Set Up Wireless Network Through Aspire One Netbook

My family and I are traveling abroad for a three week vacation (yay!). The hotel we are staying in (and as is probably the case with future hotels) does not have a WiFi connection. However, there is one ethernet port/cable that we have connected an Acer Aspire One netbook to, and it is currently connected with pretty good speeds. What I'm wondering is, is there any way to set up a secured wireless network through the netbook and the hard port connection? It seems that Windows XP Network Set Up Wizard is really not a whole bunch of guidance on this particular subject.

This issue concerns our Acer Aspire1 Netbook. It just suddenly will not let us access our home wireless network. When I followed previous advice by unchecking the IEEE 802.1x box, I received the "40 bit or 104 bit" warning box and upon checking found that the 802.1x box had automatically been rechecked. Needless to say, we still can't access the wireless network.

earlier this year I bought an Acer AspireOne netbook with Windows 7 startup operating system. It's been working fine until recently when it suddenly does not see our home wifi connection. It shows a list of all our neighbours routers, just not ours. We have various other devices that can see and connect to it just fine (other PCs & laptops, iPhones & smartphones, MacBook Pro etc) A system restore cured the problem the first couple of times, but now that doesn't work. I've tried resetting & restarting the modem & router dozens of times but it does not appear in the list of available networks for the netbook.

I have a netbook (ASPIRE ONE) with windows XP SP3. When I am at the office the internet connection fails frequently. The internet connection icon disappears after few seconds. But the rest of the computers that are in the office work OK with the internet. But at home, my computer work well, even the internet icon appears and remains. At office, there is a belkin300N router. At home, I have the same model but old version.there are computers with Windows Vista or Windows XP either at office or at home.

I just got a used Acer AspireOne AOA150 ZG5 Netbook and upon bringing it home, I received a "Limited or No Connectivity" error when attempting to use the internet via wireless. I have another laptop that connects at the same time with no issues. The Netbook DOES work if I hardwire into my home router. I have since taken the Netbook to work and it connects to the wireless there with no issues. So it seems to be an issue specifically with my home router/modem and this Netbook.So far I have flushed my DNS cache, done the Winsock and reset my TCP/IP, removed wireless profiles, and tried the Repair function.None of that has worked. My wireless properties are also set to automatically obtain the IP address.I'm on XP SP3 and it seems like a lot of folks think that it's a SP3 issue, but I don't think so in my case since the wireless is fine in other locations. When I ran a reset to factory settings of my acer aspire one netbooks which runs windows 7 I no longer have a wireless connection option at all. I have done this before and never lost my ability to connect wirelessly. I tried to look for driver downloads but I'm not even sure what it is I need to do to recover the missing program as it was a original factory program.

I have an existing wireless network, and wish to add a Netbook to it. The Netbook can detect the network, but will not join it. It says the signal is strong, but still will not join the network. The computers cannot detect the Netbook wirelessly either, although network discovery is turned on.

The netbook was working fine on wireless network; didnt use it for a couple of days - now I cannot conenct wired or wireless; cannot see the wired or wireless modem , only MSN dial up. But the wireless modem light is blinking steadily. Otherwise the netbook is working OK - it even seems to boot up quicker than it used to)(I would reinstall the OS but it didnt come with OS DVD or a DVD drive ; so I didnt create a backup when I bought it. I have since purchased a USB DVD drive; this is one of two identical netbooks I purchased on black Friday - other one works perfectly?

I tried my entire afternoon trying to figure this out but to no avail. Fortunately, I found this place out of my desperation for a solution. My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.

I recently bough an Acer Aspire 5733z notebook set it up yesterday.I am however having major problems with connecting to the internet (I am writing this on my desktop PC downstairs).I have a Netgear DG834G modem/router which worked just fine with my old netbook - a Samsung N130.The problem is that when I click on available connections, my network isn't there, but everyone else's on the street is My PC is connect to the modem/router via Ethernet and when I plug the Ethernet cable into the 5733z it does connect to the internet just fine - it won't however recognize my wireless network.

Just bought, off a friend, an Acer Aspire 7720G.Before I bought it he wiped everything back to factory settings.When I first started it it was ok, I downloaded google chrome, pokerstars and then all the microsoft updates.Since then I have only managed to connect to the internet once. This was when I left the laptop for around 20 mins and when I went back it had connected to my home network.We have 2 other laptops and an iphone that connects to the internet so I know the router is working.I have disabled the wirless adapter and restarted the laptop but still get nothing.As I type this, on another laptop!, the problem one has been on for 30 mins but still nothing.

Can't connect my NEW Acer Aspire One D257 to my ProLink PWH 2004. Strangely enough my Macbook Air is already connected to my wireless network without a hitch.I see my home's wireless signal on the bottom right but when I click it and try to enter my SECURITY KEY it's still unable to connect.I also get this message: Another computer is trying to connect to your wireless network etc..

a while ago my pc had an eroor, ive fixed it and replaced windows vista and now im on windows 7, i have a connection through an ethernet cable plugged into my router but my laptop cannot find my wireless network but it works on my DSIXL, PSP and Xbox 360 so its not an internet problem. my pc model is an Acer Aspire 7730.

Acer Aspire 4520 Wireless network no longer works.
The light on keyboard is lit up but when pressed, it says No Device.
Went out a long time ago and I quit using the laptop. Borrowed external adapter which works.
No updates found for driver.

I have an Acer Aspire 5570Z that is running Windows Vista with an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. The Windows installation is a brand new clean install with all drivers on the computer being the latest and greatest from their respective manufacturers. Now for my problem...I am unable to connect to any wireless network using either the onboard wireless network card or an external USB wireless network adapter. When I scan for wireless networks my cpu will see them. I can then select whichever network I want to try and connect to but when I click the connect button it never takes me to the authentication screen to input the WEP key.
I have tried to manually enter the WEP and configure the network but then when I try to connect to the network it still tells me that Windows is unable to connect to the network. It gives me the option to diagnose connection or connect to another network but when I try diagnosing the connection it scans for a split second then it only gives me an option to go view available wireless networks. It is like my computer has lost the ability to authenticate a network connection.

in another location from my desktop that is only using my wired network, or do they both have to have wireless? I say this cause under those conditions i noticed that with my net book next to my desktop i am able to share files with one being wired and the other being wireless.

I have a netgear n300 WNR2000 v.2 router (which has the latest fireware as of today) and have connected to it both wirelessly and wired with my netbook. My netbook runs windows xp with sp3 and has all the lastest updates. My 2 pc's on the network are both wired and running windows 7 (both up to date with updates). I had no connectivity issues with any computers on any network ever until I got the pc's with windows 7. The 2 pc's see each other fine and they have zero issues as far as networking goes. Neither pc will interact with the xp netbook, and the netbook will not interact with either pc. I installed the LLTD on the netbook, which did allow the computers to "see" each other on the network maps. However, the computers still do not interact and say they are not on the network, even when trying to use the icon provided from the map to connect. In command prompts, all pc's and the netbook are able to ping each other with ip addresses. Only the windows 7 pcs are able to ping using net names though. When locating via "net view 192.168...", all the computers see each other and even display the appropriate names for the computers. However, using "net view pcname...", again nothing.I have selected netbios over tcp/ip, made sure the workgroup names match on all computers. The "net names" command showed no names saved in the cache.

I have an annoying problem with my netbook. It's a Toshiba NB525. My laptop can access the internet and connect wirelessly at home.
I'm currently staying at a hotel. I can detect and connect to the network but no internet.
The way the internet at this hotel works is that it redirects you to a site to log in before gaining access.
It seems to work intermittently but very rarely. Requiring me to reset the connection multiple times. Problem is, my other devices work perfectly fine to connect.

Do I need different network settings for when I am connected with my Rogers Rocket Stick vs when I am connected to my home Bell router? I have a acer aspire 5741 with win7 and i5. i have no problems once i am connected to my network, the problem is the acer will only connect when i do it manually.i have changed the adapter settings to connect automatically numerous times but when i reboot, the settings always change back to connect manually. i have tried other networks but the acer will only connect manually. like i said, once connected it works fine it just will not do it automatically.

My ancient HP desktop connects to the network via wired connection. My laptop connects wirelessly (usually). Both have very strong signals from the router and the desktop connects to the internet just like always, but the laptop isn't getting the internet signal. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5534 (Costco special) and the router is a Linksys Simultaneous Dual Band N-type. The only real significant thing that was done on the laptop was to install Adobe Shockwave Player with Norton Scan. I already have McAfee on the laptop tho, so I uninstalled the Norton. I'm going to do a system restore in a moment.

I am able to connect the other laptops and gaming consoles that we have at the house. My brother's laptop is an Acer Aspire 5520. Whenever I tried connecting to the router. It would sometimes accept my wpa key at the same time it would give me a valid IP Address. But for some reason it says on the connection status "Unidentified Network" What I did was I enabled guest zone. I was able to connect thru a guest account without using any WPA key.

When I connected to the Internet by using WiFi, my laptop will suddenly disconnected. Sometimes it works to fix it with troubleshooter but sometimes I have to restart my laptop again and again. The troubleshooter mentioned it can be driver/network adapter problem but how to stop DC. I sent my laptop to the service center, they said this is not about my network adapter problem and asked me to reformat my laptop and check whether this issue can be solved or not.

I have checked my modem by direct connecting it to my laptop. I have checked my linksys box by doing the same. I can see the linksys on my laptop but cannot access the internet. I have been having this problem with limited access with my internet. I have deleted mcafee, norton, photoshop, applications etc. I have restored the system to a previous date. I have disabled firewalls and antiviruses. I have an Acer Aspire with Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. I only have wireless as I am sharing my internet and therefore can't test it with an Ethernet cable. I cannot switch on and off the modem box either. I have this limited access which disappears by itself after a few minutes. Then it comes back again. I disable the wireless and enable it again which solves the problem for only a few minutes. I have checked my ip which is 192.168.1.20 with submask of 255 something - which I don't think is the problem.At last, I have switched to Safe mode with Networking but even in this mode I still have limited access. The internet connection keeps cutting off and on all the time.
