a home network running on a Linksys WRT150-N router. The network consists of 2 desktops running Windows XP SP3, and a laptop running Windows 7. I am able to transfer various files without a problem between and among all machines, EXCEPT when those files are beyond a certain size (less than 1 MB or so transfers fine). Most of my photos are in the 2 MB - 3 MB range, so I have to run around like an idiot with a thumb drive to transfer them.
Is there anything I can adjust on my router or for my network settings that will allow me to share larger files?
Additional Details The error message I get is different for Windows 7 or XP. On the remote XP machine, it says "Cannot copy filename: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected, and that the file is not currently in use." Obviously, none of those conditions is true.
More random symptoms:
It seems that the problem is limited to JPG files, and appears to be affecting only the vast repository where I keep all my photos. I've got all my photos stored in a main directory, then in sub-directories by Year, then by Date. e.g. PHOTOS 2011 2011_12_25
Moreover, this problem does NOT appear to have much to do with file size. Some large files will copy, while others will not.
It's very random. Some sub-folders are filled with readable pictures, while others are unreadable. But this follows no discernible pattern based on file date -- and they were all taken with the same camera. Smaller files seem to always be readable, even when larger ones in the same directory are.
I have an old Compaq and it does not have wireless capability. I want to transfer a software application and files to my new Acer Net book. How do i d this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Sagem router running sky broadband for about 7 or more months now, but yesterday the connection began to drop randomly after connecting for like 40 seconds. Then It will come back on again 1-2mins later, they asked me unscrew my phone line covers to check yo see if it was a direct line. Eventually they told me that they would pass the issue onto their experts and would contact me in 72 hours, however after reading the exact issue that someone else had and he didn't receive any contact.
- My desktop is connected via Ethernet and I have 2 laptops which also cannot connect to the Router.
- I don't recall any changes I've made to the network, that might have caused these problems
I have been having trouble forwarding ports for different softwares and servers. I just upgraded my internet and my ISP sent me a new modem/router all in one. I am using a wired setup to my desktop. The router I am using is Sagem FAST 1704.
My ISP told me that they only give support for game consoles, the dumbest thing I ever heard since I don't pay for their internet so I can play games. Cannot forward a simple port. Port 100 in specific.
When I forward ports, I am certain that I'm typing in the right Ip address digit because I checked ipconfig. Then I check the 'canyouseeme' website and it tells me that the port is not open on my ip address. I have tried other means of checking to see if the port is open but they all tell me the port is closed. Once in awhile the port will be open but most of the time it isn't.
I plug in my older modems and it doesn't make a difference when I re-set up the port forwarding to the new IP so I guess it isn't a problem with the modem or router. I changed all my ethernet and phone cords and filters as well. My isp told me that they do not block ports.
My isp is Windstream. I cannot set up a static IP in network connections because when I do the internet doesn't work at all even if I set the exact same settings that are currently set. This happens with both modems I have. I do not use two devices at one time just the modem or the modem/router, there are no other computers connected and filters are on all phones/satellites. I am using Windows XP, not sure what other info you will need.
My isp keeps telling me they do not support setting up vpn's. I do not need support for that I just want to open a port. lol the next thing they told me is, you guessed it, "We do not support setting up VPN please contact your work IT........" which doesn't exist. I spoke to three of them and they all said the same thing, except one told me they were going to open ALL ports for me. That didn't happen.
My router isn't allowing any wireless connections. I just woke up and my router was refusing connection to my wife's laptop and both our Nintendo 3DSes. However, my Xbox and my PC are directly connected and work perfectly. The laptop keeps saying my passkey is wrong.

So my fiance picked up a netbook and we can't get it to connect to my wireless network. It is an XP computer with Service Pack 3. It sees the wireless network, which other devices can connect to with no problem but when I try to connect it I get a limited or no connectivity error. I get the same thing when I try to plug the computer directly into the router. Occasionally it will just connect to the wireless, but it still won't connect to the router, let alone the the internet. Currently it is not connected to anything.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a netgear n300 WNR2000 v.2 router (which has the latest fireware as of today) and have connected to it both wirelessly and wired with my netbook. My netbook runs windows xp with sp3 and has all the lastest updates. My 2 pc's on the network are both wired and running windows 7 (both up to date with updates). I had no connectivity issues with any computers on any network ever until I got the pc's with windows 7. The 2 pc's see each other fine and they have zero issues as far as networking goes. Neither pc will interact with the xp netbook, and the netbook will not interact with either pc. I installed the LLTD on the netbook, which did allow the computers to "see" each other on the network maps. However, the computers still do not interact and say they are not on the network, even when trying to use the icon provided from the map to connect. In command prompts, all pc's and the netbook are able to ping each other with ip addresses. Only the windows 7 pcs are able to ping using net names though. When locating via "net view 192.168...", all the computers see each other and even display the appropriate names for the computers. However, using "net view pcname...", again nothing.I have selected netbios over tcp/ip, made sure the workgroup names match on all computers. The "net names" command showed no names saved in the cache.

I have a Compag Netbook (running Windows XP Home Edition) which will not connect to the internet, however the wireless icon in the tray is telling me that the signal strength is good and that i am connected but i cannot access any webpage. I know it is probably not the modem as we have another netbook in the house which connects no problem, as does our laptop so i'm figuring its something to do with the Compaq netbook??
I've had a look at some of the other queries regarding this on the site and note that you recommend 'ipconfig /all' results so you can gain a better understanding of what the problem might be, so here it is below

My family and I are traveling abroad for a three week vacation (yay!). The hotel we are staying in (and as is probably the case with future hotels) does not have a WiFi connection. However, there is one ethernet port/cable that we have connected an Acer Aspire One netbook to, and it is currently connected with pretty good speeds. What I'm wondering is, is there any way to set up a secured wireless network through the netbook and the hard port connection? It seems that Windows XP Network Set Up Wizard is really not a whole bunch of guidance on this particular subject.

The instruction manual says to click on the wireless icon, which brings up a window that, in the picture in the manual has three tabs, the third being "wireless information", but on my netbook that window only has two tabs. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a netbook (Acer Aspire One) with XP SP3 on it. It connects to my wireless network (so it says), but it won't get onto the internet. I can ping 127.0.0.1, but it won't ping my router. When I do ipconfig /release > ipconfig /flushdns > ipconfig /renew, it hangs up on the renew portion telling me that the DHCP server timed out. The exact error message is:"An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection 2 : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected"I've checked the TCP/IP settings, it's set to automatically obtain and IP address and DNS servers. I've checked the DHCP service and that's running. The internet works when it's wired. I've used the "repair" function when right-clicking the wireless icon and it tells me it can't renew my IP address. I made an ipconfig /all when it was connected and this is what it came up with:
